Chapter 584 Such a tough bone

Edgar was driving quite fast.

Perhaps it was because there were too many people to kill and they were in a real hurry; or perhaps it was because Edgar's car was specially prepared so that no one recognized it, allowing him to act with impunity. In any case, Ma Zhaodi followed the car in front for about five or six minutes before stopping.

I thought we had arrived at our destination, but it turned out we had ended up back in the city.

"Why did you come back again?"

The soldier boy looked at Edgar, his tone almost accusatory: "If she was already in the city, why did you bring me here first to deal with her?"

"Your old flame has three hiding places: two in the suburbs and one in the city."

Edgar remained calm: "She was initially located in a safe house in the suburbs, but just now she ran into the city. Whatever her plans are, we have to go back to deal with her."

"How did you know? You didn't bring your phone."

"I brought a locomotive."

Edgar pointed to the locomotive in the co-driver's seat: "While you were taking a shower, I sent him out for a couple of minutes, not just to run around the area to see if anyone was there, but more importantly, to receive a message."

"It's all so flashy and over-the-top."

"Extra preparations are for dealing with extra enemies; a plan that leaves no room for error is no different from being unprepared at all."

Far behind, Ma Zhaodi had no time to care about what they were saying. He tried to call Butcher and his men again, but no one answered. This classic scene of being out of contact led him to hack into the phone and turn on the camera to try and observe the situation on the other side.

However, I couldn't see anything. The phone's camera only showed layers upon layers of bushes, which were too close and blocked my view. The dew also wet the lens.

There were no human voices in the air, only the sound of small animals treading on the grass as they passed by, mixed with the chirping of insects and birds.

The only thing missing was the butcher's voice; there was no sound of fighting either.

All four phones were like this: the camera remained still, and there were no other sounds around.

"What's going on?" Ma Zhaodi couldn't help but scratch his head. "Has the fighting started or not? How could something as important as my phone be left in the jungle?"

Unable to find an answer, but the situation of all four phones being used at the same time was too strange. Looking at the system, the cat's panel did not seem to have any status changes. Ma Zhaodi could only tentatively conclude that there was an extremely small possibility that they had accidentally dropped their phones in the forest, or that the mental storm had somehow managed to shake them off.

"They have to deal with the phone before the Mind Storm fight, are they worried about calling for reinforcements?" He scratched his head. "I thought the Black Robe Squad's unorthodox style was obvious enough. How can they be considered Vought's regular army?"

Just then, a voice suddenly came from Kimiko's phone.

"Found it! Sister! We found your phone!"

Then the phone's camera started shaking automatically, making it look like it was floating in mid-air.

"It's good that we found it."

The butcher's voice came from the side: "Hurry up, there are still three cell phones left, we have to find them quickly."

"Can't we just leave?"

"What if the people Walter sent find us? They'll be able to trace us back to us."

"Huh? You mean when that guy made our phones fly out, was he trying to buy us time? If he had just crushed them with his telekinesis on the spot, we could have just taken the broken phones with us."

"What's the point of analysis now that the fighting's already over? Hurry up and find it."

Ma Zhaodi then immediately turned on his microphone: "Did you catch the Mind Storm?"

"Damn it! Can you stop scaring people like that all the time?"

"Answer me."

"Found him. He got beaten up pretty badly by Kimiko."

The butcher pointed the camera behind him, and Ma Zhaodi immediately saw a man beaten to a pulp, his condition similar to that of Xuanse, who had been punched several times by the soldier boy in the basement. "His eyes..."

"He's blind. Kimiko poked him blind, so he can't use his superpowers to hypnotize people anymore."

"Kimiko really went all out this time."

"Her brother lay there like a corpse for a full three minutes after being controlled by this bastard. She was anxious at the time and wanted to resolve the issue quickly."

"As long as no one died, you're all alright?"

"It's okay, but your hat just shattered for some reason."

"That's not important—after finding the remaining three phones, lock him in the wallpaper room, and then you can go back to the base. Your mission for today is over."

"Aren't you going to try to persuade them to surrender? These pieces of trash seem to have some tough bones."

Ma Zhaodi took a serious look at the Mind Storm, whose face was now covered in blood.

"I'm asking you a question, are you spineless?"

Mindstorm remained silent, his head bowed as if he were dead.

"Alright, after we bring him back, we'll use him to curry favor with the soldier boy—"

"No! No! Don't do this to me!"

As if some kind of PTSD had been awakened, upon hearing the soldier boy's name, Mindstorm immediately trembled all over and dared not continue to play dead. He begged for mercy, looking quite pitiful: "Don't hand me over to him, please, he will kill me, he will torture me to death! He is a living devil!"

"So it can still talk after all."

Ma Zhaodi laughed: "I know you've lost your abilities and feel utterly hopeless right now, but think about what will happen to you if you fall into the hands of the soldier boy. That should give you a glimmer of hope to survive, right?"

The mental storm continued to beg for mercy.

"Alright, we don't need to kill you, but we can still heal your eyes."

After Ma Zhaodi finished speaking, Mind Storm immediately looked up, a glimmer of hope appearing on his face, as if he had come back to life: "Can you heal my eyes again?"

"With so many superpowered individuals, it's not surprising that there are a few with healing abilities."

Ma Zhaodi replied, “We can even help you survive the soldier boy’s revenge—provided you cooperate.”

What do you want me to do?

"It's simple, just like what you guys did before—I want you to betray your teammates."

"Who to sell to?"

“Soldier Boy, the rest of the Blood Debt Pays Off Squad, Edgar, and whoever the Vought Corporation has to sell, that’s fine.”

"Can"

"Think it through carefully."

Ma Zhaodi patiently guided the mental storm, as if he genuinely cared about him: "Only one of you and the soldier boy can live. If you don't find a way to kill him, he will come to kill you—Walt has used you as a pawn, and Edgar is going to bring him to kill you. They all want you dead now."

"There's only one way out. You can figure out what to do, right?"

Five minutes later, Edgar's car pulled into a magnificent theater.

The soldier boy glanced at the bustling crowd around him and asked, "Where is this?"

Edgar replied, "This is the Scarlet Countess's theater."
