Chapter 514, Section 53. Codenamed "Imperial Pangolin," he did the dirty work but had great integrity.
"boom"

The firing of the dwarven field guns shook the ground, and the scorching bullets, controlled by the dwarven gunners, precisely struck the white walls of Lordaeron.

This was even the first round of calibrated shelling, but with such a large city wall standing there, it was difficult to miss.

The walls of Lordaeron were destroyed once during a demonic invasion by the slam of the Pit Lords. They were later repaired by the Dragonborn using the arcane arts of the Black Dragons, making the newly built walls both towering and majestic.

To be honest, the dwarves' artillery fire alone wouldn't be able to destroy it, let alone even create a shock.

However, General Osmar Garithos on the city wall looked at the army formation outside the city that almost protected the walls of Lordaeron. The colorful battle flags representing different forces were flying, making him dizzy.

All the forces of the entire Eastern Continent, even the Night Elves of Kalimdor, have come. Your Majesty, what kind of trouble did you cause in Quel'Thalas to create such an exaggerated alliance of "eighteen warlords against Dong Zhuo"?
General Garithos even saw the battle banners of the Guardian Dragon Legion, red and blue banners standing beside the Sin'dorei elves' spellcaster positions, but before he could get a good look at them, a meteor strike gathered by the Sin'dorei arcane mages roared and crashed onto the city walls.

"Hide! Hide!"

The Dragonborn General shouted.

But in fact, his command was not needed. The two walls surrounding the city were too large, and each area had its own commander. Moreover, the demons they had dealt with before were very good at using such wide-range magical attacks, so there were watchtowers everywhere on the newly built walls for the warriors to take shelter.

Unless you're unlucky enough to be directly hit by a meteorite, you're unlikely to be affected by the aftershocks of the spell.

However this is just the beginning.

Soon, an attack signal came from the flank of the city wall. The Kaldorei summoned giant ancient war trees and mountain giants as siege units, while druids flew around in the air, stirring up storms to divide the battlefield on the city wall.

The good news is that they dare not enter the city at will.

Over the past six months, the Dragonborn have erected black spires throughout the city.

That was the territory of the dragonborn warlocks, and some void creatures also lived there. Although the number of spell towers was not as exaggerated as in Dalaran, their resonance was enough to overwhelm any enemy forces that dared to enter the airspace at will.

Moreover, Lordaeron is now the "Black Dragon City"!
The entire Black Dragon Legion of the continent is here. Even though Sabelian has lured away a group of rebels, the remaining Black Dragons are still a terrifying number. This does not include the Chromatic Dragons created by the Black Dragon Legion's "biologists" and the even more dangerous Twilight Dragons.

Fighting on the walls of Lordaeron is dangerous, but flying carelessly into the skies above Lordaeron is deadly.

The druids clearly knew the danger; their offensive range was currently limited to the city walls, and they had no plans to attack into the city. However, their flank defenses were far less aggressive than those on the city's front.

General Osmar Garithos deployed nearly a third of the Dragonborn on the city walls in the frontal defensive zone.

Not only because the largest city gate on the front is a strategic point that must be protected, but also because on the temporary platform erected by the shamans in the army formation on the front of the city wall, sits a guy who terrifies all the dragonborn.

That was a giant over six meters tall.

He wore the imposing and cold black and gold armor of the Judge, with the golden banners of the Lightforged Legion and the Hand of Argus planted behind him, and the Archbishop of the Holy Twilight and the Archbishop of the Glorious Dawn standing on either side of him.

Before this giant, Archbishop Nelly, fully armed, held a war bow and gazed at the battlefield.

So what the hell is this weird formation, this "trinity"?
Vigilant!
Diakum Zastins has appeared on the battlefield in front of the capital city of Lordaeron!

Although he doesn't seem to have any intention of joining the fight now, General Osmar Garithos really doesn't dare to gamble.

Even though he had absolute confidence in the walls he had personally overseen the construction of, and that they could certainly withstand even the Burning Legion's attack, he knew that no matter how strong the walls were, they could not withstand the Vigilant's conquest.

Even if only one-tenth of the legends about Diakum are true, this giant still has the ability to destroy this Dragonborn city single-handedly.

This sounds like an unbeatable opponent, but we can't abandon our defenses just because the enemy is too strong.

Garithos knew very well that His Majesty's court witches had been casting spells in recent days to summon the return of Deathwing, and that once the ritual was completed, the city might be saved.

He knew he had to persevere.

The dwarves quickly finished a round of heavy artillery bombardment, only to discover, to their dismay, that the field artillery they had brought in was completely ineffective against the "Black Dragon Wall." This greatly discouraged the dwarves, who were always proud of their "expertise in explosives," but their performance time was over.

The onlookers seemed to be getting impatient.

He raised his hand.

This action brought the battlefield to a standstill.

Behind the observation windows on the city wall, every dragonborn commander watched the giant's movements with bated breath.

They feared that the Watcher would rise from his chair, transform into a giant of light, and destroy them along with their city walls with a single strike.

but no.

The Watcher didn't do anything so horrific; he simply handed a staff radiating holy light to Archbishop Orestes beside him, and moments later, a deep horn of attack echoed across the battlefield.

Heavy armored warriors stepped forward from each position, while the shamans of the Wildhammer and Mag'har began to carve stone steps so that warriors could ascend the walls for brutal hand-to-hand combat.

But as the warriors climbed the ever-rising stone steps toward the city wall, Archbishop Auress, while chanting a loud invocation of holy light, hurled her staff toward the wall. The staff flew over the boiling battlefield and landed below the wall, demonstrating the archbishop's excellent strength, and did not cause a terrifying explosion upon impact.

The next second, amidst a deep roar, the Lightforged Dawn Overlord emerged from the radiance of his staff.

The Lightforged Demon demigod swung his claws, leaving a gruesome claw mark on the unshakeable Black Dragon Wall with his first strike.

Amidst the scattering of rubble and the convergence of holy light, the crystal beside the demon's wings erupted with intense heat, sending purifying beams across the city walls and incinerating the rushing dragonborn into ashes.

"Pathetic minions of Chaos!"

Kazak clenched his claws in disgust and unleashed a devastating sweeping attack, destroying two fortified towers as he roared:
"I fought you when I was a demon, and now I am the Holy Vanguard of the Holy Light. Do you still dare to appear before me? Die!"

"Sound the dragon whistle!"

Amidst the violent tremors of the city walls, General Garithos pulled out his dragon whistle and shouted to the dragonborn:

"Summon the black dragon and crush this demon of the Holy Light! Ha, this self-proclaimed righteous Holy Light Walker shamelessly enslaves a demon? Is this what a saint is? Bah!"

A sharp whistle then rang out.

These dragon whistles are unique magical items. Each whistle is bound to a dragon, and when blown, it can awaken the dragon and provide a precise location sensor, no matter how far away it is.

Soon, several black dragons appeared above the city walls. They planned to cooperate with the dragonborn to attack Kazzak, who was "demolishing the city walls." However, at the same time the black dragons appeared, the dragon guards, who had been quietly guarding the city walls, began to stir.

Led by the Red Dragon Prince, one after another, the guardian dragons soared into the sky.

They reached an agreement with Marshal Lothar that they would be responsible for dealing with the black dragons of the Kingdom of Lordaeron, ensuring that these corrupted dragons could no longer interfere with human warfare.

But it's not just about protecting the dragon.

General Garithos saw a strange dragon flying very fast, like a "red comet," darting around in the sky. Just as he was about to board his black dragon companion and take off to fight, the elusive creature swooped down from the sky, folded its wings, and crashed into him like a silver comet.

They were also shouting incomprehensible things like, "The sorority's trials are so vicious."

But this guy is too fast.

General Garithos's black dragon companion had just taken off and was rammed headfirst into her flank before it could even dodge.

The black dragon let out a painful scream, tumbling and crashing into the city wall along with the mysterious, high-speed attacker.

The sudden fall nearly smashed General Garithos into a pulp; luckily, he was a dragonborn and had wings.

As he fell, he looked out of the city one last time and found that the watcher was not paying attention to the city walls, but was holding a pocket watch and looking at what the terrifying giant of light was waiting for.
The question flashed through his mind, and then the Dragonborn General glided safely to the ground amidst the dragonfire, drew his battle axe from his back to help his black dragon companions, but then he saw many dragons also flying down from the sky, dodging the spells of the Black Dragon Tower and landing on the city wall.

There are a great many of these "dragon hunters," and it's not just the Blackscale Camp that came here alone. Perhaps the Steel Vision Camp and the Blackguard Camp, who are guarding the dragon, also came along.

This is troublesome.

The "Dragon Hunters," which Deathwing created to fight dragons, have now, more than 20,000 years later, stood against him and begun to assist the Guardians in hunting down black dragons.

After the Dragonsir, led by the three Scaled Leaders, went all out, the Black Dragons who came to the city walls to provide support suffered greatly.

They are often hit in the wing roots by the dragon-slaying spears before they even get close to the city walls, or they are attacked by the agile and fierce dragons that leap behind them to carry out brutal hunting tactics.

Garithos now had a bad feeling that he might witness the end of the Black Dragon Legion today.
But before the general could charge back onto the city wall, a wounded dragonborn commander rushed over from the side, his face covered in blood. He grabbed General Garithos's hand and shouted:
"The sewers! That traitor Uther has led Lothar and his men into the city through the sewers! Quickly, get to the flanks! They're attacking the underground area on the eastern flank of the city walls. If we can't hold them, the walls' defenses will be ruined."

The fierce attack outside the city was a feint; the elite force led by Lothar was the real trump card!

------

"I will never walk through a sewer again in my life. I swear, no matter what the grand goal is, I will never step into any sewer in any city again."

The white soldier complained in a low voice.

He wasn't actually a very clean person; after all, he was still a boy, and it was a bit much to ask him to take a bath every day.

Even so, the sewers of the ancient city of Lordaeron still exceeded Varian's expectations. After all, he was a prince, and even in his most impoverished years, he had never been to such a place. "And how come there are aberrations in your Lordaeron sewers? And so many filthy slimes?"

Wearing his battle helmet, Yrel spoke somewhat irritably to Arthas beside him:

"The aberration monsters can be understood as evil biological experiments by the black dragons, but these slime monsters probably existed before the black dragons arrived, right? Don't you know how to clean them up?"

Those things, once they grow to a certain size, will eat people!

"Well, there is indeed talk of 'sewer demons' in the city. It's said that when the demons invaded, some of them escaped into the sewers."

Alsace was in a bit of an awkward situation.

He was initially in a heavy mood, but what he saw and heard as he rushed into the sewers made him realize that he didn't understand his hometown at all.

Even though he was born and raised here.

“Some of the sewers here even lead directly to the palace, but time is of the essence, and we don’t have time to wander around in this maze-like place.”

Sir Uther, leading the way, said without turning his head:
"Go up this road and you can reach the back of the eastern gate of the city wall. Just open that gate and the outside army can enter the city. At that time, the city wall, which is so strong that it is almost indestructible, will become useless."

But those Black Dragon Towers ahead still need to be cleared one by one.

The dragonborn who defected to my side told me that every Black Dragon Tower is connected to the Void Barrier of the Royal Palace, and unless these towers are destroyed, the Void Enhancement granted to the Royal Palace Guards will make our advance impossible.

Lothar nodded and glanced back at the "army" following behind him, more than a thousand people participating in this anything but low-key "sewer raid".

Such a large-scale military mobilization should have been difficult to conceal from the Dragonborn guarding the city walls, but the Vigilant's terrifying figure sitting outside the city was enough to attract the attention of all the Dragonborn. Therefore, it can be said that the "sit-in tactic" currently being implemented by the Vigilant is a key element in the success of this surprise attack.

There's no way around it; some people shine as brightly as stars in the night, and the holy light they radiate cannot be obscured.

"Sir Fordring and the Guardians will open the city gates with Sir Uther. The rest of you will follow me to destroy the nearby Black Dragon Tower. Once the warriors outside the city have entered, we will speed up our advance toward the palace."

The marshal's orders were relayed up the chain of command, but just as they approached the largest exit of their sewer destination, a squad of dragonborn suddenly descended from the sky.

The two sides met face to face and were both stunned.

But Sir Uther reacted faster, his warhammer flying out with the Hammer of Retribution technique, knocking down the dragonborn before him. Then the white pawn flashed away, and Master Garona's figure appeared in the darkness.

This time, Garona was not acting alone.

She was accompanied by elite assassins from MI7 of Stormwind Kingdom, and Shaw also participated in the door-grabbing assassination.

"rush!"

Lothar brandished his holy sword and was the first to rush up the steps.

The dragonborn outside the exit also heard the commotion, but when they gathered, they were overwhelmed by the paladins of the Guardians who rushed out. Uther and Fordring wasted no time and led the paladins toward the massive city gate, while Lothar led the warriors of the Seventh Legion toward the nearest Black Dragon Tower.

Fortunately, this thing is not a mage tower, but a physical building more like a "spirit tower". There is no troublesome internal space expansion, otherwise all these towers would take forever to dismantle.

By the time General Osmar Garithos arrived with a group of dragonborn knights, the valiant Fordring had already routed the warriors guarding the city gates and was breaking through the rock formations and magical seals blocking them.

"stop!"

General Garithos, enraged, spread his wings and charged at the knights who shone with holy light, wielding his battle axe.

This city wall is what he guards; this city wall is his vow and his duty.

He was, after all, a soldier with a sense of honor.
"boom"

Garithos's battle axe was deflected by Sir Uther's warhammer. Uther, clad in Seventh Legion armor and wielding his warhammer, blocked the burning street, his eyes beneath his helmet fixed on Garithos.

Behind the knight, the dragonborn who had surrendered to him and the Ash Knights launched an attack on the dragonborn brought by Garithos, and the shouts of battle filled the ever-widening streets.

"It's you, isn't it?"

Ser Uther stared at General Garithos, who was charging angrily with his battle axe in hand, and said in a hoarse voice:

"You're the 'traitor' who's been feeding information to the Ravenholdt assassins! Osmar Garithos, King Terenas's royal general, the legendary dragonborn who reclaimed the Kingdom of Alterac."

You actually disapprove of the current state of this country, don't you?

"I can not understand what you say!"

Garethus responded with a heavy axe strike.

The sparks flying when the two heavy weapons collided were scorching, and the brawl between the two tough guys was full of power.

Sir Uther has embarked on the legendary path of the "Forged Iron Guard." When he enters battle, his weapons and armor are consecrated, even with an aura effect, making his warriors essentially fight wearing a complete set of "divine artifacts," thus making this defensive force incredibly powerful.

Dragonborn continued to join General Garithos's ranks, but they were unable to break through the Iron Guard led by Uther.

Seeing that Fording had broken the seal on the city gate, Garithos activated all his dragonborn power. His body swelled up, and his face twisted like a dragonman, almost completely losing his human appearance.

The shadow flames that swirled and spewed between his mouth and nose burst into sparks. The battle axe that he had been gripping tightly with both hands was now swung with one hand. He then took the Dragonborn Black Sword from the fallen corpse and struck it repeatedly in a flurry of blows, forcing Uther back time and again.

"Lordaeron cannot fall!"

This creature, more like a monster than a human, roared:

“You can go and kill the Naga, the Black Dragon, the Void Monsters—I have no objection! But this city belongs to humanity, and we have held out until now. After you leave, this land will not surrender to the demons, much less to you.”

"boom"

The falling weapon was parried by Ser Uther, and under the immense pressure of that monstrous strength, Uther shouted:

"So, it really was you who sent out those messages?"

Garithos didn't answer, but simply rammed Uther aside.

He lunged at the opening city gate amidst the flapping of black wings, repelling Fordring, but was then "overwhelmed" by various holy lights.

But he is still fighting.

Under Uther's complex gaze, the dragonborn general wildly swung his weapon, repelling the paladins near the city gate, as if he were guarding that gate alone, not allowing any alien race to set foot in the city he was protecting.

Perhaps after they left Lordaeron, Garithos also defended the city from being overrun by demons in the same way.

He is very powerful.

He was one of the few who truly unleashed the potential of the Dragonborn, but how could he possibly withstand the combined attack of the Guardians and the Knights of Ash?

When Grand Duke Mograine joined the battle with his holy blade, the combined assault of the three leaders of the Holy Light finally made Garithos truly feel the end of the loser.

Those dragonborn loved him dearly.

They desperately charged at the paladins' lines of defense, trying to rescue their general.

But as Arthas charged forward, smashing the last pillar of the city gate with his warhammer and pushing the gate open with the White Soldiers, Garithos was struck in the heart by the Silver Hand and had his wings cut off by Mograine.

He fell to the ground.

As he tumbled about in a disheveled manner, he saw General Feathermoon leading the elven huntresses into the city gate, which made him close his eyes in despair.

It was as if he had returned to the night when Blackwood Town was destroyed by demons. He was unable to stop the demons from slaughtering his friends and family. He drank the dragon's blood and drove away the demons, but he still could not stop those dark alien races from wreaking havoc in the court and endangering the country.

He sent out the message and successfully used Lothar's army to destroy the satyrs and the Naga.

But there's no time left!
There was no time left to continue stripping him of those dark alien races that were corrupting Lordaeron.

All alien races deserve to die!
Black Dragon, Void Witch, Werewolf, Satyr, Naga—not a single one of the alien races is any good!

But even though he was no longer the fragile young man who was when Blackwood Town was destroyed, he still couldn't stop these alien races from entering the place he was protecting.

The voice in his heart seemed to ring out again, and it seemed to mock him once more.

Oh, Garethus.

You're so weak, you really can't protect anything.
