Chapter 7 No One Can
Chapter 7 No One Can
The Brown Bear police were tough and flatly rejected the US military's rude request. The two sides should have been in the same position, but they confronted each other in public.
Passengers nearby fled for fear of being accidentally injured by stray bullets in the exchange of fire.
Fortunately, both sides retained their sanity and did not engage in a tragedy of fratricide.
The following scene was extremely dramatic, with commanders from both sides stepping in to suppress the situation simultaneously, followed by face-to-face negotiations on the tarmac.
However, the military commander refused to meet and demanded that both parties maintain a safe distance of at least ten meters, otherwise he would refuse to meet.
The police commander was not so easy to control. He turned around and left without saying a word. Then all the police officers withdrew without leaving a single one behind, completely handing the airport over to the military.
Ou Yang and Zhu Yiming, who were far from the center of the conflict, devoured the melon with great enthusiasm. The latter muttered in confusion, "Hey, why did you just leave like that? What's with all the rage?"
Are the military and police at odds? Or do they belong to different factions?
He always felt that the system here was too complicated and he couldn't figure it out at all.
Ou Yang looked up and saw the thick smoke drifting above the city. He immediately had some guesses: "Maybe it's because of public security."
"What the hell?" Zhu Yiming didn't understand.
"Look at how chaotic the city is. There are only so many police officers. They may be enough at normal times, but they are definitely short-handed now. With such great pressure, so many people are being deployed to control the airport. Do you think they came voluntarily or at the request of the military?" Ou Yang analyzed seriously.
There are only so many police officers, which may be enough at normal times, but there are definitely not enough of them at this time.
In order to facilitate the military's occupation of the airport, the police had to withdraw police forces at this critical juncture, but they did not expect that the military would have to disarm the police after achieving its goal.
Zhu Yiming understood immediately: "Bah, isn't this just killing the donkey after it has done its work? That's really unkind!"
American soldiers are much more efficient than the police. The colonel commander sits in the center, and a group of lieutenant colonels and majors each perform their duties. They first order the guards to maintain order, then organize the passengers to return to the terminal, arrange medical staff to treat the wounded, and also call on volunteers to carry the bodies.
Everything was arranged in an orderly manner and the airport restored order in the shortest time possible.
At the same time, dozens of transport planes took off and landed continuously, and huge amounts of supplies piled up like mountains.
Ou Yang and Zhu Yiming also returned to the terminal under the guidance of the guards and temporarily settled in the southeast corner.
This place is close to the floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking most of the airport.
The two of them saw many familiar faces here, all of whom were compatriots who had waited for the flight together before. Everyone greeted each other, and their words were full of care and kindness.
How beautiful the water of my hometown is, how close the people of my hometown are.
When we are in a foreign country, no matter where we are from, we are all one family and we instinctively stick together for warmth.
After experiencing a period of chaos, everyone was in a bad mood and very depressed.
Zhu Yiming was the first to bring up the topic: "Hey, what happened?"
"What else could have happened?" Brother Zhang, from Northeast China, said indignantly. "So many doctors and nurses are rushing out together, still wearing protective suits in this scorching heat. It must be an infectious disease, no doubt about it!"
"What the hell? Don't make me laugh. When have Americans ever been afraid of infection? Have you ever seen them wearing masks?" Uncle Hu from Tianjin started to talk crosstalk as soon as he opened his mouth.
"You can't say that," Ou Yang disagreed. "We weren't afraid of the epidemic for three years, but now it's a state of emergency. Doesn't that mean the situation is even more serious than it was back then?"
"Don't scare me!" Zhu Yiming's face changed. "Could it be a biochemical virus leak? Lao Mi took away all the information about Unit 731!"
"Oh my goodness, brother, you're so nagging! That's how it's portrayed in the movies, with the virus leaking from an American lab. If that hadn't happened, would the Americans have acted that way?" Uncle Hu agreed. Everyone felt a chill run down their spines when they heard this. A fair-skinned girl's eyes welled up, nearly bursting into tears.
Her name is He Qianqian. She went abroad to relax after a breakup. Now her mood has not only not improved, but has become even worse.
"Hey, hey, hey, what are you talking about? Don't scare yourself!" Ou Yang felt the atmosphere was off and quickly tried to make amends. "I heard that the American lab is on some island, and it has nothing to do with brown bears."
While saying this, a series of horrifying names flashed through my mind, including Ebola, Marburg, anthrax, plague, cholera, AIDS, and even the T virus popped up.
Which little cutie makes Mimiya so nervous?
"That was a terrorist attack!" Uncle Hu said again, making Ou Yang so angry that his teeth were itching.
He has always felt that people from Tianjin are particularly interesting and have a good impression of them. How come he met such a guy today?
"We can't leave even if we are asked to. If we bring the virus back, we will be sinners for eternity." Brother Zhang's resolute face was full of solemnity.
Everyone became even more depressed after hearing this.
Ou Yang sighed, "I don't dare to count on going back. I just want to know when I can contact my family. At least I have to let them know I'm safe, right?"
"That's right. Such a big thing happened, it will definitely be on the hot search. I can't imagine what my family will think if they see the news before they go back!" Zhu Yiming echoed.
"I can't get through to 12308. Do you think the Ministry of Foreign Affairs knows what's going on here?" Ou Yang frowned. "It would be great if we had a satellite phone."
Ma, a student from the northwest, tightly grasped his mobile phone, feeling regretful and angry.
His phone has satellite communication function, but he has never activated this service. If he had known this day would come, he would have applied for it no matter how expensive it was.
As they were talking, a group of American soldiers set up a cordon, dividing the huge terminal into many squares of different sizes, placing the stranded passengers in the squares and strictly prohibiting them from moving around at will.
"What does that mean?" Uncle Hu looked confused. "Can a cordon be used to isolate the virus? It's so crowded that even an oil gourd wouldn't be enough."
Ou Yang didn't want to laugh, but he couldn't suppress the smile.
By this time, the passengers had basically been settled in, and the overall atmosphere was quite peaceful. Seeing a guard walking back and forth nearby, Ou Yang suddenly had a thought: "Everyone, do you have cigarettes? Anyone have any?"
"Here!" Brother Zhang took out a cigarette box and handed it over.
He originally wanted to share a cigarette, but Ou Yang suddenly handed over a large roll of cigarettes: "Lend it to me!" He walked towards the guard and offered him a cigarette without saying a word. "Hello, do you want to smoke?"
The guard glanced at the cigarette, then at Ou Yang, licked his lips, and shook his head, reminding him: "No smoking in public places!"
Ou Yang knew that smoking was prohibited at the airport, so he only used this thing to strike up a conversation. "We are tourists from the University of Tokyo. We don't have anything to do right now. Can we contact our families?"
The guard curled his lips and politely refused: "Sorry, the military requires that no one can contact the outside world."
"What about the embassy?" Ou Yang still refused to give up. "Is it possible to contact the embassy?"
"Neither private individuals nor the embassy can do this," the guard refused again, taking two steps away before turning back. "Not only you, but neither can we."
