Chapter 137 Chogoris Goes Single
Chapter 137 Chogoris Goes Single
After meeting with the warriors of the Imperial Fists, Guilliman also expressed his condolences to Captain Veranoeb, the representative of the Raven Guard.
"I feel your grief, Captain. Corvas Corax is my dear brother. When he returned to the Empire from the Salvation Planet, he followed me and I was responsible for giving him some necessary guidance." Guilliman expressed his sincere grief.
"I will share your hopes. I swear allegiance to you on behalf of my troops. We ask for nothing more than to kill the traitors."
Captain Ebu stepped aside, bowed slightly, and pointed to several teams nearby.
Although Guilliman thought he had a good relationship with his brothers, in reality, the Lord of the Limits was an outlier among his brothers.
Roboute spent his childhood under the care of his adoptive parents. It was not until he came of age that his adoptive father, King Connor, was murdered by the despicable plot of his political enemies. Now his adoptive mother is still by his side.
Secondly, the Ultramarines have never minded learning from other brother legions. They learned saturation fire bombing from the Iron Warriors, the use of psychic powers from the Thousand Sons, and mechanized coordinated combat from the Iron Hands.
There is nothing wrong with imitation and learning, and each legion will not refuse to learn from its peers.
However - Guilliman always has the habit of learning from his brothers' strengths and then making modifications and improvements with the characteristics of the Ultramarines. Guilliman will even kindly feedback the improved version he has made to the source.
This was an intolerable provocation for many legions.
This also caused the Ultramarines to be criticized by their brother legions. In their eyes, these cousins of the Thirteenth Legion were extremely arrogant guys. Not only did they learn the strengths of their own legions without authorization, but they also added the characteristics of the Ultramarines unnecessarily.
The Primarch of the Raven Guard was one of the last to return, and compared to his other independent brothers, Corax was truly as close to Guilliman as his own blood brother.
Captain Eb introduced the Iron Hand to the Primarch.
"Salton Karasinson, the chosen leader of the surviving Iron Hands. Beside him is Zaytos of the Salamanders."
Guilliman noticed the silent Iron Hand. His aura was the lowest among the Astartes present. Strong grief and anger were buried in his heart, but the Primarch still noticed it.
Krasinson was wearing a solemn black and white power armor. He did not take off his visor even when meeting the Primarch. For the Iron Hands, the visor was their face.
"If you are the enemy of Horus, the Iron Hands will be your loyal warriors."
Guilliman nodded and said, "Sabik Verlander, the Iron Father, and Nikonna Sharokin, they were in Macragge before, you should know them."
Hearing these words, Karasinson and Ebou were immediately shocked.
After the massacre at Isstvan V, their legion was broken up, and they had no news of their former comrades, whom they had thought had been killed on that hopeless battlefield.
Zaithos of the Salamander was much kinder. He held his helmet between his arms. His skin was as dark as coal, and his eyes sparkled with the color of lava.
"We have suffered heavy losses, but we firmly believe that Vulkan will live forever, and our Gene Father must still be alive."
Zaito's tone did not fluctuate much, but it revealed a calmness as heavy as a mountain.
"We will not mourn Vulkan until we see his body with our own eyes."
Guilliman looked past the Salamanders, his eyes sweeping over the many Space Marines in different paint jobs, his gaze landing on a White Scar warrior wearing white power armor and his hair tied in a bun.
The White Scars warrior holds an uncharged Power Sword in his hands, sharpening the battle-hardened blade with a whetstone.
"White Scars, Gantura salutes you." He simply nodded and greeted her, even holding an unsheathed blade in his hand.
The heated atmosphere at the scene cooled down in an instant, and everyone was looking at the warrior from Chogoris, who was still sharpening his sword while meeting the Primarch.
The ever-victorious army behind Guilliman made some unusual movements. They dispersed their formation and slowly surrounded them.
The Primarch simply waved his hand and asked them to leave. He said:
"Welcome, son of my brother Jaghatai Khan." Guilliman offered his hand, placing it before the White Scar. "I heard you brought a fleet to Macragge. Why do you come to me with weapons in hand?"
Guntura did not act arrogantly, but stretched out his hand and shook hands with the Lord of the Ultramarines.
"Yes, my lord, I come to you armed, but my other hand is empty - I don't know why you led us here by that shining beacon, so I will take my weapon with me to be safe."
"That is not enough to convince me," said Guilliman, already looking a little angry.
"My lord, I have judged with my own eyes that this is not a trap." White Scar bowed slightly.
"But," Guntura continued, changing the subject, "you consider the actions of Horus the Great as a naked betrayal."
When the word betrayal was uttered, everyone felt a chill in their hearts.
"It's not just betrayal, warriors of the White Scars. Horus's actions are a rebellion. He didn't kill for his own selfish desires. Instead, he was corrupted and twisted from spirit to body. He and other dissatisfied brothers started a great rebellion together."
Guntula nodded, steering the conversation in the desired direction.
"Yes, we all understand that rebellion comes in many forms, some are as grand as Horus, his rebels are slaughtering innocents across the galaxy, they are laying siege to Terra, preparing to capture the throne world of humanity."
"But there is more to rebellion than that. There is also a kind of rebellion that is hard to detect and silent."
The White Scar's eyes met Guilliman's, sharp as their blades.
"I have only one question: Do you want to create a new empire of your own before the old one dies?"
When the old empire fell into a brutal civil war and rebellion, would the isolated natural kingdom of Ultramar 500 Worlds in the eastern part of the galaxy develop inappropriate ambitions?
Although Guntura's words were gentle, they were heartbreaking.
Guilliman's expression froze, but he still kept smiling.
The representatives of the various legions present, whether they had not thought of this or had thought of it but remained silent and did not ask any questions, all watched this scene intently.
What would the Primarch do?
Would he beat his son into the Dreadnaught like Perturabo did? Or would he punch his son's head off like an angry lion?
"I did not create my own empire, son of Jaghatai. I am doing my utmost to preserve the remnants of the old empire. It was I who united all the forces of the eastern galaxy, and it was I who defeated the Shadow Crusade led by Lorgar and Angron."
"On Calth, my legion lost more than half its men. On Amatra, we sank the Conqueror, sank the Blessed Lady, severely damaged and captured the True Principle—and we killed Angron."
The reception hall was completely silent, and the only sound that could be heard was the breathing of the Space Marines through the air intake grilles.
Everyone present is a strong man who fought his way out of this rebellion, and naturally knows how incredible such a brilliant record is.
Many of these warriors had come from other sectors and were lost in the Warp, unaware of the stunning victory that Guilliman had achieved in the eastern part of the galaxy.
"Gantula, you have set a self-proof trap for me. No matter how I argue, I have to produce evidence to prove my innocence. I don't need to prove myself. My existence is a manifestation of loyalty."
"Your offense is only this once. If you still don't believe, then bear witness to me and see if what I have done is worthy of loyalty."
White Scar stroked his long beard with his free hand. He thought for a few seconds and then sheathed his sword.
"Then I will bear witness to your intentions, my lord, and the White Scars are willing to fight for you."
