Chapter 518 Time Passes So Fast
"Go now!!!"
When she said the second sentence, Aunt Jin even pinched Old Jin's arm, still not satisfied.
Old Jin winced in pain: "Just open the door, why are you pinching me!"
Aunt Jin retorted angrily, "Why are you pinching me?! You're the one who brought these people here! You'd better deal with them!"
Old Jin looked displeased.
He picked up his chopsticks, intending to finish the last drop of soup in the bowl.
But Aunt Jin didn't give him a chance at all, snatching the bowl away and angrily saying:
"Go!"
Old Jin reluctantly walked out, grumbling under his breath.
To his surprise, the knocking stopped before he even reached the door!
Um? ? ? ?
People are gone?
Old Jin paused for a moment, then tiptoed and the dog tiptoed quietly to the front door.
He crouched down, peering out through the crack in the door with his right eye.
It would have been better not to look at the results!
As soon as he pressed his face against the crack in the door, he saw a large eyeball peering through the crack.
Before Lao Jin could react,
Then, a loud "Aow!" came from behind the door, followed by Chen Dazhi's scream.
That shout almost scared Old Jin to death.
"Oh my god!"
Old Jin's heart was pounding wildly, and his legs trembled so badly that he almost fell to the ground.
When he finally realized what was happening, Old Jin was furious and flung open the door.
Chen Dazhi stood in the snow, grinning like a mouse stealing oil. His cotton hat was askew, and he had a bulging cloth bag tucked under his arm.
Chen Luyang followed behind, shivering from the cold.
"See?! I told you, your Uncle Jin is definitely home!"
Seeing Lao Jin open the door, Chen Dazhi shook the snow off his clothes, turned around with a smug look on his face, and said to Chen Luyang:
Turning his head, Chen Dazhi looked displeased:
"You old fool, pretending no one's home!"
Old Jin was trembling with anger, pointing at Chen Dazhi and cursing loudly:
"Chen Dazhi, why are you always thinking about harming me in the middle of the night?"
"Your son is back, can't you just go home and be happy? Why do you have to come all the way here!"
"Let me tell you, if you scare me to death, let's see what you'll do then!"
"Look at you, you get all worked up over nothing."
Chen Dazhi shamelessly squeezed through the door and tried to go inside.
“My second son came back from Pian’er City and specially bought you some imported canned food. I figured you had to be the first to eat it!”
"That's why we came despite the wind and snow."
"Otherwise, how free would I be to come all this way to see you in this heavy snow?"
Old Jin rolled his eyes: "You think you're not free?"
After scolding Old Chen,
Old Jin turned his head and looked at Chen Luyang with a smile:
"Oh, my nephew's back! How was your time away? Did you adjust well?"
Chen Luyang smiled and said, "I'm doing alright, I'm quite used to it, but nowhere is as good as home. Uncle Jin, how have you been lately?"
Just as Jin Da Kui was about to answer, Chen Da Zhi, acting as if he were one of them, interrupted and shouted:
“Your Uncle Jin is in better health than me. Come on, let’s not block the way here, let’s go inside and chat.”
Seeing that Chen Dazhi was really going to squeeze in, Old Jin quickly stepped sideways to block him.
Last time, I was too soft-hearted and let that old man into the house. As a result, Chen Dazhi took out a beat-up old razor and showed it off to him for almost half the night.
After showing off for so long, they simply stopped leaving.
In the end, the two old geezers squeezed together on the kang (a heated brick bed) and slept until dawn!
This time he learned his lesson and was determined not to let history repeat itself!
"Hey, hey, hey?! Just say what you need to say here, don't come inside!"
Old Jin waved his hand, looking determined to block the doorway.
Seeing Old Jin standing in front of them, Chen Dazhi and Chen Luyang both looked puzzled.
The two of them had been knocking on the door for ages, freezing cold, and were just waiting to go inside and warm up.
To everyone's surprise, Old Jin wouldn't let them in!
Looking at the light shining through the window,
Chen Dazhi suddenly lowered his voice, pointed his thick finger into the room, and asked mysteriously in a low voice:
"Is someone inside?"
Old Jin didn't react immediately, but nodded subconsciously: "Yes, there's someone!"
Chen Dazhi was taken aback, narrowed his eyes, and lowered his voice even further: "Who is it? Are you hiding someone?"
As he spoke, he poked his head into the house, looking very pleased with himself:
"Hey Lao Jin, with your old arms and legs, you're still doing fancy tricks?"
Old Jin was so angry he almost fainted.
His eyes widened, and he raised his hand fiercely: "Get lost! You're just spouting nonsense!"
"So what if there's someone inside? My wife is inside, isn't that a person?"
Chen Dazhi deliberately dragged out his words, feigning sudden realization, and raised his eyebrows smugly as he said,
"Oh dear, I was wondering why you wouldn't let me in! You were afraid your sister-in-law would be envious when she saw the nice foreign stuff I brought back?"
"Fuck your mother's fart!"
Upon hearing "good things from abroad," Old Jin's anger flared up instantly.
"It's just a few broken cans of food! What's there to brag about! My pickled cabbage and glass noodles can still outshine yours!"
Chen Dazhi, smug and with his nostrils flared, scoffed: "Tch!"
"You don't know anything! This is called Campbell's Soup! It's imported! People line up in long queues all over town to buy it, and you can't necessarily get it even if you have the money!"
As he spoke, Chen Dazhi raised the pot of Jinbao Soup in his arms and deliberately waved it in front of the bright lights in the room.
The tin can reflected the light, making Old Jin squint.
Chen Luyang quickly added fuel to the fire: "Uncle Jin, I carried this back from Pian'er City, it's very rare!"
"I specifically chose this because I knew you're a picky eater!"
Kim Dae-kyu scoffed and exhaled a puff of white breath from his nostrils.
"So what if it's imported? It's still just canned food. It's just soup. Isn't our homemade bone broth better than this?"
The two old men argued back and forth for a long time.
Finally, Aunt Jin shouted from inside the house, "Da Kui, why are you still standing at the door? It's freezing, and you won't let me in?!"
Old Jin reluctantly moved half his body aside to let the father and son squeeze into the room.
As soon as Chen Luyang entered the house, he smelled a delicious aroma of pickled cabbage stewed with pork bones!
It's a good thing he ate a full meal before coming; otherwise, he would have had two bowls before leaving.
Although Chen Dazhi has always been shameless when it comes to Jin Da Kui's problems.
However, since Aunt Jin was at home and eating, he couldn't be too presumptuous.
Chen Dazhi could only suppress his inner desire to show off and express, in a grand yet simple way, how good and expensive the soup was!
He also took the opportunity to praise his son for being so successful and for all the great things he had accomplished in the city.
Kim Dae-kyu had been mentally prepared for all of this long ago.
He listened as Chen Dazhi spoke.
If you don't engage, Chen Dazhi will eventually get tired of talking and stop when he realizes it's pointless.
But just because he doesn't say anything doesn't mean Aunt Jin won't say anything!
Chen Luyang was someone Aunt Jin had watched grow up since he was a child; he looked almost like half a child of her own.
Upon hearing that the child was doing well in the town, they immediately bombarded him with questions:
Do you like the food?
How's the accommodation?
Are you still helping out at the factory?
Chen Dazhi was just worried about not having a chance to promote his son, and now that he finally has Aunt Jin as an audience member, he's really got his fix.
The two of them started chatting, one sentence after another.
Old Jin rolled his eyes. Fine, enough with the nagging!
Halfway through their conversation, Chen Dazhi got too hot and casually took off his cotton-padded coat.
Old Jin was immediately delighted when he took his clothes off.
"Hey Chen Dazhi, what kind of fashion is this?! Why are you tucking your vest into your pants? Doesn't that make you uncomfortable?"
As he spoke, he reached out to pull Chen Dazhi's vest outwards.
Chen Dazhi hurriedly protected her, shouting:
"What do you know! Everyone dresses like this now, it's fashionable!"
As he spoke, he ran his fingers back and forth over his shiny leather belt, as if afraid that others wouldn't see it.
"Hey? Your belt is nice! Where did you buy it?" Old Jin asked curiously when he saw the belt.
This question turned out to be quite something.
Chen Dazhi immediately raised an eyebrow, looking as smug as a peacock spreading its tail feathers:
"My son specially bought this for me from Piancheng! They don't sell it here at all!"
Saying,
He simply stood up, stretched out his hips, stood on tiptoe, bent his waist forward, and even deliberately turned around so that Kim Dae-kyu could see him clearly.
Her poses were incredibly alluring and seductive.
This time, let alone Aunt Jin,
Even Chen Luyang couldn't help but lower her head, scratching her knees with her hands, too embarrassed to look up.
That's so annoying!
Kim Dae-kyu's eyes were practically rolling to the sky!
Two hours later.
Chen Dazhi, still feeling unsatisfied, led Chen Luyang and left Old Jin's house, heading instead to Old Yin's house.
In the dimly lit alley, the snow continued to fall.
Chen Luyang watched Chen Dazhi's retreating figure, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Chen Dazhi walked ahead against the wind and snow, wearing a cotton hat, a dark blue cotton-padded coat, and green cotton gloves. He carried Jinbao soup for his old brothers on his shoulder, and his footsteps crunched on the snow.
The heavy cans of food rested on Chen Dazhi's broad, sturdy shoulders, bouncing with each step he took.
On a dark, snowy night, a loving father, carrying a heavy load, walked ahead to clear the way for his son...
This scene is clearly a touching moment of fatherly love as vast as a mountain, bringing tears to one's eyes.
But why does this scene feel so smug when it's shifted to Chen Dazhi?
"Keep up! Can't walk anymore?!"
Chen Dazhi noticed that the footsteps behind him had slowed down, so he turned around and shouted, his tone revealing his disdain.
"Coming, coming!" Chen Luyang snapped out of her daze and quickly jogged to catch up.
"You're wasting time!" Chen Dazhi cursed, exasperated by his son's incompetence.
"If I hadn't brought you along, I would have already delivered everything to the Yin family by now."
Helpless, Chen Luyang quickened her pace, her footsteps crunching through the snow as she followed.
"Dad, walk slowly, the snow is slippery."
"Slippery my ass!" Chen Dazhi glanced at him, his face full of disgust.
"A grown man like you, panting like this after just a few steps? Aren't you ashamed!"
As he spoke, he deliberately swung the can on his shoulder, shook his body, and his feet stomped along as if he were riding on wheels of fire, making a loud, powerful stomping sound that sent snowflakes flying.
wipe……
Ok!
Chen Luyang rolled her eyes inwardly.
Alright, Dad, is this a gift?
They're clearly on tour showing off!
He kept showing off until almost midnight before he came back.
Poor Chen Luyang spent two days and one night on the train. After having a meal at home, she braved the wind and snow to follow Chen Dazhi to almost half of the machinery factory.
Even the toughest man would be exhausted by now.
When I got home, my older sister and brother-in-law were already asleep, cuddling Junjun.
Xiaoling was already fast asleep in bed.
Only Feng Jiuxiang remained on the kang (a heated brick bed), knitting a sweater while waiting for her husband and son to return.
After saying goodnight to her parents, Chen Luyang went into her room, took off her clothes, lay down on the bed, and fell into a deep sleep!
I slept soundly until the world seemed to end.
Until the morning, Chen Luyang vaguely heard the door creak open in her sleep.
Chen Luyang didn't pay any attention and continued to lie sprawled on the bed snoring.
After spending the past six months living in dormitories and sleeping near the West Railway Station, Chen Luyang had become completely indifferent to the noises of doors opening and closing.
But just as Chen Luyang was sleeping soundly,
A dozen or so drops of icy water fell from the sky, splashing onto his face, neck, and hands.
This isn't the middle of summer, it's the dead of winter!
The few drops of water that were flicked out woke Chen Luyang up from the cold.
Chen Luyang suddenly opened her eyes with a start, her heart pounding, and the hairs on her body stood on end.
My sleepiness vanished instantly, not a trace left!
Upon closer inspection, I saw the two culprits in front of the bed laughing so hard they were doubled over.
Chen Luyang gritted her teeth, took a deep breath, and shouted like thunder: "Chen Xiaoling, Sun Junjun!!!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of laughter erupted in the room.
Seeing that their goal had been achieved, Chen Xiaoling and Sun Junjun ran out laughing with satisfaction.
Their silhouettes looked like two horses from Changbai Mountain, galloping incredibly fast.
"Those two brats!!!" Chen Luyang gritted her teeth and pounded the bed.
I was just looking forward to sleeping in, but they ruined everything!
Reluctantly tossing and turning in bed a few more times, Chen Luyang resignedly put on her clothes, got up, and walked out of the room with a head full of messy hair.
Taking advantage of the holiday, Chen Lihong and Sun Zhigang got busy early, piling up all the bed sheets, blankets, clothes, pants, and socks in the house, preparing for a "major cleaning".
Outside the house, Chen Xiaoling and Sun Junjun split up, one mopping the floor and the other sweeping the yard.
Upon seeing Chen Luyang emerge, the two of them immediately resembled Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, each placing their weapons against their chests, poised for battle at any moment.
cut……
Chen Luyang rolled her eyes at them, too lazy to bother with them.
When he got back yesterday, it was already dark, and he hadn't had time to look at it closely.
I took a look today and the yard is really clean!
Wooden boards, coal, radishes, cabbages, and potatoes were all neatly arranged, and sauerkraut jars and garlic jars were also stacked up in an orderly fashion.
Even the chicken coop seems to have been renovated.
"Mom, why is our yard so neatly tidied up this year?" Chen Luyang asked with a smile.
“Of course it’s perfectly straight! It’s all dried by the river.” Feng Jiuxiang replied while chopping pickled vegetables in the kitchen.
“That child insisted that since you weren’t home, there had to be a boy at home to help with the chores, so he would come over to help every few days, and you couldn’t stop him from doing so.”
"What you see here was all done by him before he went home!"
Chen Luyang raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "I didn't realize you were such a perfectionist by the river."
"Mom, time flies so fast, it's almost Chinese New Year again."
“I still remember last year, I went home for the New Year wearing the cotton-padded jacket and trousers you made for him by the river. Now it’s New Year again.”
Feng Jiuxiang also sighed, "Indeed, the years go by so fast."
