Dedicate loyalty to the good empire

Chapter 10 Choose Your Enemy, Part 2

Chapter 10 Choose Your Enemy, Part 2
The camp was located behind the front line, and it fell into almost dead silence after the main force left, which was understandable.

In order to make the duel more fair, Ms. Freeblade left a large amount of supplies and equipment for Taylor. Of course, this large amount is always for the smaller number of soldiers.

Taylor thought it was a good idea. He spent some time planning how to distribute food, weapons and ammunition, and made sure that all the supplies here were enough for him to spend for an entire standard Terra month.

Of course, there are also many voices questioning Taylor's decision. For example, many people believe that Taylor's choice is just to please Free Blade, such as using such a romantic knight's bet to swear loyalty to her.

But they actually overestimated Taylor. This man just wanted to survive until he was discharged from the army, and nothing else mattered to him.

However, Taylor knew that once any words were spoken, they had nothing to do with him anymore. Others could analyze and manipulate them at will until they conformed to their own logic.

It doesn’t matter. There is no shortage of heroes and dignitaries in this world, but their fate is nothing but death. The better ones can return to the golden throne, the worse ones can become pets of the four gods, and the worst ones will be shattered into pieces.

Taylor doesn't need those people to decide what kind of life he wants. He only wants what he thinks is right, even if most people think his ideas go against the common sense of the empire.

It's hard to say whether Taylor really fits into this world.

At this moment, he was looking around with his iconic commander's telescope, but his target was actually the birds in the forest. Unlike the birds on Earth, they were cute, colorful, chirping, and looked sweet and delicious.

They are relatively fat, which may be related to the lighter local gravity. Less weight is required to fly in this world, so almost all of those birds are big.

Taylor asked the girl from Lightling, "How do you think those delicacies should be prepared?"

The girl from Lightling replied, "The beggar's chicken you mentioned last time was pretty good."

Taylor said with a smile. "Can we hit it? If we do, we'll send some scouts with dogs to look for it, and then we'll have something good to eat tonight."

The Lightling girl took out her sniper carbine and said with a smile. "No problem!"

That thing was not a common weapon of the Imperial Guard, but an ejector, an old-fashioned firearm that replaced bullets through the propulsion of projectiles.

This carbine is basically the same as the weapons in World War II except for its caliber and power.

However, such ancient weapons and equipment are very common in the vast empire, simply because they are simple to make and easy to maintain, and their unique stability also makes many imperial snipers choose such weapons.

At this moment, Taylor lit an old-fashioned cigar he found in a private house, smoked it, and looked into the distance.

He sighed that this was the comfortable military life, without the smoke of gunpowder and the overwhelming enemies of the empire.

He had already imagined himself eating delicious beggar's chicken, drinking good Amsett, and then having a good sleep until the next day to play cards and games with the soldiers.

He could even hold competitions within the army, all kinds of them, to train the body, strengthen the spirit, etc...

Away from those damn trench mud pits and terrifying projectiles.

Taylor was still dreaming when the Lightling girl fired her bullets. However, what responded to them was not the restlessness of the flock of birds flying away, nor the Lightling girl's cheers, but a human-like scream.

Taylor recognized that voice, the distinctive, rough voice of an orc.

He consoled himself by saying, "How is that possible? This isn't the front line. Are the orcs crazy enough to attack here?"

But he actually thought of a possibility, that is, the orcs used infantry to force march to bypass the main force.

It's not impossible, but it's hard to imagine such tactics being carried out on the greenskins. They always smell bad, complain and trample on everything, angry and ridiculous. Until Taylor heard the greenskins' iconic roar.

"waaaaagh!"

He immediately lay down in the bunker. It was almost an instinctive behavior. Thanks to this habit, he was able to survive the crazy war time and time again.

He couldn't help but ask himself, first the cultists, then the green-skinned orcs, there are so many fanatical warmongers in this world, why do those unfortunate creatures seem to like him?
Taylor hid in the bunker and calmly commanded the soldiers to fight back. Most of them were veterans who had experienced many battles. Although the militiamen were wearing chain mail, their weapons were provided by the Mechanicus and their firepower was not bad.

The orcs rushed out of the forest, those restless green humanoid creatures with bared fangs, similar to the Horde orcs in World of Warcraft, but they were more brutal, angry, and fond of war.

Their weapons looked crude, like wasteland-style scrap metal and garbage, but Taylor could see a clear gap in the sandbag in front of him caused by those things.

He didn't dare to think about what would happen to him if he was hit!

Those greenskins charged forward with a roar, and it was obvious that they had no intention of letting this camp go. There were a lot of them, but they chose to walk in order not to alert the Free Blades on the front line.

This gave Taylor an opportunity. A siege without heavy firepower and vehicles would be a meat grinder. If they were to go around as a surprise attack force, they could cause heavy losses, but they were facing a fully armed camp.

Countless heavy logging guns (machine guns) and Roland's heavy bombs vented their anger, and the bullets were sprinkled on the green skins as if they were free.

The arrogant enemies of the empire scattered like straw, falling to the ground, lifeless.

The greenskins may think that they can solve everything through human wave tactics, at least they must have succeeded before, but when facing the Imperial Guard and the elite soldiers of the feudal world, those methods are worthless.

Even without artillery cover and air power, it is not difficult to deal with this group of greenskins. Their lack of accuracy makes it difficult to kill the soldiers behind the cover.

But the endless plains provide excellent shooting range for guns.

When the war ended, it was already noon and night. The greenskins retreated, and a large number of corpses filled the western part of the camp. The smell of blood and mushrooms was overwhelming.

In fact, Taylor didn't know what happened, but he could probably guess what happened.

Now, the soldiers admired him even more.

Because this group of soldiers killed hundreds of orcs with very little loss, this camp now became a solid shield strategically, trapping those orcs who came to attack from behind.

All this happened only because Taylor and Free Blade confronted each other and gave the most accurate orders!
But Taylor realized only one thing.

This attack will definitely not end. The orcs will send more forces to pull out this nail in their throat just to complete the strategic encirclement.

His face was ashen, but the soldiers took this as a sign of determination. He was trembling, but those people thought he was praying for the fallen heroes.

When Taylor finally prepared himself mentally, sat in his command seat and decided to accept his fate.

The militiamen suddenly gathered together, lifted him high, threw him into the sky again and again, dropped him, and repeated this while shouting.

"Tyler! Kyle Anchor! Hero of the Empire!"

Taylor was terrified. His shouting was mistaken for cheering, his struggling for happiness. Until now, no one had realized that their leader was actually a genuine anti-war activist...
