Chapter 347 Give me back Eunice!
"He likes his own sister?" Officer Matsumoto's brows furrowed deeply. "That guy is a pervert?"

Lin Xiu nodded, her gaze lingering on the serene-looking head.

In the formalin solution, Mari Ogasawara's face appeared lifelike, as if she were simply asleep.

"This is Mari Ogasawara's head, but what about the head we found in the convenience store before?" Inspector Matsumoto asked, puzzled. "Whose head was that?"

“Two days ago, Yuto Ogasawara attended a funeral,” Hideaki Hayashi speculated. “The deceased was his high school classmate, a girl. He probably managed to steal her head, disfigure it, and put it in a convenience store, waiting to be discovered.”

"But what was his reason for doing this?" Officer Matsumoto's eyes widened.

“It’s probably because President Okawa called the police,” Lin Xiuyi said thoughtfully. “Ogasawara hopes to resolve her sister’s case with the police as soon as possible.”

“But if he wanted to think that way, wouldn’t it have been simpler to just dump Ogasawara Mari’s body?” Officer Matsumoto frowned. “Why go through all that trouble?”

“I think he probably wants to keep his sister’s head,” Lin Xiuyi’s gaze fell on the glass jar again. “With only the body and no head, the police will definitely look for the missing head. By using the head of his dead female classmate to impersonate his sister’s head, he can stop the police from searching and use the scars on his sister’s body to frame President Da Chuan.”

“This guy really is…” Officer Matsumoto shook his head, his expression indescribably complex.

Just as Lin Xiuyi was about to tell the police officers to take away the jar containing Ogasawara Mari's head, two screams suddenly came from the doorway.

He turned his head sharply and saw Eri Kisaki standing at the door with a pale face, peering into the store.

Below her, Reiko also stuck her little head out, but Eri covered her eyes tightly with her hands and was struggling.

"Eri-neechan! Why won't you let me see? Take your hand away!" Reiko's voice was full of dissatisfaction and curiosity.

Lin Xiuyi quickly shielded the glass jar with her body, looking at the two helplessly: "Didn't I tell you to leave? Why are you still peeking?"

“Curious,” Eri Kisaki whispered. “I never imagined that Mari Ogasawara’s head would be here.”

"What? Another head?" Reiko struggled even harder. "Let go! I want to see too!"

Seeing Officer Matsumoto take off his suit jacket and carefully wrap the glass jar, Hayashi Hideichi breathed a sigh of relief and signaled to Kisaki Eri that she could let go of Reiko's hand.

"Huh? Why are you wrapping it up?" Reiko pouted and complained, her eyes darting around as she tried to see what was wrapped up. "Let me see it too, Onii-chan!"

"Stop fooling around," Lin Xiuyi reached out and ruffled his sister's hair. "What's so interesting about a dead person's head? Okay, we need to get back to the Metropolitan Police Department."

He turned to Eri Kisaki, intending to have her take Reiko back to the izakaya, but then he remembered that the girl was the first person to discover the head at the convenience store, and would have to give a statement to the Metropolitan Police Department sooner or later, so he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

On the way back to the Metropolitan Police Department, Reiko was still regretting that she hadn't seen Mari Ogasawara's head.

Eri Kisaki's face was grim the whole way, clearly indicating that seeing two heads in one day had caused her considerable psychological shock.

"What's so interesting about a head?" Lin Xiuyi looked at her little cousin with annoyance. "If you actually saw it, you'd definitely be too scared to sleep tonight."

The little girl glanced at Officer Matsumoto in the front row, then suddenly hugged her brother's arm, leaned close to Lin Xiuyi's ear, and whispered sweetly, "As long as Onii-chan holds me while I sleep, I won't be afraid of anything."

"You..." Lin Xiuyi pinched his sister's cheek helplessly.

Officer Matsumoto was focused on driving and didn't notice the whispers in the back seat. Eri, however, overheard the girl's words, glared angrily at Reiko, and then began questioning her about the case.

Lin Xiuyi then repeated his earlier guess.

"A female classmate's head?" Eri Kisaki asked in surprise. "Isn't cremation the norm these days? How did he get his hands on it?"

"Try bribing the crematorium staff," Lin Xiuyi guessed. "After the family has seen the deceased for the last time, cut off the head before the body goes into the incinerator."

"Would anyone really do that?" Eri Kisaki clenched her fists angrily. "The dead should be respected. They have no respect for the dead at all."

“Making money off the dead is a business that funeral homes and crematoriums have always done,” Lin Xiuyi said, already used to it. “If the deceased had gold teeth or something similar in life, as long as the family doesn’t say anything, the staff will definitely pull them out and pocket them.”

“I’ve heard similar rumors,” Officer Matsumoto nodded in agreement. “There are even people who make money by selling corpses.”

"Trading corpses?" Reiko's eyes widened in surprise. "People buy corpses?"

“After the bodies are bought, some will be used for medical research, such as dissection and specimens,” Lin Xiuyi explained casually. “Others will be used for ghost marriages.”

"A ghost marriage?" Lingzi blinked, looking confused. "Can dead people get married?"

“Some superstitious people believe that people continue to live in the underworld after they die,” Lin Xiuyi said patiently. “In order to prevent their deceased relatives from being lonely, they will hold ghost marriages for them.”

Metropolitan Police Department.

Upon seeing the head of his sister brought back by Lin Xiuyi and the others, Ogasawara Yuto reacted unusually strongly.

His eyes were bloodshot, veins bulging on his face, and he roared as he tried to grab the glass jar: "Give me back Onassis!"

Officer Matsumoto was prepared for this and executed a beautiful over-the-shoulder throw, slamming Yuto Ogasawara heavily onto the floor.

With a muffled thud, Yuto Ogasawara's body made intimate contact with the floor.

But he seemed not to feel the pain and continued to struggle to get up.

"Onassan! Give me back Onassan!"

Yuto Ogasawara's voice was hoarse and desperate, his face covered in tears and snot.

President Okawa stood to the side, his face ashen. He stared at the head in the glass jar, his lips trembling uncontrollably: "This...this is...Mari? Her...her face was disfigured, wasn't it? What happened?"

“That’s a question for Mr. Ogasawara,” Lin Xiuyi said coldly, looking at Ogasawara Yuto who was pinned to the floor. “Now that things have come to this, will you admit it yourself, or will I have to tell you?”

A brief silence fell over the First Investigation Division's office, broken only by the heavy breathing of Yuto Ogasawara.

After a long pause, he finally spoke, his voice hoarse and barely audible: "I can plead guilty, but you have to give Eunice back to me."
