Light's Dawn of Azeroth
Chapter 762, Section 40: The End of the War of Destruction - All Glory Returns to Azeroth
Chapter 762, Section 40: The End of the War of Destruction - All Glory Returns to Azeroth
The life tides and "mass resurrection" that Eonar applies to all beings in Azeroth are a "mechanism".
Just like the final stage where the player character faces Argus the Destroyer in the ruins of the Pantheon, after being crushed and killed by the power of the universe, they need to go through the process of "running back to their corpse" to reach the World Tree before they can be given a new life.
The World Tree "Eluashi," which sprang from the Un'Goro Crater at Eonar's call, serves as such a "resurrection point."
It's a supreme mechanism that feels both familiar and poignant.
For Azeroth at this point, the implementation of this mechanism was absolutely perfect.
Because the veil of life and death collapsed and the Kyrians were conscripted to participate in this war in the present world, today's "soul guiding" work has been temporarily suspended. Those who were killed have become wandering ghosts, mostly lingering in the tributary of Gorgia: Soul Gathering that leads to the Shadowlands and extends into Azeroth.
Without Grylls' guidance, they could only walk to the world of the dead.
Aside from the unfortunate souls resurrected as undead by the necromancers of Maldraxxus, the sheer number of dead due to the intense world war has created a staggering "queue" phenomenon on this tributary of the River Styx.
Emperor Lothar's resurrection is just the beginning.
After him, one after another, warriors who refused to die traveled to the World Tree Eluashi and were given a new life. They would awaken in their own remains and regain the chance to continue fighting.
But for most undead, when the tide of life rises, they don't really understand what it means for them.
Until some unexpected person appeared on a tributary of Gorgia's Song of Souls.
"go back!"
Odin, with one arm and draped in a tattered cloak, stood like a cold and majestic statue at the entrance connecting Gorgia, the River of Souls, to the Maw, wielding a massive halberd made from the remains of the Maw.
He blocked the souls drawn to the Maw by death, and roared:
"Azeroth still needs you to keep your word! Go back! Set out towards the World Tree, receive the blessing of the Titans, and rejoin the battle! The war is not over yet."
Amid Odin's obstruction and roar, the lost and bewildered souls were awakened. Upon learning that they could be resurrected by touching the World Tree, the warriors immediately turned and rushed to their battlefield.
Spirits can fly regardless of any obstacles, and the River Styx, Gorgia, is also full of wonders.
Its tributaries extend into the world and can theoretically reach any corner of the world, since it is a place for the dead to walk and does not need to abide by the spatial rules of the present world.
But for the unfortunate souls who die for the first time, reaching the World Tree in the right direction amidst the tides of the River Styx is indeed a skill in itself.
They need guidance from navigators.
"Hela, stop dawdling! The Titan Soul is watching us, our master has returned."
The one-armed Odin called out.
A moment later, Hela, flapping her jet-black wings and having shed her "Death God form" and returned to her Valkyrie form, flew out of the Styx tide with a gloomy face.
She didn't give Odin a friendly look, even though the father and daughter had talked out their most painful struggles after experiencing the torment of death and mutual redemption. But that didn't mean Hela had to serve Odin as before.
She scolded:
"This is the last time! I will then return to the Shadowlands, where the Lord of War and the Queen of Winter have given me new responsibilities. And what are you still doing here?"
Your master has returned; shouldn't you go and serve her?
You are alive.
"Don't linger so repulsingly in the territory of the dead."
"If you wish, you can also return to the Titans' command with me."
Odin, unperturbed by Hela's hostile attitude, extended an invitation:
“That is the mission we were given when we were created. We are meant to serve the gods of the Pantheon and enjoy their glory. You still have a choice, my daughter. Even the Eternals should give the Titans some respect. You can return to the glory of the Pantheon.”
"No, that is your master."
Hela waved her hand dismissively, sending the Shadow Valkyries, who still obeyed her, flying out of the Maw and guiding the bewildered souls before her to the World Tree in Un'Goro Crater.
She said very firmly:
"After all that happened, I was no longer one of you! Death may be indifferent, but it treats every soul fairly. For me, who has suffered countless hardships, death is my final destination."
Get out of here, Odin.
Never go near that River Styx again, or you won't be so lucky to escape death next time.
Odin nodded regretfully.
He leaped out of the River Styx, carrying the menacing Death Spear, but the next instant, Hela threw out a massive metallic eye filled with the Maw's style, its entwined chains landing squarely on Odin's one-armed arm.
The War King turned around in surprise, but Hela was no longer visible hidden in the white mist of the Styx River; he could only hear the other's cold voice:
“Those are the ‘eyes’ that were tricked out of you by Muezara. Now they’re back to their rightful owner. Death owes you nothing, and neither do I. Go back to your Titan glory.”
Don't stay in Azeroth, you're no longer welcome in this world!
If you stay here, you'll die sooner or later.
Odin silently waved his hand, hanging the eye that had been tricked by the forces of death around his neck like a pendant. Then, stepping on the edge of the River Styx, he leaped down, transforming into a golden war meteor that crashed into the still fiercely fighting Silithus desert.
The moment he landed on the battlefield, he heard a piercing and chilling laugh, as if the villain had finally achieved some terrifying ambition. Odin turned around in surprise and saw that on the raging waves, the fallen Titan Gorgoneth was being pressed into the seabed by Lord Argus, who was constantly piercing and slashing him with his blinding lightning blade.
Beyond the two giants, the stone-scaled dragon Ilyudicon was pulling a black "sword" with its claws like a tug-of-war. The other end of that thing was connected to the heart of the fallen titan Gogonas, like a hideous "snake" that had seeped into the fallen titan's body in a parasitic and corrosive manner.
Every tug of Ilyudicon's flapping wings caused Gogonus to roar in agony, his massive body convulsing as if he were terminally ill.
Having already learned how to fight, how could Lord Argus let such a good opportunity pass by?
He pressed down on Gorgoneth, and the ferocious lightning blade was knocked away by the struggling fallen titan. Argus then grabbed the Shield of Aggramar and brutally used the heavy shield to frantically strike Gorgoneth's head.
Each heavy blow shatters the boulder, but Gorgoneth's powerful strikes, summoning the power of the sea and sky, are met by the Thunder-devouring dragon Lysages, which soars through the air.
This fallen being was already on the verge of death. Facing the increasingly skilled Lord Argus, He had no chance of turning the tide.
For Argus, who had become a "Star Soul Warrior," his victory over Norgannon in Draenor was not exactly a fair one, since Norgannon had already been weakened to the extreme by Diakum before he fought Argus. This time, the battle against Gorgonath in Azeroth was Argus's first real battle.
While Ilyudikorn's use of the Black Corruption Sword to pull and weaken the Titans did serve to restrain and weaken them, the entire battle was fought by Lord Argus himself.
He personally defeated the powerful enemies in this sea of stars, just like his children who never gave up, and personally won supreme honor for himself.
"Let me forgive your sins! Let me set you free!"
The bruised and battered Lord Argus roared, surrounded by the power of the world, as He raised the lightning-wrapped Shield of Aggramar high and, amidst the wailing of Gorgonath, smashed the weapon into the shattered skull of the fallen Titan.
This final, brutal blow shattered Gogones's head.
Accompanied by Ilyudicon's maniacal laughter, which was anything but benevolent, the Titan's body, which had been penetrated by the Black Corrosion Sword, shattered at that moment as it was being pulled by its sharp blade. The black "serpent" flew out from the collapsing Titan's body, circling a "heart," and was then swallowed whole by Ilyudicon.
This scene was truly terrifying.
It's as if the Black Erosion Sword, powerful enough to corrode Titans, has been sheathed, and Ilydikon is its living sheath.
This stone-scaled dragon is absolutely insane!
No sane being would feed such a wretched-looking thing with its own body; it was undoubtedly a creation of the void, perhaps a gift from a void god. But Lord Argus didn't care.
He rose, carrying the lightning-streaked shield of Aggramar, and grabbed his lightning blade from the seabed. He shouted to the two dragon avatars surrounding him, then strode forward into the battlefield of Silithus.
The demons are still attacking relentlessly.
They fought to the death under Sargeras's orders, but the destructive power that such a desperate fight could unleash had its limits; not every great demon was a cheat code.
When Argus stood before the Temple of Azeroth, weapon in hand, it was clear that the demons would never be able to breach the heart of Azeroth today.
"Lord Argus has returned! Saviors, retreat to the temple immediately!"
Aegwynn's voice echoed in the ears of every savior, and the leader of the saviors called out:
"The Star Soul Temple is no longer in danger of falling. It's time to return to the battlefield of our respective kingdoms! The resurrection cast by Lady Aionall will bring some of the dead back to the world. The horn of counterattack has been sounded."
Mother World has issued her decree!
Drive these damned demons out of our world! For Azeroth!
"For Azeroth!"
The saviors responded loudly to the call.
They flowed back to the World Temple from all corners of the battlefield, and from there they traveled through portals to their respective kingdoms.
In fact, there is no need for saviors to lead the way. Around the world, with the surge of life tides, those who are still alive and those who have just been resurrected have participated in this great counterattack that has already begun.
Even Hogg.
When Hogger proudly carried his battle axe back to Fernskin Valley in the Azure Forest, he was delighted to see his gnoll army working with the walruses to drive away the demons that had landed.
There were also nearby blue dragons flying around in the sky to provide support.
Hogger could clearly see a starship of the Holy Light Legion descending from the clouds as it swept across the battlefield, dropping triangular holy symbols onto the ground. This was the most famous tactic of the Lightforged. Amidst the flashing golden holy light, one powerful Lightforged force after another charged into the battlefield.
Even further away, the Holy Light Arbiters struck from the planet's orbit, their golden light falling like swords of punishment from beyond the stars, incinerating demons wherever it touched.
Strong reinforcements have arrived!
This magnificent scene, a symbol of victory, prompted Hogger to let out a long, wolf-like whistle.
When a black wolf leaps from the shadows and carries it to the battlefield, even gnolls, roadside monsters, become part of the "saviors" of today.
Hogger had every reason to be proud and smug.
It knew it had become a legend!
Yes, when future generations talk about this great war that is worthy of being recorded in the annals of StarCraft, there will always be an inconspicuous corner reserved for Hogg.
Even with all their firepower, the Twisting Nether couldn't destroy Azeroth today; they have no more chances!
The Supreme Star Soul will eventually step into eternity.
As a son of the world, Hogger will also share this eternal immortality with the glorious Mother World.
Well, all glory belongs to Mother Earth.
------
Eonar's Titan Soul entered the planet Azeroth along with the support of the Holy Light Fleet.
As a supreme soul who had lost her Titan body and had been hiding in the sea of stars for many years, Ionar was extremely weak at this time. The blessing she had cast on the world war made her desperately need a place to rest.
El'shear, the World Tree that grows from the foot of the Un'Goro Crater, is the best place to settle down, but before resting, Eonar needs to complete one last thing.
She strode toward the shores of Silithus, knelt beside Gogonus's broken body, and tenderly caressed the remains of her former companion. With a sorrowful gesture, she desperately called upon the power of life and arcane magic to create a storm that swirled around Gogonus's remains, forming a mysterious rune.
She will take Gorgonus's Titan Soul back from Sargeras!
When the Fallen Titan's body shattered, His immortal soul departed and is now returning to the heart of Argus, a place Eonar will not allow to happen.
But He was too weak.
His power alone could not call Gogonas back from the temptation of fel energy. Just as Eonar was gritting his teeth and persevering like in a tug-of-war, another Titan soul also fell into Azeroth.
Norgannon the Dream Weaver!
This guy was even weaker than Ionar, because he had been trapped by the World Tree of Draenor and had a portion of the universe's energy extracted as "interest".
"I'm here to help you!"
The Dreamweaver spoke, then channeled his last bit of cosmic energy into Ionar's spell, causing Gogonus's soul to be awakened by the allure of the evil energy.
“Pull Him back!”
Ionar shouted:
"Don't let Him be captured by Sargeras again. If He falls again, He will truly become one with Sargeras, merging into fel energy!"
Norgannon remained silent, but simply reached out and grasped the knot forged by life and arcane power, pulling his brother toward Azeroth.
But the two of them were simply unable to accomplish this. On the other side of this "tug-of-war," the alarmed fallen Titan Aggramar had also taken action, intending to drag Gogonas back into the fel energy.
"Step aside!"
The roar of Lord Argus echoed behind the Titan Soul.
He strode over, grabbed the knot with both hands, and with His great power, a stalemate was formed.
"Help us!"
Aiona turned back and called out to the Star Soul Temple, requesting the assistance of the Supreme Star Soul.
Azeroth truly didn't want to help them; she was filled with disgust for the Titans who had imprisoned her and tried to mold her. But the ExoSoul Supreme couldn't stand by and watch Gogonas fall into fel energy once again.
That guy, like himself, was also a star soul born in the sea of stars before entering the Pantheon.
Therefore, a moment later, a deep blue primordial power surged from the earth's core, wrapping around the two Titan souls and granting them temporary power.
Norgannon immediately cast a spell, and Eonar also exerted his power. Under the firm pull of the Lord of Argus, Gougonas was gradually dragged back to the territory of Azeroth.
As the latter fell into the star and was caught by Ionar, Lord Argus looked up and, through the dissipating cosmic rainbow, saw Aggramar standing on the plains of Antorus.
The other person's burning eyes were also fixed on Him.
"You're next!"
Lord Argus roared:
"Judgment is imminent! Just wait, Aggramar, in the next war I will personally punish you!"
