Chapter 625, Section 86: The King and the General - Working for yourself is so cool!
Leaving aside Drake's surprise and shock when he suddenly saw his father arrive with a "tattered fleet" he had somehow acquired to help him, even though he was in dire straits and had to raise the blood flag to fight to the death, let's focus on the pirate duke, Fariwell.
The Kul Tiran navy, which had been confident of victory, immediately became restless when they saw the iconic "Sea Kings" appear, and were focused on annihilating the Imperial fleet.
Sailors are human, and captains are human. The reason they came here to fight the Imperial fleet is because the Imperial army has indeed invaded their country.
They call this protecting their homeland and defending their country!
Moreover, because of the existence of lucid dreams and their influence on thinking, these pure soldiers were filled with disgust for the Stomka Empire. In addition, the implanted, outrageous memories told them that Prince Drake was a true traitor to the Empire, which is why the sailors were so eager to sink this troublesome fleet.
But now, King Daelin appeared on the naval battlefield with his flagship, which was known to everyone in Kul Tiras and even the entire South Sea.
Although the ship looked quite strange, with odd eyes perched on the mast, its hull covered in dark gray horn, and even its ropes made of thin, coiled tentacles, making it look like a living sea monster, when Dalene's battle flag was raised, some veterans loyal to the general and attracted by Dalene's charisma immediately broke free from the damned mental interference.
The main reason is that N'Zoth is dead.
The lingering mental effects had become extremely weak. In the heat of war, there was certainly no time for the sailors to correct their thoughts. However, the appearance of Dalene and that strange, dilapidated fleet forcibly ended the war. In addition, the sudden burst of sunlight shining on the sea dispelled the heat and light, making those with strong wills immediately realize that something was wrong.
The sunlight streaming down is ridiculous; it clearly carries some kind of damned mystical power. This must be the unseen hand of some vigilant being exerting its influence again.
As it fell upon the smoke-filled battlefield, the Faceless Ones and K'sir, disguised as Tide Sages and Sailors, screamed as all illusions were removed. The light and heat caused white smoke to burst from their bodies as if they were on fire, and their void-shaped flesh and blood suffered as if they had come into contact with sulfuric acid.
Now, any Kul Tiran commander who wasn't blind knew they had fallen into a trap.
They do indeed worship the tides, because the power of the tides can ensure their safe voyages. But worshipping the tides doesn't mean they can accept these octopus-faced monsters lurking around them.
Not to mention the sailors, even some pirates were startled when they woke up to find that the people next to them had turned into void creatures.
Pirates may have been corrupt, but they were still human beings.
Who the hell would willingly become a monster unless forced into it?
Thus, to Drake's astonishment, the enemy, which had already seized advantageous artillery positions and was preparing to wipe out his fleet in one fell swoop, found itself in disarray.
Bathed in the cleansing sunlight, the sailors, now fully conscious, drew their swords and muskets and launched a surprise attack on the screaming void monsters.
Chaos reigned on the deck, and some of the more astute commanders immediately raised white flags and steered their ships toward the edge of the battlefield.
This action immediately created a loophole in the encirclement that Fariwell had painstakingly created, allowing the excited Drake and his equally excited commanders to decisively break out of the encirclement.
Meanwhile, Admiral Dalene burst into wild laughter. Her Sea King had been severely damaged in the previous battle to rescue another of her children, and the ship was now sailing at an angle.
If this weren't a mysterious warship, it probably would have capsized long ago.
There was also a terrifying rift beneath the ship, and the dark power within the cabin manifested tentacles that continuously scooped out water and sealed the hull.
But overall, there shouldn't be any major problems!
Amidst the roar of Admiral Dalyn wielding her trident, the monstrous Sea King ruthlessly rammed through the pirate ships blocking its path.
That ignorant fellow actually tried to fire a shot at the monster ship from the deck cannons, but as soon as he aimed, a black lightning bolt struck down from the sky, hitting the pirate captain and turning him to ashes on the spot.
The strange ocean currents swirled the overconfident pirate ship around and around, before smashing it to pieces amidst the phantom tentacles striking from behind the Sea King.
King Daelin, who was at the helm, withdrew his finger expressionlessly, with residual sparks of electricity still visible on his Stormcaller crown.
Although Admiral Daelin had already "taken" the Sea King, the ship was a gift from N'Zoth, who had specially "promoted" him. Since he shared the same identity as Admiral Daelin, he could naturally operate the warship as well.
There are only four people on this boat right now.
King Daelin was the pilot, Admiral Daelin was the combat captain, the little witch Jaina was the spellcaster, and Tanred was the artillery captain. The family of four managed to pilot this monster ship that required hundreds of people to form a combat force, and their combat power seemed quite impressive.
The "toy fleet" that N'Zoth left to Tanrid also charged forward in pursuit of the Sea King.
They are all lower-ranking void creatures, much like "ghost ships," but they all belong to the fleet of Ny'alotha City and are naturally subject to the command and control of the King of Ny'alotha.
The only regret is that, because the exchange between dream and reality has ended, the king clearly feels that he is being "pulled" back to his own territory, and he cannot stay in this material world that does not belong to him for long.
"Hurry up!"
The king said this.
The void warships following behind the Sea King immediately accelerated, like unmanned "suicide ships".
They cleared a path for the accelerating void flagship on the sea surface by sacrificing themselves. The ship's cannons, which were wrapped in void power, fired haphazardly, with no aim whatsoever, since there were no gunners operating them.
But the visual effect of so many dilapidated void ships crashing into each other was very exaggerated. Their posture was just like a group of reckless berserkers charging into the enemy ranks, clearing a path for their king to advance in a leisurely manner.
This scene was also noticed by Drake, who was breaking out of the encirclement.
Having developed his own set of experiential logic during the long war, Drake made a decision immediately when he realized that his father's target was the pirate Duke's flagship "Devil Shark" located in the middle of the enemy lines.
"Turn the ship around!"
He hacked a Naga that had crawled out of the sea and killed it on the deck, roaring at the first mate who was at the helm:
"Support the Kul Tiras flagship, and we'll also advance towards the Devil Shark! Have the other warships take up gun positions and provide fire support."
"Captain, we're running out of shells."
The first mate shouted:
"If we just rush in like this, we'll probably end up having to fight a boarding action."
"Firepower?"
Drake grinned, his bloodshot eyes filled with determination, and pointed to the still accelerating Sea King, saying:
"With that big ship in front of us, what need do we have for firepower? Let them board us! If we don't take down Farivel here today, how can we wash away the shame of Kul Tiras being breached by pirates?"
That man's body will be hung on the docks of Boralus until it dries out!
As Drake's flagship began its "charge" towards the Devil Shark, screams erupted from the ship, which was turning around under the protection of several warships at the edge of the battlefield.
Lord Ashvane, the regent of Kul Tiras, and his fat wife looked terrified as they hid in the captain's cabin, gazing out at the sea through the porthole.
The victory they had just achieved filled the two men with great joy. Although they were destined never to return to Kul Tiras and continue their life of luxury, the Ashvane family had already made enough money during this period. Their wealth had been transferred all over the world, and all they needed to do was accept the transformation of their appearance with Void magic so that they could continue to live a life of extravagance and wealth.
However, the situation in the naval battle took a sharp turn for the worse after that madwoman, Dalene, emerged from "hell" with her monster ship.
Despite the presence of formidable Void Warriors aboard the Devil Shark and the exceptional naval commander Farrell's own fleet being in disarray, coupled with the enemy's surprise attack on the ship, Lord Ashvane felt extremely insecure.
"What are we waiting for? Run!"
The lord, clutching a sword utterly useless for self-defense, kicked open the captain's cabin door and rushed to Duke Farrell, who was standing at the helm. He shouted:
"What are you still hoping for? We've already lost, our army has been defeated! That damned sunlight is targeting us, and Dalyn and his monster ship are coming for you and me. Two Dalyns are going to strangle us!"
Run!
"Shut up."
The pirate duke didn't even glance at the greedy regent. He stared intently at the Sea King charging towards them. The enhanced vision granted by the void allowed him to clearly see Admiral Daelin leaning on her trident at the bow, and King Daelin at the helm.
These two actually collaborated?
It's unimaginable.
"Ha, I told you long ago that N'Zoth could not possibly conquer a soul like Daelin with his ridiculous tricks. It's a pity that even the Old Gods have their own pathetic arrogance."
The pirate duke curled his lip, turned around and grabbed Lord Ashvane, who was still babbling on, lifting the fat man into the air with one hand. Amidst the man's suffocating screams, he shoved a "bug" shimmering with void energy into his mouth.
He loosened his grip, letting Lord Ashvane slam onto the deck. The latter frantically tried to vomit the disgusting worm, but it had already crawled down his esophagus and started to bite.
"What! What did you feed me?"
The regent is going crazy.
He said, his face ashen:
Not everyone is as willing to become a monster as you are!
"Really? I saw you were having a great time cooperating with the monster before, enjoying power second only to the ancient god under his protection."
Farrell waved his hand, signaling the Void Warriors on his warship to prepare for battle.
As the Sea King roared toward him, he stretched his neck, drew his serrated sword, and said to Lord Ashvane, whose flesh was beginning to mutate:
"You should have known this day would come when you made the deal with the Abyss, you greedy bastard. I was forced to become a monster, but you, you were already a monster before you ate the worms."
Don't be afraid.
I'm just helping you show your true self.
Having said that, the pirate duke ignored Ashvane's screams and cries, turned around, and looked at the Sea King, which was charging towards his warship under cannon fire.
His gaze met that of Admiral Dai Lin on the bow of the opposing ship. The two veterans, who had fought side by side for many years, rose and leaped up almost simultaneously, engaging in a fierce battle a second before the two ships collided.
The pirate duke had no intention of running away.
In fact, compared to his previous nonchalant attitude when commanding the fleet to besiege Drake, he now seemed to be eagerly anticipating this battle, as warlike and excited as a lion awakening.
------
About thirty minutes later, the raid on the Devil Shark finally ended.
When Derek, covered in gunpowder, stepped onto the deck of the ship, which was littered with the wreckage of the void, he saw his king father kneeling beside a hideous monster that had been strangled by lightning, removing the seal of "Regent of the Kingdom" from its tentacles.
Behind the helm at an even higher vantage point, his father, an admiral, leaned on his trident, coughing up blood as he used a musket to blast and ignite the head of Duke Farrell, who had been transformed into a void monster.
His younger sister was summoning a blizzard to freeze the surrounding sea, preventing the ships and the void creatures and pirates on board from escaping, while his younger brother remained on the deck of the Sea King, wielding his command sword and constantly ordering the void warship's cannons to fire, sending all these filthy ships into the sea.
Of course, due to the subtle connection between the Sea King and Lucid Dream, all the ships it sinks will be sent to the Blackwaters of Ny'alotha as a "broken fleet," along with the Void Fiends, to become delicious nourishment for the newly established Zerg swarms.
Drake sighed, tossed aside his dulled sword, and stepped forward, looking hesitantly at his two fathers who were almost identical except for their clothing and demeanor.
He found himself in the same awkward situation as his younger sister and brother.
Who should we call first?
But the two Dalynes seemed quite unfazed. The general wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, laughed heartily, and stepped forward to put his arm around the king's shoulder, speaking to his children like two buddies:
“From now on, we’ll treat each other as we are. You can just call him ‘Uncle’.”
Why don't I call you 'uncle'?
The king shoved the general away and looked at himself with disgust. How could he not have realized that he was so annoying?
Amidst the laughter of the three children, King Daelin also laughed. He stroked the seal of the regent in his hand, shook his head, tossed it to Drake, and said:
“Take it back and give it to Lothar. I’m leaving now. I’m returning to my territory. Ny’alotha is calling me.”
"Father!"
Gianna stepped forward and said:
“You should stay here; the Vigilant Saint will surely find a way to save you.”
“But I don’t need to be saved, child.”
The king smiled and stroked his daughter's hair. He took a few steps back, and as the cold wind blew through the swirling shadows, one sickly pale Shadow People after another appeared behind the king, just as if they were surrounding their leader.
He opened his arms and said:
"These poor souls are destined never to return to the world under the sun. Their lives in Nyalosa will always require the protection and guidance of a king. Besides, that wretched sailor stole my flagship, which means he must also take on some responsibility."
The king looked at the general and said:
“Send ten ships and three hundred heinous scum of the sea every year as ‘rent’ for taking the Sea King. I need to establish cities of the Shadow People in Nyalosa, and I need those sinners to repent and serve their sentences in a new ocean hell.”
"Okay, this price is fair."
The admiral, leaning on his trident, took off his pirate hat and threw it into the water, then took the captain's hat from his eldest son and put it on his head. He said:
"I'm going to the Toldago Black Prison in a bit and I'll send all the scum there to you."
"Uh, Dad, all the prisoners in Tol Dago have been released by the Ashvane family, and now they are scattered across the oceans of the world."
Drake whispered:
"To capture them, we'd have to travel all over the South China Sea, and maybe even go to the North China Sea. I've heard that several pirate ports have sprung up there."
"Great, isn't this even more perfect?"
The general grinned, standing with his children, watching his other self vanish like a soap bubble amidst the Shadow People.
Just a second before the other party returned to Nyalosa, Dale suddenly said:
"Aren't you going to say a few words to our wives?"
That's your wife.
The king waved his hand without turning his head and said:
"I've gotten used to being alone and enjoy solitude."
In this pretentious farewell, King Daelin disappeared into the sunlight of the real world. When he returned to the ruins of Ny'alotha in the lucid dream world, a timid figure trembled and rushed towards him.
The alluring and voluptuous Naga chieftain was truly terrified; she was nearly dragged out and burned alive by those vicious state priests.
King Daelin shrugged and patted her Naga lover in her arms.
Being N'Zoth's puppet was the worst experience of his life, but having a Naga lover was, well, not so bad.
