Chapter 296 The Influence of Khorne

Chapter 296 The Influence of Khorne

"I believe the Primarch will have a way to solve your problem."

Inside the sanctuary, filled with the scents of incense and holy oil, the flickering candlelight illuminated the golden ossuary containing the saint's remains, making it gleam.

Diego knelt on one knee, his fingers deftly adjusting the wiring interfaces of the Grossis Telemont power armor.

As a special force personally established by the Emperor and the 'Signmaster' Macado, the Grey Knights have an exaggerated requirement for secrecy due to the sensitivity of their work.

Normally, only the highest levels of the Terra Inquisition and the early Space Marine chapter commanders knew of the existence of this force. Any other armed forces or Imperial nobles who accidentally learned of the Grey Knights' existence would face severe punishment after the war.

Including but not limited to physical elimination, personality modification, memory alteration, and other methods.
Even those citizens of the Empire affected by the Chaos Events would face brutal extermination after the war.

But just like the Demon Tribunal, which claims that we must strictly prevent the influence of the warp and that anyone who dares to make a deal with warp demons should be punished, they secretly use demon hosts to manipulate those demons and try to lure them into betraying their colleagues with empty promises and KPIs.

Empires can be terrifyingly flexible in certain situations.

Before the situation completely spirals out of control and can be dealt with to a minimum, the Grey Knights prefer to disguise themselves appropriately, such as by posing as an exorcist band.

In this way, they can temporarily escape the constraints of the Grey Knights' strict internal regulations, and avoid the extreme measures taken after the war that would further tear apart the fragile trust between the various armed factions of the Empire and cause more serious damage to the Empire itself.

The most typical example is the First Battle of Armageddon.

Among the forces that participated in the fight against the Khorne army, the Third Brotherhood's "Lord of the Sentinels" made a rational decision: to only cleanse the forces directly contaminated by the Blood God's ritual, while preserving the pure forces stationed on the other side of the planet.

This decision was even tacitly approved by the Space Wolves, who then provided them with assistance in the subsequent exile of the demonic Primarch Angron.

As a result, the Eighth Brotherhood, the "Seekers," insisted on forming a joint inquisition after the war to purge all the combat units that had formed alliances with the Wolf Pack.

Ultimately, even if those mortal troops eventually become corrupted, what's wrong with letting those who participated in the fight against the demons stay behind to avoid conflict between them?
The elite troops killed in the subsequent clashes between the two sides were enough to fight another Battle of Amighadoun.

"Hopefully."

Grossis remained noncommittal to his companion's words, gazing intently at the silver mirror before him, focusing on the prophecy within.

As is well known, the number of Grey Knights is far less than the number of Chaos enemies they need to deal with, so they often rely on prophets to observe the warp through the Silver Mirror for clues.

It is through this silver mirror that prophets are able to see those things that will bring countless disasters to mankind in the future, and select the things they consider important before they happen, and prevent them from happening.

They saw countless mottled warp entities swimming in the waves, like a school of hunting fish circling a bright light, while a vague and ever-changing silhouette loomed behind the scene, leaving a long black shadow.

Then, the surrounding light dissipated with each bite, and the surroundings became empty.

The light in the mirror gradually dimmed with each tearing and biting, and finally went out completely.

The entire scene fell into dead silence, with only the greedy predators fleeing in panic.

And at this moment——

The ethereal outline moved.

It swept up like an invisible abyss, and with each strike, several demons vanished into thin air. Grossis saw a Khorne Bloodletter still baring its fangs and claws, but the next second it disappeared without a trace, as if a pencil drawing had been erased by an eraser.

In the end, only absolute nothingness remained in the mirror, and even the slightest ripples in the subspace returned to calm.

As experts in prophecy and divination, the Grey Knights gradually came to realize what the terrifying future hinted at in the prophecies was.

This is Ramses.

Or rather, this is the Primarch they are about to meet.

"."

But that's not what Grossis wanted to see.

He stared intently at the surface of the silver mirror, leaning forward, his knuckles white from the excessive force, as if he wanted to press his entire body into the mirror.

He wanted to see blood, to see war, to see the tangible threats that could be severed by the Grey Knight's sword.

The sound of the armor closing broke my thoughts, and the silver mirror returned to calm after a ripple.

He looked up, and the strange figures were no longer in his eyes. Instead, he saw a resolute-faced Imperial Guard staring at him.

"Marcus? When did he arrive?"

“Just now, Colleen knocked on the door but no one answered. Her mortal servants can’t understand her sign language, so I came over.” Captain Marcus of the Shield Guard frowned as he looked at the silver mirror, and his frown deepened when he noticed the human skeletons inside the sanctuary.

As a member of the Imperial Guard, he had no way of understanding the principles behind these warp magic spells, but even though the current state of the Empire made it inevitable for humanity to rely on these spells, he couldn't help but feel wary of them.

"You were so engrossed in your thoughts that you didn't even notice there was another person in the room."

He appropriately expressed his concerns.

After accepting the Primarchs' invitation, this Grey Knight showed an unusual obsession with the Primarchs' movements, as if he were eager to prove something.

Although he could control his emotions, and there had never been a case of a Grey Knight betraying him in the past ten thousand years, such a state was still too abnormal for a warrior.

"Feel sorry."

Grossis replied apologetically, "I allow the Colleen sisters to freely enter and leave my area."

His condition was indeed quite poor, though not to the point of betrayal.

But he could feel his anger at the current situation caused by the artifact fragments, as well as his obsession with Angron himself.

These emotions affected him so profoundly that they interfered with his behavior to some extent.

"Is there anything else?"

After a brief moment of reflection, Grossis asked the question.

"It's about our login request."

"The Shield Guard Company Commander said."

"The planetary defense fleet has passed through."

Grossis looked surprised.

"They've already taken control of Armageddon?"

He remembered that when they agreed on the meeting place, the Primarchs were also on their way to investigate.

Is it all done?
"Lord Arthur is here as well."

"The Shield Guard Company Commander replied."

According to Navaradaren's report, Primarchs usually do not choose to act alone; at the very least, they stay in pairs and maintain constant contact.

Furthermore, the stability of subspace travel around the Amighidton system surprised them. Even the navigators of the Ruthless were filled with awe at the psionic light displayed by the Emperors along the way, and the Star Speakers also said that their Star Speaker communication was smoother than ever before.

Not surprising then.

Grossis activated the motion assistance system inside the armor and stretched his wrists slightly.

By Astartes standards, his current physical condition is appalling.

However, for the Grey Knights, physical combat ability is only an added bonus.

"let's go."

Diego glanced at his friend's retreating figure and shook his head.

In order to prevent their arrival from interfering with the Primarch's work and to ensure the secrecy of their actions, after passing the Imperial code certification, Grossis commanded the Ruthless to directly enter the naval port, but did not send out any shuttles.

Once the coordinates of the Dawnwings had been sent, Krom led the Imperial Guard and his colleagues onto the teleportation array.

A dazzling blue light flashed by, and their figures descended unimpeded onto the surface of Amighiddon, leaving only a faint smell of burning ozone in the air.

This is a warband consisting of one thousand controllable psionic Astartes.

On the warship's helipad, the solitary nun, led by the aircrew, boarded the shuttle while continuously gesturing in sign language towards the ground.

The language used was very vulgar.

P.S.: The next chapter will be a few minutes late. I suddenly realized I have some bugs to fix.
