Chapter 422 Pales is heartbroken

Chapter 422 Pales is heartbroken

"Old man, old man, Mr. Fool just told me that Little K is all ready, we can go over now."

After a brief moment of "stunned silence," Leonard lowered his voice and said that after participating in the Fool's Club gathering, he naturally learned about the existence of the Fool. Some time ago, because of the matter of the descendants of Pales, he was pulled into the Source Castle as an intermediary. Because he was a relative, he directly joined the Tarot Club and became a "star".

Leonard wasn't opposed to this. As someone with connections, he knew more or less about the cooperation between the Church and Lucifer. Although he didn't know the inside story, he knew that the Goddess, the Fool, and Lucifer were allies, so he naturally wasn't opposed to joining an allied force.

"I understand." Pales revealed himself, nodded, glanced at Leonard who was muttering, "I wonder how Little K is doing now," and shook his head.

This silly student of his... well, he's lucky in a silly way.

Although he hadn't infiltrated Rolin's inner circle, as a seasoned veteran who had lived for thousands of years, Pales was naturally able to see how much Rolin and the others valued Klein. He knew very well that even if Klein didn't become the Lord of Mysteries in the future, becoming an Angel King would be a piece of cake, and he would be an Angel King with a powerful backer, which was far better than him, a helpless Sequence 1.

As Klein's good friend, Leonard naturally gets some benefits. Plus, with Klein as his grandfather, even if Leonard lives as a fool for the rest of his life, he won't have too much of a hard time.

Aside from being overwhelmed by exam papers... Pales glanced at Leonard, then suddenly curled his lips into a kind smile, but his words were rather cold: "Stop grinning like an idiot. Your former colleague is already at Sequence 5. What about you? When will you be able to advance to Spirit Witch?"

As he spoke, Pales shook his head and sighed, looking at other people's children with a "look at yours" expression.

Leonard opened his mouth upon hearing this, clearly feeling wronged, and after a long while, he finally said, "I've only just been promoted to Soul Master..."

He finally accumulated enough merits two days ago to be promoted to Soul Master. Now, it is estimated that it will be more than half a year before the next promotion, or even several years.

After all, advancing from Sequence 6 to Sequence 5 is no easy feat; many people in the church are stuck at this level and can never advance further.

"It's as if Klein's advancement took a long time. When he was an ordinary person, you were Sequence 8; when he was Sequence 8, you were Sequence 8; now he's Sequence 5, and you're only just reached Sequence 6. Sigh!" Pales recounted the timeline, then sighed again.

"Back then you told people that the protagonists of two eras had met, but now they seem to be the protagonists of their own era. What about you?"

“He’s called Little K now!” Leonard first corrected Palles’s way of addressing his friend, then said, “How can I compare to Little K? He’s so good. I’m just an ordinary person.”

Although Leonard once fantasized about being a protagonist of an era during his teenage years, the harsh reality has long since brought him back to reality, making him realize that he is just an ordinary person.

“And…” Leonard protested in a low voice, “I’m already very good at Sequence 6 at my age.”

He's only in his early twenties, considered a young talent in the church! There aren't many people more talented than him.

"Heh!" Pales chuckled coldly twice, then sighed, his gaze towards Leonard now carrying a hint of disappointment rather than mockery. "Fine, I know you're naive, I can't really expect you to compare to others." Pales shook his head, then continued, "The key to digesting the Requiem Potion is calming the souls. I wandered around Backlund a couple of days ago and found several good places. Go there and perform a ritual to release those lost souls; that should help you digest the Requiem Potion faster."

Hearing this, Leonard's eyes lit up immediately, and he said, "Thank you, old man!" Then, as if remembering something, he asked with some doubt, "But haven't you been reading the newspaper at home these past few days? When did you go out?"

“I am an angel of the Thief pathway!” Pales rolled his eyes and said irritably, “Even if I don’t have clones all over the world like Amon, I still have clones.”

"Oh, I think so." Leonard nodded thoughtfully. It wasn't that he didn't know about the concept of clones, but he subconsciously ignored it because he saw Pales in front of him every day.

"Alright, get ready, we'll be there in a bit." Pales didn't bother to say anything more about the matter, afraid of getting himself angry, so he simply said, "If you have anything you want to bring to Little K, get it ready now, don't tell me you forgot something when we're about to leave."

"Oh, I'll go get ready right away." Leonard hurriedly ran to pack his things. He had recently visited the newlywed Captain and Ms. Daly, chatted with them about their recent situation, took a group photo, and also mentioned Little K—the Captain was very concerned about Little K's current situation and had specifically asked him to deliver a letter to him.

Leonard naturally wanted to take this opportunity to deliver the letter, and also to pack some local specialties he had bought while on missions in various places during this time, to bring to Little K and share his experiences with his friend.

……

While Leonard was frantically packing his things, Rowling and the others returned to the Future.

The Future is not much different now than when they left, except that there are two more people on board.

"Captain! You got here so quickly?" Danitz looked at Vice Admiral Edwina, who was talking to Cattleya, and suddenly stopped running over. Then his gaze fell on a figure next to him, and he widened his eyes and frowned, saying, "Anderson, what are you doing here?"

That's right, the two extra people on the Future are none other than Vice Admiral Edwina and Anderson, the strongest bounty hunter in the Misty Sea.

"If you can be here, why can't I?" Anderson gave Danitz a provocative smile, then continued, "You should be glad that I'm the one who accompanied your captain to the Future. At least I'm not your rival in love. If it were anyone else, tsk!"

Anderson shook his head as he spoke, giving off a "you're in trouble" vibe.

Who knows if you're my rival in love? You even pulled the captain's hair... Danitz gritted his teeth. He was still somewhat wary of Anderson. After all, although in literary stories, childhood sweethearts often couldn't compete with unexpected love, in reality, there were far too many childhood sweethearts who became lovers.

"Haha, I see wariness, jealousy, and stereotypes in your eyes. Save it, kid. You'd be better off wary of the guy behind you than me." Anderson spoke to Danitz first, then his gaze fell on Rollin, and he said, "Friend, you're a bit too handsome. Is that face even real?"
