Light's Dawn of Azeroth
Chapter 42: Reflections on the Release [Countdown to Explosive Update 050]
Chapter 42: Reflections on the Release [Update Countdown 0/50]
It's our tradition to speak our mind every time a book is released, and this time is no exception. It's a free chapter anyway, so it's a good thing for us to spend a few more dollars to deepen the friendship between brothers.
After my original novel flopped, I learned my lesson and turned back to fan fiction to start writing this book. I was under a lot of pressure (×). The pressure was off the charts (×). It almost crushed me to death (√).
The sources of this pressure are multifaceted.
Firstly, the book was a huge flop, so bad that it even hit my confidence in writing. For a while, I was even resistant and opposed to the act of writing. Those of you who wrote diaries when you were a child know that once this kind of emotion appears, it’s not far from giving up.
But fortunately, it was finally turned around.
I happened to be rewatching Black Monkey those days and saw an interview with the producer. Lao Feng’s words, “You can’t only be confident when you are successful,” suddenly woke me up.
Indeed, failure once or twice doesn’t mean anything. We have failed before. Why is it that as we gain more experience in the industry, our ability to withstand pressure becomes worse?
If you fall, just get up and keep walking. If you can't get up, just lie there for a while to rest, and then continue on your way.
It was this idea that led me to write this book.
I would also like to give special thanks to "Huo Zheng Ting Hao" here, not only because this generous guy invested four silver alliances in one go to support me, but also because the idea of this book and the original plot design of the first volume were actually completed by him and me. He is also a veteran World of Warcraft player for many years. When I told him that I wanted to start with an Eredar, he said it would definitely work, and said that others might not be able to do it, but I can definitely do it.
It makes people excited all of a sudden.
As I said before, there are actually several plot points in the first volume that could have been written as more open-ended plot developments, but Lao Huo persuaded me not to.
Fan fiction is fan fiction after all, and it needs to follow and respect the logic of the original work. Appropriate modifications can indeed be made to the main storyline, but this is not suitable for the origin story of the Eredar. It takes place in a time period long before the official history. Any drastic changes here will directly affect the entire chronicle afterwards. This means that after the first volume, I have to let myself go and create a "semi-original" work.
The difficulty is one thing, what readers want to read is another.
Just imagine, if a fan fiction book basically does not contain any classic characters that readers are familiar with, can it still be called a fan fiction book?
Moreover, my original work has failed miserably. It turns out that I am really not good at constructing the story I want. It is more appropriate for me to create in depth within the existing framework. If I don’t learn from my mistakes and continue to mess around, then I deserve to fail.
Let’s talk about pressure again.
The second area of stress is story pacing.
Perhaps it's because I haven't written fan fiction in a while, the first volume's pace is so fast and slow that it's frustrating to me. Reading this chapter every day makes me more and more irritable, and I've unknowingly entered a state of terrible mental exhaustion, and I've made the mistake that all authors make at least once:
Always want to satisfy all readers and always want to please all readers.
But this is impossible!
Everyone has their own preferences. There is no such thing as a story that everyone likes. Even Wukong and Nezha have their haters, right? How can I, a lousy novelist, be so proud of this?
Once I figured this out, the rhythm came back naturally.
I have to write in a way that I am accustomed to and comfortable with. Only in this way can I ensure that I have enough passion for writing and that a story can be completed as I envisioned.
This means that there will always be readers who will feel uncomfortable halfway through, and it is impossible for one writing rhythm to satisfy all readers, but that is not your or my problem, it is just the reality of "all good things must come to an end".
After a beautiful and harmonious encounter and acquaintance, perhaps it is time to say goodbye.
There's absolutely no need to feel sad, because we'll always meet again in the next book, and that feeling of "gentlemen's friendship is as light as water" and "forgetting each other in the world" is even more fascinating. Oh, speaking of mental exhaustion, I have another interesting story to share with you.
A few days ago, when I went to watch "Ne Zha" for the second time, I thought I could watch the plot rationally this time, but I didn't expect that I cried more violently and frequently in the cinema than the first time. But after I came out of the theater after crying, my mood suddenly improved. It reminds me of Sheldon's famous saying: The healthy release of emotions contributes to mental happiness and peace.
But after returning home and thinking about it again, I suddenly found that I seemed to have turned into some kind of dark creature like a mind flayer, relying on absorbing more intense and wonderful emotions from the outside world to achieve short-term happiness and satisfaction.
So, could it be that when you kept calling me a "tentacle monster" it wasn't a joke, but a statement of fact?
Hahahaha, let’s stop here and talk about this book.
Since it is the Dawn of Holy Light, it must be a story of light and positive energy. It begins with Argus and will naturally end with Argus. I have already thought of the title of the final volume, which is called "Dawn of Argus".
The seeds of change have been planted in the first volume. They will take root and sprout in the second volume, converge into a vortex in the third volume, and form a storm in the fourth volume. Then, it will go on like this volume after volume, until it finally turns into an irresistible countercurrent under the accumulation of the potential energy of destiny, and finally pushes the entire Azeroth star sea in a more mysterious direction.
In addition, some brothers have noticed that I have reconstructed many characters in the original work based on my own understanding.
For example, Kil'jaeden in the first volume.
I think this is what an egg should be like. At least in my mind, he should not be a stereotypical villain. Under what circumstances would a person of faith allow himself to embrace a dark fate?
Later, some reconstructed characters will appear. Without changing their fate, I will try to inject more emotions and logic into them, so that those old friends who have accompanied us through more than ten years of wonderful gaming career can have a different life in my writing.
Maybe it's more exciting, maybe it's more helpless, maybe it's not even as good as the original.
But change is always a good thing.
Since I have decided not to create original works in the future, I have to make some changes to ensure that I can create more interesting possibilities for the professions and stories that I haven't had time to write yet.
For example, DH
If I were to write about a demon hunter, would I have to write about him following Illidan on a killing spree, or would I just be content with being another fanboy or fangirl of Illidan, being shrouded in Illidan's shadow from beginning to end and unable to find his own way?
Do not!
Obviously not.
There are so many things to explore in the story of Azeroth, and it is easy to write fan fiction about this story because the story itself is excellent enough.
I am just lucky enough to have picked up some beautiful shells on this beautiful coast and be able to share them with you, my fellow travelers. The fact that I can achieve some writing is not because of my ability, but simply because I am lucky enough to meet a group of friends who are willing to listen to my stories.
Therefore, I must sincerely thank you, my brothers and sisters. Without your tolerance, there would be no book and the stories that have been written and those that have not yet been started.
I have returned to the story of Azeroth. I have gone out to explore the world, traveled all over the world but failed to find my own way to the sky. I no longer have the time, energy and courage to try again. I chose to come back here, return to my starting point, and return to my brothers and sisters who have been waiting for me.
I returned home.
It starts here and ends here.
It is now two o'clock in the morning on the 18th. Brothers, it should be eight o'clock when you see this message. Please wait patiently for four hours. Fifty chapters will be presented a few minutes after noon.
I am old and not as energetic as before. It is difficult to replicate the feat of one hundred chapters, but I can still do my best to offer a tribute of fifty chapters.
Just want to make you smile.
Love you guys!
Love you guys so much!
