Chapter 376 What exactly did the Weeping Ones do in the Ghoul Starfield? (It's the end of the month, please give me some monthly votes)

The welcoming ceremony was brief and solemn, with Arthur's retinue consisting of only a squad of dark angels.

After delivering a three-line performance that rallied the group of emo Astartes, Arthur led the team into a rapid working communication phase.

Everything that needed to be said had been said. For Astartes, the mushy small talk was not as satisfying as going to the dueling arena to loosen up his muscles after the meeting.

And the Lord of Knights just happened to have that time.

"So you shouldn't have suffered so many casualties?"

Ramses' voice rang out in the conference room.

He was bending over to examine the connection between the Holy Hymn pituitary gland and Kahulangi, manipulating the psionic threads with his fingertips, his brow furrowed slightly: "Before encountering those special worm-men?"

The atmosphere in the meeting room was slightly relaxed, yet it also exuded a cold, efficiency-first vibe.

Arthur and Ramses stood to one side, intently sorting out the details and results of the war. Flamewing's staff sat around a long table, their fingers flying across the tactical panel, categorizing and organizing the information, and then transmitting it through the encrypted channel inside the Primarch to Romulus, who was far away in the Dawn Fleet, so that the other side could adjust its strategic deployment.

On the other side of the council chamber, Huron was tugging at Azrael's arm guards, whispering something to him.

His expression unusually carried a hint of annoyance—

Not long ago, an AlphaRies team infiltrated his ranks, and he now desperately needed guidance from this professional. Azrael crossed his arms, his expression calm, occasionally nodding and occasionally shaking his head.

"Yes."

The spirit stood beside Tiberius, and Kahulangi nodded solemnly.

Because of their pragmatic attitude cultivated in extreme environments and the deep trust among members forged in blood and fire, the Man-Eating Shark group is often the primary test subject for various cutting-edge technologies.

At least this experimental subspace technology worked, preserving the souls of the think tanks and preventing them from being easily swallowed up by the subspace.

Unfortunately, ordinary Astartes are no match for them. Their souls aren't as special as those of the Intelligence Bureau, and they're already lying in the warp. They either have to report to the Cursed Legion or they're doomed.

Ramses couldn't possibly launch a ritual for a global recruitment drive. Simply recruiting a single warrior would be too wasteful of souls from an economic perspective, since humans couldn't travel seamlessly through the Warp like the Eldar.

The Spirit Race is far too noble; the Goddess of Life bestows blessings as if they were free.

Ramses couldn't help but complain in his heart.

"We were the first to discover that group of special worm-like people."

Frost added, "They are smaller in size, but they have an exceptional talent for mimicry, and can forge all sorts of signals that we use during brief engagements."

"At the same time, the weapons they use are also different from those of other worm-like beings we have encountered. Instead of those lighter and more bio-technologically advanced warships, these enemies use huge war satellites as their space vehicles."

"Moreover, they can spread some kind of unknown pollution to the planets they occupy. The aliens and human races ruled by them will be highly unified with these aliens in thought. We can only completely purify all intelligent life on those planets."

"In this battle, the loss of more than 1,500 Astartes was in the conflict with this particular alien species."

Tiberius provided detailed data tables.

The Ghoul Starfield has always been teeming with monsters and demons. The Shark Caravan has indeed encountered small alien groups with similar characteristics, but has never seen a massive group capable of ruling over several planets.

The intensity was terrifyingly high, and even mortal support troops were easily corrupted. If it weren't for the fact that the Man-Eating Shark was relatively experienced, it would have lost a lot of troops.

However, these aliens have very low resistance to psionic energy. The Eldar's Psionic Forging units are very effective against the enemy, and the Intelligence can also create advantages for their side by releasing psionic energy in local battlefields.

Of course, Kahulangi, as a psionic master, did not die because of being targeted.

Kahulangi died purely out of bad luck, taking a direct hit from a naval gun.

Although the Ghoul Starfield had a small impact area, the intensity of the war was exaggerated, with even the Eldar using their power. The space battle even required the Ash Claws to be brought in to maintain the stalemate. In this chaotic state, the enemy usually targeted large psionic units like the Spirit Forged Titans, and no space unit would target a small think tank.

Kahulangi volunteered to help the lamenters, who were short of think tank resources, break through their predicament, and then his spaceship was hit by a war satellite during its journey.

The war satellite wasn't even attacked; it was simply shot down at the right angle.

At this point, Forros couldn't help but feel deeply guilty.

'This can't be a worm-man, can it?'

After carefully reviewing the information, the members of the Dark Angels team immediately revealed subtle expressions.

Especially Zabril.

The hood's shadow concealed his expression well, but his taut jawline betrayed his alertness. Fun fact: Zabril was a Dreadwing Destroyer during the Great Crusade and participated in all three Randan Wars, surviving every single one – a true Randan veteran.

These features are not those of worm-men, but rather resemble those of their allies from ten thousand years ago.

He glanced at his colleague beside him, who came from the Broken Claw Order.

“I will apply to lead a team there.”

The members of the Broken Claw Order were the first to break the silence.

Although based on current intelligence, these aliens, suspected to be remnants of the Randan, are unlikely to pose a significant threat, the Dark Angels believe that any related clues are worth thoroughly investigating.

This is their duty.

"What kind of luck is this?"

Ramses looked up at the sky and couldn't help but nudge Arthur with his elbow.

"Ghoul Starfield, normal."

Arthur, who had approved the application, replied that he wasn't too bothered by it.

Although many aliens were destroyed during the Great Crusade, quite a few also survived.

Such beings include the Groot, who can strengthen themselves by consuming genes, and the Hrugers, who are essentially like the Tyranid swarm; the Hrugers, who can manipulate entropy and time; the worm-like beings with advanced biotechnology and unknown warp travel technology; and the remnants of the Randan.
These things are either hiding outside the Star Torch or on unexplored planets, and they might cause a major disaster for the Empire at any time. But compared to the Tyranid swarm that is about to sweep across the galaxy or the gradually awakening space undead fleet, these are just minor ailments at the moment.

Of course, even minor ailments must be compared to the entire empire. Any force that can threaten the empire and lands in a localized area is a complete disaster.

It can only be said that the Weeping Ones are truly lucky. If the Man-Eating Sharks hadn't been over-supplied and had configurations far exceeding those of the Legion era, they would probably have died on the spot.

"And then there's this wormhole."

Ramses then pointed to the wormhole in his hand, which resembled a large vortex with smaller rings within it, and looked troubled.

This is just a sensory illusion. In fact, the wormhole is very far away from the Maelstrom, even inside the Badab sub-sector.

This is outrageous.

Everyone knows that the Tau Empire created this kind of extremely special navigation technology in the future, which is difficult to replicate. Moreover, considering the current state of the galaxy and a series of potential future threats, the Dawn Wings have invested a great deal in this area.

Even now that they can access the Eldar's network in certain areas, they haven't relaxed their efforts in the slightest.

After all, this may be one of the few faster-than-light travel methods that they can fully master.

"I know that the warp drive technology of the subsurface current module has indeed entered the application stage, but I remember that for safety reasons, we didn't include the subspace jump module at all, right? And the experiments haven't even started yet."

Arthur reached out and manipulated the star map, causing the wormhole's three-dimensional structure to slowly rotate.

"Could it be that the combined fleet of the Lamenters and the Man-Eating Sharks resonated with the warp-distorted space, causing the compressed warp channel to tear a path through the subspace rift region?"

As the regulator in charge of this part of the research, Arthur is quite knowledgeable about the technology.

"And then, just like that, a stable wormhole was created, connecting the Whirlpool Galaxy to the Ghoul Star Region?"

Ramses countered, "Is this statistically reasonable?"

"Of course it's unreasonable."

Arthur also thought it was outrageous, but he was better at managing his facial expressions.

"Hmm—but considering the outcome, it's a good result?"

Ramses hesitated for a moment, then concluded: "After the worst comes the best?"

"Not counting."

Arthur reviewed the repair reports of each ship. Thanks to the top-level maintenance personnel initially assigned to the Weeping Ones, the series of catastrophic incidents that occurred during the wormhole crossing were all properly resolved.

The fleet led by the Lamenter eventually left the wormhole safely, but the densely packed maintenance logs silently told the story behind it all.

Even through the words, Arthur could feel the intense will to survive contained within them.

"It's just that I'm incredibly lucky."
