Chapter 784 Bloodbath Between the Two Sides, Overlapping Areas
abyss.
The 1121st floor is a battlefield of bloodshed.
The watchtower of Bloodbath Fortress pierced the murky sky of the abyss, its ancient protective runes humming low under the corrosive influence of the sulfur winds and the shrieks of souls.
The astral elf, Arian, leaned against the cold stone wall. His long hair, like solidified stardust, was gently ruffled by the blood-scented wind, and his silver skin appeared exceptionally serene in the dim light of the fortress's shield.
These are true spirits from the astral plane.
They are quite different from the spirits in the world of Kanagawa, as evidenced by their external energy manifestations.
His ability to come to the battlefield and participate in this war is enough to prove that he is exceptionally strong.
Judging from the appearance of this elf, one can tell that he might be a warrior of some god among the elves.
Of course, he wasn't the only one in this watchtower.
Minotaur Groom Stonehoof sat cross-legged in the corner, his massive body resembling a weathered boulder, his huge metal nose ring swaying gently with his heavy breathing.
The terrifying battle axe lay across his scarred knee.
Minotaur either wields a giant battle axe or an exaggerated totem pole.
In battle, they will always be at the forefront.
Tauren are rarely seen on watchtowers; they are mostly sent up temporarily to keep watch while they rest.
The Crow-men scout, Karas, crouched atop the highest battlement, his glossy black feathers and sharp eyes habitually scanning the scorched wasteland outside the fortress, repeatedly plowed by the flames of war.
These are the soldiers who should truly be on the watchtower; they are the most suitable reconnaissance units in Bloodbath Fortress, and also among the few air units.
The three of them weren't chatting, which made the atmosphere rather quiet.
“That ‘overlapping shadow’ in the northwest,” the crow-man Karas suddenly spoke, his voice like the grinding of sand, “looks even thicker today. Time is churned into a paste there.”
He pointed with the tip of his wing at the distorted, light-distorted space in the distance.
This morning... or maybe this morning, he went there to scout again.
Find a topic to break the silence; it's too quiet, and that's not the feeling he likes.
This shitty abyss is already unbearable.
The Minotaur Groom let out a deep snort, making his nose ring jingle softly.
"Hmph, which idle god is up to something new in the abyss this time? Is this godforsaken place already chaotic enough?"
Those who stayed behind felt somewhat awkward.
After all, this abyss was originally their world, but they couldn't resist the invasion of demons, and the whole world was dragged into the abyss.
Those demons and evil gods are of course the most disgusting things.
But the gods who were messing around on this bloody battlefield also made him somewhat uncomfortable.
This is, after all, their home.
As a minotaur, he could still feel the earth's extremely weak breathing.
"It may not necessarily cause trouble."
Elf Erian's gaze also fell on the blurry area, his voice calm, "Karas, didn't you fly up and see it? I heard that during the previous war, a group of demons rushed in, but they disappeared without a trace."
As an elf, he needed to know more and guessed some of the situation.
"Ah."
Karas tapped his beak. "About thirty berserkers, led by a few Floods. Anyway, there were quite a few. The exact number was too much to count at the time because the fighting was too fierce."
"At the time, the investigation was mainly to prevent the demons from pulling some new tricks. Later, we found out that they weren't. They said the howling was quite loud, so we rushed in... and then that was it."
"It was gone in half a day. Later, the layers overlapped even more deeply, and it became impossible to see what was going on there."
"The demon that went in was completely gone. It was eerily quiet there, not a sound could be heard. It must have been cleanly and efficiently dealt with by something, without even a chance to struggle."
The main problem is that no demons escaped.
In the beginning, the overlap wasn't very deep, and that area was still clearly visible, but back then no one paid attention to the scouts; they just noticed them briefly.
Now, if we go to investigate, we won't be able to see anything clearly.
"Clean up?" Groom narrowed his brown eyes, his thick fingers rubbing the axe handle. "There aren't many things in the Abyss that can take down a squad of demons so cleanly. Our tribe's old shaman has been acting strangely lately, saying he's working for a 'new sprout' god, whose power is 'fresh' but... not to be underestimated."
There are only so many Tauren left, and now only one tribe remains inside the Bloodbath Fortress. Everyone knows exactly what they're doing.
Arian raised his silver-gray eyebrows slightly: "'New Sprout'? You mean the 'Blood Silver Savior'? There have been some vague rumors about him in the Fortress lately."
"It is said that this being is extremely young, as if it had just been born, but the 'order' power it displays is quite solid. However... it seems that no one has actually seen it make a move, or rather, no one can accurately identify its actions."
After all, the news of this deity had only been circulating for a short time, and no one knew what he was there for.
When they first heard the news, everyone was happy because they had gained strong reinforcements and were looking forward to seeing the enemy on the battlefield.
As a result, after several consecutive battlefield clashes without seeing the other side, the conflict gradually subsided.
People thought it was just a rumor, and assumed that the deity, who was just passing by, would be permanently stationed there.
But he clearly didn't think so, after all, he was an elf and knew more information.
“Bloodsilver Savior?” Karas tilted his head. “That name sounds… powerful, but it’s followed by ‘Savior.’ A god who dares to use that title can’t be neutral, right? Probably on the Order of Good?”
The title of a god is not given arbitrarily; it is strongly related to power and is recognized by the world or the astral plane.
The name of a god is a manifestation of his power and his mind.
This is very important for mortal beings, as it allows them to judge whether a deity is the one they desire and should worship.
“The title of savior is not something that just any being can bear; it means a struggle against ‘end’ and a commitment to ‘existence’.”
Arian's tone carried a hint of certainty.
"A chaotic evil god would not, nor is it worthy of, using such a revered name. Those neutral, wavering beings are even less worthy; they are all cold-hearted fools. If that spatial turbulence is His doing... perhaps it is not a bad thing."
For all the lives lost in the bloody battle.
Most of the gods on the chaotic side can only be enemies, while the gods on the neutral side are all fence-sitters.
Do you expect those who participate in bloody battles to be moderates? They're all extremists.
They were almost all vengeful types; only blood for blood, eye for eye, and double the revenge could cleanse their anger. In their eyes, neutral parties were nothing but bastards, and so were gods.
Of course, you can't say it out loud, but you're definitely cursing it in your heart.
The gods on the side of order, especially those whose names carry a certain iron-blooded connotation, were all active participants in the bloody battle.
Groom exhaled a burst of hot, sulfurous breath from his nostrils, his massive frame seemed to straighten slightly, and a glint of doubt and anticipation flashed in his eyes.
"Hey, if it really is a powerful god on our side, that would be great! Let those damned demon bastards taste what it's like to be crushed!"
"Maybe...maybe we can actually push the front line forward in this godforsaken place?" His rough hands unconsciously gripped the handle of the battle axe on his knee, as if he could already see that heavy weapon cleaving through the demonic lines.
The last time they advanced their battle lines was sometime in the past.
In recent years, they have even been at a disadvantage.
I'm a little irritated.
Karas did not respond immediately, but instead cast his sharp gaze once again toward the strangely overlapping space-time in the northwest, and then slowly swept it over the shadowy demons lurking outside the barrier below.
Deep within those dark eyes, a faint spark of hope seemed to ignite.
He certainly wasn't expecting a bloody victory or anything like that.
But the more demons die, the better; he can die happily.
Beyond the immense shadow cast by the Bloodbath Fortress, the scorched earth resembled a festering sore.
There is no order here, only boiling malice and endless infighting.
This is the outermost part of the battlefield's center.
At the camp where the demons gathered.
A small group of demons of various shapes and sizes were gathered around a blasphemous bonfire lit with twisted limbs and broken weapons, the flames displaying a morbid green and purple hue.
A bat-winged demon with tattered bat wings was tearing at half of a convulsing cowardly demon's arm with its sharp claws. Thick pus and blood dripped from its chin, corroding the ground and making a hissing sound.
It shrieked incoherently, its content illogical, merely pure, painful noise.
Beside him, a short, cunning imp hopped around, trying to steal a small, shimmering soul crystal from the waist of another massive warrior demon covered in lava-like cracks.
The Demon of Might stomped its enormous, fiery hoof in annoyance, cracking the ground and nearly sending the imp flying, drawing a barrage of vicious but meaningless curses from the latter.
"Southeast!"
A bewitching demon covered in eyes hovered in mid-air, its eye stalks pointing haphazardly at the time-distorted area northwest of the Blood War Fortress, its voice like countless overlapping whispers.
“Space is overlapping! Interesting, there are gods here! Then you will become the burial ground for demons. Go, be eaten, and you won’t even be able to spit out your bones.” It suddenly let out a maniacal laugh, some eyes darting around excitedly, while others showed pure fear.
The Eye Demon, this Eye Demon is the best among the Eye Demons, able to predict future possibilities through the area it sees.
This possibility is vague and unclear, but it can help these inherently fragile eye demons avoid danger.
"The Burial Ground?!" A muscular, two-headed, four-armed berserker roared, its two heads tearing at the rotting flesh on each other's necks, spurting out filthy black blood, but stopping the next second because their anger was directed at the same target.
"Who?! Who dares to create a burial ground for demons on the territory of the abyss?! Coward! Only daring to hide." It wildly swung its four arms, rusty giant axe and mace, smashing the ground and sending stones flying.
"The demons that escaped said there's a god inside. And here we have a stupid dog too, don't we?" Another voice hissed, coming from a shadow demon that was almost blending into its surroundings.
"It is said that the god's name is 'The Blood Silver Savior'." Its words were full of provocation.
"Gods?!" The two heads of the Berserker Demon simultaneously erupted in deafening laughter, saliva mixed with black blood dripping down. "Another self-righteous fool! Wants to be a savior?! This is a bloodbath! This is the abyss! Here there is only chaos and death! Order? Redemption? Bah! All cowardly lies!"
One of its heads abruptly turned towards the overlapping space, its eyes burning with a mad, chaotic flame. "A little brat of a god? Hiding in a shell of space? Such a coward should die!"
It abruptly stood up, its massive body casting an ominous shadow, its four arms raised high with weapons, unleashing a soul-rending roar towards the distorted area:
"You little brats! Follow me! Let that cowardly 'savior' taste the true war of the Abyss! Tear that rag of space to shreds! Raise that brat's guts as a victory sash! For the eternal chaos of the Abyss! Kill!!!"
The surrounding low-level demons cheered wildly, making the entire camp even more chaotic and disorderly.
Amidst such frantic shouting.
This almost irrational, crazed guy whose brain was damaged in the bloody battle, led a group of insane demons in that direction.
The demons that had just ignited his mad desires stood silently in place, watching the army depart into the distance.
"How long do you think they can hold out?" Shadow Fiend asked with a hoarse, grating voice.
"You left a mark on him?"
The demon that went in earlier didn't even spit out any ashes, so it's hard to tell how long it stayed inside.
The Shadow Demon didn't speak, but looked at the Eye Demon.
The Eye Demon nodded.
His whole body swayed, since he didn't have a head; his body was his head.
"That silly dog only possesses weak divine power, so the corresponding god should also possess weak divine power and shouldn't care about a mark that's just used to detect life fluctuations."
"Then place your bets and see how long he can hold out. Use the finest soul stones; don't bring out your junk."
These demons treat the lives of their comrades as playthings and sources of amusement, but no one cares, perhaps not even the demons themselves who are being used as playthings.
This is the demon of the abyss, the ultimate chaos and disorder, following its own instincts and will, acting recklessly and doing anything insane.
"The will of the abyss is writhing and will soon descend upon us. Then we will have to go to that overlapping space and face the power of the gods."
The Eye Demon rambled on and on, as if he had seen such a possibility.
"But since the spaces completely overlap, you can naturally see what's inside."
The boxes are still overlapping at this point, which is why it's difficult to see what's inside.
Once the overlap is complete.
The two areas were immediately visible, so there was no way to hide them.
Unless a magical shield is created to isolate it from outside detection, but that's pointless, the chaos of the abyss would make such a shield difficult to operate.
Although they were in disarray, they found amusement in watching their colleagues die.
But they also knew that it wouldn't be long before they would have to attack there themselves.
Modern entertainment is also a form of intelligence gathering. (End of Chapter)
