Chapter 525 The Mortal's Recognition

Chapter 525 The Mortal's Recognition

"Huh?" Grisha was dumbfounded.

"Have you heard of Castells syndrome? Well, you probably haven't. The incidence of this disease is directly proportional to the stability of an individual's cognition—simply put, the more you've learned before, the more likely you are to develop it."

Grisha opened his eyes somewhat bewildered. He felt that the girl in front of him was telling him something, but the knowledge flowed smoothly from his mind without diminishing at all.

"what do you mean?"

“Children like you who don’t have any past misconceptions are the safest. You shouldn’t have to worry too much about Castells syndrome. In other words, you won’t be scared when you see those things on the island.”

Grisha nodded quickly. Although he didn't quite understand what the girl meant, he was a brave boy, and that much was certain.

Even when his feet were severed on the battlefield, he did not cry out in pain. Even Lady Gwen praised his courage. Grisha was not actually that confident, but he trusted Lady Gwen very much.

If Lord Gwen says he is brave, then he is brave. If anyone dares to question Lord Gwen, Grisha will rush up and punch him.

“You will be among the first to land on the island. To be honest, we have relatively little experience in this area. Those who have recently landed on Castel are mostly students who have completed advanced courses. Their incidence rate is actually quite high. They are often frightened, but as long as the principle is explained, they can recover quickly. Many of you have not received systematic education, so I can’t say what will happen.”

Hughes planned to send some of the wounded resistance fighters to the island.

Firstly, although Blood Harbor's infrastructure has improved considerably, it still lags far behind Castells, where medical conditions are much better.

Secondly, Richard and many of his researchers were highly skilled doctors. They could easily treat patients on the island during their spare time, but it was not feasible for them to go to Blood Harbor.

Many research sites can only be located in Castells; we can't just stop all the research.

Therefore, many people were destined to be relocated to Castells, and Castells syndrome would then become very troublesome.

Ordinary people are fine; even if their cognition collapses and they fall into temporary madness, they can recover after a few days in the hospital. But the people sent from the North are all wounded.

If they go mad, their already fragile minds will be further stimulated, and it's hard to say whether they can survive.

"Therefore, the lord is preparing to select some people to test this out first. Grisha, are you willing to participate? This may be somewhat dangerous."

"Will this experiment help everyone in the resistance?"

"can."

"Then I'll participate."

The girl smiled and stroked the boy's hair: "Okay, brave little guy, I'll register you. I'll be with you from now on. My name is Zoe."

Grisha was too embarrassed to call her by name, and simply nodded shyly.

Castells was very efficient; the day after the appointment was confirmed, Grisha boarded the ship bound for Castells.

Holding onto the railing of the ship's gunwale, Grisha looked excitedly at the sea outside.

This was the first time he had ever seen the ocean.

All of this filled him with wonder—the scent of the sea, the cool, pleasant sea breeze, the seagulls circling at the stern, and…
Grisha swallowed hard and cautiously looked down at the sea.

In the sea, sharks frequently leap out of the water, their streamlined bodies displaying a beautiful curve. And below the sharks, there is—

Banshees who throw sharks into the sea.

Grisha recognized the yellow-haired banshee; she was the first to charge into the battlefield that day, holding a bunch of pipes aimed at the enemy, who fell like stalks of wheat blown down by the wind. In the most desperate moment for the resistance, her appearance was like the light of dawn tearing through the darkness.

“That’s Nini. She’s a very powerful banshee. This group of people has returned from the North and is coming back to Castel with you.”

Zoe explained with a smile.

She asked, seemingly casually, "Grisha, what do you think of the Banshee?"

“The banshee.” Grisha hesitated, scratching his head.

“Some people are afraid of them, but many more are grateful to the banshees. The resistance is having a tough time in the North. We are driven away wherever we go, and there are some very bad lords who would love to kill us, but the banshees don’t.”

“They were willing to lend us a helping hand; no one had ever been willing to help us before.”

Most of the resistance fighters came from the White Crows, a place known for its traditions, and the Silent Church had always preached that nothing other than humans was trustworthy.

When the resistance fighters first encountered the Banshee, they should have been very resistant, and there might have been various misunderstandings, contradictions, and conflicts.

But the banshees' towering, giant-like bodies, their heavy armor as thick as doors, and the chilling Gatling guns and dragon breath cannons made the atmosphere of this first encounter extremely friendly.

Moreover, they came to help their allies, and the people of the North are known for repaying kindness.

When the wounded began to be treated, the resistance fighters were even more surprised to find that most of these harbinger witches were actually skilled in medicine.

Although their methods were somewhat rough, unlike the church priests who simply poured various types of holy water onto the wounds, they used knives and sutures to treat them. However, these resistance fighters were not pampered nobles.

They could discern good intentions and didn't need Gwen's restraints. The wounded obediently accepted these treatments that they couldn't understand, after all, they were the only treatments they could get.

The banshee was as tall as a tower. When she stood before the wounded with six hands holding knives and needles, most people were afraid and hesitant, and some bad rumors were quietly spreading. But as they quickly saved one person after another, everything changed.

Doctor, a highly skilled doctor, a highly skilled battlefield medic.

Each modifier added to the resistance fighters' trust and friendliness. These banshees were clearly extraordinary beings. Apart from Lady Nora, how many other extraordinary beings would be willing to save them, mere mortals?

Mortals are such beings; they are ignorant and weak, but this is not due to their inherent baseness, but rather to their lack of knowledge. Once they learn all this and understand who is truly helping them, these mortals will spare no effort in supporting them.

They also possess genuine kindness.

Gwen doesn't need to worry about those who spread rumors about the banshee; the healed patients will find them and teach them a lesson on their own.

Some people don't understand and are afraid of the female demon, but many more people will tell them how the female demon helped them.

The resistance fighters went from being hostile to spontaneously protecting the banshees.
