Chapter 622, Section 83: The Vigilant's Greeting - I Have a Date with the Void
Olgalon is an "observer".
This is a unique name for Star Saints, a unique life form within the Pantheon system. As can be guessed from the race's name, their origins are intricately linked to the Astral Plane.
Even in the entire material universe, including the six realms, Star Saints are extremely rare beings, hence there are many legends about them.
How the original Star Saints joined the Titans' ranks remains a mystery. Some say that the Star Saints were created by the Titans, but what is certain is that the Star Saints possess many amazing characteristics.
Relying on the astral plane to travel throughout the material world is merely the least significant of their abilities. It is suspected that the Star Saints can also traverse the six realms, after all, in Diakum's previous life, he had indeed seen them in the Tomb of the Firstborn in the Shadowlands.
That hellhole is more than just the Force Realm.
If the Force Realm is also a "hierarchical system", then the area where the Tomb of the Firstborn is located can be regarded as the core area of the Shadow Kingdom, and the foundation of the so-called "destiny" that makes up the entire Shadow Kingdom.
The fact that a Star Saint could wander to such a place shows that these guys are not only mysterious but also incredibly powerful.
Algalon is just an ordinary member of the Star Saints; its job is to travel between different Titan worlds, responding to the summons issued by the Titan devices and going to "examine".
This is a fairly simple job.
The workflow generally involves receiving a signal, locating, traversing, arriving, retrieving all world records of the local Titan design, and comparing them with the world blueprint plan of its location.
If the world's development follows the blueprint set by the Titans, then the Star Saint can leave quietly.
If the world's development deviates from its expected course, the Star Saint will issue instructions to the Titan Guardians of the current world and order them to make corrections. These records will then be taken back to the Pantheon's data center for filing and will be returned to that world for a second review after a certain period of time.
Under normal circumstances, a world ordered to make corrections will quickly return to the perfect blueprint set by the Titans.
But occasionally, the worst-case scenario can occur.
For example, in the world called "Azeroth," Algalon knew the moment he stepped into its material realm that the world was completely "in chaos."
There is no sense of "order" here; only chaos exists. The Star Saints possess unique perceptions, making them extremely sensitive to the surge of the six fundamental forces, and they even have their own unique descriptions of it:
Order is a chord that pleases you, well-arranged and captivating; evil is an unbearable heavy metal rock, abandoning all constraints and pursuing only the complete release of destructive emotions.
Life is a passionate and surging chorus, deafening and inspiring; death is a silent and sorrowful dirge, filled with regret and coldness, making people hesitate to approach it.
Holy light is a solemn instrumental solo, monotonous yet dignified, purifying the soul and cleansing evil sounds; the void is a perverse performance by Frostdeo, turning good into evil, without any sheet music, relying entirely on flashes of inspiration from improvisation.
Each of the six fundamental forces has its own essence and characteristics. Individually, they do not cause too much trouble in any region. However, when these voices are mixed together, they create a sense of chaos that is unbearable for the Star Saint.
It was a terrifying experience that could tear their minds apart.
The moment he stepped into Azeroth, the Observer Algalon felt like his head was about to explode.
This world
There are all kinds of sounds, but there is no "harmony".
This world is beyond saving!
Not only did it fail to execute the world's evolution according to the Titans' perfect blueprint, but it also allowed the six forces to act independently, intertwined and influencing each other, making this place a "miniature" of the Force Wars.
Azeroth, the Heart of the Stars, truly lives up to its name.
"Seriously deviating from the Pantheon's predetermined trajectory, the planet's current condition is beyond saving and a 'formatting' command must be executed."
Olgalon drew his conclusion.
It will send a signal to the Origin Engine from the observatory in Ulduar to complete the formatting of this chaotic planet, returning it to the "perfect starting point" that the Titans have created for it.
Then, the observer saw the Stone Scale Dragon and the "Dark Light Sword" in its hand.
The moment it saw the sword, Algalon's energy body, shaped by starlight, flickered violently. It took a few steps back, and two short swords forged from starlight jumped into its palm. The rather beautiful and graceful "energy nodes" on its body were also flashing with various colors of light.
This means that Star Saint has entered battle mode.
Their role is that of messengers and observers. They rarely need to fight, and with the Star Saints' ability to traverse planetary realms, they rarely encounter problems that require force.
However, now, facing the enraged creature before him and the weapon in its hand, Algalon felt a deadly threat.
The "sword" was only in its nascent stage, but it could devour itself effortlessly. The observer was certain that once it was struck by the black sword, it would most likely not even have a chance to escape.
"You look delicious."
It heard the words spoken by the sword-wielding creature, causing Algalon's mind to launch an attack against it as if electrocuted.
The Star Saint can manipulate the power of stars. The moment his two short swords attacked, they created a "light pollution" like a cosmic explosion, making it difficult for the Stone Scale Dragon to track Algalon's trajectory.
It called upon the power of the rocks to try and block, but the strange sensation in its heart told it to swing its sword to the left.
So Ilyudicun, the "swordsman," immediately complied.
"puff"
The Darkblade pierced through the Star Saint who leaped from the shadows. No blood or energy spilled out, but the moment the blade entered his body, Algalon let out a strange scream as if he had been "corrupted".
The pierced area quickly turned "black," and something was injected into its starlight body. Like the most vicious parasite, it began to devour its energy and cause pollutants to multiply and parasitize rapidly the moment it entered the body.
It's not just physical pain.
The observer's vast memory and emotions also spiraled out of control at this moment, as if a pair of vicious hands had pierced its brain, stirring up the information recorded in its mind like data.
Records from one Titan world after another were unearthed, images flashed by as it issued formatting commands, and beams of white light covered those worlds.
The energy surging from the celestial body engulfed those individuals in a short period of time.
Because of the bond between the Black Erosion Sword and Ilydikon, these unearthed memories were clearly seen by the Stone Scale Dragon.
It saw humanoid creatures kneeling and pleading, weeping bitterly, amidst the surging white light; it saw towering spires swallowed by the white light, plunging the entire city and even the world into an abyss of obliteration; it saw a mother turn around before the white light and embrace her two children, letting them perish in the emotionless engulfment while she softly comforted them.
After those white lights, the once prosperous world fell into deathly silence, and the once flourishing civilization left no trace.
They did nothing wrong.
Simply because they did not grow according to the Titans' "perfect blueprint," simply because they did not embrace "order"!
The Stone Scale Dragon originally regarded this battle as a "test of its sword." It also did not consider itself a dragon with rich emotions, especially after the profound meaning of repentance was applied to its heart. The analysis from the great power made Ilydikon realize that it had indeed been a cold and ruthless person in the past.
Even so, after those memories belonging to the observer flashed before his eyes, the fury in the heart of the Stone Scale Dragon was finally ignited.
It realized that it wasn't venting its anger.
It knew, at least at this moment, that it was by no means a selfish avenger, ironically, the very image it had intended to project.
When the enemy is evil enough, it makes you appear as a righteous person.
It strode forward, and amidst the Star Saint's rapid weakening due to the Black Corrosion Sword's parasitic possession, it grabbed him and slammed him against the observatory's stone pillar. Ilydikon roared:
"How many?! How many worlds have you destroyed?!"
"No, we have never destroyed the world."
The observer struggled to reply.
"And what about civilization?"
The Stone-Scaled Dragon asked:
How many civilizations have you destroyed?
“Countless.” It lowered its hand.
It seemed to realize the source of the creature's anger, an emotion known among mortals as "the fox mourns the death of the rabbit."
it says:
"Civilizations like yours have deviated from the perfect blueprint of the Pantheon. When their chaotic evolution becomes irreversible, the order to purge will arrive. The material sea needs to return to 'order.' This sea of stars only needs one voice; it needs unity."
"Hmm, you mean, you kill all the life forms that don't suit your 'taste,' and the rest will act according to the Titans' rules? Is this how you unite the stars?"
The stone-scaled dragon was so angry it laughed. It said:
"Bah! No wonder Sargeras wanted to kill your masters. I only regret that I don't have the power of the Dark Titans!"
But it's okay.
It's alright, I've already grasped the sword.
I have already seen the disasters caused by that bullshit 'order'. You are more hateful than demons.
Demons cause destruction because it is their nature, and you know it is wrong, yet you convince yourselves to do it for a ridiculous reason.
The Burning Legion is a demon, you...
You are devils in the name of order!
The black light blade was swung up again, cleaved down by the stone-scaled dragon. The "ancient god's larva," sculpted using fragments of the sun god's molted body as a blueprint, possessed astonishing destructive power.
It was endowed with the characteristics of an eclipse, allowing each of its attacks to extinguish the light of life. It also possesses parasitic and corrosive qualities like G'huun, and has inherited the spiritual corruption of the Sha power.
This guy has already disdained using petty tricks like illusions, sound illusions, and mind control.
It was enough to crush the Titans' followers in direct combat, and once it matured, it could even fight against a true god.
The observer's starlight body gradually became filthy and blackened until it finally became a pitch-black "Ni Ge Star Saint". Most of its life light had been devoured, and the remaining light was dragged into the solar eclipse.
Ilyudicon took a few steps back, watching the Star Saint transform into a strange "physical entity," like a statue sculpted from lightless embers, resembling a pile of ashes that would dissipate with the slightest touch.
It also appears to have seen the solar eclipse.
Algalon was whispering something, but the Stonescale Dragon no longer cared.
It knew that the Star Saints were a race with detached emotions. They would not doubt their actions because of external emotions, nor would they interfere with their duties because of their own emotions.
This may be why the Titans entrusted the power of "patrolling" to them.
Such a Star Saint will not feel pain!
It will only feel that it encountered a powerful enemy, which caused it to fail to fulfill its duties, and will only lament its bad luck, instead of repenting for the terrible nature of the destruction and erasure it personally committed.
"Letting you die like this is too good for you. Death is a relief for you, but I don't want you and your masters to be relieved! You don't deserve such merciful treatment."
The Stone Scale Dragon sheathed its God-Slaying Sword.
It strode forward, dragging the dying Olgalon away from the observatory, saying:
"I want you to have emotions, I want you to have the empathy you lack, I want you to be fully aware of what you have done over the years, I want you to repent for everything you have done for your Titan master."
I want you to be tormented by those sins and beg for death, but I will refuse you!
You are destined to suffer.
Until the day the sea of stars collapses.
"boom"
The observatory doors were pushed open, and when Ilydikon dragged out the lightless and fireless embers, even Philek and Odin were startled by the horrific sight of the other.
But the stone-scaled dragon ignored them.
It dragged Algalon forward, propelled by some burning flame within its heart, all the way to Yogg-Saron's prison.
It saw the Vigilant Saint standing beneath an "Ancient God Statue," and it saw Yogg-Saron's death and annihilation frozen in the "Emberless Ashes."
That was less than one-tenth of the "pain of the solar eclipse," yet it caused an ancient god to lose all possibility of continuing to exist.
This is destined to become the most terrifying statue in the world of Azeroth, but fortunately, in the countless years to come, only a very few people will be able to witness it, and hopefully they will not be frightened.
"boom"
Algalon was thrown at Diakum's feet, and the Stonescale Dragon bent down.
It didn't need to say anything; the Watcher already knew why it had come. He glanced at Olgalon, shook his head, and said:
"Indifference and neutrality are two concepts, and also two different attitudes towards life. We often confuse the two. Unfortunately, your self-proclaimed neutrality is just a perfect excuse for indifference."
You have personally carried out far too many acts of destruction; the number of lives lost at your hands far exceeds that slaughtered by the greater demons. If I were to grind the demons to dust, I would still bestow upon you a more just punishment.
Therefore, I judge you.
Diakum reached out and placed his hand on Olgalon's ashes-covered forehead, and said:
"Go through the 'Seven Fiends Trial,' Star Saint. As long as you can get out of this calamity that caused sin on your own, then all sins will be forgiven."
"what!"
A painful scream rang out from Xing Sheng's mouth.
The mournful cries echoed through the lightless land, sending chills down the spines of the guardians and dragons who rushed to the scene.
They saw the fireless sculpture of Yogg-Saron, and they also saw a ray of light resound in the boundless darkness.
Saint Diakum raised his hand, lifting a cluster of tiny crystal fragments into the air, causing the sun-like light to shimmer in this place that had been devoid of light for hundreds of thousands of years.
It was as if a harmless solar storm swept through every corner of this evil land, erasing all the remnants of darkness and making it the cleanest place in all of Azeroth.
Even if there is a statue of an ancient god here and a Star Saint Observer who has just entered the Seven Fiends Trial and has been driven mad.
Diakum prayed in the light, telling the Holy Light of his insights and experiences. The rebuke from the void echoed in his ears, but as he endured the rebuke, the power of the void continued to rise steadily and firmly.
That was caused by the Shadow Chaser swarm's "Great Cycle" in the Twisted Void.
As long as the Void Essence represented by the Sea of No Light is not blind, He knows that Diakum's Shadow Followers are accomplishing something that no Void Lord has been able to do in countless years.
The light of the void shines over the lands of fel energy, and every wave of the Sea of Light sings of this undisputed victory.
You can hate me, but you can't ignore me; you can rebuke me, but you can't drive me away; you can curse me, but you can't destroy me.
At the end of the prayer, Diakum slowly and gracefully drew a triangular symbol, saying:
"I will soon be 'home,' Your Excellency. Welcome me with open arms and anticipate the 'Great Extinction' that awaits the Sea of No Light, a victory your children have earned for themselves."
The eclipse will come as they wish, in the twilight of the sea without light.
I am honored by this.
