Chapter 338 Nyarlathotep's Instinct

Chapter 338 Nyarlathotep's Instinct

"Perhaps you wouldn't mind trying some flower tea?" the Goddess of the Night said, as she brewed a cup of flower tea for Rolin, garnished with Deep Sleep flowers.

Luo Lin smiled, picked up the flower tea, took a sip, and said, "It has a very unique flavor. I think it will probably bring you a good dream."

The Goddess of the Night smiled and did not deny it. She also picked up her flower tea, took a sip, and said, "I like dreams, not only because they are the power I possess, but also because only in dreams can I see those who have passed away."

Rowling looked at Him without any hesitation and said, "If you want to see your family, for the sake of our cooperative relationship, I can let you see them. Although it will only be a short reunion, it should give you some comfort."

"Thank you." The Goddess of Night smiled, this time a more genuine smile, less formulaic.

He set down his teacup, his eyes, which evoked the stillness of the night, looked at Roland, and said, "But I don't think your sudden visit is solely to fulfill my wish. So, is there something you need me to do?"

Upon hearing this, Rolin smiled and, without intending to keep him in suspense, said straightforwardly, "Antigonus is in your hands, and I may need to borrow him for a while."

The Goddess of the Night paused for a moment upon hearing this, probably not expecting such an answer. She looked at Rolin and asked, "I think Klein Moretti hasn't reached the point where he needs to accommodate uniqueness yet, or has the pollution in Bethel been resolved?"

In the Goddess of Night's understanding, there are basically only two situations in which Rolin would need to use Antigonus: the first is to help his friend advance in rank, and the second is naturally when Mr. Door returns and is about to become the Lord of Mysteries. Both situations require the use of the Mysterious Servant characteristics and uniqueness of Antigonus.

As for helping Antigonus become the Lord of Mysteries, the Goddess of Night hadn't considered that possibility, because it was obvious to everyone that a certain demon wolf couldn't do such a thing.

“First of all, Xiao Zhou has changed his name. He is now Klein Moretti. If you think the name is too long, you can just call him Klein Moretti,” Rowling corrected with a smile.

"Secondly, the reason I need to borrow Antigonus is for some personal reasons."

For personal reasons… A thoughtful look flashed in the eyes of the Goddess of Night. She hesitated for a moment before looking at Rolin and saying, “Antigonus is not important, but the uniqueness that belongs to the Fool is important.”

Even if one of Mr. Men or Amon becomes the Lord of Mysteries, they still need a Mysterious Servant trait and the Fool's uniqueness. The Mysterious Servant trait is alright, as there are others besides the one on Antigonus, but the uniqueness is truly unique.

Although uniqueness is theoretically difficult to be tainted or destroyed, the one in front of her was, after all, Rolin, so the Goddess of the Night couldn't help but feel some concern.

“I know what I’m doing and won’t act recklessly.” Rolin naturally understood what He was worried about, smiled, and said, “Don’t forget, I’m the one who most wants the Lord of Mysteries to be born. Both Little K and Bethel are my good friends, and I want them to get what they want more than anyone else.”

Hearing this, the goddess of night seemed somewhat relieved. She probably weighed the pros and cons of the matter, then nodded and said, "I have sealed Antigonus in a special place. You may know where that is."

Then the Goddess of Night flipped her hand, and a key appeared in her palm. It was probably a newly formed key, exuding a sense of freshness.

"This is a key formed from my power. You can use it to freely enter and exit that place. The coordinates are..." The Goddess of Night handed the key to Roland and told him the coordinates of the Misty Town.

"Thank you," Roland said politely, then looked at the Goddess of the Night and asked, "So, do I need to pay anything for this?"

“No, it’s not necessary.” The Goddess of Night shook her head and said, “You’ve already paid for this, haven’t you?” Roland smiled. He knew what the Goddess of Night meant; it was naturally about allowing Him a brief reunion with His family.

So, while Silver City and Moon City were stationed at their respective outposts, Sasriel, who was engrossed in his work, was suddenly transported back to the past.

"What happened?" Sasriel was a little confused, but he could guess that Rolin had canceled the summons, probably because there was something that required summoning someone else to handle.

"You're back? How did it go?" The Sun God spoke gently from the side. He was very concerned about the results of this experiment, so he had been staying by Sasriel's side all this time, and even took the rare opportunity to share some of the work with his poor vice-ruler.

Sasriel then realized that because Rolin had only just canceled the summons, His will remained in the future and had not yet returned to the past to inform His true self about the success of the experiment and Rolin's proposed rules.

Thinking of this, Sasriel quickly looked at the Sun God and recounted the events that would happen in the future in detail.

Even the sun god, after hearing Sasriel's words, fell silent, and only after a long while did He speak:

"We should all be thankful that he chose humanity."

What Saslil could see, how could the sun god not see? He even saw it more comprehensively.

“I think so too.” Sasriel nodded, agreeing with the original body’s view, and added, “This power is dangerous, but in any case, it is indeed an opportunity.”

"I know." The sun god did not deny it. His golden eyes were slightly unfocused, as if he was recalling some past events, some past events that had long been blurred.

After a moment, the sun god looked at his vice-ruler again and said, "Your choice is not wrong. We need this power, but at the same time, we must also restrain ourselves."

The Sun God looked at Sasriel and said, "Don't have too much faith in Rolin's self-control. He certainly doesn't want the world to become stagnant, but He won't mind using this to observe us and to observe human nature."

Sasriel's body jolted, realizing what was happening.

If Rolin were here and heard the Sun God say this, he would probably be very pleased, because the Sun God truly understood him. Of course, Rolin wouldn't want the world to become a stagnant pool, nor would he want everyone to live as puppets of the rules, but if the Sun God and others didn't realize the traps in this power and things really got out of control, he really wasn't going to stop them.

Because Rowling respects his friend's choice, even if that choice was the result of his deliberate guidance.

Because Rolin possesses the power to cancel the rules at any time, a temporary stagnation of civilization is perfectly acceptable to him. He would be happy to pay such a price to observe the Sun Gods' loss of control and to see what choices humanity would make in such a world: whether to choose a silent and peaceful life or to rebel for freedom.

This was a deep-seated flaw etched into his soul, an instinct belonging to Nyarlathotep. Even Rolin couldn't completely erase this instinct; he had only learned to resist it. But this self-control wasn't always effective, so sometimes all it took was a push from the side, such as the fall of a good person, and Rolin would embrace this instinct.
