Chapter 200 Today is your death day
Chapter 200 Today is your death day (4k)
Impek Main Star.
Today is destined to be long, with contemporary Dark Angels, eternal Dark Angels, the Dawn Fleet, and various Chaos factions.
Different stances and different desires lead to a fierce battle.
The sound of artillery fire was already approaching, and Zabril, who had taken over command, was working hard to restore order to Ansel City. With the assistance of other chapters, he was moving very quickly.
The Astartes who entered the city did not commit any offenses and even tried to maintain order, while the inner circle could easily guess what they would do.
They moved through the passageway wearing armor whose identities had been erased, unable to contact the inner circle and forced to rely solely on their experience.
Attack the arsenal, collect high-powered weapons, and attempt to overload the city's Void Shield battery to trigger a massive explosion.
Driven by their instinct to destroy everything, they began heading toward any area that could reduce the city to ashes.
The sounds of battle shook the heavens. Countless unsuspecting soldiers, and even members of the outer ring, were killed by the silent and impatient knights. Storm-like roars and screams echoed through the night sky.
The situation is already very clear: Karna's main force of the Dawn Fleet is fighting against the Chaos Alliance. Facing these opponents who are chaotic in command, lack supplies, and are mentally deficient, Romulus, as the commander, has a terrifying number of cards in his hand.
Secondly, there will be the Dark Angels civil war, where Arthur and Ramses will target and eliminate some of the more difficult Chaos Lords.
-
Kai leaned against the wall behind him, sitting in the dim light inside the Stormbird.
A thick black cloak covered his power armor, and the wide hood obscured his face, as well as the unfathomable rage in his eyes.
Beside him, dozens of soldiers shrouded in darkness remained silent.
The deck inside the Stormbird shuddered as it passed through the atmosphere of Impek Prime, and he lowered his head, lost in the sensation.
"Entry successful. Preparing for landing. Destination in three minutes. Enemy side—"
The servo skull swept past Kai'er, broadcasting the enemy's strategic deployments and their combat characteristics.
He didn't need these reports; this wasn't the first time he'd faced these heavily armed fallen angels.
He had stood many times under a sky ravaged by war.
At that time, his armor was damaged, and he had to carefully use the fuel in his power backpack. The only observation instrument available to their team was Roch's sniper scope.
He could determine his location and calculate how much time was left until landing simply by observing the ship's subtle adjustments and yaws.
It was two seconds less than the servo skull estimate.
For the same reason, Kai has turned off external image transmission and tactical projection display.
He no longer needed to observe his surroundings, listen to the muscle fibers repeating countless times in his body, or listen to the tactics that had already appeared in his mind through nerve conduction.
Kay knew all too well the enemies who had caused him to wander from place to place.
"One minute to go."
Kai leaned back.
He moved his shoulders and neck, his knuckles cracking as he pinched them.
The wind emanating from the ship's hull licked the earth.
He loosened the fasteners on his feet.
The Stormbirds' drop hatch slid open.
He stood there for a while, the roar of the gunboat's propellers gradually turning into a soft whimper, while the screams of gushing blood gradually rose from his torso.
"Action, begin!"
As the assault deck descended, Kai roared out the operational orders before leaping into the battlefield.
Behind him, countless black knights fell.
boom!
The grey stone passageway stretched out beneath Kai's feet, and the towering arches of the Hermitage cast spiderweb-like shadows, from which countless eyes seemed to be watching.
This is a corner deliberately erased by history, a sanctuary built of shame and sin, a place of unspeakable massacre of the native inhabitants by the Mechanic Church.
Above the dome, the ancient heroes of Impek stand eternally.
Their stone-carved faces have long been weathered and blurred, but the two swords in their hands are still sharp and menacing. One sword points straight at the stars, as if swearing an oath to the emperor, while the other hangs down to the earth, as if suppressing some unspeakable existence.
Dark red rust is faintly visible in the cracks of the base, blackened by the flames of war, like wounds that never heal.
Kay's cloak swept across the ashes deposited on the ground, the fine grayish-white powder swirling in the airflow.
Kai took another step, then stopped, his gaze fixed on the slight movement near the nearest statue.
A squad of Flamewing Raiders stood atop the rivets on the giant statue's shoulder armor.
Five devout priests lurked in the shadows, following him as he approached the ruined temple.
All the ornaments and insignia on their shoulders were stripped away, leaving only the chapter's emblem; they resembled the twin shadows of the Flamewing Raiders standing in the light.
Even their helmets were decorated in a bone-white color, a symbol of death, and in the dim light, only the faintly flashing crimson optical sights gave them away.
Kai glared at them with murderous intent, slowly revealing the sharp blade in his hand.
Snapped!
In the next instant, the step had already created spiderweb-like cracks in the ground.
Kai is missing.
Until countless sparks suddenly exploded.
clang--
The blades clashed, sparks flying, which froze the inner knight.
But before the barrage of comments could even begin, Kai had already retreated.
Swish!
The blade grazed the neck, and the headless corpse knelt down.
Kai, who had retreated, bent down again, listening to the echo of the blade cutting through flesh.
He lowered his head and bent down to slash behind him.
Click.
Another huge head flew up.
The look of confusion still lingered in his eyes beneath the goggles.
I don't understand why the enemy is so strong, and I don't understand why the inner ring forces haven't provided timely fire support.
boom! boom! boom!
Stray bullets grazed past, leaving shallow craters in the ground. Kai didn't move, sheathed his sword, and continued his charge.
The undercover agent disrupted the enemy's tactical deployment, the veteran completed a one-on-one duel, and the think tank began to locate the next target.
After a brief encounter, everyone completed their tasks.
Because they are fully armed, because they are stronger and more powerful.
"Where is your highness?"
Kai asked.
"His Highness will not interfere with how we deal with the enemy, just as he will not allow this hatred to interfere with the future of the legion."
Gareth replied, savoring the prince's address to the entire delegation.
"They are the enemy, they hate us, that's all."
"I understand."
Kai nodded.
The dark procession continued its march, braving the cold wind as it traveled along the gray road.
Within the forged city, the Imperial Cathedral collapsed, and ancient texts were engraved on a plaque made of countless gears and steel plates.
What mortals cannot accomplish, the emperor sends his warriors to do.
They are the antidote to weak flesh and afflicted thoughts, and it is these very sins that prevent people from achieving great things.
He sent his warriors to bear the burden of life and death, in order to achieve the prosperity and glory of mankind.
Such a burden was like poison to the blood of his warriors, so the emperor sent his executioners to grant the tormented release.
-
The biting wind howled, and the subspace weapon's ultra-low temperatures stirred up snow and wind, making the scenery in sight even more blurred.
Nagil and Ezekiel gathered the last remaining force they could contact, more than ninety inner-ring knights, who formed a ring-shaped defensive array and approached the starport area.
Surrounding them were dark angels who concealed themselves using psychic abilities and were gradually converging on this remnant army.
The group of knights, averaging nearly three meters in height, silently watched the marching army.
They are waiting for a signal.
"Are you ready?"
Ramses, far away in the stratosphere, reached out and lifted it up.
Ezekiel, who was forcefully using his psychic powers to guide the group forward, paused.
Whoosh! The snow squeezed between the hood and the gaps suddenly fell, and the tall, strong body was lifted into the air.
Boom!
All the think tanks, including Ezekiel, seemed to be grabbed by an invisible hand and slammed heavily onto the adamantite pillar, instantly triggering a state of suspended animation and causing them to lose consciousness.
"The Avengers".
Kai growled and drew his sword first.
The black-armored warriors behind him were like nightmares materialized from the shadows, their cold weapons flashing in unison. The hum of dozens of powered weapons resonated in the corridor, evaporating the falling snowflakes into a pale mist.
"kill!"
This roar stirred up a storm.
The black-armored torrent instantly engulfed the corridor, and the sound of the precision-engineered power boots shattering the floor tiles was like the sound of war drums.
The first fallen angel to engage had just raised his explosive gun when he was torn to shreds by three intersecting sword beams, his splattered flesh and blood vaporized by the force field before he even hit the ceiling.
Ezekiel on the load-bearing column suddenly twitched; the nerve bundles in its suspended animation were still instinctively trying to raise an alarm.
But all communication channels were filled with an eerie silence, with only the precise tactical exchanges of the black-armored warriors during their slaughter echoing through the channels; they were all too familiar with the enemy's methods.
Ten thousand years have passed, yet all that remains is regression.
Two jet-black iron streams collided, each movement resembling a death dance rehearsed countless times.
As Kai's blade pierced a guard's throat, the tip of the sword rested precisely on the legion's insignia.
As the enemy's corpse slowly slid down, the blood-stained eagle wing emblem split in two beneath the sword's edge.
"."
He flicked the ashes from the tip of his sword and pointed it at Nagil, who was now enraged.
"repent!"
Resentment, anger, and pain.
Almost all the negative emotions condensed at this moment, turning into a roar that burst out of his throat.
However, this could not turn the tide of the battle.
If the loudest voice can change the course of a battle, then what's the point of making demands on the training and equipment of an army?
boom!
The disintegrating force crackled as Nagil struggled to parry Kai's slashes.
He attempted to use the opportunity to move to the flanks and attack areas of the armor that were difficult for an individual to maintain after a long battle; these areas were often more vulnerable.
He tried to deal with them the same way he had dealt with other fallen angels in the past.
However, the other party is clearly very different from before.
Unparalleled swordsmanship, unmatched physical attributes, and superior advanced power armor.
Despite Nagil's extensive combat experience, Kai's sword still grazed his chest during the brief exchange, leaving a gash in the hard terracotta armor and forcing him to retreat hastily.
Ke Kai lunged forward again, slamming his shoulder armor into Nagil's wound, knocking him to the floor.
When everyone had finished their battles and saw Nagil, the chapter commander, suffer a setback, their faces were filled with schadenfreude. No one thought that Kai had delayed the battle.
Investigate his crimes and bring him to trial.
There's no need to label them as traitors; a thousand-year hunt and six blood debts are enough to establish the hatred between them.
"traitor."
Najir was pinned to the ground as a power sword slashed across the back of his neck, severing his spinal cord.
Thanks to Your Highness for the training; each of them has an exceptionally clear understanding of the Astartes' physical structure.
"What traitor? Subverting the Legion? Betraying the Primarch? Hunting down brothers?"
Kai's voice sounded like it was being squeezed out from between his teeth, each word carrying millennia of resentment.
He ripped off Najir's shattered helmet, revealing the man's blood-stained face, and then punched Najir hard in the face.
Gareth dragged the chained fallen angel over, blue arcs of electricity crackling across the armor's surface as he threw the captive heavily beside Nagil.
“We don’t know why the Caliban broke apart, but we clearly remember every hunt that targeted us.”
Gareth's voice was eerily calm as he crouched down and forced Nagil to look directly into his eyepiece.
"You should be glad that you were executed as a persecutor, rather than being infamous for being a traitor."
Nagil spat out a mouthful of blood, which stained Gareth's kneecaps red.
"A lie! The lion's offspring will never—"
"I don't need your approval!"
Gareth suddenly sprang into action, grabbing Nagil by the throat and lifting him up. The armor's servo system groaned under the strain of brute force.
"Do you think I want to see your faith crumble and you regret it? Do you think I want you to agree with my ideas?"
The wall cracked with spiderweb-like patterns upon impact, and fragments of ancient murals fell in a flurry.
Gareth's visor was almost pressed against Nagil's distorted face.
"I just want you to die, I just want you to disappear, I just want to give my brothers who have also suffered unjustly an explanation."
Najir returned a cold stare.
His faith will not crumble, and he will not condone the ideas of these traitors.
He didn't care about the truth.
All he needs to do is ensure that the warband is loyal and that the warband is untainted.
It must be this way, it can only be this way.
Even with his face covered in blood, the obsession in his eyes was still sharp and piercing, burning with some inhuman, mechanically stubborn flame.
That wasn't the fury of a warrior, but the madness of a fanatic burning heretics.
"."
Look at Najir, look into those eyes.
His cold, insane rage made him seem unlike an Astartes.
He suddenly understood His Highness's worries—this was not a debate about loyalty versus betrayal, but a relentless, life-or-death struggle between two fragments torn apart by the torrent of history.
"Leave it to you."
By handing it over to the think tank, Lord Ramses' advisors in the warp will carefully extract every secret from it, and then their infiltration plan against the Dark Angels will begin.
Everything should not have been so violent, and those accidental injuries and deaths should not have occurred.
But that's it.
The guards stepped forward and lifted Nagil up. A hoarse laugh escaped from his broken throat, as if from some broken vocal cord.
"Your Highness is right. This is a personal grudge between us, and it shouldn't be categorized as one side being loyal to the other."
Seeing Nagil's appearance only strengthened Gareth's resolve.
If they continue to cling to the past glory of the Fallen Angels' inner circle of loyalty, they will eventually become like that themselves.
Fortunately, they still have a chance.
Withdrawing his gaze, Gareth looked up at the sky, where, behind the thick clouds, the lights of the orbital fleet could be faintly seen twinkling like stars.
They also have His Highness.
"Let's go."
Gareth turned around, the power armor humming softly in the silence.
"Our mission is not over yet."
Inside the Stormbird, the think tanks had already set up the soul connection device. Najir was bound to the adamantite chair, his head wrapped in mechanical tentacles, his memories to be peeled away and analyzed inch by inch.
Gareth strode away, and behind him came Nagil's last roar, like the dying howl of a wild beast, or some kind of twisted vow.
But he didn't look back.
They still have a chance.
They still have a future.
This is enough.
