Chapter 868 The Comoros Rebellion
Chapter 868 The Comoros Rebellion
In that battle of the Fellowship of Vengeance, many Primarchs were tested by the Chaos Gods, and Chagatai Khan fell into the hands of the merciful father, Nurgle.
Ryan and Ruth were even more impressed by this incident than Chagatai himself.
They were both badly beaten by Chagatai Khan, the "Plague King." If the emperor hadn't intervened in time, they probably would have both fallen into his hands.
The reason why Chagatai Khan was so powerful was that he obtained part of Nurgle's authority and also fused with the powerful warp artifact, the Heart of Plague.
With multiple buffs, the Khan's fighting power rivals that of Horus, who is blessed by the four gods, making it easy for him to subdue his other brothers.
Although these experiences were not entirely real, but occurred on a fictional timeline, Chagatai Khan still developed some kind of mysterious connection with the Heart of Plague.
He could vaguely sense the location of the Heart of Plague, or at least the direction in which it existed.
It was with this vague perception, coupled with the guidance of the Tuchucha Engine, that the three Primarchs led a group of warriors into the Webway and finally found the giant Webway hub of Comoros.
The entire city of Comoros is in chaos. Compared to these humans, the warp demons are a higher priority for the Dark Eldar.
Especially those damned Slaanesh demons. If they aren't wiped out, the Slaanesh's attention will become increasingly focused on Comoros, causing the Eldar to lose their last stronghold.
The situation has become so critical that even numerous rival factions have temporarily joined forces, sending their warriors to fight together and using their numerical advantage to deal with the warp demons.
The Dark Eldar are absolutely unable to use psionic energy, which deprives them of their most effective weapon against warp creatures.
Warp creatures are highly immune to ranged weapons, and the Dark Eldar's bizarre and brutal weapons are ineffective against these enemies. Only high-powered molten weapons like the Heat Spear and plasma weapons like the Disintegration Cannon are effective at killing demons.
In the complex skies of Comoros, an elite air assault force known as the Cataclysm is operating collectively. These dark Eldar, modified by the Bloodlings, have had their bones hollowed out and have been transplanted with real wings and muscle groups, possessing the literal ability to fly.
Their jet-black wings swept silently through the air as they clashed and fought with the flying warp demons.
The most important weapon of the Cataclysm is the heat spear in their hands. These slender Eldar weapons possess the destructive power of a heat-melting weapon, as well as the extremely high precision of a laser weapon.
When a dozen Scourge units focus their fire on a demon, even a Slaanesh Seeker riding a Slaanesh steed at incredible speed will be reduced to a bubbling mass of molten matter amidst the roar of the molten weapon.
The only saving grace is that the gaps in the network caused by the separation are not too large, so powerful Slaanesh like the Great Keeper of the Secrets cannot easily enter Comoros.
The Great Demon Slaanesh is the direct target of the Prince of Pleasure's will; in a sense, the Great Demon is a tiny part of Slaanesh.
Even so, the roar of the Great Keeper of Secrets was enough to frighten even the strongest witch spirits and to cause nightmares to haunt those who had fought their way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
A large number of Mandelas were summoned to the battlefield, and it is difficult to say whether these beings are actually members of the Dark Eldar.
They were completely black, with snow-white hair and faces that were only vague shadows, and they held mica steel blades stained with blood.
Mandela lived in a pure dark dimension, able to freely enter and exit the shadows. Some unfortunate warp demons were dragged to the dark dimension by Mandela and devoured.
The extremely rare Bloodlings also appeared on the battlefield. These mad scientists from the Dark Eldar were covered in all sorts of experimental tools, including scissor hands, nerve torture devices, skinning knives, liquefaction guns, and so on, all gleaming with a dangerous cold light.
Of course, the noble Bloodlings would not personally intervene in the battle; their special and exalted status among the Dark Eldar made them immune to any threat.
The governors can be resurrected by the Bloodwalkers if they die, but if the Bloodwalkers die, things get complicated.
They are surrounded by numerous nightmares, who are specifically responsible for protecting the Bloodlings.
Meanwhile, the masochists who underwent extensive biochemical modifications by the Bloodlings, becoming humanoid weapons, the Twisted Abominations injected with large amounts of growth serum and viruses that cause abnormal bone development, and the Chronos Parasitic Engines that drift slowly using anti-gravity engines, were directly commanded by the Bloodlings to kill warp demons.
Much of Comoros is in complete chaos.
The three Primarchs, leading a human army of thousands of Astartes, were utterly insignificant in this environment.
Ryan led his warriors on a continuous teleportation journey through the Comoros, while Chagatai struggled to find his way.
"No, Comoros is far too complex. It's not just that its structure is intricate, but more importantly, our human senses are different from those of the Dark Eldar, making it impossible for us to fully comprehend its true nature."
“We still need your inside man, Victor, otherwise we’ll probably be stuck here forever.”
When Chagatai Khan saw the same fork in the road a second time, he realized that he had led his people down the wrong path.
The Khan did not stubbornly choose to continue forward. Compared to other Primarchs, his greatest virtue was his understanding of humility and pragmatism.
Even the Primarch is not omnipotent and can still lead people astray.
If you stubbornly insist on leading the way in this situation just to save face, it could lead to disastrous consequences.
"Okay, I'll call Viktor right now."
"He'd better behave himself, or he'll be dead before he even finds the Heart of the Plague!"
Chagatai Khan's bluntness made Ryan frown; the chaotic labyrinth of the Comoros had indeed exceeded their initial expectations.
Even with the Khan's vague sense of the plague's heart, precise navigation remained extremely difficult in this twisted, ever-changing, dark city.
It seems we have no choice but to play Victor's card sooner rather than later.
Just as Ryan was about to call for Victor, a group of extremely conspicuous and unusually noisy green-skinned orcs suddenly appeared.
With lightning speed, Ryan swung his Lion Sword, casually cleaving in two an orc warlord who had stumbled upon the humans with a multitude of green-skinned minions.
The lion king observed his prey and discovered that the creature seemed to have many unusual signs of modification and torture on its body.
Although orcs also enjoy modifying themselves, especially by installing those cool-looking large power claws or heavy cannons, the intricacy and wickedness of these modifications are inconsistent with the orcs' character.
"This guy... seems to have escaped from those damned Bloodwalker labs. I don't know if he escaped in the chaos or if the Bloodwalkers deliberately released him to defend against the warp demons."
"Green-skinned orcs, these green plagues of the galaxy, even in a godforsaken place like the Comoros, their traces can be found."
"When I return to the Empire, I will definitely cleanse these damned beasts."
For some reason, when the lion saw the green-skinned orc in front of him, his animal instincts actually kicked in.
It seems... that the orcs have become the empire's greatest enemy.
Ryan shook his head, feeling himself starting to overthink. The Ulanor Orc Empire was finished, and orcs could never be humanity's greatest enemy.
The lion activated the Eldar communicator that Viktor had given him when he was captured—a device that could only transmit short messages in one direction.
Ryan didn't know the specific principle behind this thing, but his thought transformed into a cold command that pierced through the chaotic background noise of Comoros and reached a pre-set receiving point.
The signal was given, and everyone was plunged into an unknown wait. No one knew whether Viktor would come or how long it would take him to arrive.
Rus tapped the ground irritably with his battle axe, while Chagatai closed his eyes and tried to recapture the faint, unsettling pulse of the Heart of Plague amidst the roars of demons and the noise of the collapsing city.
The Astartes warriors stood silently on guard, their chainswords humming and their blasters cocked, ready to deal with any threat that might pounce from any corner—whether it be a warp demon, a dark Eldar, or some other monster.
In this chaotic and monstrous place called Comoros, even a lone Astartes seems to have no safety to speak of.
Fortunately, Victor didn't keep them waiting too long.
With a faint engine sound, almost drowned out by the ambient noise, a dozen shadows emerged from the dark, damp base of the Comoros's spire.
The leader was none other than Asdubal Victor.
He wore a set of Eldar armor with a dark, gleaming sheen, the shoulder armor etched with grotesque skull and thorn patterns—the symbolic emblem of the Black Heart Conspiracy.
Behind him followed a small squad of well-equipped, cold-eyed Conspiracy Society warriors, as well as several Nightmares exuding a dangerous aura.
With a perfectly timed smile, a blend of humility and ambition, on his face, Victor gracefully performed a Dark Eldar-style chest-touching salute to the three Primarchs.
“Great conquerors, Asdubal Victor, are at your service. What you seek can only be found by those most familiar with the dark corners of the Comoros. Follow me.”
His gaze swept over Ryan, Ruth, and Chagatai, especially the faint but palpable killing intent emanating from the Khan that instinctively terrified the Dark Eldar, making him feel a deep-seated threat.
Viktor knew the reason: the hunting grounds raided by the Dark Eldar included Chogoris, and the Chogoris had suffered greatly at the hands of the Dark Eldar before Chagatai Khan arrived on that planet.
The fact that the two sides haven't immediately drawn their swords against each other when they meet is already a result of the other side's restraint.
Victor is indeed an excellent guide.
He led the human army, moving like a slippery viper through the crumbling ruins of Comoros, the still-burning battlefields, and the chaotic civilian districts.
He chose an extremely cunning route, avoiding the massive demon horde and areas of intense fighting, making full use of the terrain and shadows for cover.
However, Ryan, Ruth, and Chagatai soon realized that something was wrong.
Instead of choosing the most direct route, Victor repeatedly led the humans on detours, ostensibly to "avoid places where powerful conspiracies are entrenched," or because "there is a risk of structural collapse ahead."
Each time he took a detour, Viktor would inevitably lead the human army to a stronghold of the Dark Eldar.
Initially, they passed through a neighborhood controlled by a conspiracy group called Screaming Fang.
The Screaming Fang Conspiracy's leader was clearly on high alert for the sudden appearance of the human army and immediately ordered his Ada warriors, equipped with Bloodstone and Destroyer weapons, to attack.
A fierce skirmish erupted instantly, with the roar of explosives, the howl of chainsaws, and the shrieks of Eldar weapons intertwining, and the most thrilling close-quarters combat unfolding in the blink of an eye.
In the sky, the Dark Eldar's Ripper airships, Raider motorcycles, and Poisonous Disasters displayed unimaginable high mobility, launching air attacks on humanity from all directions.
The Dark Angels' Space Marines activated their destructive weapons immediately. The individual singularity missiles directly clashed with the Eldar's spacecraft, and under a gravitational collapse that made one's teeth ache, they compressed all the spacecraft into extremely dense solid metal.
The weapons of the Dark Eldar are more often designed to inflict devastating damage on unarmored or lightly armored units, and are somewhat ineffective against the heavily armored Astartes.
However, when those dark light spears, twin-barreled disintegration cannons, and force field destruction projectiles hit Astartes, they were still able to break through the armor and tear apart the flesh and blood inside.
The death toll at Astartes is rising, while the enraged Primarchs are demonstrating the terrifying power of their individual strength.
Chagatai Khan transformed into a white lightning storm, moving across the battlefield at a speed that even the Dark Eldar could hardly detect. His White Tiger Blade showed no mercy; none of the Aida warriors who stood in his way could withstand a second strike before being torn to shreds.
The Lion's Misty Jungle opens. While his speed is indeed inferior to that of Chagatai Khan, relying on his domain, he can appear in any corner of the battlefield and quickly hunt down enemies in blind spots.
As for Fenris's Wolf King, he didn't bother with any of that nonsense and directly brandished his Frostblade Battle Axe, heading straight for the mobile vehicles that were unleashing their firepower.
The Dark Eldar's vehicles adhere to a consistent warfare philosophy—high speed, agility, and maneuverability, while also possessing deadly destructive power. However, their vehicles are also far more fragile than paper; the Wolf King's battle axe merely grazed the aircraft before it exploded into a fireball, subsequently frozen by the harsh frost.
The other fighters focused their fire on Russ, but were directly stopped by his psionic shield and physical defense.
A speeding Raider motorcycle suddenly changed direction and rushed towards Ruth, thrusting its sharp tip toward the Primarch's forehead.
However, Lemanrus simply grabbed the Raider motorcycle with his bare hands, casually shook the Dark Eldar off it, and then tossed the motorcycle to the White Scars who were already eyeing it with great envy.
The war was indeed exceptionally brutal, but the bloodshed was mostly reserved for the Dark Eldar.
Even without the help of these Astartes, the three Primarchs alone could wipe out these scum of the conspiracy.
When Ryan's Lionsword beheaded the terrified governor, this encounter came to a complete end.
The Space Marines suffered single-digit casualties, and although some were injured, these were not major problems thanks to the help of the apothecaries.
Victor watched silently as these humans slaughtered their mortal enemy, the Conspiracy Group.
He felt no sorrow for the tragic deaths of his kin; his heart was filled only with boundless pleasure and ecstasy.
Victor acted as an eager guide, leading Ryan and the others through the dark Comoros.
The second time, this guy led the humans directly to a heavily guarded slave market.
Even the well-informed Primarchs and Space Marines felt sorry for the creatures in the Comoros slave market.
Here you can see almost all the races in the galaxy—humans, orcs, Hruds, and the various branches of the Eldarin race.
Of course, the largest number of these were the Dark Eldar themselves, with large numbers of low-level slaves and the poor being sold off like animals.
Comoros descended into unprecedented chaos, with hordes of tortured slaves attempting to escape amidst the turmoil, while the Ada warriors of the "Midnight Skinners" conspiracy frantically tried to maintain order and protect their property.
When the sight of the fully armed human army appeared, especially Ruth's signature wild charge, panic and hostility instantly ignited the powder keg.
The slave owners screamed and ordered their mercenaries to attack, and the chaotic firefight resumed.
This time, the Astartes cooperated even more skillfully. They tore apart the slave cages without hesitation and destroyed the defense system. The slaves, who had broken free from imprisonment and torture, vented all their anger and hatred on these members of the conspiracy.
Especially the Ork, what they cared about most was not being humiliated and tortured, but that these bastards had imprisoned the Orks and given them no chance to fight.
The orcs thrived even more on the chaotic battlefield. Even a broken metal rod or a shattered stone, amplified by their magical powers, could become a weapon that could take Ada's life.
The freed human slaves, upon seeing the Space Marines, immediately gathered together, repeatedly shouting excited cries of "The Emperor has appeared!"
The vast majority of them came from various mortal auxiliary legions, because humans who were too weak and powerless simply could not endure the torture and survive to become slaves.
"Honorable Imperial Angels, we truly never expected that you would actually come to this godforsaken place to save us!"
When a human claiming to be a captain of the 661st Infantry Regiment of Katachon mustered the courage to speak to the Astartes, Ryan and the others found it quite troublesome.
“We are not here to save you, soldiers.”
Ryan did not deceive these people; instead, he chose to tell them the truth.
“We are carrying out a secret mission for the Empire. This is important; it concerns the future of the Empire.”
The faces of these emaciated human slaves visibly changed, but they still maintained at least a minimum of awe and composure.
“We can’t take you away, at least not now.” Ryan’s answer plunged many into even deeper despair.
They can endure despair, but only if they have never seen the light.
“But we will kill all these Eldar and clear the area. If you can hold out until we complete our mission, we can take you away from Comoros,” Ruth said.
The wolf king was ultimately more compassionate than the lion king; he gave these mortals hope.
"Yes, my lord!"
The Katachan bowed to the Lion King in a salute of the eagle, and then led his ragged, exhausted mortal slaves to scavenge weapons from the corpses of the Dark Eldar.
They will hold their ground here, awaiting the return of the Primarchs and the Astartes.
Victor felt more and more that humanity was a useful weapon, and he seemed to be unable to extricate himself from this frenzied feast of purging dissidents.
His ruthless conspiracy group is very young. Although it is gradually growing thanks to his careful management, it is not even in the same league as those conspiracy groups with a long history.
Without these humans, he might have had to spend much more time and energy to eliminate these damned enemies.
Ryan and the others also saw through Victor's intentions, but they tacitly chose not to expose him.
They are indeed heading towards the Heart of the Plague, and along the way, slaughtering these Dark Eldar also weakens the Comoros' power on a macro level.
As long as Victor isn't too outrageous, they're happy to kill these Dark Eldar.
The Conspiracy Council rulers saw them as a weapon to strike at their enemies, believing that humans should take what they wanted and leave, but their ambitions were far greater than they imagined.
This military operation quickly devolved into a rather dull death game.
Victor led the human army toward the conspiracy group, which was struggling to deal with warp demons, and then Ryan and his men charged in and slaughtered the enemies.
The continuous skirmishes in different environments allowed the Astartes to adapt more quickly to the unique environment of the Comoros and the Dark Eldar's habitual tactics.
The fierce and cunning Dark Eldar became the best whetstones for the Astartes, who were constantly improving, making terrifying progress in their killing skills and combat awareness.
When the last obstacle in their path, the stronghold of the conspiracy group known as "Eternal Night Blade," was reduced to a burning ruin by the combined forces of Ryan and Ruth, Victor's smile became almost uncontrollable.
He realized that he had almost accomplished his goal. Thirteen powerful conspiracy groups had perished in this killing spree. Even if they had retained some strength, they would become increasingly weak in the subsequent internal power struggles.
If this continues, these humans might turn hostile.
He approached Ryan with utmost respect, adopting an attitude even lower than that of a servant to his master.
"Your Majesty, the bravery of you and your warriors is awe-inspiring, and the stumbling blocks that hindered our progress have been cleared away."
“We are now very close to the coordinates you provided. That area is the Bloodlink Association’s experimental base, and it is extremely dangerous for anyone who comes here uninvited.”
"Of course, these dangers are nothing to you. I just want you to be prepared so that there are no unexpected casualties."
Ryan snorted, which was a response to Victor's overture.
In his mind, the more humble the governor was, the more valuable he was to kill.
Victor led the human army through an archway made of huge, pale biological skeletons into a completely different area.
The air was thick with the stench of preservatives, blood, and an indescribable, chilling aura of highly sophisticated biotechnology.
The buildings here are no longer made of metal and rock, but of some kind of smooth, bioceramic pipes that resemble living tissue and a spiritual bone material that shimmers with an eerie green light.
Complex energy pipelines and logistics networks spread like spider webs overhead and on the walls, occasionally emitting eerie sounds that send chills down one's spine.
“Be careful. The coordinates you provided are located in an important experimental area of the Bloodcraft Society—the Corridor of Decay. This is a forbidden zone for those Flesh Masters, and no one knows what they are doing here,” Victor said.
Almost the instant the human army stepped into the area, a piercing alarm sounded throughout the corridor.
The dark red emergency lights replaced the original eerie green lighting, indicating that the owner of this area had discovered traces of the intruders.
"You audacious intruders! How dare you come here?"
The sharp, angry Eldar language echoed through the corridor through the loudspeaker, but Ryan could hear the underlying bravado in it.
The heavy bioceramic gates on both sides of the passage suddenly opened, but instead of ordinary Conspiracy Clan warriors, the Bloodwalkers' true guardian force appeared.
The abuser, transformed into a humanoid mantis, moved with lightning speed. Its arms had long been modified into giant bone blades that shimmered with the light of a disintegrating force field, and it silently pounced on Astartes.
The twisted abomination, now much larger and covered in thick bio-armor, let out a deafening roar.
His spine, due to excessive growth, pierced through his back, while numerous medicine jars were placed within the bulging fleshy mass. Like land tanks, they carried astonishing destructive power with every move.
The Talos Pain Engines, which defy description, hovered in the air. These structures, resembling giant metal spiders, extended several mechanical tentacles with drills and syringes from their abdomens, spraying clouds of strong acid and neurotoxins from above.
Even more bizarre and terrifying biological weapons, never before seen, emerged from the shadows.
The Blood Brotherhood, the most mysterious organization in the Comoros, possessing the most forbidden knowledge, is revealing its terrifying depths.
Even the Primarchs were on high alert when facing these hideous and disgusting modified biological weapons, as no one knew how many hidden killing moves these monsters had.
Llane's Lionsword was so fast it was difficult to capture with the eyes. He cleaved through the onrushing Abominations, while deadly bombs tumbled and spun around him, along with plasma rays radiating extremely high temperatures—a sign that the Dark Angels were doing their utmost to protect the Primarch.
Ruth roared as he charged into the enemy ranks, his giant battle axe tearing apart everything in his path. His pack of wolves was incredibly fierce, almost relentlessly following in the footsteps of the alpha wolf, using their fangs to shred the bio-monsters.
Chagatai's figure moved swiftly and deadly across the battlefield, precisely severing the nerve bundles of the abusers or destroying the energy core of the Kronos Engine.
Some of the warriors with white scars piloted warplanes belonging to the Dark Eldar, using these weapons of the Conspiracy Clan to fight against the Bloodlings' creations.
Victor and his Black Heart Conspiracy retreated to the edge of the battlefield the moment the battle broke out.
After all, according to the agreement, he was only responsible for leading the way, and everything else was none of his business.
Moreover, from any perspective, he would not get involved in anything that might offend the Blood Actors.
The consul stood on a relatively safe vantage point, a satisfied smile on his face that was a mixture of excitement, cruelty, and curiosity, like an audience member watching a grand drama.
"Let these old monsters, humans and bloodlust, fight to their hearts' content, let the whole of Comoros be thrown into chaos, our time is about to begin."
"But I'm curious... what kind of treasure could possibly warrant the combined efforts of three Primarchs?"
