Chapter 364? I just started here, and you're telling me it's over?
Looking across the Milky Way, right and wrong are beyond question.
Leaving aside the fact that the Eldar were confined to a corner of the world, split into three factions, and slowly dying, the Greenskins lost their homeworld, and after the rise of the Beast Wars was nipped in the bud, they could only maintain small groups of troops to harass and expand their living space everywhere.
Even the mighty Tyranid Swarm suffered a crushing defeat in its first invasion of the galaxy. Now, the Behemoth Hive fleet is blocked outside fortress worlds by the Ultramarines who have built mountains and seas. Any attempt to invade will only invite the Great Alteramar Ironfist, which has effectively reunified the galaxy.
The internal strife in Chaos continues unabated, the other races are no longer a concern, only the empire is thriving.
Regardless, the empire has the upper hand in confronting the many threats to the galaxy!
"."
Romulus looked at the documents, then at a report brought to him by the Supreme Marshal of the Black Temple, Ledodes, and began to analyze the series of issues reflected in them.
When the Dawn Fleet arrived at the Vigilant Star for its final rest and refit, almost three years had passed since the Victory Parade.
Over the course of three years, in the initial period following the Victory Parade, Romulus prioritized the disbandment of the Astartes and their Imperial departments that had gathered from various star sectors. He also dispatched liaison officers and civil servants to carry out preliminary renovations of the homeworlds and organizational bases of these Imperial departments and to establish administrative organizations.
Once the Dawn Sector has digested the gains from this campaign, subsequent technical support will be built around the bases of these Imperial departments and radiate outwards to surrounding star systems.
The Dawn Fleet itself was not in a hurry to return to the Dawn Starfield. Instead, it maintained patrols around the Gate of Cadian, towing the decommissioned 'Ironblood' to various worlds to consolidate the Dawn Starfield Government's rule over the directly controlled planets carved out of the starfields during the 'Ironblood Invasion'.
Reward the loyal, punish the traitors, and then raise the local average standard of living.
Although he was bound to be criticized for his ambitions, Romulus still felt that it was better to have these planets in his own hands than to hand them over to the Empire for local autonomy.
During this process, Romulus mainly engaged in the handover of some planets with the Astartes Grand Guard, led by the White Regent.
Primarily consisting of planets in the Scalus sector, opposite Kadia and located on the other side of the Eye of Fear, as well as the Red Earth, which is far opposite the Vigilant Star, the ring-shaped structure connects all the way to the Forging World Agrippina.
By expanding the efficient system that combines Astartes with mortals, and relying on the psionic local area network to strongly control the planet's development, Agrippina's liberated productivity and trained technicians can radiate outwards through these stable nodes, allowing these chapters to better fulfill their defensive duties.
Secondly, there is the most important objective in this war.
Mechanical teaching.
The Dawn Fleet has won the battle, and Romulus's technology plugins have been installed, which can now effectively protect some scientific technologies from being corrupted by chaos.
The process seems to corrupt these technologies first, making it difficult for other evil gods to take the plunge.
But as I said before, this universe is a huge pit, and you have to find a mechanical god to believe in eventually. Rather than believing in the senile Emperor, the unresponsive Void Dragon, or the warp merchant Vashtor, you should believe in Romulus.
He's just open-sourcing it.
Although there are still quite a few conservatives within the Cult of Mechanics, and they even control a considerable number of armed forces, most of them are more concerned with their own interests and don't care much about the fire in the distant Misty Starfield.
The high lords of Terra are currently oblivious to everything around them, unable to hear anything.
The only powerful faction, the Creators, outwardly appears to be actively absorbing the Dark Machine Cult, but in reality, they, including Vashtor, are terrified.
So, to summarize:
We can afford to offend them, we can afford to offend them, we can still afford to offend them.
Very good, it's time to show my skills.
The Black Templars naturally followed closely behind the Dawn Fleet, dragging their old rival's flagship around without even having time for a major overhaul of the Eternal Expedition, much to the envy of the other Imperial Fist Corps.
Romulus provides an overview, demonstrates keen understanding of data, and outlines the general direction of strategic deployment. Adjustments are made accordingly, predictions are made, and forecasts are planned in advance.
Although precise, it is not about micromanaging every detail, trying to grasp every tiny hair, or thinking for others. Instead, it manipulates each variable, using arrangements and instructions to dismantle those terrifyingly complex problems, making it seem more like a master chess player.
Look at the prosperity of the Warning Star.
The enemy used ten years of war and three years of peace to transform this planet into a jewel in the hazy star field.
one.
After only a brief observation, Ledodes' respect for Lord Romulus's talent reached a new level.
Although some criticize Lord Romulus for his exceptional leadership skills, he is the only choice for the crucial task of governing the empire.
No one could do it better, Ledodes found himself memorizing intently, captivated by the series of plans Romulus was subconsciously displaying.
"Speak plainly, our Supreme Marshal."
Looking at the few major and minor cases mentioned in the report, Romulus stated quite bluntly:
“We do indeed hold a hostile attitude towards the conservatives within the Cult of Mechanics. Of course, I don’t care about the petty matters of the conservative members, and I don’t think they can do anything to this Empire—”
"On the contrary, I will make trouble for them. Now, you can explain the cause of this incident and the connections involved."
Dressed in a long red robe, the Dragon Lord from Ras Star rubbed his face, staring blankly at the documents in his hand with an expression of disbelief.
Of course, those who have witnessed the power of the Dawnbreaker Wings cannot understand this kind of thing.
Almost every sage who met Lord Romulus ended up like this.
Regardless of the dragon lord who had been sitting shakily in his seat for half a day, Ledodes glanced at the proposal that the other party had submitted, which was essentially a contract of servitude.
Suppressing his doubts, and preparing to inquire later about the importance of the 'CNKI'—a technology that various departments had signed agreements to access for free and which was gradually becoming popular among these technical personnel—the Supreme Marshal spoke directly.
"Report: The incident stemmed from five years ago when the Soul Drinker Legion traveled to the Extreme Starfield to retrieve a sacred relic left behind by our Father of Genetics. During the retrieval process, a conflict broke out between them and the Martian sage, Witt, and Witt was subsequently accused."
Ledodes quickly reported what had happened.
The Soul Drinkers Chapter, a branch of the Imperial Fist that split off during the Second Founding of the Army, is named after the 'Soul Spear,' a weapon once used by the Imperial Fist Primarch, Rogue Dorn.
At some point in the M40 era, the Soul Drinker Chapter's flagship disappeared into the warp during a catastrophic warp voyage, along with the Chapter's relics.
Even now, the Soul Drinkers are searching for the relic and hoping to bring it back to the battlefield.
Just as the 'Kardian Gate Self-Defense Counterattack' was nearing its end, the Soul Drinkers captured an orbital defense platform in the Extreme Starfield that contained the Soul Spear and were about to retrieve the sacred artifact when the Martian Mechanical Church's fleet suddenly teleported in and left with the Soul Spear before the Soul Drinkers could react.
The Soul Drinkers reinforced the platform's defenses and demanded that the Mechanicus return the Spear of Souls; however, the Spear of Souls had already been moved to another warship and was being transported to a Forging World.
After denying that they had stolen the Dornish relics, the Mechanicus starships aimed a massive siege weapon at the Soul Drinkers located on the defensive platform. The Soul Drinkers, Space Marines who inherited the violent side of the Sons of Dornish, were forced by multiple factors to board the ships and destroy the Mechanicus's weapon in self-defense. In the process of escaping on their two strike cruisers, they caused some casualties to the Mechanicus.
Ultimately, a court intervened in the conflict and ordered both sides to cease fire.
Because it was located on the edge of the Dawn Galaxy, this Inquisition force did not rush to characterize the conflict. Instead, it ignored the coercion of the Mechanicus, launched an investigation, and convened representatives from both sides for negotiations.
Throughout this process, the Mechanicus representative, the Sage Witt, has consistently portrayed himself as a victim in condemning the Soul Drinkers' actions. As the negotiations have dragged on, their impatience has grown, and they have recently presented a series of extremely damaging pieces of evidence against the Soul Drinkers.
These include accusations of heresy against the Soul Drinker Chapter's manual, "Questions and Answers on Military Service," and suggestions that the origin of its genetic seed is questionable.
A rather serious accusation.
Since they're not loyalists, then they must be rebels.
This accusation even alarmed the Imperial Fist, who were still assisting the Imperial Guard in eliminating various potential threats in Terra.
The Imperial Fist dispatched Company Commander Lysander to intervene in the matter, while extreme sentiments arose within the Soul Drinker Chapter, who believed that their rights needed to be fought for by force.
This made the judges on the other side a little scared, but after thinking it over, they realized that this was under the nose of the Dawn Wings, and since their fleet and military forces were supplied by the Dawn Sector, they didn't need to give face to the Mechanicus. After much persuasion, they managed to calm the Soul Drinkers down, and then they simply tried to use their connections to see if they could contact someone influential enough to intervene in the negotiations.
Then they approached the Black Templar. As everyone knows, the Black Templar is the social butterfly among the many Dornish children.
Whether it was fighting alongside the Iron Knights in the past, helping them through that difficult period, the friendship of exchanging paint jobs with the Crimson Fist, or protecting the Sky Lions in the future when they were targeted by the Inquisition and almost wiped out, all of these are enough to prove how stable their position is in the Dorn Children's social circle.
Moreover, because of Sigismund and the Eternal Expedition, the Black Templar and the Imperial Fist are not as far removed from their parent organization in terms of status as other loyalist factions.
Upon learning this news, the Supreme Marshal was furious.
After finally defeating the Iron Warriors and even stealing their flagship, I was just about to throw a Blade Feast and invite my buddies for a fight to celebrate when I turned around and found that my buddies had been persecuted.
The chapters, including Crimson Fist and Executioner, are all fired up and ready to fight back and prove their brothers right.
However, Ledodes thought that now that they had Primarchs above them, he couldn't act rashly and embarrass the Primarchs, so he decided to come and ask for their opinions.
"The Soul Drinker shouldn't have done anything too extreme, right?"
Romulus asked.
"Aside from the initial conflict on the orbital defense platform, no further conflict occurred. The judge mediated throughout, and the armed forces of both sides were separated."
Ledodes replied.
Thanks to the Dawn Sector, at least this time the Inquisitors didn't resort to the stereotypical one-size-fits-all approach, but instead took the initiative to investigate.
Aside from the initial conflict, the Soul Drinkers did not attack other imperial departments. Most departments remained neutral, thus avoiding giving others grounds for criticism.
"It inadvertently saved me a lot of trouble."
Romulus carefully recalled the stories about the Soul Drinkers from his memory, then shook his head.
The original history was not like this. After making contact with the Inquisition, the Soul Drinkers were unilaterally labeled as traitors and forced to rebel. During their escape, they not only broke out in a civil war but also offended the Brotherhood Chapters. In the end, when they were captured and put on trial by the Imperial Fist, they were completely alone.
As for the 'Spear of Souls' they've been searching for, well—
The mechanical engineering faculty didn't say anything, and no one else asked.
This weapon is a spear-shaped subspace rift weapon, and its description alone is of great research value.
It's important to know that, aside from a series of explosives, the only technology the Empire possesses capable of tearing open warp rifts is the incredibly massive warp engine.
Compared to the original historical events that were driven by greed, this current event is, frankly speaking, an attempt to challenge their authority.
Yes, Romulus is reasonable, and the Wings of Dawn are also exporting their universal values. Therefore, the actions of this bio-sage named Witt throughout this process have always been aimed at forcing the Soul Drinkers to launch an attack.
If the Soul Drinker acts rashly and confirms the betrayal, given the heretical nature of this warband—which mutates with the slightest influence of the warp—it's unlikely they'll be able to salvage the situation, and the Dawnwings won't try either.
Perhaps failing to protect a second-generation warband would damage the reputation of the Mechanicus among the many Astartes, while choosing to protect them would negate the Dawnwings' long-held mission of output, so either way, they would be at a disadvantage.
This sage probably never expected to encounter an Inquisitor who could receive supplies from the Dawn Sector, thus eliminating any need to acknowledge him, nor did he expect the Inquisitor to be willing to advise the Soul Drinkers to resolve internal issues through more official means.
This is the victory of the Wings of Dawn.
Romulus smiled as he looked at the dragon lord standing like a lackey in front of his seat.
The Dragon Lord knew what the other party was laughing about.
They like to exploit issues and engage in political maneuvering.
Now it's this person's turn to seize the opportunity to make a fuss.
Looking at Romulus, the dragon lord couldn't help but feel secretly fortunate.
Fortunately, they are inefficient, have weak ideas, and are timid. They have done nothing but observe for ten years. The Dawn Wings will not give up on uniting these moderates. As for those who are still unclear about what they are planning to do or who are already doing something,
They are dead.
The versions are changing way too fast.
"grown ups?"
"You should organize your representatives to leave the team in advance to prevent a conflict between the two sides."
Romulus ordered, "Turn over the document and begin revising the next one."
"The Dark Angels are in position immediately."
"Yes!"

Limitless Starfield, Incaladion Sector, Frontier Forged World
"Witt, Witt!"
Facing a dark and cold room, the Martian sage, Witt, stood frozen in place.
"Your accusation was indeed correct. The Soul Drinkers' genes are indeed problematic. During the warp tide tests promised by the Imperial Fist, we discovered numerous serious genetic mutations, including—"
The ally's voice was loud; he was a great sage of forging, who held a world-forging key.
He was in charge of the research on the Spear of Souls, and it was through this reward that Witt secured the help of this great sage who forged it.
And the news he brought was quite encouraging.
But Witt, the previously confident sage of biology, now felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave.
Inside the room, countless data points scrolled by.
This is all the evidence he has been collecting, with the aim of completely forcing the Soul Drinkers to rebel.
But at this moment, he ignored the data that he had reviewed day and night, hoping it would not have the slightest flaw, and stared blankly at a certain display screen.
Among them was a message that had been transmitted back from the other side of the Milky Way after three years.
How did it end so quickly?
Countless emotions exploded in my mind at this moment, eventually turning into a unified echo.
Bang!
Witt collapsed to the ground.
Despair climbed onto his face, which had undergone countless modifications and was now unrecognizable.
How could it be over already?
P.S.: I finished writing this during my slacking-off time, and after thinking about it, I decided to post it anyway.
What? I'm pretty good at writing, aren't I?
Dragon Lord: The council of the three-star mechanical sage components of Rath is a power institution similar to the High Lords, responsible for all aspects of the three-star mechanical guild of Rath. However, because it is composed of mechanical sages, it is more efficient.
