Chapter 198 Surrender

Chapter 198 Surrender
Within dimensional space.

Duncan, like a demon god, looked down upon the Annihilation Plane before him, which resembled a beautifully crafted figurine in his palm. As he lowered a finger, as if piercing a thin membrane, his finger barely managed to slip inside.

Within the annihilation plane.

That finger descended from the sky like a giant pillar supporting the heavens!

The friction between the fingertips and the air even ignited a flame.

Duncan's soul was unbelievably enormous compared to the annihilation plane; even a single finger that broke through the plane's barrier was enough to blot out the sky.

All demiplanes are surrounded by a plane barrier that envelops everything. After the plane barrier was broken, energy from the void was continuously poured into it, directly disrupting the original distribution of elemental energy. Fortunately, this place was originally a desolate annihilation ruin, otherwise, other living things would have died on a large scale.

If this happened in the physical world, the atmosphere would have been blown up.

"A god descending to earth?!"

The lich-Kangus was trembling slightly. It seemed to have recognized some kind of ability in Duncan's true form. The mere outward manifestation of this ability had already caused the powerful lich with the six-star silver-gray mark to completely lose the courage to resist.

The descent of a celestial being is a kind of extraordinary divine power belonging to a powerful deity. Its general effect is somewhat similar to the Eastern concept of "following the laws of heaven and earth," but there are still quite a few differences between the two.

Ordinary gods can hardly control the descent of gods to the mortal realm. Only powerful beings with moderate or higher divine power, or even the chief god of a pantheon, possess the power to perform the descent of gods to the mortal realm.

The lich Kangus is also very powerful. It is a six-star silver-gray marked unit. In most worlds, a five-star marked unit is already a legendary figure, while it is a high-level legendary being. In the world of Dungeons & Dragons, it is a millennium lich with a class level of 25 or higher.

Its existence is such that it has to hide everywhere after the Mechanicus suppressed reality and established a divine kingdom on earth. In other worlds, even a slightly weaker demigod would not be its match.

But the stronger this lich was, the more terrified he appeared when facing Duncan.

That was a trembling fear that came from the very soul!

If it weren't for its powerful spellcasting ability, which allows it to roam the spirit world, it wouldn't have been able to enter the Annihilation Plane at all, let alone see Duncan's true form.

Rumble!
A gigantic finger slammed into the ground, creating a deep, bottomless crater. The terrifying shockwave sent the lich-Kangus's projection flying. After entering the Annihilation Plane, its size was like a speck of dust compared to Duncan's true form. With a flick of the finger, the terrified lich carefully landed on it.

An endless, dark void.

The lich-Kangus had no idea where it was, whether it was in the deepest part of the spirit world or in some chaotic void. When it looked up, it could see the dark giant that seemed to be the size of a planet, and it felt like a tiny speck of dust being held in His fingertips.

This being is like a dark king in the void, looking down upon the endless chaotic universe.

"Submission? Or death?"

The voice of that enormous, chaotic evil god, which merged with the entire dark void, was like a thunderous roar; every word it uttered contained the power of a law or mantra.

The lich-Kangos would never admit a mistake, for only the Mantra of Law could shake its soul.

An existence like it would be a death monarch dominating a region in the West, or a demonic old monster who has cultivated for thousands of years in the East (referring to the one who wields the Banner of Ten Thousand Souls). The one that can shake its soul across different worlds and make the Life Box tremble slightly must be a god-level existence with powerful divine power.

Such beings often rule over a pantheon!
without hesitation.

The lich-Kangos immediately knelt down, humbly bowing his head in submission.

Within dimensional space.

Duncan withdrew his soul avatar. He had just tried to see if he could pull the target into the dimensional space, but it seemed impossible, because this lich was still a mortal after all, and had not ascended to a higher dimension. Moreover, even if he had ascended, he could only be in the lowest level of the dimensional space.

He slowly withdrew his palm, and with a thought, the Annihilation Plane in his palm was placed back at the bottom of the dimensional space.

If this thing is considered part of his figurine collection, it's probably the lowest tier, destined to gather dust at the bottom. Duncan hasn't seen anything that qualifies for a higher level of status.

Perhaps the kingdom of a true God could be placed on a higher level.

Projected page.

From God's perspective, the lich-Kangus, who had returned to reality, immediately knelt before his third human host, saying with extreme humility, "Your Majesty."

"If you need anything, please feel free to give instructions to your loyal servant, Kangus."

Now it dares not ask anything.

The lich no longer harbored any doubts. It even vaguely speculated that the arrival of such a powerful being in this world might have been lured here by the God of Machines.

Because it also knew that the God of Machines had fallen, and that both the human form and the divine power had shattered into many pieces.

The third human host's expression remained unchanged. Duncan refocused his attention on the projection screen and said calmly, "Get up."

"I have just arrived in this world."

"I still have many questions I want to ask you."

The lich Kangus rose in alarm and said respectfully, "Your loyal servant would never dare to conceal anything."

Duncan pondered for a moment, then looked down at the lich before him and asked, "Were you once human?"

Just now, on a dimensional level, he glimpsed the lich's soul and felt that it was somewhat human.

The lich Kangus bowed his head and said, "I was once a half-elf."

"A hybrid of human and dark elf."

“My father was one of the human heroes of the mythical age. Later, he went on an adventure into the underworld and was captured by my mother.”

"The dark elves love the bloodline of the strong, so I was born."

It was indeed a figure from the mythological era.

Normally, very few mortals can reach the level of a six-star mark. Five-star legendary is already the ceiling, and in World One, one has to die and become a heroic spirit to have a chance.

Half-elf?

The elves mentioned by the lich Kangus have many branches, but the most famous are the light elves and dark elves, which are closer to the Norse mythology system. In the mythological era, those born on the side away from the light are the dark elves, while the light elves are radiant and dazzling, and very beautiful. They are usually gentle, cheerful, and warm-hearted, and can communicate with trees, flowers, fish, and birds, so the gods regard them as their friends.

Dark elves, with their dark skin and silver-white hair, are often considered symbols of evil.

"Could other pantheons have also been here?"

Duncan looked slightly surprised. He looked down at the lich before him and slowly asked, "Where are the dwarven gods? Have they been severed from their faith in reality?"

He banished the gods.

Guwanu of the Celtic pantheon was stripped of his foundation in reality by Duncan and banished back to the Otherworld, the homeland of the Son of Danu.

The lich Kangus recalled, "Yes, Your Majesty."

"It was probably the second era, the end of the mythological age."

"Humanity rises, a new era arrives."

"The dwarves and elves gradually disappeared, and the human pantheon dominated the world. The surviving mythological races gradually left, and the faith in other gods slowly faded away."

Those pantheons that did not perish have basically been integrated into the human pantheon.

Duncan asked curiously, "Then why didn't you leave?"

The lich said with a bitter expression, "They are heading to the realm of the gods, not the material world."

"I am a faithless lich."

"Nowhere to go."

"It can only remain in the real world."

When it came to the faithless, it cautiously observed Duncan's expression, but Duncan's expression remained unchanged.

It's not a big deal if you don't like believing in gods.

Duncan didn't care about any of that.

After the Age of Mythology ended, the world entered the Mystic Age of the Third Age, roughly similar to the period from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, because mysticism was quite prevalent at that time.

Duncan roughly knew what happened next: with the advent of the First Industrial Revolution, the god of craftsmen became the first god of steam and machinery.

"So to say?"

"When the mythological era ended, did the human pantheon win?"

"But later they lost to the god of machines?"

By this time, Duncan had roughly figured out the historical context of this world. After understanding everything, he realized that the God of Machines was truly ruthless, as the real-world foundations of so many gods had been severed.

Duncan now has a clearer understanding of the real world.

The so-called reality is actually the material world. All material worlds are real realms, while the places outside of reality are the homes of those dimensional beings.

The divine kingdoms that mortals speak of are actually created out of thin air and do not belong to the material realm.

If we were to make an analogy, the divine realm is not much different from the warp.

Duncan stared at the lich before him and slowly said, "I'm going to take you away from here. Are you willing?"

Having finally subdued a powerful henchman, he naturally wanted to find a way to take him away.

Upon hearing Duncan's words, the lich before him even showed a hint of excitement, but it quickly hesitated and slowly said, "Your Majesty."

"I'm afraid I can't follow you."

"If I enter the human world, the cultists of the Mechanism Church will easily find me."

“Especially the angels of the Insight Sect.”

“They can sense supernatural beings. No matter what transformation spells I use, they will be detected by the Eye of Insight.”

Eye of insight?

It seems it didn't notice anything unusual about Duncan last time.

After a moment of contemplation, Duncan slowly said, "Do you know about the servo skull of the Cult of Mechanism?"

The lich Kangus has been asleep for too long.

It thought for a moment, then shook its head and said, "I don't know. Was it a strange object created in this era?"

Duncan began, “The Servo Skull is one of the tools of the Cult of Mechanism.”

"It is a device made from a human skull, a servant, a drone, a technological assistant."

"The skull was imbued with a mechanical soul."

"A large number of mechanical devices, as well as anti-gravity engines, or anti-gravity runes, were installed inside the skull."

"Only its outer shell is a human skull."

At this point, Duncan couldn't help but look at the other's smooth, pale skull. The Lich Congus's skull had a very good shape; it should be nice to hold and coil in one's hand.
