Chapter 346 The Unkillable Black
P.S.: Sorry
Ma Zhaodi had a slight guess about how Denton planned to deal with Reverse Flash, so he didn't ask any further questions.
"The door is over there." He pointed to the door panel next to him: "You can go home as soon as you step out the door, so I won't see you off."
Denton thanked him, then opened the door and walked out of the room.
With a click, the door closed behind him, but Denton didn't notice it immediately; he was momentarily stunned by the scene before him.
"Isn't this my home?"
The lawn, the fence, the gate, and the familiar house behind him—Danton recognized his location almost instantly. He turned around in disbelief, wanting to see what was going on in Ma Zhaodi's room, but all he saw behind him was a thick, cold wall.
"What the hell is this—?"
Denton rushed to the wall and frantically groped around it, trying to figure out where he came from, but the wall was just a wall. The feel of it was completely different from a door, and there was no hollow part when he knocked on it.
After fiddling around by the wall for three minutes, he still had no clue what to do with the situation, so he had no choice but to run back to his front door and take out his key—and sure enough, the door was opened.
"Yes, this is my home."
Denton then understood what Ma Zhaodi meant by "I can go home as soon as I step out the door." Although he didn't know how Ma Zhaodi did it, the other party could indeed be described as having extraordinary abilities.
He glanced at his watch; it was one in the morning, and time was running out. He needed to hurry.
So he rushed up to the second floor.
"Elizabeth, Elizabeth!" he cried urgently, shaking his wife awake. "Don't go back to sleep!"
"Honey, you need to leave Central City right now!"
Three days later, at the Starry Sky Laboratory.
"This high-profile joint lawsuit against the Steiger Group has now entered the discovery phase, where the plaintiffs are submitting evidence, including document requests, interrogation forms, and witness testimonies. This phase will take a long time. Furthermore, because this case involves numerous old cases and a large amount of evidence—approximately several hundred pieces—the authentication workload has increased dramatically, and the trial may be delayed for up to two years."
Cisco watched the news report on TV with great interest, taking a bite of the sausage pizza in his hand—the food truck owner had recently gotten tired of making pastries, so he tried some new products, and he was lucky enough to stumble upon this one.
"Do you think this process is normal?" He looked at Caitlin beside him. "I remember when Dr. Wells was the defendant, there was a motion for defense process. Can Steiger make this process go through so quickly?"
“Steg is definitely trying to stall.” Caitlin, who was standing to the side, curled her lip in disdain, holding a slice of pizza in her hand. “But this is different from the others, isn’t it? Some people have already started to run out of Steeg Building and start marching, and the number of people in the procession is still increasing.”
"There's a huge outcry from the public, and now the whole city knows about this major case." Dr. Wells, sitting in a wheelchair, calmly slid into the hall from the doorway: "Steig wants to drag it out, but there are plenty of people who don't want him to."
“But I still feel this case can’t be decided too quickly.” Cisco shook his head: “There’s too much evidence. I feel it really will take a year or two.”
“Some people are already dead, but they just look alive. Steiger will only have one outcome if he persists to the end. Confessing early can get him a reduced sentence in a small number of cases.”
"Even if all the cases have their sentences reduced, it won't make a difference—"
Just as the two were talking, the TV host spoke up again.
"Despite numerous copyright disputes, the Steiger Group maintains that they will not suspend any business operations or the production and sale of any products, even though this move could lead to more severe penalties and a longer prison sentence if they lose the copyright lawsuits. Steiger doesn't seem to care." "So even a reduced sentence is useless." Cisco said with a disdainful expression, "With so many cases involving multiple charges, even if only half of them are true, Steiger's punishment will already be the maximum—a hundred years in prison and a three-hundred-year prison sentence will be no different."
"Alright, we don't need to waste any more time on Steiger's matter," Dr. Wells concluded. "He's finished; the only difference is whether he dies sooner or later."
But the television broadcast wasn't over yet.
"Currently, the most noteworthy aspect of this case remains the latest cloning research and organ transplant results from Steiger Medical Center. To this end, we interviewed the plaintiff in the case, Mr. Denton Black, this morning."
"Ok?"
Wells turned around sharply and looked at Denton, who was chatting with the host on TV. A cold killing intent flashed in his eyes for a moment, but it quickly disappeared without a trace.
“Very courageous,” he commented in a flat tone.
Cisco chimed in with a compliment: "Indeed, not everyone dares to fight a big corporation to the bitter end like this."
Wells did not respond to him.
But someone spoke up.
“The doctor is right, Steig’s matter is not important now, friends, friends,” Barry strode into the laboratory hall like a gust of wind: “Something has happened, I need your help.”
"Didn't Joe tell you not to come to the lab anymore?"
“We came across a case this morning. A very strange case,” Barry explained. “Although Joe still doesn’t really want me to fight criminals like the Flash, the Superpowered Criminals Investigation Unit was about to be established, and he admitted that we do need relevant scientific research consultations.”
“A clear distinction between public and private matters—I admire that about Mr. West.” Dr. Wells smiled at Barry. “So, what exactly happened?”
"A multi-person murder case—more than a dozen people, all dead in one night."
The expressions of the three people in the lab suddenly turned serious.
"More than ten days."
"Last night, the core members and high-ranking members of the Dabin Rock criminal family gathered at a high-end restaurant for a party. I don't know what they were planning, whether it was gang warfare, finding an inside man, or a power struggle within the family. Whatever they were planning, it's all going to fall through now."
Upon hearing that a criminal family had been wiped out, Caitlin and her two companions breathed a slight sigh of relief.
“Barry, you know, gang fights are common,” Cisco said. “It’s just that large-scale shootouts and murders like this are rare in Central City—they happen a little more often in Star City.”
“No, they weren’t wiped out by other gangs. There was no shootout, no gunfire, and no clues were left at the scene except for the bodies,” Barry replied.
"I suspect this matter may involve superpowered individuals."
