Chapter 153 Never Scared
In the Meng family yard, Meng Fude harnessed the car and planned to send He Jinqiu to the town first.

Seeing his daughter come back, He Jinqiu said a few words to her, telling her not to save the food, sugar, meat and other things at home and to eat as much as she wanted.

As for the food for the guests, she would buy it in town later, and the family would just need to prepare some glutinous rice balls and rice noodles.

After explaining the matter, the couple left immediately. Meng Shulan didn't have time to say anything except nodding.

Forget it, since my family doesn’t know yet, let’s just leave it this way for now.

Meng Shulan stood in the yard to hang the clothes. She put the basin away and prepared to go to the vegetable garden in the backyard to get some vegetables and cook noodles for lunch.

Just now, when my father left, he said that he would have lunch in town.

She was alone this afternoon, so she just joined us casually.

Meng Shulan was about to go over with her sickle and bamboo basket when Gu Yue, with her braids, popped her head out from the top of the wall next door and called out, "Sister Shulan, look here."

Meng Shulan was a little surprised to see Gu Yue, "Why are you climbing so high? Are you afraid of falling?"

When the courtyards of the Ye and Gu families were built, in order to save trouble and convenience, the two families shared the middle wall, with only one layer separating them.

This simple layer of gravel and mud wall is actually not very important. It only serves as a partition and a shield. Sometimes when people talk in the yard, the loud voices can be heard by the neighbors.

When she was young, Meng Shulan was just like Gu Yue is now. She would often climb a ladder to the top of the wall to call Gu Hansong out to play, talk to him, and watch him do things at home.

Once, Meng Shulan failed to hold on firmly and fell down. Gu Hansong was so scared that he climbed over the wall to see her.

Although Meng Shulan was not seriously injured and just cried, her family no longer allowed her to climb the wall. Gu Hansong also said that it was not allowed and that she should come to him if she had any problems and not peek.

After so many years, little heads popped up on the wall again, but they were replaced by the younger generation in the family.

Meng Shulan smiled and walked to the wall, then looked up and asked Gu Yue, "Are you looking for me?"

Gu Yue grinned, revealing the chocolate candy in her mouth.

"I'm not looking for you!" Gu Yue lowered his voice and said mysteriously, "My uncle is looking for you."

After saying this, Gu Yue walked down the ladder and left.

Meng Shulan stood at the foot of the wall and waited quietly.

She now knew that it was not Gu Yue who was looking for her, but Gu Hansong.

Soon, the ladder on the next wall was moved away, and Gu Hansong's voice came from the other side of the wall.

"You got it, right?"

With just one simple sentence, Meng Shulan understood what he meant.

He was asking if she was aware of the rumors in the village.

Meng Shulan: "I understand."

The two of them asked and answered each other, and then fell silent.

Meng Shulan's mood has not calmed down yet and she doesn't know what to say.

On the other side, no one knew what Gu Hansong was thinking. She didn't speak, and he didn't say anything either.

After a while, Meng Shulan asked, "Have you cleaned your house yet?"

"Yeah. Almost."

Meng Shulan: "You've been out for so long. Is everyone at home okay? Is anything wrong?"

Gu Hansong was silent, perhaps not understanding why they were chatting about family matters when they had come here to discuss something.

But he still replied: "Every time I go out, I ask someone to help look after the house. Everything is fine."

It turned out to be the case.

Meng Shulan smiled and was about to get the topic back on track when she heard Gu Hansong ask, "Do you need me to find a way to clarify this?"

"Clarify? What do you want to do?"

This person actually wants to clarify!

Meng Shulan was a little curious. What on earth did he want to do?

Gu Hansong: "I will handle it, you don't need to get involved."

He said it so coolly, but Meng Shulan heard a hint of disappointment in his voice.

What's his plan?
Should he tell everyone that there was nothing going on between them? Or should he deliberately arrange a blind date with someone else, or cause some other misunderstanding?

Meng Shulan believed in his ability and believed that there was nothing he couldn't accomplish as long as he wanted to.

Can……

Meng Shulan: "You don't have to deal with it." "Huh?"

There was surprise in Gu Hansong's voice.

Although Meng Shulan didn't know what was happening on the other side of the wall, she could imagine that her answer surprised him. The man even moved closer to the wall. Although he couldn't see anything, he stared at this side seriously, trying to see her expression through the cracks in the wall.

Meng Shulan said: "It is the truth, there is nothing to clarify."

Although it happened a little earlier than expected, now that it's known, let it be. If I deliberately make things complicated, it might cause more trouble later.

Meng Shulan has to prepare for the exam now, and she also has to take care of things in the store sometimes. She is already tired enough and doesn't want to waste any more time on meaningless things.

"You, aren't you afraid?"

Gu Hansong was a little confused, but his voice began to become lighter.

Meng Shulan smiled, "I've never been afraid."

The temporary concealment is just to make things simpler.

Since it can't be avoided, just forget it.

On the other side of the wall, Gu Hansong also smiled, "Okay, I understand."

Meng Shulan: "Have you started cooking?"

"Preparing."

"My parents are in town, so I'm having lunch alone today."

Gu Hansong: "What are you planning to do?"

"Let's cook a bowl of noodles. It's too complicated and time-consuming." And it's boring to do it alone.

Gu Hansong: "Don't do that. I'll make some meat patties for lunch today and give them to you later."

"Okay."

Just a chance to try his cooking.

Meng Shulan smiled and went back to her room to read.

When it was time for dinner, Gu Hansong really brought the meat patties over, not through the main gate, but by using a ladder to bring them over from the other side of the courtyard wall.

Meng Shulan also moved the wooden ladder from her home and stood on it.

After many years, the two stood together in this way again, one was pretty and beautiful, the other was handsome and elegant, and they were no longer the two childish faces of their childhood.

The two stood on their respective wooden ladders, looking at each other and smiling.

Meng Shulan said, "This is too much."

Gu Hansong was holding a large bowl with five pancakes in it.

She can only eat three at most.

Gu Hansong: "It smells good and tastes good."

He is quite confident.

Meng Shulan took it and tried her best to eat it. If she couldn't finish it, she would give it back to him later.

Gu Hansong helped hold her wooden ladder, "You go down first."

"Ah."

Meng Shulan was about to go down, but took two steps back and then stood up again as if she remembered something.

Gu Hansong: "What?"

"Your face is dirty."

Meng Shulan reached out and touched his cheek directly.

Actually, no, I just wanted to reward him.

This pancake looks delicious, his cooking skills are really good.

Gu Hansong didn't expect this to happen. He had washed his face before coming up, so it couldn't be dirty.

and so……

Gu Hansong stared at her who was only half a palm away from him, his eyes deep and his ears slowly turning red.

Meng Shulan had no idea that her little thoughts had been seen through. She withdrew her hand contentedly and quickly went down.
