Arcanum: Chaos Path

Chapter 309 The sun only bows to the Lord.

Chapter 309 The sun only bows to the Lord.
At this moment, Ocycus felt no joy, only endless astonishment, disbelief, and a fear that almost completely enveloped him.

If He became God, if He became the sun, then what about the Lord?
Ocycus instinctively searched for the Lord's figure, but He saw nothing.

No, it wasn't that he saw nothing at all. Osekus saw Leodorus change as if beyond his control, becoming the Lord of Storms, and Herabergen followed him, becoming the god of the White Tower Path.

The sun god thus perished, and the three of them became the most shameful traitors.

Ocycus was finally able to remain lucid for a long time, at the cost of the fall of His Lord.

After that, the Kingdom of God fell apart, and the eight former angel kings went their separate ways. Medici and Ulrich chose to follow the true creator, a product of the fusion of Sasriel's negative emotions with the Lord, who seemed to believe that it was still the Lord.

Adam and Amon did not make the same choice as Medici and the other two; they did not seem to acknowledge that it was the Lord.

Coincidentally, Osekus thought so too.

How could that be the Lord?
Even Sasriel is no longer there!
Ocycus could not accept that such a mad god was once the sun god, nor could he forgive himself for causing the complete fall of the Lord. But he hated Leodorus and Herabergen, who had also caused the Lord's fall, even more.

Perhaps they, like Him, were not in control of their own destiny, but so what?

Ocycus hated himself, so how could he not hate them?
But Oscythus hated God the most, the original creator who had been resurrected within Him and was controlling everything.

Ironically, no matter how much Osekus hated the other party, he couldn't do anything about it. He was so weak and powerless in front of the other party, and even after being promoted to Sequence 0, his situation seemed to have not changed at all.

No, they are different.

Oscythus would sometimes think this way when he looked in the mirror: God's will was revived within him, and he lost most of his self, but also learned some secrets that others did not know.

Therefore, Oscythus knew that God seemed prepared to cooperate with the fallen Mother Goddess.

"How could I possibly let you do that, at least..."

"You will never use my body to do these things again."

Osekus looked at himself in the mirror, thinking this, and then suddenly gave a self-deprecating laugh.

He should have done it long ago. If He had chosen to end His own life before everything happened in the Third Age, would everything have been different?
Oscythus was unaware that He was simply preparing in silence. The proud sun was unwilling to bow to God again; He would rather face death than become a vessel for God to wreak havoc on this world.

But Oscythus never imagined that in this era of impending doom, as He prepared for the end, He would meet the person He could never see again.

What he never expected was that after learning everything, that person would look at him so calmly and tell him, "It's not your fault."

But how could this not be His fault?

This is clearly His fault!
"Thank you for all these years, Osekus."

When Oscythus heard the sun god say this, the other even patted him on the head as usual, as if nothing had changed.

Why...don't you hate me?

Oscythus's voice was hoarse. He looked up at the sun god, his eyes filled with an indescribable complexity, his voice sounding like an accusation: "Why don't you hate me! You should hate me!" "I caused all of this, I caused your downfall, I... became God's puppet!"

As he continued questioning, Osekus's voice trembled at the very end.

The sun god looked at Oscythus and seemed to sigh. He then said, "If we follow your logic, shouldn't I hate myself the most?"

Osekus was stunned for a moment, looking at the sun god in disbelief.

The Sun God calmly replied, “You say your mistake was becoming a puppet of God, but so did I. In that era, I too became a puppet of God, didn’t I? The Primal Awakened within me, and I had no choice but to perish.”

"It was precisely because I chose to fall as a means that God was given the opportunity, so the culprit for my fall is clearly myself." The sun god said this, which was quite reasonable and well-founded.

“No, that’s not it…” Osekus instinctively retorted. He wasn’t bad with words, but at this moment he was a little speechless, and could only say, “How could this be your fault? This is clearly God’s fault!”

“Yes, so you know, it’s all God’s fault.” The sun god finally smiled, a smile that was even slightly cunning. He looked at Oscythus gently and said, “Oscythus, it’s all God’s fault, and you and I are both victims.”

“No…” Osekus still wanted to argue.

But the sun god interrupted Him first, His expression turning serious as He looked at Osekus and said, "Do you think I am the kind of harsh person who demands perfection from my victims?"

“How could that be? The Lord is most merciful…” Osekus instinctively shook his head.

“In that case, how could I blame you, Oscythus?” the sun god said earnestly.

Osekus pursed his lips, speechless, and could only stare silently at the sun god before him. After a long while, he said in a dry voice, "But I cannot forgive myself, my lord."

The sun god seemed to sigh again, and looking at Ocycus, he spoke once more: "Ocycus, are you still willing to believe in me?"

“I am willing to follow the Lord forever,” Osekus said without a moment’s hesitation.

“Since you are still willing to believe in me, Oscythus, I command you not to be so hard on yourself.” The sun god looked at Oscythus and said seriously, “I do not want the child I have watched grow up to live a life of suffering because of a mistake that he should not have to bear.”

Ocycus's body trembled, and He fell into a long silence. Suddenly He said, "No, Lord, you can no longer come near me, you can no longer trust me. I... the Primal has awakened again within me. I am not worthy of your trust."

"I don't even know whether my current actions are out of my own will or His will."

He looked up at the sun god and suddenly said seriously, "Now that you have returned, then... kill me!"

"Don't let God rise again in my body!"

At this moment, Ocycus seemed to forget that the sun god was merely a time traveler temporarily staying in this era, and that He was simply instinctively yearning for redemption and liberation.

The proud sun will not bow to God, but it is always willing to give everything for its Lord.
