Mystery: Who has seen my brother?
Chapter 6 Mysterious Space
Chapter 6 Mysterious Space
Eve returned to the house, but it was empty and Ouroboros had not returned yet.
The girl threw herself back on the bed, lying on her back thinking that after the city patrol team's salary was paid, she could go and exchange some paper and make some missing person notices.
There probably isn't a City Appearance Bureau in this world.
After Ouroboros comes back, I will try that ritual. Hmm... Then I will throw Ouroboros out.
Eve lay in bed waiting for Ouroboros to come back. She waited for a long time, so long that Eve began to think about the possibility that Ouroboros was kidnapped, when Ouroboros finally came back with the pancake.
Eve jumped off the bed, took the two pancakes from Ouroboros's arms with one hand, and with the other hand pushed the little boy's back and pushed him out the door, "Wait for me outside for a while."
Ouroboros opened his beautiful silver eyes, nodded obediently, and didn't ask anything.
"So good." Eve rubbed the boy's head, the soft silver hair felt nice. Then she slammed the door shut, blocking the well-behaved boy out.
Breaking the two pieces of dough apart, placing them in the four corners, Eve stood in the center and took four steps counterclockwise, muttering softly as she walked:
"Fusheng Xuanhuang Immortal Lord."
"Fusheng Xuanhuang Tianjun."
"The God of Blessing and Prosperity Xuanhuang."
"Fusheng Xuanhuang Tianzun."
A sense of rising came over Eve, and she felt as if she was floating up, like a feather drifting in the wind. She floated very far away, to an unknown space.
Seven streams of light were suspended beneath her feet, but when she looked up, the same seven streams of light were also suspended in the sky. In this unknown space, direction had lost its meaning.
In a distant and unreachable place, an ancient bronze castle stands in the gray fog.
Eve had a strange feeling that came out of nowhere. "I want to go there," she murmured to herself.
Her body flew towards the castle as her mind directed it. She kept flying, and it seemed like she had been flying for a very long time. However, no matter how long she flew, she could not get even a little bit closer to the bronze castle.
It was like…it rejected her.
Eve stopped and no longer chased the castle that did not belong to her. She looked up curiously at the seven-colored lights. They were far away in the sky and yet so close. It was so magical, the girl exclaimed.
She stretched out her hand and flew upwards, wanting to see if she could catch the flowing light.
Suddenly, Eve's hair stood on end, and a sense of horror struck her heart. A gaze from an infinite distance was staring at her!
Eve's heart beat faster and her body stiffened, not daring to move.
My mind was screaming, "Leave! Leave!", and my body was surrounded by a sudden feeling of falling.
Eve suddenly opened her eyes, touched her rapidly beating heart and gasped for breath, her beautiful eyes scanning the surroundings.
There was nothing unusual. I was back in the room and the unknown gaze disappeared.
Eve slumped on the ground, smiling bitterly inwardly, "What a wonderful feeling! If it weren't for that last look, I would have done it again. I'll try again when I become stronger, hmm... at least to the level of the Goddess of Doom."
After calming down for a while, Eve stood up and jumped twice, then put away the bread, opened the door and asked, "Ouroboros, do you feel anything unusual?"
The little boy took his pancake from Eve and shook his head.
Eve breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "How long have I been in there?"
Ouroboros looked at her doubtfully while biting the bread, swallowed the food in his mouth, thought for a while, and finally said, "Not long."
Eve chuckled. This world had clocks; she'd seen them in Sasriel's study, but Ouroboros had no concept of time. But "soon" was enough. Eve had thought she'd been in that unknown space for a very, very long time.
After figuring out that she hadn't done anything unusual, Eve patted Ouroboros's shoulder in a good mood, glanced at the pancake and said, "I have a job now. I'll take you out for a nice meal tomorrow when I get my salary."
"Hmm." Ouroboros's reaction was flat, but his usually calm eyes were filled with curiosity and anticipation. This child, abducted by Eve's half-piece of bread, though his main goal was to escape the demon, was not a fool, but it was fair to say that he had only eaten raw food since birth and was very curious about the food that normal people ate.
"heresy!"
The angry rebuke rushed into the ears of the two people like thunder, and Eve was startled by the sudden scolding.
A very eye-catching handsome man with short golden hair rushed over. Drops of blood flowed from his eyes, dripped down his cheeks and onto his clothes, leaving a shocking blood mark on his face.
heresy!
Eve's heart suddenly skipped a beat, and she stopped herself from running. She stood still and let the blond man grab her. His hands were also bloody, and he was holding the girl's wrist tightly, staring at her intently, as if he wanted to eat her.
The ancient sun god valued her very much. This was Eve's guess after her contact with Sasriel and the ancient sun god.
The consequences of Eve's ritual weren't severe enough to warrant intervention from the ancient sun god, a suspicion she had reached after seeing the blond man. She also suspected the ritual was related to an unknown evil deity, a suspicion she derived from the term "heretic."
If Eve's guess was correct, then she had unknowingly performed a ritual involving the evil god, but it hadn't resulted in serious consequences, so her life should be safe. However, if she had just escaped, it would be difficult to prove she had nothing to do with the evil god, and she wouldn't be able to escape.
However, the real situation still depends on the guy in front of him. After all, Eve's knowledge of this world is quite scarce.
Several strong men followed and handcuffed Eve and Ouroboros. Judging from their attire, they did not seem to be from the city patrol team.
"I will report to the Lord immediately and judge you, you damn heretic!" the blond man shouted fiercely.
Report to the Lord?
After pondering for a moment, Eve asked, "Did the Sun God send you to arrest me?"
"Damn it," the blond man cursed. "You're a heretic indeed, actually addressing the Lord's name directly! How can a heretic like you be worthy of the Lord personally issuing an oracle?"
A smile flashed across Eve's eyes. "It seems that the situation is better than I thought." She thought happily in her heart. She lowered her head to hide her smile, and happened to see Ouroboros who was following her obediently. The happiness in her heart immediately disappeared.
If I had known this earlier, I would have found an opportunity to stay away from the city-state and try again, instead of implicating Ouroboros.
However, this also taught Eve a lesson: unknown rituals shouldn't be attempted casually. The thought that the ritual might be connected to an unknown evil deity filled her with dread. While this might be common sense in this world, Eve had been an atheist for over twenty years, and a change in her mindset wasn't something she could achieve overnight.
However, to be able to have a connection with God, does that ritual have to be very advanced? Well, if it wasn't advanced, it wouldn't allow her to travel through time.
While Eve's thoughts were wandering, the handsome man had already led them to the prison.
Unlike what Eve had imagined, this prison was neither eerie nor scary. The sunlight streaming in through the windows was even warm. The ground was clean, covered with a pile of hay, and on top of the hay, a mat was laid, which was the resting place.
The prison was small and one could see the whole thing at a glance. It only held two or three people, making it look empty.
"Come in." The man standing behind her suddenly exerted force and pushed the girl in.
Eve staggered two steps before she stood firm. Just as she was about to turn around and glare at the blond man, she suddenly noticed something strange.
Something seemed to be slowly emerging from her body.
It was a subtle feeling, so subtle that Eve thought it was an illusion. Not taking it lightly, the girl immediately calmed down and carefully felt it. Though the feeling was subtle, it was persistent and could not be an illusion.
Eve's face darkened, her intuition telling her that this was not a good thing.
What's going on? Is it because of the ritual I performed or is there something wrong with this place?
Eve stared at Ouroboros in the cell across from her and asked softly, "Ouroboros, do you feel anything strange?"
The silver-haired boy looked up at the girl, his dull eyes revealing a hint of confusion and helplessness, "Something is trying to escape from my body."
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I will take care of it." Eve looked at the frightened child and comforted him in a hurry.
"Yeah." Ouroboros nodded, the confusion and helplessness in his eyes disappeared, replaced by full trust and expectation.
"Don't be like this! I was just saying it casually. You're making it very difficult for me!" Eve looked calm as if everything was under her control, but she was actually shouting in her heart.
"Sigh," Eve sighed silently in her heart, squatted down, resting her forehead on her knees, and thought: "If the precipitation rate remains unchanged, it will take at least several months to completely precipitate. I wonder how long we will be locked up here."
Even prisoners have the right to know their crimes and the punishment they have received. It seems the ancient Sun God's rule hadn't advanced to that level; the judicial system was truly imperfect.
"Divination? But I don't have the tools right now. Dream divination is possible, but the revelations are so hard to understand." Eve thought gloomily, "It would be great if I could ask someone who knows the inside story."
Insider!
A black figure appeared in Eve's mind—Sasriel.
If Sasriel wanted to know, he would definitely find out, and he could also figure out what that feeling of something being precipitated was. If he was lucky, he could even try to get a reduced sentence.
As both are called "Your Highness", he and the Goddess of Misfortune should be on the same level. This level of existence can be felt just by calling her real name.
It’s free to try it anyway. If it doesn’t work, try dream divination.
I'm sorry, but I'm sorry, Sasriel. I will definitely repay you.
Eve did it right away. She leaned against the wall and whispered, "Sasriel, Sasriel, Sasriel, Sasriel..."
After an unknown amount of time, a calm yet helpless voice entered the girl's ears.
"Miss Eve, please stop reading."
