Traveling back thirty years to Conan, intercepting Princess Eri

In the secret base, Lin Xiuyi was lying on a checkered blanket, pretending to be asleep.

The hut that Yamamura Misao and Morobushi Kagemitsu built with tree branches was quite spacious, just enough for him to stretch out his legs.

The canvas overhead was scorching hot from the sun, and the air was thick with the damp, earthy smell. Not a breath of wind could get in, making the secret base feel like a stuffy, airtight steamer.

Lin Xiuyi closed her eyes, unable to fall asleep, and could only try to soothe herself by listening to the incessant chirping of cicadas outside.

Lin Xiuyi lay there listlessly for who knows how long when he suddenly noticed footsteps approaching from afar.

The sound of footsteps on the thick layer of fallen leaves began as a soft rustling, but as it approached the secret base, it suddenly became more fragmented, as if someone was deliberately tiptoeing, pausing occasionally, carrying a hint of sneakiness.

Lin Xiuyi raised an eyebrow, his thin lips curving upwards slightly. Without even looking, he knew who it was.

He sat up calmly, placed his canvas backpack in the middle of the blanket as his torso, put a water bottle and an insect net on either side as his arms, and finally put his dark gray coat on top of it, even making a wad of tissue paper at the collar to serve as his "head".

At first glance, it really does look like a person curled up there sleeping.

After doing all this, Lin Xiuyi crouched down and hid behind a thick tree trunk next to the entrance of the secret base, holding her breath.

He had just hidden himself when he saw Rei Furuya's little golden head peek in from outside.

Upon seeing the "sleeping human figure" in the middle, the kid immediately revealed a smug, wicked grin.

He tiptoed in, clutching a clear glass jar tightly in his hand. Inside the jar, a tiny spider, no bigger than a fingernail, was leisurely crawling around.

Rei Furuya carefully unscrewed the lid of the jar, then took a deep breath and suddenly flipped the jar upside down onto "Hayashi Hideichi's" back.

But just then, a hand suddenly reached out from the side and grabbed his wrist!

"Wow!"

Rei Furuya was so startled he almost threw the can away, leaping two steps to the side and slamming his back heavily against the tree trunk supporting the shack.

When he saw that the person who came was Lin Xiuyi, his eyes widened and his mouth opened into an "O" shape, and he couldn't close it for a long time.

"Master, what's wrong with you...?"

Rei Furuya glanced at Shuichi Hayashi, then at the pile of debris covered by a coat on the ground, and immediately realized that his little trick had been seen through long ago.

"You want to pour spiders on me?"

Lin Xiuyi crossed her arms, her eyebrows raised high.

Rei Furuya shamelessly tried to argue, backing away as he spoke, ready to run away at any moment.

"You still remember you were holding a spider?" Lin Xiuyi pointed at his chest in an annoyed tone.

"Huh?" Furuya Rei was taken aback and looked down following his gaze.

Before he knew it, the spider had crawled out of the jar and was now perched on his T-shirt, its eight hairy legs moving slowly.

"ah!"

Rei Furuya was terrified and frantically tried to use a glass bottle to try and pry it off, but he lost his grip in his panic.

Startled, the spider quickly scurried inside his open collar!
"Ah! I'm in! I'm in!" Furuya Rei screamed like a cat whose tail had been stepped on as he rushed out of the secret base, flailing his hands wildly at his clothes.

Kogoro Mouri and the others had been hiding in the shade of the trees outside, as agreed, ready to see Hideaki Hayashi's humiliating reaction. As they were peeking into the base, they saw Rei Furuya rush out, his face pale, jumping and tearing at his clothes while making incoherent shouts.

"What's going on here?"

Kogoro Mouri, with a blade of grass dangling from his mouth, scratched his head in surprise, causing the grass to fall out of his mouth.

"That kid deserved it."

Lin Xiuyi slowly emerged from the base, dusting off his hands.
"He tried to scare me with a spider, but instead, the spider crawled into his own clothes."

"Master! I was wrong!"

Rei Furuya was so anxious that tears were almost streaming down his face; his voice was trembling with sobs, and his hands were frantically groping behind his back.

"Quickly, help me get the spider out!"

"Don't worry, this kind of spider isn't poisonous."

Zhu Fujingguang quickly stepped forward and gently comforted him.

"Don't move around, it usually won't bite."

"You make it sound so easy!"

Rei Furuya was trembling, his voice shaking.
"I can feel it crawling on my back... Get it out of there!"

Lin Xiuyi suppressed a laugh and walked over, quickly tearing off Furuya Rei's short-sleeved shirt, but he didn't find the spider on Furuya Rei's back.

“Master,” Furuya Rei said with a mournful face, swallowing nervously, “the spider seems to have crawled onto my thigh.”

Lin Xiuyi hurriedly reached out and pulled down Furuya Rei's pants, only to see the spider lying on his apprentice's knee, slowly stretching its legs.

He bent his finger and flicked it lightly. The spider fell to the ground with a "whoosh" and scrambled into the grass and disappeared.

Rei Furuya, now shirtless with his pants pulled down to his ankles and only wearing blue underwear, had several red scratches on his fair skin from his frantic struggle.

"Haha, I should have brought the camera," Kogoro Mouri laughed gleefully. "If this scene had been captured on camera, it would have been a very memorable moment."

Yamamura Misao stood by, laughing and watching the fun.

Fortunately, Morobuchi Kagemitsu had a good personality and quickly picked up the clothes that Lin Xiuyi had thrown on the ground and handed them over.

Furuya Rei blushed as he took the clothes, trembling as he put them on, his eyes filled with the relief of surviving a disaster.

His antics immediately livened up the previously somewhat dull atmosphere.

Lin Xiuyi opened his backpack and distributed the bread and soda he had bought at the village store that morning to everyone. In addition, there were salted plum rice balls and pickled radishes that the old lady in the mountain village had asked him to take.

After eating, and seeing that the weather was getting hotter and hotter, it was clear that catching insects was out of the question.

Yamamura Misao and Morobushi Kagemitsu exchanged a glance, their eyes lighting up simultaneously.
