Chapter 277 Rei Furuya's First Lesson

“Your mother…” Lin Xiuyi’s heart stirred.

“My mother passed away in the hospital two months ago.” The boy lowered his head, his light golden bangs obscuring his reddened eyes. “I will never see her again.”

The boy's thin shoulders trembled slightly, and a suppressed sob lingered in his throat.

Lin Xiuyi was silent for a moment, then reached out and gently ruffled the boy's fluffy blond hair: "Okay, I agree. From today onwards, you are my apprentice!"

"Really?" The boy's previously dim eyes lit up instantly, and a bright smile bloomed on his face. "Then what should I call you, Master or Teacher?"

“Whatever, call me whatever you want,” Lin Xiuyi said thoughtfully. “But I live in Mihua and I have to go to school during the week, so I only have free time on Saturdays and Sundays.”

“Mihua is very close, I can go there by myself on the weekend,” the blond boy said quickly.

"Where is your father?" Lin Xiuyi asked. "Although he doesn't live far away, it would be best to tell him."

“Dad… he’s very busy with work,” Rei Furuya’s voice trailed off, her toes unconsciously tracing circles on the ground. “I rarely see him. But I’ll definitely tell him when I have the chance!”

“Okay,” Lin Xiuyi nodded understandingly. “By the way, I think I heard those kids calling you Jiang Gu?”

"My name is Furuya Rei, Master!" the boy said proudly, straightening his back. "My mother gave me this name."

Falling to zero! Toru Amuro? !

Lin Xiuyi's pupils suddenly contracted as she stared in shock at the little boy in front of her.

Pale blonde hair, wheat-colored skin, purplish-gray pupils—how come I never made that connection before!
"Master?"

Rei Furuya felt a chill run down his spine from the stare and unconsciously took a half-step back, his face full of vigilance.

"I'm just learning to fight from you, you can't do anything else to me, can you?"

"Huh?" Lin Xiu was taken aback. "What did you say?"

“My mother once told me that I must be careful of the priests when I go to church,” Furuya Rei explained earnestly. “Sometimes they make little boys do bad things. Master, you’re not like the priests, are you?”

"I'm your master, not a priest!" Lin Xiuyi said, both amused and exasperated, as she tapped the boy on the head.

"Master, you haven't introduced yourself yet?" Furuya Rei asked curiously. "You're such a good fighter, you must have trained specifically, right? Do you study judo, karate, taekwondo, or boxing...?"

“What kind of skill is it to bully a few kids?” Lin Xiuyi shook his head and gave a simple self-introduction. “I study Sanda and martial arts. If you want to beat those kids, you should be able to do it in two or three months.”

"Really?" Furuya Rei jumped up excitedly, as if he could already see himself defeating the children who bullied him.

“Of course it’s true,” Lin Xiuyi nodded affirmatively. “What I know is primarily geared towards practical application.”

The master and apprentice walked out of the bathroom chatting and laughing, only to see Eri Kisaki leaning against the wall in the corridor, her book lightly tapping her thigh, her eyes filled with a hint of reproach: "Why did it take so long? Is his knee injury alright?"

"It's nothing, just a minor scrape." Before Lin Xiuyi could finish speaking, her sleeve was suddenly tugged gently.

It was Furuya Rei. He stood on tiptoe and asked softly, "Master, is she your girlfriend?"

Upon receiving an affirmative reply, Furuya Rei immediately stood up straight, bowed ninety degrees to Eri Kisaki, and shouted in a loud voice, "Hello, Master's wife! Thank you for your concern, Master's wife. My injury is all healed!"

His shout immediately drew everyone's attention in the library. Eri's face flushed red to her ears, and she looked around frantically, yelling, "Keep your voice down! This is a library!"

After saying that, she glared at Lin Xiuyi reproachfully, while the latter was trying to suppress his laughter so hard that his shoulders were shaking.

"Sorry." Furuya Rei scratched the back of his head sheepishly.

Eri Kisaki, her face flushed, pulled Lin Xiuyi aside and asked in a low voice, "What exactly happened? How did you suddenly become his master?"

“Furuya wants to learn how to fight from me,” Lin Xiuyi explained. “Although I helped him chase away the kids who were bullying him today, what about in the future? He’ll definitely get bullied again. Rather than relying on others for help, he’d better take it upon himself to fight off those bad kids…”

Eri glanced at Rei Furuya not far away. The boy was curiously examining the books on the bookshelf, occasionally looking up in their direction.

"That reason is somewhat acceptable."

"But more important than that reason is that 'Master's wife' you called out just now, isn't it?" Lin Xiuyi raised an eyebrow mischievously. "This kid's pretty good at currying favor."

"Hmph, that's what he called her, but I didn't agree to it," Eri Kisaki said haughtily, turning her face away. "You should let Yukiko, Ikenami, Vineyard, Midori, and Reiko be the 'teacher's wife' instead!"

“You didn’t agree, but I did,” Lin Xiuyi said, pretending not to hear the girl’s last sentence. “By the way, you’re reading in the library, so I’ll go outside and teach him a couple of moves, so he won’t get revenge on those kids when he gets home today.”

"Okay!" Eri glared at him. "I'll come find you guys after I've chosen the books."

……

At the library entrance, Lin Xiuyi found a shady spot and began explaining the key points of fighting to Furuya Rei.
"Remember, fighting isn't about brute force; it's about using your brain..."

After only a couple of sentences, the kid looked disgusted and said, "Master, what you're teaching is too vulgar! Poking eyes, lifting legs, pulling hair, throwing dirt—I'll be laughed at to death."

"You think I want to teach this stuff?" Lin Xiuyi sighed helplessly. "Those kids will definitely cause you trouble again in the next couple of days. How can I scare them off without using some harsh methods? Do you want to get beaten up every day?"

“Besides,” he poked Rei Furuya’s forehead, “aren’t they laughing at you right now?”

"I"

Rei Furuya lowered his head, his blond hair falling down to cover his eyes, his voice muffled.

"Master, are mixed-race people really monsters? Why does everyone hate me?"

“Don’t take what those kids say to heart,” Lin Xiuyi patted the boy on the shoulder. “In fact, those kids are just looking for a child who is different from them to bully and ostracize.”

"When you grow up, being mixed-race will be an advantage; you'll attract a lot of girls."

"Really?" Furuya Rei asked hesitantly.

"Of course it's true. The first thing a person should do is have confidence in himself," Lin Xiuyi admonished. "Also, those kids who bullied you today are actually bullies who prey on the weak."

"Give them a good beating, no matter how honorable the method is, they definitely won't dare to bully you again."

"So, are you still going to study?"

"I'll learn!" Rei Furuya, now convinced, nodded vigorously. "Please teach me, Master!"
