Chapter 38 Hollow Rescue - The Wrath of the Dark

Dead end, deep in the void...

"Mommy, I'm scared~" A little girl huddled fearfully in her mother's arms. The woman held the trembling girl tightly, a black dragon scale in her mouth. The people around them, covered in dust and dirt, huddled together, each with a dragon scale in their mouth, a symbol of hope.

All eyes were fixed on the vigilant cat demon ahead, while the cat demon, forcibly brought here by Ming Che, looked resentful. She also had a dragon scale in her mouth. The cat demon glanced back at the victim, seeing herself as a savior.

He recalled his conversation with Ming Che five minutes earlier on the train. Ming Che had grabbed Mao You by the neck with one hand, lifting him into the air, and said in a cold tone, "I'll give you a chance to do something for me. I'll let bygones be bygones for what happened when you hit my little brother."

Before the cat could refuse, Mingche forcibly stuffed a dragon scale into her mouth. He then threatened the cat, saying she shouldn't spit it out if she didn't want to die. Afterward, wisps of electricity appeared on Mingche's wrist, forming a lightning bracelet.

To the cat's surprise, he found himself bound by chains of lightning. Mingche released his grip, and the cat landed hard on the carpet. To the cat's horror, Mingche spread his dragon wings and leaped out of the train window.

The cat stared in confusion at the window where Mingche had left, wondering how he had suddenly flown out. While the cat was still bewildered, the next second, "Hey, wait a minute! Meow!" the lightning chains around him unleashed a tremendous pulling force, sending the cat flying out of the window along with him.

After passing through several spatial rifts, the two arrived at an open space at the deepest part of the void. Ming Che had previously flicked his arm lightly, causing the cat to be pulled and thrown towards the ground, just before it hit the ground.

Mingche quickly teleported behind the cat demon and grabbed the back of its collar to stop the impact of the fall. "Are you alright, meow?" The expected pain did not come. The cat demon slowly opened its eyes and realized that it was still some distance from the ground.

Just as the cat was still in surprise, Mingche quickly let go. "Meow! Ouch! Couldn't you be a little gentler?" The cat lay on the ground, rubbing its red nose, and looked up at the culprit with a resentful expression.

Ignoring the cat's murderous glare, Mingche tossed down a small black bag and flew away. Curious, the cat picked it up and opened it, finding inside a dozen gleaming black dragon scales.

"Distribute these scales to the victims behind you and tell them to put them in their mouths." Mingche's voice came from afar. Hearing this, Maoyou turned around and saw several people hiding behind cover, looking at him with fear.
…………

Thinking of this, the cat frowned again, inwardly furious: What a strange fellow. Just as the cat was worrying about what to do next, Eis, lying on the ground, emitted a faint electronic sound. "Buzz...buzz."

The cat's ears twitched, and it quickly picked up Ies and brought its ears to the transmitter. "Buzz... Cat, buzz... Please... buzz, respond..." Hearing this, the cat's eyes lit up, and it quickly spoke to Ies's receiver:
"Ropesmith! I've run into a problem here. How long will it take you to fix the equipment?" As soon as he finished speaking, an unstable voice came from the Ies speaker, "Zzz... Zzz what happened! The equipment... Zzz soon... Zzz... it'll be fixed soon."

…………

Meanwhile, inside a small room at the video store on Sixth Street...

"Brother, when will the equipment be fixed? Cat said she needs us because of something on her end." Ling sat in the computer chair in front of Fairy, with an electronic screen showing a dead end and a void in the computer.

On the computer screen, a huge red dot is moving rapidly outwards. Deep within the void, dozens of small green dots are clustered together.

Zhe, under Fairy's guidance, was meticulously adjusting the HAND device. Fairy's voice came from the computer: "Assistant Number Two, you should install the processor you have into slot number three."

Upon hearing this, Zhe inserted the processor into slot number three. Under Fairy's guidance, Zhe quickly completed the HAND modification. "Phew~ Done. Ling, move aside, let me put this in and test it." A few minutes later...

"Alright, Ling, try connecting to IAS?" Zhe stood up, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and stepped back a few paces to let Ling try operating the new device. Hearing this, Ling, who was sitting on the sofa, stood up, stretched, and quickly went to sit down in front of the computer.

Ling exclaimed in surprise as she looked at the completely renovated HAND: "Wow! Brother, when did your skills become so amazing? This is nothing like the old-fashioned device you had before. It's like a product from two different eras."

Zhe was secretly pleased by his sister's praise, but he remained nonchalant on the surface. He said indifferently, "What's so special about that? Your brother knows a lot more than you do, you just don't know it." Ling chuckled and ignored Zhe's boasting.

…………

"Thump thump thump!" Hati, a mutated and infamous armored creature with four thick limbs, was running rapidly along the railway tracks. Every step it took caused the ground to shake violently, and low-level skeletons in its path would retreat in all directions.

"Roar! Sizzle!" Little White roared, silver arcs of electricity crackling wildly around its body. As the arcs crackled faster and faster, an electric magnetic field formed around Little White, and the train behind it, pulled by the lightning chains wrapped around Little White, moved rapidly along the railway.

Inside the train, Ming Che stood in a carriage filled with etheric explosives, counting how much reward he would have left after deducting the costs of feeding and donating. To his surprise, he discovered he had even paid for a can of high-concentration etheric energy out of pocket.

Thinking of this, Mingche lowered his eyes, lost in thought, standing there alone, motionless, the atmosphere around him becoming oppressive. Just then, Xiaoyu and his two companions happened to pass by, noticing Mingche's unusual behavior, and stood at the doorway exchanging bewildered glances.

"Old... Waaah~" The fat man was about to ask Ming Che what was wrong when the skinny monkey and Xiao Yu hurriedly covered his mouth with their hands and dragged him aside. Seeing that Ming Che hadn't noticed them, Xiao Yu slapped the fat man on the head without saying a word.

Still not satisfied after hitting him, he grabbed the fat man's ear and twisted it. He brought his face close to the fat man's, glared at him, and gritted his teeth, saying, "You fatso, do you have a death wish?! Can't you see the boss is on the verge of exploding?"

"Waaaaah~" The fat man, whose mouth was covered by the skinny monkey, could only make whimpering sounds. Seeing this, Xiaoyu released his grip on the fat man's ear, then glanced at the skinny monkey and saw him release his hand from the fat man's mouth. "Ahhh~ Brother Xiao, what happened to the boss?"

"Of course it is..." Hearing this, Xiaoyu was about to speak when the skinny guy interrupted, "Are you stupid?! It's because of the despicable things Yuanjing Company did that angered the boss." The fat guy nodded as if he understood, "I see, I get it."

"Skinny Monkey, you think you know everything, huh?" Xiaoyu, interrupted, glared at the self-important Skinny Monkey with a gloomy face. He then instructed, "Don't just stand there like idiots. Go tell the brothers to stay away from the boss unless necessary."

"If anyone dares to act recklessly in front of the boss, they'll get beaten up. Don't say I didn't warn them." Seeing that the two were still unmoved, Xiaoyu got angry and raised his hand, slapping both of them on the head.

He lowered his voice and urged, "Hurry up and go! If anything happens, I'll hold you two accountable!" Hearing this, the fat and thin men hurriedly turned around and ran off to relay Xiaoyu's instructions to the others.

Seeing the two walk away, Xiaoyu shook her head helplessly and quietly peeked out from the door to check on Mingche. Finding that Mingche hadn't done anything else, she leaned against the door frame and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
