Traveling through the 1970s: The young wife loves to make trouble
Chapter 301 Unjustly Accused
Chapter 301 Unjustly Accused
“That’s right, it must be this little beast and his accomplices taking revenge on us.” An old woman squeezed out from the crowd, pointing at Han Ying, whose arm was being grabbed by a man.
He said viciously, "My eldest grandson also beat him yesterday morning. This morning he was lying unconscious in bed covered in injuries, and I couldn't wake him up no matter how much I called him."
The woman who had been cursing earlier said, "She must have been seriously injured last night; it was her accomplice who did it."
"Are you sure you're not mistaken?" a villager who had come to watch the commotion asked. "His accomplices? What accomplices could he have? Old Tao and Old Mrs. Chen who live with him?"
"Old Tao and Old Mrs. Chen usually look so frail. How could they possibly sneak into your house in the dark and beat your children?"
"Perhaps it wasn't Old Man Tao and Old Mrs. Chen who did it."
The old woman said, "The accomplices we're talking about aren't Old Man Tao and Old Mrs. Chen, but other people. You probably don't know, but this little rascal is very strange."
“The children from four families in our village had conflicts with him, and all of them were seriously injured.”
"Is that really true?"
"It should be true. I saw Old Li driving his oxcart out today. I specifically asked him about it, and he said he was taking a few people to the town hospital to see a doctor."
“That’s right.” The old woman looked at the man who spoke. “Old Li was the one who took my grandson and the sons of three other families to the town hospital to see a doctor.”
"So, does that mean he really has accomplices who helped him hurt people in our village?"
"Then the rest of the villagers are in danger."
"No, no, such a dangerous person cannot stay in our village. Find the brigade leader, two of you go and call him here quickly."
The woman said, "I went to the brigade leader's house this morning. His wife said he took Wei Laoda to see the doctor yesterday and hasn't come back."
"The captain isn't here."
"The brigade leader isn't home, go find the old Party Secretary, hurry up and go find the old Party Secretary."
Everyone was talking about it.
"Let me go, let me go!" Han Ying struggled as the man grabbed his arm and he heard them hurling insults at him.
"I have no accomplices, and your son being beaten has nothing to do with me." Unfortunately, Han Ying was small and weak, and could not break free from the middle-aged man's grip.
The old woman stormed over and slapped Han Ying across the face. She yelled, "You say you didn't, but who believes the words of a little beast brought here by a convict?"
Four clear finger marks quickly appeared on Han Ying's cheek, but he ignored the pain. He looked at his wife and retorted, "I told you, I didn't hit your grandson."
"You are framing me, you are wronging me."
He didn't cry even when he was falsely accused, wronged, or slapped. He didn't dare to speak loudly, afraid that Grandpa Tao inside would worry about him.
The man scoffed, "We wouldn't stoop to accusing you. Get out of the way, we're going in to search."
After saying that, the man tossed Han Ying aside.
Ignoring the pain from the fall, Han Ying got up and tried to stop the man again. He hugged the man's legs tightly with both hands, saying, "I have no accomplices, and I didn't hit your son."
"It was your son who hit me, and... My grandfather is already injured. Going in will only prevent him from recovering properly." Grandpa Tao refused to say who hit him, but Han Ying knew it must have been the same people who hit him. He had stopped them when he discovered them stealing bricks from the yard in front of the bamboo grove.
Those people blamed him for meddling and beat him up.
He thought that once he got a beating, the matter was over. Unexpectedly, Grandpa Tao was implicated and also got beaten up.
The man impatiently kicked Han Ying's thin body away. "Kid, I think you don't know whose territory this is. If you dare to stop me again, I'll kick you to death, and you'll deserve it."
Already injured, Han Ying was now even more wounded, lying on the ground in pain, unable to get up. Yet, she still insisted, "I have no accomplices, I didn't hit your son."
"You can't go in, you can't go in and hurt my grandfather."
The man didn't even glance at Han Ying before walking straight into the bamboo grove.
The old woman and the older woman exchanged a glance and followed the man into the bamboo house. Two young men followed them in; no one in their family had been beaten, they were just there for fun.
Grandpa Tao sat back on the bed, looking at the door with worried eyes. The bamboo house was not soundproof, and he could hear all the noise outside. He was very worried about Han Ying, worried that he would be bullied by the villagers.
Unfortunately, he couldn't move his legs and couldn't go out to check the situation, so he could only worry helplessly.
Last night, Wei Jingyuan came to treat his wounds and applied medicine. His legs weren't in as much pain then, but he still couldn't move them.
Seeing the group of people enter, Grandpa Tao asked coldly, "What are you doing? Where's Hanying? What have you done to Hanying?"
"You'll soon find out what we're going to do." The man walked to the bedside and yanked Grandpa Tao off the bed, throwing him to the ground. "You stinking convict, why are you sitting while I'm still standing?"
He was violently pulled off the bed and thrown to the ground. Although Grandpa Tao braced himself with his hands to prevent his legs from hitting the ground first, he was still badly hurt by the fall.
Pain, pain all over his body, but Grandpa Tao didn't make a sound. He looked up at the man, "What exactly did you do to Hanying?"
The man said disdainfully, "A wicked little brat who doesn't do his labor reform properly and insists on meddling in other people's business. We can do whatever we want with him, and he deserves to be beaten to death."
Grandpa Tao's face changed drastically, and he said angrily, "How could you do this? He's still a child. If you have a problem, come at me, don't hurt him."
The man walked over and kicked Grandpa Tao in the leg. "I'm coming for you, you stinking convict, you old geezer, what can you do about it? If we beat you to death, you'll deserve it."
With an existing leg injury, the kick caused Grandpa Tao to gasp in excruciating pain. "Killing...killing is illegal."
"Don't try that on us. That little brat's accomplice beat up several of our families' children, leaving them seriously injured. Killing him would just be revenge."
“Taking revenge in private is also illegal.” Grandpa Tao said through gritted teeth, then his whole body went limp to the ground.
He felt nothing but pain now. He thought he was truly old and it was time for him to die.
"Brother, calm down, don't waste your breath on this convict." The aunt glanced at Grandpa Tao on the ground, showing no sympathy, but simply not wanting to be embroiled in a murder case.
"He's barely breathing; if we keep hitting him, he might die. Let's smash everything in his house to vent our anger, and then we'll call it a day."
"Huang Lao Er's wife is right, that old geezer definitely won't live much longer. If we don't beat him, he might not even make it through the night," the old woman said.
