Traveling back thirty years to Conan, intercepting Princess Eri

Chapter 453 Mentally ill people are the most terrifying.

"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore," Mr. Morofushi patted Lin Xiuyi on the shoulder. "Let's eat first, and we can talk about other things later."

Dinner was very lavish, with a large table full of food.

The golden and crispy fried pork cutlet is steaming hot, with a small dish of ketchup on the side; the steamed trout is bright in color and has a light fragrance; there are also stir-fried green vegetables, steaming miso soup, and a big bowl of fragrant white rice.

The children sat around a low table, and their sadness was quickly dispelled by the delicious food.

"Try this fried pork cutlet, it's fresh out of the fryer!" Lady Zhufu warmly invited. "Jingguang said you've been playing in the mountains all day, you must be starving."

Rei Furuya picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of fried pork cutlet, and stuffed it into his mouth. The crispy outer layer mixed with the tender meat juices made him exclaim with satisfaction, "Wow, this is so delicious!"

Yamamura Tsao ate with his mouth full of oil, nodding repeatedly.

Although Morofushi Kagemitsu's knee was still hurting, he immediately smiled when he saw his friends enjoying their meal.

Lin Xiuyi sat near the corridor, her gaze drifting to the window from time to time, unable to let go of the man named Wai Shouyi.

He always felt that things weren't that simple. A person who has lost all their loved ones might act irrationally under immense grief and obsession.

According to Mr. Zhu Fu, Wai Shouyi refused to accept reality and repeatedly went to the school to cause trouble and demand his daughter, which clearly indicates that he has mental problems.

"Mr. Lin, is it not to your liking?" Madam Zhu Fu asked with concern.

“No, it’s delicious,” Lin Xiuyi said, turning her gaze away and picking up a piece of fried pork cutlet. “I was just thinking about some things.”

Mr. Zhufu poured him a cup of tea: "Don't worry too much. Although Mr. Gaishi's behavior is a bit extreme, he is not a bad person at heart. Give him some time, and he will definitely come to his senses."

Lin Xiuyi took the teacup, the amber liquid shimmering slightly under the light: "I hope so."

Dinner ended in a pleasant atmosphere. While Mrs. Morofushi was clearing away the dishes, Morofushi Kagemitsu fell asleep on the sofa with a satisfied smile on his face.

Rei Furuya and Misao Yamamura were also a little sleepy, yawning and leaning against each other.

"Thank you so much for your help today." Lin Xiuyi stood up and said to Mr. and Mrs. Zhufu, "It's getting late, we should head back now."

……

By the time they left the Morofushi residence, it was completely dark.

The streetlights in the town cast a dim yellow light, and an occasional evening breeze blew by, carrying a hint of coolness.

Lin Xiuyi glanced back at the window of the Zhu Fu family's house. Under the lamplight, Madam Zhu Fu was covering the sleeping Jing Guang with a blanket, a scene of warmth and tranquility.

"Shuichi, what are you thinking about?" Kogoro Mouri patted him on the shoulder.

"It's nothing," Lin Xiuyi shook his head, "I just feel that Waishuichi is very dangerous, and the Morofu family..."

"Don't think about it too much. Mr. Morofushi said it's all fine," Kogoro Mori said casually. "He's a local, so he definitely knows that Tomokazu better than you do."

……

Night had fallen, and the town's streetlights cast dim, yellowish glows in the thin mist.

Rei Furuya lay on Hideichi Hayashi's back, nodding his head back and forth.

On the other side, Yamamura Misao was hanging on Kogoro Mouri's back like a koala, with a trace of drool hanging from the corner of his mouth.

"These two little guys are finally quiet." Fukuda Hidekazu walked ahead, holding a flashlight. "They must have been exhausted today." Lin Xiuyi gave a soft "hmm" and patted Furuya Rei's bottom to make sure he wouldn't slip off.

The night breeze, carrying the fresh scent of rice paddies, brushed against my cheeks, and the distant barking of dogs made the night even more tranquil.

Just as they were about to leave the town, the lights of a small supermarket pierced the night.

Lin Xiuyi glanced casually through the glass window and suddenly froze.

Kogoro Mori noticed something was wrong and turned to ask, "What's wrong?"

Behind the glass window, a man in a dark trench coat was selecting items from the shelves.

Even from a distance, Lin Xiuyi could recognize the familiar wide-brimmed hat and sinister profile; it was none other than Gaishuichi, who had previously been monitoring the Morofu family.

“You guys go first,” Lin Xiuyi’s voice suddenly became tense as he moved the sleeping Furuya Rei into Fukuda Hidekazu’s arms. “I have something to confirm.”

Fukuda Hidekazu hurriedly took the child, looking bewildered: "What's going on...?"

Before he could finish asking, Kogoro Mouri had already shoved Misao Yamamura over to him: "I'll go help Shuichi."

"Where are you two going?" Fukuda Hidekazu awkwardly hugged the two sleeping children, standing there looking at their backs with a blank expression.

……

Pushing open the door of the small supermarket, Lin Xiuyi casually walked towards the beverage section, but her eyes were fixed on Wai Shouyi's figure out of the corner of her eye.

The man was selecting a bento box in the fast food section, his movements mechanical and hurried, the half of his face peeking out from under his wide-brimmed hat appearing unnaturally pale.

"Shuichi, what exactly are you trying to do?" Kogoro Mouri asked in a low voice, his fingers nervously tapping on the shelf.

Lin Xiuyi did not answer immediately, but instead pretended to choose a drink and quietly approached Waishouyi.

From this angle, he could clearly see the man's shopping basket: several fast food meals, bottled water, and... a large bundle of rope.

Lin Xiuyi's pupils contracted slightly.

"Let's go. We don't know anyone here, so let's not meddle in other people's business..." Kogoro Mouri gently tugged at his friend's sleeve.

Before he could finish speaking, Lin Xiuyi suddenly raised his voice, his tone carrying a hint of deliberate surprise.
"What did you say? Mr. Zhu Fu and his family are moving out of this town tomorrow?"

Kogoro Mouri paused, blinked, and looked confused. When did I say that?

Fortunately, their years of tacit understanding made him immediately realize that his friend was acting. Although he didn't understand the intention, he quickly got into character.
"Yes! I heard Mr. Zhu Fu say that while we were having dinner at Zhu Fu's house. He said that recently there have been people lurking around his house, and he's worried about the safety of his family, so he plans to pack his things tonight and move out first thing tomorrow morning to live somewhere else."

"Oh, what a pity,"

Lin Xiuyi sighed in agreement, pretending to pick up a bag of potato chips and look through it, while keeping a close eye on Gaishuichi's reaction out of the corner of his eye.
"Ling also said that once Jingguang's leg heals, they should go fishing together by the stream again. Now that's bad, I'm afraid we won't have that chance anymore."

The man's back stiffened noticeably, and the lunchbox in his hand made a cracking sound as he gripped it.

"It's a pity that Ling and the others can't play with Jingguang anymore," Lin Xiuyi continued making things up. "The kids clearly had such a good relationship..."

“Yes, Kagemitsu is such a lovable kid,” Kogoro Mori racked his brains to finish the sentence. “I heard his family is moving to a very far place, I wonder if it’s Hokkaido? Or Okinawa?” (End of Chapter)
