Dedicate loyalty to the good empire
Chapter 166 Black Obelisk, Part 2
Chapter 166 Black Obelisk, Part 2
Taylor thought he was funny and humorous, but he never imagined that suffocating embarrassment could be caused by just a grease boss and a lord of the Undead Dynasty.
There was a silence and tea and cakes on the table, sitting in a place similar to an imperial storage room.
In the lounge consisting of a tattered long table and chairs, Taylor was now silently looking at the two mechanical monsters in front of him.
He lowered his head and took a bite of food, while Kohl and the Lord of the Undead, two mechanical monsters, stared at him as if they had seen something particularly rare.
Taylor couldn't help coughing. "Um, could you two stop looking?"
Kaur thought about it for a moment, reached out and grabbed a piece of pastry, and imitated chewing it twice.
Then he put down the pastry, and sugar residue and flour fell out of his throat. Several diligent servo skulls next to him immediately surrounded him, making rapid electronic sounds.
"Foreign object detected, cleaning procedures in progress."
Taylor watched the behemoth Mechanicus giant, like a crocodile having its mouth cleaned by a dentist bird, lifting its head to clean the pastry crumbs stuck in the gaps between gears and metal.
Now the embarrassment is even worse.
Taylor changed the subject forcefully.
"Um, what is the purpose of this obelisk?"
The Tomb Master replied, "It's a psychic suppression system, forcing the connection between the Warp and the real world."
"As long as this ancient relic is activated, all demonic and chaotic invasions will come to an abrupt halt."
Taylor listened to this great plan and asked with a frown, "So, what does this have to do with me?"
"If you need me to provide any materials or core components."
"If that thing happens to be in my possession, I won't ask for anything. As long as you can prove that doing this can drive away Chaos, I can give it to you right now."
"The premise is that that thing is not my life."
"As for other matters, I can't help you."
Cawl let out a sharp, frivolous chuckle. "No, mortal, I do not need your soul to lubricate the gears, nor is this world so convenient that a mere relic can activate the ruins of an ancient fortress."
"If this world were truly that simple, I would have a way to get the Emperor to his feet. However, our current problem is a massive ruin."
"It has been dormant for tens of thousands of years. Although its interior is strong and immune to the ravages of time, it now appears that its power has dissipated completely."
"I need to construct this thing almost from scratch. If the so-called treasure you mentioned really exists, then I am it."
How arrogant, how proud, Taylor looked at this old mechanic with admiration. After all, most mechanics still had the concept of mechanics activated by holy objects, which was the so-called holy relics.
But this made Taylor even more confused as to why they needed him...
He ate the last piece of cake. It tasted good. God knows if there would be anything else to eat when he went out. Even if it was provided by the Tomb King, it was unknown and might be tens of thousands of years old.
He swallowed his food and waited for the two monsters to explain the situation.
Both the Tomb King and Kohl were quite polite about this. Their long lives did not lack such moments. Finally, after Taylor swallowed the food, they spoke slowly.
"I thought we needed an expert, so we asked your old political commissar for help, and he agreed to this matter," said Kaul.
"We need a loyal, reliable and capable expert to help us solve a problem," he added.
Taylor grew increasingly uneasy as he listened. "Trouble? There are almost three large military regiments stationed here, as well as the Skitarii Corps and several Death Mark snipers. What could possibly trouble you?"
"They are souls as old as I am, a race that arose before time itself was established, savage, wild, and powerful," Settra said.
"They have their own way of doing things, so neither Kaur nor I could understand why he was there."
"They are called greenskins." When Taylor heard this, his tightly locked heart finally died.
But after all, one should be grateful for what one has received, and now he needs these two mechanical monsters to repair the obelisk. After eating and drinking for a long time, he can only speak as objectively as possible.
"It's easy. There's war everywhere, which is what the greenskins love most."
"Listen up, this place has a Zerg Swarm, countless Chaos and Imperial forces, several Space Marine Chapters, and a rare Eldar."
"It would be unprecedented if the greenskins didn't come here."
Call said. "But I don't understand what attracted him here."
Taylor sighed. "Tell me about their tribe, their leaders, and what they like."
Kahl replied. "Most of the spies returned empty-handed. The lucky ones saw their flags, white flags with blue faces."
Taylor answered without thinking. "Dead Skull, those ragtag guys who are good at mechanics and casting, love to use wrenches and screws to create things that the Imperials can't even imagine."
Cawl's monitor flickered. With the Empire's knowledge of aliens strictly controlled, even an Inquisitor would find it difficult to understand such an evil race.
His voice lightened. "He's an expert."
Sester replied arrogantly. "I told you, this guy is a lot like me when I was young. He's not afraid of anything and he's incredibly unlucky."
Taylor asked. "So you're saying I'll have a dynasty of the dead, too?"
Settra tapped him lightly on the head with his staff.
Maybe because he had seen it twice, Taylor really had no sense of boundaries with this old man.
Call was a little surprised to see how quickly Taylor got along with the alien, but he continued to describe.
"Their leader is called the Great...Tech Master."
Call paused, adjusting his accent so his Gothic expression wouldn't be confused with a certain male genitalia.
Taylor said now. "That makes sense. They're after knowledge and creativity, and this is a treasure trove."
"Cawl, Besarius Cawl, the Great Sage of Machinery, he is here for you."
For the first time, Call's voice was quick. "For me?"
He looked at Taylor and said, "Maybe I should quit restoration."
Settra said. "No one but you can accomplish this, not even me. My dynasty has lost so much technology that restarting this massive device is impossible."
Taylor asked now. "Settra, you are not human. Why do you care so much about the future of the empire?"
Settra answered. "I do not wish to see Chaos taint the land, humanity as the reincarnation of the Necrontyr, like the spirits of my kin sent forth by the C'tan."
"Although the brothers who inherited your memories think you are despicable and ridiculous, I don't think the future of the Milky Way is what the Silent King said..."
Taylor was silent, then he stood up.
"This isn't the first time we've dealt with greenskins, and it won't be the last."
"Prepare some supplies for me, and I'll lead my brothers to do something."
After he finished speaking, his thighs were no longer under his control, but for the sake of the empire and the future, he wanted to see if he could stop that stupid bald Abaddon...
