Chapter 601 Smash!
Chapter 601 Smash!
It's a stereotype that people in the North like to crack open people's heads with flails, but Nora and Gwen really do.
The only difference is that Nora pays more attention to rituals, requiring her to chant sacred texts, light the incense burner, and force the doctrines into the minds of the heretics.
Gwen, on the other hand, took a simpler and more direct approach, believing that smashing someone's head was itself a form of doctrine.
Of course, those are things of the past. Now, the two of them are probably the only two or three active believers in the Silent Church, and neither of them has been formally employed by the church.
Nora was expelled, while Gwen never formally received baptism or joined the church.
Therefore, the two of them had no qualms about tapping the priests on the head a few times. Judging from Nora's slightly upturned lips, it was hard to say whether there was some personal grudge involved.
Richard was the most worried among those present. He hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward to stop them: "You guys...you're not planning to just smash it, are you?"
The Burial One is indeed a superhuman and possesses extremely high immortality, but he doesn't seem like he could withstand even a single blow from the shackles.
He's only in a coma right now. If he were to be chained down and his brains and livers were to be torn apart, wouldn't that make Castells a guilty man for intentional homicide?
If this isn't explained clearly, the Empire and Castells might just go to war.
Gwen and Nora exchanged a glance, both looking somewhat awkward.
"Of course not!"
"how come!"
Nora cleared her throat: "Ahem, I'm planning to have Gwen perform the Silent Sanctuary awakening ritual. The main ritual tool just happens to be a flail. Gwen, go and get a helmet."
"Yes, Lady Nora."
Gwen brought over a heavy metal helmet, and Nora looked at it with a hint of nostalgia and emotion in her eyes.
This is the helmet of the Icefield Heavy Armor, standard equipment for the priests of the Silent Sanctuary. Nora also once wore this armor in battle.
I used to think that the helmet's tilt angle design was flawed and could easily get stuck on my neck, but now I don't have that concern anymore.
After all, she doesn't have a neck to trap.
Gwen looked at Nora's nostalgic expression, scratched her head, and then had a look of sudden realization.
She stepped forward and snapped the helmet onto Nora's head.
Nora: "What are you doing?"
"Lady Nora, aren't you missing the feeling of wearing a helmet? Let me put it on you!"
As Gwen spoke, she reached out and patted the helmet. Nora must be in a lot of pain right now. The helmet is probably the only armor she can wear. She wondered if Castel had any technology that could help Nora stand up again and charge into battle with her.
“I didn’t,” Nora’s voice was muffled. “And you’re wearing it backwards.”
"What!?" Gwen hurriedly picked up Nora and looked at her, only to find that she was indeed wearing it backwards. Nora's smooth white hair was falling out from the helmet's visor.
"Yes, I'm sorry, Lady Nora!"
They quickly straightened Nora and put her aside, while Gwen brought over a helmet from the Icefield Heavy Armor.
The priests of these silent sanctuaries were brought in fully equipped; there's plenty of that stuff here.
Gwen fastened the helmet to the priest lying on the bed, picked up the flail and swung it around, then looked at Nora beside her: "Lady Nora, what exactly is the ritual?"
"Concentrate your power on the incense burner, and it will be lit. Yes, that's it."
A wisp of smoke slowly rose from the flail in Gwen's hand, and Gwen's eyes widened in surprise.
"That simple?" "Actually, it's not simple. It requires praying according to the rituals of the Silent Sanctuary and using special methods to activate supernatural powers. Forget about you."
Nora glanced at Gwen, who looked completely bewildered, and sighed.
Nora realized that these rituals were somewhat superfluous for Gwen, and she seemed to be able to skip some of the less important steps.
"Wow, this flail—I mean, the incense burner—is really something else!" Gwen's eyes widened as she stared in surprise at the wooden handle in her hand. "I think I can infuse my will into it!"
"Of course. Most of the priests in the Silent Church are not good with words. It's not an exaggeration to say that you can force the doctrine into their heads. Of course, you don't understand the doctrine of the Church now. You can force the idea of awakening them into your heads."
Gwen nodded excitedly, then suddenly remembered something and asked curiously, "This method of directly transmitting will seems to be unrestricted by language, so is that possible?"
Nora nodded, then almost got her hair caught in the falling visor: "That's right, we use this method to communicate with barbarians who don't speak our language, so this incense burner is actually a kind of translator. In the future, if you meet someone you can't communicate with, you can use the incense burner to reason with them."
"Understood, Lady Nora!"
Standing to the side, Richard glanced at the flails in Gwen's hands, then at Nora whose hair was stuck, and swallowed back the words that were already on the tip of his tongue.
The flail cannot be used to reason, but it can certainly be used to explain principles; in a way, Nora was not wrong.
"Alright, go ahead and smash it, remember that."
boom!
"Be gentle."
Nora looked at the dent in the helmet and her lips twitched.
That's a helmet from the Icefield Heavy Armor, capable of withstanding direct fire from a musket. Gwent dented it when she hit it with her flail.
Hope everyone is okay.
"Lady Nora, it's working!"
Gwen excitedly pointed to the priest lying on the bed. Although he was still asleep, his eyelids had begun to twitch slightly, as if he was desperately trying to open his eyes.
"I feel like a few more hits and I'll wake him up!"
Richard was about to lose his composure. He felt that what had been awakened was the priest's survival instinct, and if it didn't wake up soon, it might never wake up again.
"Is your method scientific?" he couldn't help but ask.
Is the scientific method useful?
"."
“Well, Mr. Richard, our method may not be scientific enough, but it should be physically sound; it’s a standard physical approach.”
It's strange, really, how come the Silent Sanctuary is so proficient in physical methods of awakening?
The rest of the process was quite boring. After Gwen discovered that this method of awakening was effective, she swung the flail in her hand so fast it created afterimages, smashing it while shouting loudly:
"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Get up!"
It must be said that it has a very strong presence.
The Silent Sanctuary is renowned for its solid craftsmanship and excellent quality in both weapons and armor, yet Gwen managed to smash even the heaviest Iceborne Heavy Armor helmet.
Richard's eye twitched, and he felt a shiver run down his spine with every swing of Gwen's sword; thankfully, she wasn't hitting him.
