Age: My Small World

Chapter 764: Open coffin and autopsy

It was already around 10 p.m., but Qi Changyu didn't seem to have any intention of resting.

Moreover, even now, there is still some light in the sky outside, indicating that ten o'clock here in the border city is probably similar to six or seven o'clock in the capital.

"Let's take a look."

Yang Jun divided the materials that Qi Changyu had given him.

So the three of them watched it together.

Before long, when they came to their senses, each of them had a bowl of noodles in front of them, with stir-fried meat sauce on top.

"Let's take a break and try the local specialty mixed noodles, they're quite delicious."

Qi Changyu called out.

The three of them were quite hungry anyway, so they picked up the food without any hesitation.

"Isn't Director Qi going to eat?" Yang Jun asked when he had a moment.

Qi Changyu swallowed hard before shaking his head with a smile: "I've already eaten, you guys eat."

He probably didn't eat much for dinner, and the food was rather ordinary, which is why he reacted.

"I have too much food here, I can't finish it all. Could you help me share some, Director?"

How could Yang Jun possibly not have enough to eat? He just wanted to find an excuse to let Qi Changyu have a bite too.

People are really honest these days. Qi Changyu treated them to all the good food, while he himself went hungry.

Don't assume that just because this base is so big, Qi Changyu, as the director, can live a life of luxury; that's not the case at all.

This is actually a tough job. Not only do you have to endure the lack of resources, but more importantly, you have to do your job well, even beyond the original estimate, in order to complete the task assigned by your superiors and live up to the expectations of the people.

Qi Changyu quickly waved his hand: "You're a big boy who's still growing, what can't you eat? Eat up."

"We really can't eat this much, it will be a waste if we don't finish it later."

Without saying a word, Yang Jun got up, took Qi Changyu's tea mug, and then scooped out most of the noodles for him.

"That's just right."

As Yang Jun spoke, he pushed the teacup back to Qi Changyu, and then quickly slurped up his noodles.

Qi Changyu had no choice but to add another pair of chopsticks and then eat with the others.

Yang Jun certainly didn't lack food; if he wanted to eat, he could even slaughter chickens and cattle at any time. Unfortunately, these supplies couldn't be provided to Qi Changyu and the others.

After eating and drinking their fill, everyone became more focused and attentive when reviewing the materials, as they were somewhat dizzy from not having eaten before.

"So? Can you figure anything out?"

After waiting for a while, Qi Changyu finally couldn't help but ask.

Now, everyone had a tea mug in front of them, containing only a little bit of boiled water, and nothing else.

Water resources are not scarce here, but the water extraction methods are not yet well-developed, so the methods used are rather crude, and the amount of water drawn is limited.

Yang Jun shook his head at him: "Trying to glean anything from the paper is wishful thinking. Director Qi, I wonder if we could go to the crime scene to take a look?"

"Of course, that dormitory is currently unoccupied, which makes it convenient for your investigation. Besides, we haven't touched anything inside."

"Yes, I did meet the two comrades who came from Jiangcheng last time, but nothing much has changed."

"Let's not delay, let's go take a look now."

"it is good."

Night had fallen, and the group headed towards the dormitory area with flashlights in hand.

The dormitory area is still a bit basic, but since it was the first building constructed and was built to permanent standards, the rooms are considered normal. Each room has two double beds, making it perfect for four people to share.

The room they entered was naturally empty; the dark door was tightly shut.

Under the pale moonlight, one could vaguely see inside the room through the window.

However, for Yang Jun, neither night nor day has much impact on his eyesight.

Yang Jun strode forward, then pushed open the door with both hands.

He looked at the empty room, but the scene of the crime flashed through his mind.

When someone stepped into the room to call the person inside out for dinner, they were met with a deathly pale face and a lifeless body.

Upon seeing the person involved in the incident, he was terrified and quickly reported it to his superiors.

Qi Changyu rushed over immediately, but still couldn't find anything; he wasn't a professional investigator.

"You at least examined the body, didn't you? What was the cause of death?"

Although there are no professional forensic doctors here, there are people in the military who are skilled in human anatomy, so examining the body is a certainty.

However, Qi Changyu shook his head: "This matter is also in the file, but we haven't been able to find any useful clues."

He clapped his hands vigorously, showing how guilty he felt.

At this moment, Sun handed the file in his hand to Yang Jun: "It's here with me, take a look."

Yang Jun took it and opened it. Sure enough, there was a fairly detailed anatomical description inside, and all the characteristics of the deceased were recorded in it.

"No wounds, no signs of poisoning, three corpses, identical symptoms, identical manner of death, truly bizarre."

Yang Jun slammed the document shut, his eyes filled with horror.

"Yang Jun, have you noticed anything strange?" Sun asked expectantly.

Yang Jun narrowed his eyes: "The biggest problem is that the three of them are fine."

"Director Qi, may I have the opportunity to exhume the body for an autopsy tomorrow?"

The body has already been buried. After all, the temperature difference between day and night here is extreme. If the body were left for a few more days, it would rot and stink.

"what?"

Qi Changyu looked at Yang Jun in surprise.

"Comrade Yang, this is the most professional dissection we can do," he wanted to remind him.

Yang Jun nodded: "I know, I'm not a professional forensic doctor either, but my eyes won't lie to me. I need to see the real body to know what the clues are."

He has a perception that allows him to see through everything about the dead, and he can see every inch of the corpse clearly, which is an ability that ordinary people do not have.

With three bodies, surely some traces would have been left behind.

Qi Changyu sighed, and seeing Yang Jun's resolute expression, he could only nod in the end: "Alright then, but it's best not to leave the corpse out of the coffin for too long, as that's not auspicious."

Yang Jun glanced at him in surprise, knowing that such words could not be used carelessly.

Qi Changyu realized this and quickly shut up.

"Let's call it a day. We've been traveling for several days and need a good rest so we can be ready to work tomorrow."

Yang Jun reminded him.

He's here to investigate a case, so it's very important that he's well-rested.

Qi Changyu patted his forehead, then realized and said, "Sorry, sorry, I've kept you from resting. Go and rest now, I'll show you to your dorm." (End of Chapter)
