Chapter 634 Hollywood Craze

Chapter 634 Hollywood Craze

"The joy of making a big bet with a small investment?"

As he watched Steven Spielberg leave, Aaron shook his head. This kind of thing often happened to Dawn.

It's no wonder DreamWorks is so happy with the success of "American Beauty"!
Aaron then ran into Joe Ross, the former president of Disney's film division, who had just left the company and seemed to have established a partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Joe Roth will establish an independent film company called Revolution Studios with funding from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"Oh, I heard that you seem to have put together a new film with Jerry Bruckheimer and Ridley Scott, a war movie based on the true events that happened in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, in 1993?"

Aaron looked at Joe Ross, Ridley Scott, who directed Gladiator for Universal last year, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who had previously worked with Disney.

It's perfectly normal for Joe Roth to bring the two together to help Sony Columbia develop new films.

Joe Roth chuckled. "Yes, after Saving Private Ryan, there's still a lot of expectation for war films."

"Disney is also preparing the war epic Pearl Harbor, directed by Michael Bay. Even Universal's Gladiator, which will be released this summer, can be considered a war film!"

That's right, the war epic produced by Sony Columbia, spearheaded by Joe Roth, is "Black Hawk Down," produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Ridley Scott.

Jerry Bruckheimer is indeed still developing the naval epic "Pearl Harbor" directed by Michael Bay for Disney.

Aaron shrugged. "Hollywood is indeed the best at capturing audience trends, and directors Ridley Scott and Michael Bay are both excellent!"

They have all worked with Dawn, especially director Michael Bay, who collaborated with Dawn on three consecutive action films that were a huge success and made him famous throughout Hollywood.

After the release of his last film, "Armageddon," in 1998, Michael Bay had not made a film for two years.

Aaron had always thought that Ridley Scott was interested in films about medieval warfare; directing "Black Hawk Down" was quite interesting!

On October 3, 1993, the U.S. received intelligence that Somali warlord Aidid was holding a meeting in a building in the Wagre district of Mogadishu. The U.S. military then deployed elite forces, six Black Hawk helicopters and eight Little Bird helicopters, in an attempt to seize Aidid in one fell swoop.

The U.S. military was besieged by Somali warlords in the city, resulting in 18 U.S. soldiers killed and 73 wounded, and a Black Hawk helicopter was shot down.

The screenplay for the film *Black Hawk Down* was adapted from the non-fiction book of the same name by Mark Bowton, a reporter for the *Philadelphia News* at the time.

Mark Bowton went to the front lines in Somalia to conduct interviews after the "October 3" battle. "Black Hawk Down: A Modern Warfare Story" combines the accounts and recollections of eyewitnesses and participants of the battle, bringing together perspectives and viewpoints from both sides to create the book.

This year, in addition to Universal's Gladiator, a World War II submarine movie, U-571, will also be released, distributed by Warner Bros.

"U-571" was a project that had been rejected by Aaron's Universal Pictures. Warner Bros. took over the project. Aaron has always disliked war films, and for such projects to pass, Aaron's personal approval was required!
After clinking glasses with Joe Roth, Aaron walked away. He had already guessed why Joe Roth chose to cooperate with Sony Pictures Entertainment after leaving Disney; it must be because of Amy Pascal, the new president of Columbia Pictures. Back when Joe Roth was president of 20th Century Fox, Amy Pascal was his assistant!

“Aaron,” Winona Reid appeared beside Aaron at some point.

"Oh, Winona, how's it going? Attending parties and cocktail parties every day, isn't it interesting?"

Aaron smiled and hugged the other person, joking with them.

Winona Ryder pursed her lips, looking utterly dejected. "I feel like I've been to more parties lately than I've ever been in all my previous years combined."

"The cast and crew of 'Shakespeare in Love' seem to have countless press conferences and briefings to attend. My smile is starting to look stiff now."

Aaron shrugged. "That's right, and it will be the same from now on. You'll have to continue during this period before the Oscar nominations are announced."

In "Shakespeare in Love," the main focus is on director Edward Zwick and lead actress Winona Ryder.
Dawn's hope is, of course, the Oscar for Best Picture; Edward Zwick certainly wants the Best Director award as well; and Winona Ryder's ultimate goal is Best Actress!
“Well, that’s the only way,” Winona Ryder had previously been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Little Women.

Her performance in "Shakespeare in Love" was also quite good, so getting a nomination shouldn't be a problem.

"However, after attending the Golden Globes, we'll also be attending the BAFTA Awards!"

Although the director and lead actress of "Shakespeare in Love" are American, most of the other main creators are British.

In some respects, Shakespeare in Love, like The English Patient, can be considered a British film.

“Alright, let’s go back to our room and rest,” Aaron said, leading Winona Reed into the elevator and to a suite upstairs at the Four Seasons Hotel.

"Well, the box office for 'Girl, Interrupted' seems rather mediocre, only $2800 million," Winona Ryder said, sitting in front of her vanity, removing her jewelry. Her sexy low-cut black evening gown accentuated her stunning beauty.

Fortunately, the cost of "Girl, Interrupted" was not very high, only $4000 million, and it is estimated that it will not recoup much at the overseas market.

“It doesn’t matter, it’s an art film anyway,” Aaron walked over, lowered his head and kissed the woman’s lips passionately, while caressing her breasts at the same time!

"Mmm," Winona Ryder responded passionately to the man's kiss, her dress slowly slipping off to reveal her sexy and alluring figure.

"Hurry and carry me to bed, darling," Winona Ryder said urgently, her arms wrapped around the man's neck after the kiss.

“Hmm,” Aaron quickly carried the petite Winona Reed to the bed, and with her help, he swiftly removed his clothes…
