"Alright! You two, stop fooling around!" Inspector Samezaki finally couldn't help but speak up. "The interrogation is still ongoing. If you interfere with Matsumoto and the others, I won't let you off the hook!"

Kogoro Mouri stopped, panting, glared at Rei Furuya, and walked sullenly to the glass.

Rei Furuya stuck out his tongue and obediently stood next to Shuichi Hayashi.

Silence returned to the monitoring room, and everyone's attention turned back to the interrogation room.

Officer Matsumoto continued to question patiently, while Shinsuke Fuyuyama remained silent. However, when the name "Shizuka Horiuchi" was mentioned, his fingers curled slightly, a subtle movement that was caught by Hideichi Hayashi.

“Shinsuke Fuyuyama’s silence is inextricably linked to Shizuka Horiuchi,” Hideaki Hayashi said in a low voice. “It’s not that he doesn’t want to talk, but that he can’t. Shizuka Horiuchi may have threatened him or given him benefits he couldn’t refuse.”

Eri Kisaki nodded in agreement, saying, "If we can find out the problem between him and Shizuka Horiuchi, we might be able to break his silence."

“Since Fuyuyama Shinsuke has confessed, his residence can be legally searched according to regulations, right?” Hayashi Hideichi turned to Inspector Samezaki. “Have you checked his rented apartment? Maybe you can find clues related to the case.”

“It’s not too late to go now,” Lin Xiuyi suggested. “Since Fuyuyama Shinsuke won’t talk, let’s start with his residence. Maybe we can find evidence of his connection with Horiuchi Shizuka, or clues about the murder weapon.”

Inspector Samezaki immediately nodded in agreement: "Lin-kun is right! I'll have Matsumoto take some men over there right away, you guys..."

Before he could finish speaking, he saw Kogoro Mouri, Yukiko, and the others looking at him expectantly, clearly wanting to go with him.

Inspector Samezaki sighed helplessly and had no choice but to compromise: "Alright, you can come along, but you must follow the rules. You can't touch anything at the scene, and you can't interfere with the investigation."

Everyone excitedly agreed and followed Officer Matsumoto into the police car, heading towards the apartment rented by Shinsuke Fuyuyama.

It was an old apartment building on the edge of Beika Town. The paint on the exterior walls was peeling and mottled, and the stairwell was filled with a damp, musty smell. The narrow staircase was only wide enough for two people to walk side by side.

“I didn’t expect Shinsuke Fuyuyama to live in such a humble place,” Yukiko said softly, covering her nose. She subconsciously moved closer to Shuichi Hayashi, clearly not used to the environment.

Officer Matsumoto used the spare key to open the door. The apartment was very small, with a one-bedroom layout and very little furniture.

The living room contained only a worn-out sofa and an old-fashioned television. The bedroom had a single bed and a peeling wardrobe. The desk was piled high with university textbooks and notes. Apart from that, there were almost no other items.

Officer Matsumoto looked around: "It seems this kid's financial situation isn't very good."

"Do you think Shizuka Horiuchi might have given him a large sum of money to take the blame?" Kogoro Mouri suddenly thought of something, his eyes lighting up. "After all, murder carries a minimum sentence of ten years or more. Without a substantial reward, who would be willing to go to jail?"

The officers have begun a methodical search, with some checking desk drawers, others searching wardrobes, and still others carefully examining the living room.

Rei Furuya and Reiko followed behind Hideichi Hayashi, watching the officers' actions with curiosity and occasionally whispering among themselves.

Not long after, Furuya Rei suddenly clutched his stomach, his face looking rather pale: "Master, I need to pee."

After saying that, he rushed into the bathroom without waiting for Lin Xiuyi's response.

The group continued to observe in the living room. Officer Matsumoto used a magnifying glass to carefully examine the marks in the sofa crevices, hoping to find clues such as hair or fibers.
