Chapter 449 Killing That Superman
Chapter 449 Killing That Superman
In the Speed Force, one scene after another unfolds.
After Batman, Joker, and Lex Luthor, Lois, who possessed superhuman strength but without superhuman weaknesses, became unstoppable. Unlike Clark Kent, who was merciful, she used this powerful strength without any scruples.
Just as Ma Zhaodi had seen in the system prompts before entering this gig, Ares, Black Adam, Deathstroke, Parasite, the League of Assassins, and the Rogues. As the red light flashed in Louis's eyes, these stubborn supervillains and villainous organizations that had once fought against superheroes turned into skeletons and vanished into thin air under the heat vision.
Then she began clearing out ordinary criminals—and the death toll began to surge.
Looking at Louis, who was wreaking havoc, and at the crumbling buildings and houses, Ma Zhaodi couldn't help but swallow hard.
"What? I thought the so-called 'hundreds of thousands of deaths' and 'the annihilation of all superheroes and supervillains' were because 'Superman and Doomsday died together.' I thought they died because they helped in the battle, but it turns out they were all killed by the God of Slaughter, Louis?"
The scene kept rewinding, and eventually, the flow of time answered Ma Zhaodi's questions and wonders, and also explained why Louis had become the way he was.
"Do not!!!"
With a deafening roar, the gates of the Lonely Fortress suddenly burst open, and a humanoid shadow radiating terrifying energy flew out of the fortress.
Although he had no facial features and the details of his body were indistinct, possessing only a simple human form, Ma Zhaodi could sense his emotions at that moment—a feeling of resentment and despair.
“I started too late,” he sighed in despair as Louis wept at the entrance of the Lonely Fortress. “I put Kal-El (Superman’s Kryptonian name) into the Kryptonian Life Matrix, but it was too late. He still has no vital signs and I can’t see any signs of him coming back to life.”
"The last Kryptonian bloodline has also become extinct."
"Who are you?" Louise stared at the figure, utterly astonished. Clark had brought her to the Lonely Fortress more than once. He had said that this was a creation of his long-destroyed homeworld, a spaceship and secret base left to him by his parents. It was this fortress that carried the newborn Clark from Krypton to Earth—yet Louise had never seen this figure before.
"I am the Destroyer, a technological creation made on Kel'Thuzad by Kel'Thuzad's ancestors two hundred thousand years ago, an intelligent weapon defense system—I once asked Kel'Thuzad to allow me to initiate the Kel'Thuzad reconstruction program to transform Earth into a second Kel'Thuzad, but Kel'Thuzad refused my suggestion, so I entered a dormant state."
"My instructions required me to preserve the last remaining seed of Krypton, so when Kal'el died, my program was automatically restarted."
"I brought Karl El's body back from the grave and placed it in the Life Matrix, which should have been able to resurrect him, but I failed. Karl El is completely dead—humph, humph, humpha ...
At this point, the Annihilator couldn't help but let out a painful roar.
"My body is about to collapse and explode. The energy of the Kryptonian Life Matrix is too powerful. It should have been used on a Kryptonian. I should have found a suitable body for it!"
"Use mine."
Louis's voice wasn't loud, but it sounded quite startling at that moment.
"You? Human physiology is no match for Kryptonian DNA. You can't withstand it. This energy will kill you."
However, Louise glanced at the tattered Superman cape in her hand and simply repeated what she had said.
"With my body."
"This is not your battle."
“I love Clark, his fight is my fight, and now, I want to end this fight.”
Then the destroyer reached out its hand.
A terrifying torrent of energy surged into Louise's body in an instant. Ma Zhaodi and Clark immediately noticed red energy flickering from her skin, coursing through every cell—Louis was about to explode. At the same moment, a dark, hidden, and almost imperceptible strange power quietly seeped into this dark multiverse.
Ma Zhaodi and Clark couldn't see it, but they could vaguely feel a chill that sent shivers down their spines. It felt just like the previous glimpse, only more secretive.
It seeped into Louis's body.
The massive energy that had been surging just moments before instantly changed its nature, and it began to merge with Louis's human body. The entire process was smooth and fluid, and the fusion was completed in just a few seconds.
Superman Louis soared into the sky.
"Old Ma, do you sense anything is wrong?"
Clark frowned. He was very familiar with Kryptonian energy, but he could only sense that dark power intuitively. He didn't know what had just happened, but he felt that Louis shouldn't have been able to complete the fusion.
Ma Zhaodi stared intently at Louis in the image. His intermediate energy affinity granted him the ability to be affinity with seven types of anti-crisis energy. These seven basic forces of the DC universe resonated and connected, giving him a keen sense of special high-level energies.
Just now, a terrifying and extremely evil energy had entered Louis's body. Although the amount was negligible, he instinctively felt a sense of resistance.
"This was definitely Barbatos's doing."
Ma Zhaodi patted Clark on the shoulder: "Remember this point in time. We might be able to start from here and rewrite the timeline—why don't we just do it now?"
But after a moment of silence, Clark slowly shook his head.
"I want to see with my own eyes how I die."
Huh? The Superman of my own universe has never died?
Ma Zhaodi thought for a moment and nodded, saying, "Alright, this history has been repeated in many universes, and it's hard to say it won't happen in our universe. If you've seen it beforehand, you might be able to avoid this ending."
And so time flowed backwards to the beginning of it all.
Louise in the Daily Planet is working.
Today marks one month since Superman's death—
Her fingers typed a string of sentences on the keyboard, but her face was gloomy and lifeless.
She recalled that a month earlier, in the Metropolitan Plaza, vendors were vying to sell merchandise related to Superman's costume when he died in battle; Lex established the "Tomorrow Fund" to commemorate Superman and erected a golden statue of him in the Metropolitan Plaza.
She used to feel disgusted and nauseous about it, but now she is heartbroken.
A somber gaze swept over recent newspapers and news materials—
Refugees are arrested at the border; Kandak in the Middle East is once again embroiled in a nuclear dispute with its neighbors; the explosion at the Lex Group oil field has been declared an accident after investigation; gun rights advocates pass a new policy on licensing issues.
Today marks one month since Superman's death, and the world remains rife with crime, poverty, and corruption; it has not become a better place.
The citizens of the metropolis seem to have stopped talking about that man of tomorrow.
