Chapter 832, Section 45: The Final Chapter - In the Dawn of Argus - Bonus Chapter to Conclude the Series! [55]

(Bonus chapter for the brothers who have been correcting the errors [5/5])
Spring goes and autumn comes, time flies.
Well, actually, there isn't that absurd situation where hundreds or thousands of years have passed in the blink of an eye. Today is the anniversary of the "first anniversary of the birth of the world of Argus," so Governor Old Hatton has been preparing for the "Midsummer Festival" that will begin today for the past two months.

That was the most important annual celebration for the Eredar during their "Second Common Era" more than 20,000 years ago, and it was as lively as the Lunar New Year for them.

Because of their past immortality, their race has a rather poor sense of time, so they don't have many festivals. Apart from the arcanists commemorating the birthday of the progenitor wizard Augure, the biggest entertainment event of the year is the Midsummer Festival.

In those "ancient times," each planetary governorate would hold various celebrations on this day, with the largest celebration taking place at the foot of the Macaret Mountains, on the high ground near the Academy of Arcane Arts.

The Eredar would set up tents and designate various entertainment areas here in advance, and then build a stone platform for the Jadni ceremony, where wrestling champions from various governorates would gather.

They would represent their respective hometowns, wrestling shirtless in the birthplace of the Eredar civilization to win glory for their families and friends.

The Krokun Grassland, located on the edge of civilization, is known for its fierce and unruly people, resulting in exceptionally strong Jadeni boxers.

General Jaid had won the Jadney Grand Prix seven times in a row when he was young, so in the eighth year, Velen and Kil'jaeden personally awarded Jaid the title of "Permanent Honorary Champion".

This way, we can ban this outrageous country bumpkin and prevent the annual Jadeny Grand Prix from losing its suspense.

This year's summer festival is the first since the rebirth of their homeland, and all the Eredar Star Clan, no matter how far apart they are, will send people to participate, making this year's festival and competition especially large in scale.

Furthermore, because Argus is currently in the Azeroth star system, the various races of Azeroth, who love to join in the fun, have also sent their best players to participate in order to maintain diplomatic relations with the Eredar, this "giant" in the star system.

Diakum once complained that the Jadni ritual was similar to the orcs' Mag'gora ritual, so the Mag'har orcs would not miss such a good opportunity to make a name for themselves in various parts of the starry sea.

The fact that the orcs sent people to participate meant that the shrewd and cunning Lord Margok had also sent ogres to join in the fun.

Old Hatton welcomed the guests and prepared a challenging match for them. To show respect for tradition, he asked his son Jaid, the "permanent honorary champion" of the Jadney Grand Prix, to play the "opening match".

Jaid was, of course, very willing.

He had been handling government affairs in the Starsea Territory of the Kroku Clan for the past year. Although he did not dislike the feeling of protecting the people, as a fierce shaman and warrior, Jaid would occasionally miss the days of going to the battlefield.

Although the current situation no longer allows him to go to the battlefield at will, it is not unreasonable for him to come here to reminisce about his long-gone youth.

The summer festival begins at dawn on the longest day of the year. Several hours before it starts, General Jaid, who is going to participate in the opening match, is chatting and joking with a group of old friends in a tent at the festival site.

Holding a glass of fruit-flavored beverage with a touch of alcohol, he complained to the several consuls beside him, who represented different clans at the Jadni ceremony:
"I heard that Dad originally planned to invite Dick over, but the archbishops vehemently rejected the idea because it was too outrageous. It's really going too far to ask a deity to preside over earthly matters, and Dad's mind is pretty muddled by now."

Although Dick had never cared about these things, he couldn't just rely on his seniority.

"That's not quite right. If the Lord of Dawn really comes to the celebration, even if it's just an avatar, it will be of great significance to the Eredar."

Another consul raised his glass and clinked it against Jaid's, saying:

"Moreover, the highest heavens were unusually calm throughout the year, even excessively so."

In my clan, there's a bunch of fools who, after being misled by someone, got a ship with phase teleportation from the Void Spirits and gathered over a hundred hotheads to form an expeditionary force called the 'Hand of Diakum'.

By the time I received the message and rushed to stop them, those guys had already slipped into the Twisting Nether and plunged headlong into the crusade against the demons.”

"hiss."

Jaid and several other officials around him wore expressions of utter dismay. He patted the unfortunate fellow on the shoulder, empathizing with his predicament, and said:

"You were reprimanded?"

"Oh, don't even mention it. The very next day, an angel came down from heaven and severely reprimanded me. It was an utterly undeserved disaster."

The unfortunate governor sighed and said:

"For the next three months, I was forced to participate in Bible debates. More than the loss of honor, discussing obscure theological concepts with those pastors was what really killed me. You wouldn't believe it, but during those three months I was even forced to learn to sing sonnets praising the Lord of Dawn in chanting tunes."

"Then you're really unlucky."

Another female governor joked:
"Hey, there's poetry on your competition robe, embroidered with gold thread. Did your wife make it?"

"Ugh."

The unfortunate governor sadly touched his robe and said:
"I'm still single, and I embroidered these poems myself."

That's right. For those three months, I was forbidden from using anything that I hadn't earned through my own labor, so I was forced to learn how to sew and mend clothes. To pass the time, I also learned how to embroider. Cough, cough, let's not talk about that.

In short, I've heard of quite a few things like this.

The High Heavens strictly forbid the formation of religious expeditions by ordinary people, but those fanatical young people don't care about such things.

"They failed?"

Jaid asked a question, and the governor shook his head and said:
"No, it's more troublesome than failure; they succeeded."

Those hotheads were lucky enough to stumble upon one of the Illidari's demon-hunting operations and, along with several Nightwarks, participated as supporters. They successfully destroyed a demon cult deep within the Twisting Nether that was attempting to awaken the God of Destruction prematurely by sacrificing demons to the Black Sun.

My fanatical nephew was even ordained a Holy Spirit because of this.

Legend has it that at the last moment, he pierced the head of that evil cult leader with my family heirloom sword, and just as that world was about to perish, an angel from the highest heaven rescued him.

“That’s a wonderful story. You have a saintly nephew. How great is that?”

Jaid said, puzzled:
Why are you still so gloomy?

"They're just saints, aren't they? Who among us isn't?"

The consul put down his wine glass and said seriously:

"Because of that unexpected experience, my nephew was unexpectedly stranded below the Long Stairway of Faith in the High Heaven for a few days after his soul left his body. Of course, he didn't have the ability to pass the trials of the Long Stairway of Faith, but after talking with the Holy Spirits who were seeking theological mysteries on the Long Stairway, he discovered a hidden message."

At this point, the consul looked around and lowered his voice somewhat uneasily, saying:
"According to those Holy Spirits, the Lord of Dawn has been missing for a year!"

To be precise, after He ascended to heaven in the light of dawn on the day our homeland was revived, no Holy Spirit ever saw Him again.

Honestly, this makes me a little uneasy.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this anxiety.

That's why I said that if Old Man Hatton could invite the incarnation of the Vigilant to the ceremony, it would definitely dispel a lot of unnecessary speculation.

As you all know, because of the loss of immortality, there are now some discordant voices within many Starsea clans.

"They're all a bunch of selfish bastards!"

An old garrison officer, bearing a scar on his chest, scoffed:

"Immortality is a gift from the Lord. Now the Lord of the Eredar is undergoing a great cycle of reincarnation. Instead of thinking about how to dedicate glory to the Lord, they actually slander him in private because of the matter of immortality."

"Hmph, if you ask me, the Inquisition should send judges to conduct a thorough investigation of all the Starsea Clans and find out all those who are talking nonsense."

"That's too much, Your Excellency."

Jaid shook his head and said:

"It's just a few complaints, there's no need to make such a big deal out of it. If the country and civilization that we've worked so hard to save can't even tolerate a few critical words after their rebirth, then it's us, the rulers, who should be reflecting on this."

However, I am quite curious, how did your nephew become so sure that what the Holy Spirit said was true?

Even the Holy Spirits, beneath the long steps of faith, do not see the Lord of Dawn every day.

"Because he has communicated with more than just the Holy Spirits."

The governor said somewhat awkwardly:
"My nephew has no talent for theology, nor does he study the principles diligently. He just likes to practice martial arts. He is also quite good at making friends. I don't know how he became friends with the legendary 'Master Huo of the Supreme Heavenly Gate'."

He heard this news from the mysterious Mr. Hogg.

Although Mr. Hogg is not a truly recognized Holy Spirit, he truly dwells daily beneath the steps of faith, and there is nothing in the highest heaven that he does not know.

“Hmm, I’ve heard of that strange fellow.” The female governor slapped her thigh and said with great interest:

"It is said to be a strange god who likes to appear in the form of a gnoll."

"Uh, it's a gnoll."

Jaid looked embarrassed for a moment, then explained:
"Hogg is one of the leaders of Azeroth. He has his own gnoll kingdom on the Dragon Isles. When Diakum was traveling in Azeroth, Hogg had some dealings with our saints and was therefore allowed to ascend the steps of faith."

As for that Supreme Heavenly Gate Room...
That's what it called itself.

However, since it was Hogg who said it, it does have some credibility.

As Diakum's brother, Jaid wasn't indifferent to him; it was precisely because he had great confidence in his brother's abilities that he didn't think about it in that way.

But now that his companions have brought it up, Jaid himself is starting to worry.

They chatted for a few more minutes, and then Jaid went out of the tent to find a place to relieve himself.

Slightly tipsy, the powerful Grand Consul waved for his guards to stay. He hadn't been back to Macare for a long time and was about to climb the rocks to sober up, following his memories of the past. But as soon as he rushed up and loosened his belt, he heard people chatting on the ridge not far away.

Argus's elemental power after its rebirth was not sealed by another progenitor wizard, Augure, so the elemental way in this world can be described as prosperous. The elemental winds here are quite mischievous, always carrying whispers to the shamans' ears hidden in the wind.

As it happens, Jaid was a powerful war shaman.

Although he may not have the talent to go any further, years of war and the blessings of the elements have made him a demigod leader who protects his people.

Even so, he couldn't hear the sounds in the wind clearly. He could only tell that there were several women's voices, which sounded very similar to Nellie and the twins' voices, but there were also men's voices.

They chatted and laughed together.

Slightly tipsy, Jaid suddenly realized a terrifying possibility!

His sisters-in-law cheated on their brother!

The Grand Consul snorted, no longer holding back. He picked up a stone and strode up the ridge, eager to see which guy had the audacity to try and undermine the Lord of Dawn on the land of Argus.

Then, when he stormed out in a rage, he unexpectedly saw a bewildered Diakum holding Nelly and the twins, whispering to each other under the starry sky before dawn.

The four of them were presentable enough, but the three ladies' attire was somewhat lacking in "formality."

They did a pretty good job.

A picnic basket was laid out on the edge of the cliff with a rather beautiful view, with a picnic umbrella next to it and several jugs of good wine brought from Azeroth.

Judging from their appearance, all four of them must have drunk quite a bit.

"You! You ...

Jaid, holding the stone in his hand, was at a loss for words.

He came to catch his lover cheating, but unexpectedly encountered the Lord of Dawn who had "skipped work" to meet his lover. Well, this could easily be a story in its own right in mythology.

Why are you holding onto the stone?

Diakum wiped the kiss marks from his face and said in a feignedly angry and fierce tone:
"You scared me! Are you planning to use that 'Godslayer Sword' you're disguised as a stone on me? Let me tell you, I've learned a lot of new tricks from a bunch of unreliable bastards. A mere Godslayer Sword is useless against me."

"I am not you!"

Jaid's mind was a bit muddled. He slapped himself to clear his head, then dropped the stone and asked:

"Weren't you missing for a year?"

"Yes."

Lying in Diakum's arms, Archbishop Nelly, looking utterly affectionate, rolled her eyes and said with a hint of disdain:
"The Lord of Dawn has been hiding in our office for a year. Whenever we ask him, he says he's on 'vacation,' but in reality, he's just dumping all the work on his subordinates. He's like a lazy bum who lives off us."

That's not entirely accurate.

Saloras brushed her long hair aside and corrected her:
"He was away for a week. At dawn that day, there was suddenly someone in my sister's and my bed. We were almost scared to death. When we saw it was him, he came back covered in injuries, as if he had encountered a 'battle of gods'."

He said he needed to recover from his injury, but he just kept staying put.

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder."

Aurecis also said with disdain:

“It was fine at first, but it didn’t work out over time. After handling so much official business in the courtroom every day, I still had to take care of him when I got home. It was really hard to be happy.”

"Hey, you three, that's enough!"

Diakum, barely able to contain himself, snapped:
"You're the ones who say I've let you down. I have such high moral standards that I even convinced myself to take a long vacation to be with you, and yet I received such terrible feedback?"

And tomorrow, at Old Man Hatton's request, I'll be attending the ceremony and then 'ascending to heaven,' and we'll only meet again in dreams."

"Oh, so it really was Dad who called you back."

Jaid laughed heartily.

He knew that the twins and Nelly's complaints were just jokes. If they really hated their brothers, they wouldn't be wishing they could be attached to them when they were about to part ways.

The Grand Consul was not one to spoil the fun. He suddenly remembered that he still had water to drink, so he chuckled and, with a satisfied and finally at ease demeanor, swayed as he descended the mountain.

The Lord of Dawn has never left.

He has never disappeared; He has always been observing the lives of ordinary people on earth.

Wow, what a responsible deity!

After Jaid left, Dick and the other three remained seated, embracing each other in the starlight and moonlight as the night drew to a close, enjoying the silent peace and companionship of their souls.

As dawn approached and the east began to lighten, Aurecia suddenly looked up and said:
"No matter how we asked you over the past year, you refused to say where you went, but the terrible injuries you had when you came back were undeniable."

"To be able to beat a god like that, you must have been in a very dangerous place."

"And ever since then, you've always been saying 'those unreliable bastards'."

Nelly also asked curiously:
"So, during those seven days, you did indeed meet a group of strange people. You see, you're about to return to heaven to become a deity, so in these final moments, won't you answer our questions?"

"Uh."

Diakum sighed.

Say:
"It's a complicated matter, after all, just explaining my relationship with them would take a long time. But how should I put it?"

He lowered his head and kissed Saloras on the forehead, whose eyes were filled with expectation, and said:
"Alright, if you really want to know, then let's finish this story before dawn."

"But dawn is coming soon, is there enough time?"

"Well, when the Lord of Dawn needs some time, the first ray of sunlight will always be very perceptive and quietly wait below the horizon, while the gentle night will also reserve its last generosity, allowing me to share this story with my loved ones."

In general
They were a group of gods who intended to create a new universe, and I was one of them.

The author's closing remarks will be posted at the end of the month, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the book will be officially completed a few days before the end of next month.

I have so much to say, so I'll put it all in the author's closing remarks.

Anyway, thanks for reading this far, brothers. Love you all.
