Chapter 320 Urgent Mission

Chapter 320 Urgent Mission

Zhou Jimin hurried through the passage, which, while not narrow, was certainly not wide, and rushed to the communications compartment: "Old Xu, what's the matter that's so urgent?"

Before Xu Yi could speak, Zhou Jimin saw a familiar figure on the screen.

"Professor Zhou, I am Gao Cunyi."

Zhou Jimin was very surprised, but quickly came to his senses: "Master Gao?"

“Yes, it’s me!” Gao Cunyi said with a serious expression. “Time is of the essence, so I won’t bother with formalities. Professor, please answer one question for me truthfully.”

Zhou Jimin immediately felt an invisible pressure: "Please speak."

"I want to know how long the blocking agent needs to be used to effectively stop the infection!"

Zhou Jimin said with some difficulty, "We haven't conducted any experiments in this area, we don't have any data to support it, and the exact timing is still unclear."

"About?"

"The sooner the better... If I may ask, have those people you mentioned already inhaled the spores?"

“Yes!” Gao Cunyi nodded, his expression grave.

"And the inhalation time? The more precise, the better!"

Gao Cunyi turned his head and said something, but no sound came out of the device: "The exact inhalation time was 42 minutes ago!"

Zhou Jimin immediately replied, "Inhale it immediately; the chances of blocking the blockage are very high!"

Gao Cunyi immediately breathed a sigh of relief: "Great, Captain Xu, I will coordinate the aircraft immediately. Please prepare fifteen doses of blocking agent right away!"

"Wait!" Zhou Jimin immediately stopped him. "The blocking agent must be stored at 27 degrees Celsius. Does the plane have a temperature-controlled device?"

Gao Cunyi was stunned: "It must be kept at a constant temperature?"

"Yes, the storage conditions for the inhibitor are very demanding. Once it is removed from the constant temperature environment, it will quickly become ineffective."

Gao Cunyi turned his gaze away from the screen: "Does our plane have a temperature control system?"

An unfamiliar voice immediately replied, "No!"

"How long will it take to coordinate immediately?"

"I don't know, I haven't come across any information on this."

"Investigate immediately!"

Gao Cunyi turned his attention back to the professor: "Professor, isn't there a temperature control system on the ship?"

Zhou Jimin smiled wryly: "I only have large-scale constant temperature equipment here, the kind that is fixed on the ground, and it is too big to be installed on an airplane."

Xu Yi also said, "If we can get it off the ship, we can just use the rescue plane on the ship; there's no need for any temporary coordination."

Zhou Jimin thought for a moment and said, "May I ask where the people who need the blocking agent are currently located?"

"South America...I can't say exactly where it is!"

"What about the distance?"

After asking the others, Gao Cunyi replied, "The straight-line distance between us and you is about two thousand kilometers."

Zhou Jimin looked at Xu Yi: "How far can our plane fly?"

Xu Yi made an eight gesture: "Over 800 kilometers, one way, no round trip."

Zhou Jimin sighed: "I can think of a way to make a constant temperature chamber, but I can't guarantee the effect."

Gao Cunyi: "Would the effect be better if the dosage was increased?"

“No.” Zhou Jimin shook his head. “The recommended dose is already the maximum dose within the safe range.”

What are the consequences of overdosing on medication?

Zhou Jimin continued to shake his head: "It's not clear yet."

"If the blockade fails, can we salvage it with stem cell transplantation?" Gao Cunyi asked, unwilling to give up. Zhou Jimin was silent for a moment: "Stem cell transplantation is no problem, but whether it can successfully salvage the situation is hard to say."

Gao Cunyi's eyes revealed undisguised disappointment: "Get ready... Captain Xu, please head south immediately, the sooner the better. Formal orders will be issued shortly!"

"it is good!"

"Professor Zhou, please prepare the incubator and blocking agent immediately."

“No problem!” Zhou Jimin said.

After the call ended, Xu Yi asked in surprise, "Old Zhou, where did we get the incubator?"

"Simple, just make one yourself!"

"Build?" Xu Yi was a little confused. With these conditions on the ship?
He had never seen a portable thermostat, but he knew about the thermostats on ships. These things at least had an inner shell, an outer shell, insulation material in between, a power supply, and a temperature control system.

One or two things are manageable on their own, but when you put them all together, it's enough to make your head spin!
Zhou Jimin didn't explain, but immediately gathered people to assign tasks. In no time, they made the finished product—two plastic boxes, one large and one small, nested together, with an outer layer for insulation, a thermometer placed between the inner and outer walls, and a place to add water.

It was so rudimentary it was appalling.

Zhou Jimin pointed to the accompanying thermos: "Add water when it gets cold, add ice when it gets hot. Isn't this just a constant temperature incubator?"

Xu Yi clicked his tongue in admiration: "It's just a bit demanding."

"There's no other way, these are the conditions," Zhou Jimin said. "Arrange for someone to help."

Xu Yi immediately called Lu Wei over: "The target's identity is unknown, but it is certain that he is in the epidemic area. Arrange for someone who is immune to go there."

“I’ll go,” Lu Wei volunteered.

"Alright," Xu Yi agreed.

Before Lu Wei had even left, the communications bay received detailed information from the Dongzhou. Xu Yi frowned after just one glance: "Lu Wei!"

"To!"

"Assemble all personnel fighting the epidemic area, quick!"

Lu Wei's gaze sharpened: "Yes!"

He didn't know what had happened, but his instincts told him that things were definitely not simple.

Upon receiving the message, Ou Yang rushed to the conference room. Most of the others had already arrived and were whispering amongst themselves, speculating about the purpose of the meeting.

Xu Yi glanced at Lu Wei with displeasure: "Why did you call him here?"

Lu Wei was taken aback: "Not all personnel fighting in the epidemic area?"

"He doesn't even have a military rank, so how can he be considered a combatant?" Xu Yi questioned.

Lu Wei realized he had made a mistake and quickly tried to salvage the situation: "I'll send him back right away!"

"Forget it." Xu Yi waved his hand to stop them, then tapped the table, and everyone immediately quieted down.

"Comrades, we have just received news that earlier today, our transport ship Silver Bay was attacked by unidentified armed men while passing through the Banama Canal, resulting in damage and grounding of the ship. The ship has now been captured by the enemy. Of the seventeen crew members, two have been confirmed dead, seven have taken refuge in the safe room but are suspected of inhaling spores, and the condition of the other eight is unknown and they are likely to have fallen into enemy hands."

The conference room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop; all eyes were on Xu Yi.

Xu Yi pressed the remote control, and an electronic map of the southern United States was projected onto the large screen. He pointed to the sea east of Moxige and said, "Our location is here!"

After saying that, he pointed to the canal again: "The incident occurred here, and the straight-line distance between the two points is more than two thousand kilometers!"

"There's one of our warships here and another here, both heading to the scene." Xu Yi pointed to the sea west of Moxi and Milu. "You can all see that we're not the closest of our warships, but we are the closest, and we have blocking agents and special operations personnel!"

Given the enemy's unknown identity and the fact that the incident occurred in one of the areas most severely affected by the epidemic, our superiors ordered us to head south at full speed to deliver the blocking agent to the scene as quickly as possible. The special operations team, in coordination with friendly forces, will do everything in its power to rescue our personnel… Comrades, do you have confidence?!

"Yes!" Everyone stood up at the same time and shouted in unison.

Ou Yang felt a surge of excitement and stood up as well.

"Alright!" Xu Yi slammed his fist on the table, glanced at the time, and said, "The ship is too slow. We've arranged for a seaplane. It should arrive in about two hours. Go back and prepare immediately. Depart as soon as the plane arrives. Meeting adjourned... Ou Yang, stay behind!"
