Chapter 444 Logical Conflict
In the still relatively unknown Bone Reef Sea, Wei Xi emerged from his hiding place, covered in dust and grime, with dozens of cuts from shrapnel flying from the explosion.

If Lian Gouyi's body didn't have so little blood left to bleed, Wei Xi would look a hundred times more miserable right now.

Swallowing the pill in his mouth, Wei Xi looked at his "masterpiece" with a gloomy expression and dissatisfaction.

Wei Xi just now used the large amount of ash accumulated in the empty room to create an explosion.

The trigger point was another empty room that Wei Xi had carefully selected—the furnace had a rather complex structure, and there were about twenty similar empty rooms. Finding the place that could cause the greatest damage was a science in itself.

As Wei Xi crawled through the complex passageways, he was amazed by the sheer size of the furnace, but also worried about whether the little ash he had collected would be enough. After all, Lian Gouhan had unknowingly contributed about thirty clothing chests to the explosion.

Out of genuine friendship, Wei Xi packed the colorful clothes into his Qiankun bag, and carried the box away with a floating talisman, which looked quite comical.

Wei Xi deliberately chose areas with a high proportion of metallic particles, scavenging nearly half of the ash accumulated in the empty room. However, without spiritual power, she was somewhat apprehensive, unsure of the effects of the explosion.

Having put in so much effort, Wei Xi was still quite looking forward to the explosion.

Objectively speaking, the explosion was quite effective, causing localized earthquakes, as evidenced by the numerous scratches and cuts on Wei Xi's body.

Subjectively speaking, the explosion was a complete failure. Wei Xi had hoped to blow up the furnace, presenting the Eastern Yi demon chieftain with a great gift, and ideally, to drive him mad and to his death.

Unexpectedly, the furnace was of exceptional quality; the large explosion was followed by several smaller explosions, and only one layer of the furnace's inner wall was damaged.

It's obvious that its own furnace often explodes! Why is it that when it comes to the Eastern Barbarian Demon Chief's furnace, things don't go as planned!
Rivals are enemies. Wei Xi had caused a lot of trouble, but it felt like she had hit cotton. This was the first time she had ever experienced such frustration.

"At least they've made some noise," Wei Xi thought, but he grew even angrier, cursing under his breath, "They're just fooling themselves!"

Wei Xi, who has never failed in her sabotage attempts, has met her match today. Unfortunately, even the most skilled cook cannot cook without rice, and with limited resources, she can only leave with regret—if she lingers any longer, she might be caught red-handed.

“Slaying demons and subduing monsters is Zuo Fei’s mission,” Wei Xi thought to himself after a short rest to recover his strength. “I should take this opportunity to continue my journey into the heart of the sea.”

Ultimately, Wei Xi trusted herself more; besides, Zuo Fei had failed to completely eliminate the Dongyi monsters a thousand years ago, so she doubted whether this person could help her.

"Why did that old blind man choose Zuo Fei? And what's so special about the name of the Eastern Yi demon leader, and how did it become a magic weapon to restrain it?"

Wei Xi knew in her heart that the answer to the second question was the way out for the three of them.

After all, this name is currently the only known method to deal with the Eastern Yi Demon Chief. Even if it means just keeping him imprisoned for another thousand years, that would be enough.

That would be a problem for future generations, Wei Xi thought without any qualms, guessing that by then she would have rotted away and there wouldn't even be any bone fragments left.

"Once we leave the furnace, we should reach the core area where the Eastern Yi demon chief resides. Do demon beasts know how to read? If they do, we might be able to find written records."

Having regained some strength, Wei Xi continued his crawling journey, completely unaware that the outside world had been turned upside down by the massive explosion.

After half an incense stick's time, Wei Xi, who was still circling in the stove, stopped to refill the water-repelling pills and drew a simple route map on the hem of his clothes.

This crude route map infuriated Wei Xi. The reason was simple: the rooms—or rather, the empty rooms used for forging—were distributed haphazardly. It was hard to imagine that a sane weapon refiner would use such a furnace. Even though Wei Xi knew some minor spells, the thought of cleaning such a furnace made his scalp tingle.

With her clothes down, Wei Xi planned to search three more empty rooms. If she still couldn't find a suitable exit, she wouldn't be so ruthless!

There was little ash in the empty room; apart from the collapsed walls caused by the explosion, it was completely empty except for a single trapdoor.

Using the dagger to pry open the gap several times, Wei Xi successfully opened the trapdoor, just like the previous trapdoors.

But what was behind the door was different; huge eyeballs were right there at the doorway, meeting Wei Xi's gaze.

After the initial shock, Wei Xi realized that at least the eyeball didn't seem to be part of a living thing.

With its cloudy whites and shriveled tissue, the experienced Wei Xi estimated that the eyeball had been removed at least a year ago.

This is an extremely conservative estimate. After all, humans and demons are different. Compared to the decomposition process of human corpses, the decomposition of demon corpses has greater uncertainty.

Upon closer inspection, Wei Xi realized that the person—or beast—who had gouged out the eyes was highly skilled. Apart from the knife he had used without knowing how to use it properly, there were no traces of the eyes being removed.

Don't think this is a useless guess. Crafting is a complex art. In order to avoid the contamination of materials by spiritual energy, materials cannot be processed using magic in many cases.

Such skillful handling techniques, if you searched the entire Eastern Yi region, Wei Xi would probably only have that demon leader who was so fond of weapon crafting.

By moving aside the enormous eyeballs, Wei Xi successfully entered the room-sized furnace.

Besides the eyeball that just happened to block the valve, there were four other materials in the furnace, one of which appeared to be a dried placenta.

Wei Xi's perspective transcends the definitions of "disgusting" and "not disgusting": strange materials that seem completely unrelated, combined with a furnace, are clearly intended for crafting magical artifacts.

As for why it's not for alchemy, let me put it this way: with more than half a vat of Bone-Corroding Wine, no living creature would dare to touch the pills made from it.

Unfortunately, the bone-corroding wine was not stored properly, and only a thin layer remained at the bottom of the jar. The ring-like marks on the jar wall hinted at the owner's extravagant spending.

In the dimly lit, spacious furnace, Wei Xi examined the remaining materials with a lamp in hand, and in the silence, an idea took root in his mind—this furnace might not have been used for a long time.

“No,” Wei Xi murmured, “If we’re just going to discard them, why not put away the prepared materials? Isn’t it a waste to leave them here?”

Wei Xi had never experienced a life of wealth since birth, so he naturally could not understand the extravagant and decadent life of the demons who trampled on the mortal world.

Fortunately, fate occasionally gives Wei Xi a sweet treat. At least the Bone-Corroding Wine has always been an extremely rare ingredient, and even the Eastern Yi Demon Chief would not waste it.

"...The ashes that weren't emptied from the furnace, plus the materials that weren't stored properly in the furnace...could it be that something suddenly happened that left the Eastern Yi demon chief unable to attend to this matter?"

Wei Xi had an even more secret suspicion in his heart: perhaps the evil demon was seriously injured and unable to even light the furnace.

But logic tells Wei Xi that there is more to this story than meets the eye—if the Eastern Yi demon chief was seriously injured and unable to forge magical artifacts, then who was the person who was competing with Zuo Fei?
