Chapter 1.1 Still want to eat peanuts?

Chapter 1.1 Still want to eat peanuts?

The high-mobility military ambulance sped along the rugged mountain road when a huge boulder fell ahead, causing Han Lei to instinctively swerve the steering wheel, and the ambulance plunged off a cliff.

After a dizzying spin and violent jolting, the ambulance finally landed heavily on a clearing in the mountains with a "bang".

Amidst the heavy smell of dust, Han Lei struggled to open her eyes; the world was still spinning.

Han Lei felt dizzy and her ears were ringing.

After regaining her composure, she reached out to straighten her helmet, which had been knocked askew, and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm her churning stomach.

"How unlucky!"

Han Lei muttered to herself as she opened the car door, leaned against the hood, and looked around at her surroundings with a bewildered expression.

Then, she took out her phone and tried to call for help from her comrades who were on a mission nearby.

Suddenly, the sounds of fighting came from the dense woods ahead, growing louder and louder.

"The mission has been compromised?"

As Han Lei muttered to herself, she crouched down to hide, her right hand instinctively reaching for the pistol at her waist.

A moment later, three men rushed out of the woods.

They were dressed in ancient armor, covered in dust, fighting and retreating, wildly swinging their longswords to defend themselves, seemingly having lost all strategy.

Then, dozens more people dressed in foreign clothing and with rugged appearances emerged from the woods, brandishing gleaming scimitars.

The longsword and the curved blade clashed, producing a series of clanging and banging metallic sounds.

"Your Highness, be careful!" came a cry of alarm.

Dozens of arrows were fired, and three men in armor fought back with their swords.

Unfortunately, there were too many arrows, and two of the three were hit by them, their already bruised bodies covered in blood.

"Your Highness?" Han Lei's heart skipped a beat.

This is a war zone, how come there is a film crew shooting nearby?

The mission didn't mention this.
Staring at the scene before her, Han Lei's mind went blank. Her mouth gaped open, her eyes widened, and her face, painted with greasepaint, was almost distorted with shock.

"Your Highness, you are injured. We'll hold them off. You go first."

At this moment, the man with the arrow in his left arm roared, shoved the man with the arrow in his leg hard, turned around and rejoined the battle, his appearance indescribably resolute and tragic.

In the instant Han Lei was stunned, the man who had been shot in the leg staggered toward the ambulance and fell beside it.

Han Lei's pupils contracted, and she quickly drew the pistol from her waist, pointing it at the man, ready to shoot at any moment.

The man looked up, and Han Lei saw a bronze-colored face. Before she could examine him closely, she smelled a faint scent of blood in the air.

"Really bleeding? Or is this just acting?" Han Lei's lips twitched as she muttered.

Before the man could reply, an arrow shot rapidly toward Han Lei.

Sensing danger, Han Lei, a soldier, reacted quickly, dodging to the side and firing a shot.

The pistol was fitted with a silencer. After a very faint click, the first man in the pursuing group was shot in the neck and fell to the ground.

"Kata! Kata!"

Han Lei fired two more shots, and two more pursuers fell down without warning, their bamboo armor pierced through with two bloody holes.

The fierce fight suddenly stopped, and the surroundings fell silent instantly. Both sides stared blankly at the three people who had suddenly collapsed to the ground.

They didn't even know how the three men fell during the fight; some only saw three bloody holes from which blood was gushing out.

Only the prince, who was closest to Han Lei, heard the faint clicking sound.

He stared in horror at the dark muzzle of the gun in Han Lei's hand, not knowing what it was.

But he was, after all, a prince, and his reaction was astonishing. In just a moment, he came to his senses and seized the advantageous situation before him.

"Our reinforcements have arrived! Charge!"

The prince clutched his leg wound and shouted, struggling to stand up and continue fighting.

Upon hearing that reinforcements had arrived, the prince's two guards were instantly invigorated and charged with their swords. The pursuing troops, who outnumbered them, reacted too slowly and were caught off guard, suffering heavy casualties.

Seeing that they were fighting again, Han Lei finally had a chance to glance at the arrows that had been shot into the tree trunk next to her.

Just now, those people dressed as aliens dared to shoot her with arrows. In her anger, Han Lei fired two more shots, taking down two more of them.

Seeing that someone else had been taken down, the pursuers dressed as aliens stopped attacking, ignoring the two guards' valiant counterattack, and turned to look at Han Lei in horror.

They finally realized that the guy next to them, wearing a helmet, camouflage uniform, and with his face painted in various colors, was the reinforcement the prince had mentioned.

"What are you looking at? Want a few more peanuts?" Han Lei glared at them angrily. Han Lei was from Jiangnan, and although her expression was fierce, her voice was soft and gentle, lacking any intimidating power.

The pursuers glanced at the few of their own men who had been inexplicably knocked down on the ground, then exchanged glances, chattered amongst themselves, abandoned the prince and two guards, and quickly fled.

Once the pursuers had gone far away, the two guards, exhausted from the long battle, finally sat down on the ground.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa..."

The two men were panting heavily, and one of them managed to turn his head to look at the prince.

"Your Highness, how are you?"

"I'm fine, you all should get some rest."

A large pool of blood had formed at the prince's feet, and he was leaning weakly against the ambulance.

After a long period of mental stress and fighting, outnumbered and outgunned, they were exhausted and needed rest most of all.

Han Lei was full of questions. After the three of them had caught their breath, she took out three bottles of mineral water from the driver's seat and gave them to them.

"Who are you people? Why are you dressed like this? And why are you being chased?"

Han Lei asked irritably, but she kept her gun firmly in her right hand, not daring to relax her vigilance in the slightest.

Did she forget to check the almanac before going out today? How unlucky! She was just doing her mission, how did she run into such a bizarre thing?

"Who are you?" the prince asked instead of answering.

"Who am I? I'm a military doctor!" Han Lei pointed to the red armband on her left arm. "Which unit are you from? Why are you dressed like that?"

As Han Lei spoke, she bent down to pick up the prince's longsword from the ground, flicked it with two fingers, and the longsword emitted a soft humming sound.

This sword is a real, genuine sword, and it's even been sharpened; it doesn't seem like something a film crew would use.

Han Lei was studying the prince's longsword, while the prince was somewhat bewildered when he saw the red armband, as he didn't recognize a single one of the simplified Chinese characters on it.

"I am Prince Zhao Zun, and these two are my personal guards, Pingchuan and Xiao Zhengfei," the prince said calmly.

"What?" Han Lei thought she had misheard.

The carefree prince? His personal guard? Is the person in front of me really an ancient prince?
Did she also encounter time travel?
Although Han Lei was studying medicine, she had never encountered anything so bizarre.

A sinister thought suddenly popped into her head, and she tentatively asked, "Hey! You guys aren't the legendary ghosts, are you?"

"What is a ghost?" Guard Xiao Zhengfei turned his head and looked at her in confusion.

"Don't understand? Then it probably isn't."

Han Lei muttered a denial while glancing at the prince's leg, which was wounded by an arrow.

Suddenly, Han Lei kicked the prince in the wound, causing the prince to gasp.

"hiss……"

Xiao Zhengfei, who was resting, quickly got up, drew his long sword, and approached Han Lei, shouting angrily, "How dare you! What are you doing?"

Han Lei felt a chill on her neck as a sharp sword kissed her neck intimately.

The sword was thin and slender, with a sharp tip. When it emerged from the tip, the sword energy burst forth, gleaming with a faint bloody light. It was clearly a fine sword that had killed people and drunk blood.

"Hey! No, no, no!"

Seeing that the guard was angry, Han Lei quickly waved her hand and took a step back.

"Don't be angry. I just wanted to verify if you are real people."

After saying that, she scratched her forehead and sighed. Ignoring Xiao Zhengfei's anger, she sat down against the ambulance with a depressed look on her face.

The texture of the prince's legs felt very realistic.

It seems I really have traveled through time.

This is completely unscientific!
How could she, a lieutenant medic in a special forces unit and an atheist, suddenly transmigrate into another world?
It's a good thing she watched so many dramas and learned a lot of palace intrigue and domestic power struggle techniques, but instead of being transported to the world of an empress, she was transported to some desolate wilderness in some unknown dynasty. How is she supposed to fight now?
Could it be that fate is deliberately trying to make her play... a wild game?
Oh well! Let's just treat this as a vacation!
Seeing that she had been acting strangely just moments before, but now she had suddenly sat down quietly as if she were thinking about something, Prince Zhao Zun secretly gave Xiao Zhengfei a wink, and only then did Xiao Zhengfei sheath his longsword.

Han Lei thought for a while, and after figuring it out, she approached Zhao Zun and asked, "Your Highness, may I ask what dynasty this is? Or rather, where is this place?"

While studying how to open the bottle of mineral water in his hand, Zhao Zun weakly replied, "This is the Great Jing Dynasty! The fourth year of the Great Jing Dynasty, Beiguan."

Before Han Lei could react to Zhao Zun's answer, a loud "thump" suddenly came from the side.

"Hirakawa, Hirakawa, what's wrong?"

Han Lei turned her head and saw that the guard named Pingchuan had fallen to the ground, his lips were blue, and the bottle of mineral water in his hand, which was also unopened, rolled to the side.

"Oh no, this arrow is poisoned."
