Chapter 368 On How Many Legions Emperors Created
The Soul Drinker's greatest enemy has left.
He died silently.
But the troubles of the Soul Drinkers are not over yet.
After all, based on multiple investigations and subsequent genetic verification, the Soul Drinkers' current gene seed does not belong to any loyalist warband.
The Imperial Fist headquarters, located in Terra, also traveled to Mars to trace the genetic seeds submitted by the Soul Drinkers, only to find that they could not be traced back to the Imperial Fist at all.
This is a really serious problem.
The Soul Drinker did not commit any act of betrayal, but he was also not a son of Dorne.
As a newly formed warband, these honorable and ancient warbands are proud of their lineage. However, this incident has put many of their subsidiary warbands, including the Imperial Fist as the parent warband, in a dilemma.
Shortly after the delegation arrived, a parliamentary session chaired by the Primarchs commenced.
The Primarch's personal arrival flattered everyone, but also made the Soul Drinkers somewhat uneasy.
However, the scene was not quite what I had initially imagined.
The Primarch who arrived was Arthur, accompanied by the Dark Angel.
The commander-in-chief is responsible for all military-related affairs and personally oversees a series of military operations from the front lines.
He was in charge of handling the mechanical churches within the Incaladion sector, and now Romulus, as the regent of the Dawnwing, is busy taking over the sector.
The main goal is to send civil servants to manage the planet, station troops, divide the power of the Mechanicus, reduce its military strength, and gradually transform the members of the Mechanicus from warlords who coordinate the overall situation to producers and researchers.
Compared to the hazy star field, Romulus's handling of the extreme star field was much more unrestrained.
They've stopped acting altogether, leaving them no autonomy whatsoever.
On the edge of the Incaladion Sector, Arthur first organized a duel that was highly valued by the representatives of many chapters, in which the Primarch personally fought each of the participants with sword against sword, treating even the accused Soul Drinkers equally in the process.
This approach, compared to verbal wrangling, more effectively eased the tension among the representatives and allowed the meeting to proceed in a relatively relaxed atmosphere.
After being beaten up, everyone pondered how to leave scars on their bodies while also marveling at the Primarch's kindness and affability, and suddenly they had a good idea of the outcome of the meeting.
"I don't know!"
In the conference room of the 'Steel Blood', Ledodes slammed his fist on the table and pointed at the head of Leisander, the company commander of the Imperial Fist.
"It's one thing for the other subgroups to be unaware of the secrets involved, but you all don't even know that the Mountain Town carries so many of Dorne's notes? Haven't you tried to decipher them in all these thousands of years?"
"How could you propose something as absurd as replacing the Soul Drinker's gene seed with a complete Imperial Fist gene seed? Don't make decisions without knowing anything. What about Vladimir? Is this how you let him take over the Imperial Fist?"
"If you don't want to solve the problem, fine, but what's with the rush to back down? Has your brain been infected by those parasites from the High Lords Council?"
Lysander kept his head down, ignoring Ledodes's disrespectful remarks to the captain, looking like he was being scolded.
There was no way around it; the Grand Marshal had led the Black Templar for a time comparable to Dante of the Blood Angels, and both were highly respected figures. No matter how glorious Lysander was, he wouldn't argue with Ledodes over such a trivial matter.
Arthur sat there calmly on the high place.
A bunch of secondary factions around them, like Crimson Fist, Iron Knights, and the Blame-Makers, were just watching the show.
The executioner was just there for the spectacle.
After all, Lann had come back to life. This famous company commander, who had shone brightly during the Siege of Terra and loved fighting, naturally felt that they couldn't miss such an honorable exchange.
So what if it's the third army? Compared to the second army organized by the ambitious Guilliman, this one was actually split off by Dorn himself.
What can we do now? You can't just turn someone away from the door if they're standing there with an axe, can you? "What's wrong with Imperial Fist? How come they don't even know about the Soul Drinkers? There's no need to make a fuss about this, is there?"
"The Crimson Fist elder, who died during the Great Rebellion, asked in a low voice."
"The Fist of the Empire?"
One of the executioners, who had a grudge against Maximus Thorne, the 22nd Company Commander of the Imperial Fist, the Exemplary Fist Troop Commander, and the Imperial Fist Troop Commander, whispered:
"Exemplary Fist!"
A burst of suppressed laughter immediately erupted from the surrounding area.
This group of elders, who only cared about the thrill of the fight and basically didn't get involved, sat on the sidelines watching this farce unfold.
They certainly knew where the Soul Drinkers came from; even the apothecaries couldn't hide the genetic differences between them from the Legion-era architecture.
For some unspeakable reasons, the Imperial Fist seems to be unaware of this.
"."
Lysander's face fell as he heard the elders' teasing, filled with shame for the chapter's past experiences.
No wonder the elders don't want to return to the Imperial Fist; they simply don't like them.
The Imperial Fist does indeed have some issues with its current track record.
During the Beast Wars, the Imperial Fist was wiped out once due to a major strategic blunder. The Imperial Fist sub-teams had to initiate the Final Wall Agreement, with each of them contributing a company of one hundred men to rebuild the wiped-out Imperial Fist. Maximus Thorne, the most respected man at the time, who had served as the commander of the 22nd Company of the Imperial Fist and was then the commander of the Exemplary Fist Battle Group, was chosen as the commander of the Imperial Fist Battle Group.
The matter would have ended there; the Black Temple had successfully gone to Los Angeles to explain the consequences, and everyone continued with their lives as usual.
Then something magical happened.
A warrior from the Fist of Exemplars forged a brotherhood with an Iron Warrior during an unexpected war. He then disregarded the objections of another comrade from the Black Templars, killed his comrade and his sons of Dorne who opposed him, and fled with the Iron Warrior.
shame--
That's so damn humiliating.
The consequence of this event was that the Black Templars and the Imperial Fist became enemies and withdrew from the Final Wall Agreement. Maximus Thorne, feeling guilty towards Dorn, simply abolished the Exemplary Fist organization and fully integrated into the Imperial Fist.
So while their bloodline isn't the issue, the Imperial Fist of today is, strictly speaking, the Exemplary Fist, and their cultural shortcomings have caused them to lose many secrets from the Legion era.
Now, things have gotten awkward.
"These are notes left by Dorn, kept in the storage room of the Eternal Expedition."
Ledodes photographed the documents.
"How many legions did the Emperor create?"
"eighteen."
Lesander replied without hesitation.
"twenty!"
Lesander felt like dying and wished he were deaf.
