Chapter 269 Never happen again
Upon hearing the knock, the three people inside, who were already at the door, opened it.

Seeing Wei Jingyuan and Tao Qiuyi standing outside the door, the three of them breathed a sigh of relief. Li Zi even pushed past Xiao Huai, stepped over the threshold with one foot, and hugged Tao Qiuyi's arm with both hands.

He pulled her into the house and looked her up and down. Pear, her eyes full of worry, asked, "Sister-in-law, are you alright?"

She, Xiaohuai, and Qiusi were inside the house, and they could hear clearly the conversations from the next room and outside. Especially the things Grandma said to their eldest brother and sister-in-law.

Qiu Si tried to rush out several times, but Xiao Huai stopped him each time.

Although Tao Qiusi and Xiao Huai didn't ask, their eyes were full of worry when they looked at Tao Qiuyi.

"It's alright. Your sister-in-law is so strong, when have you ever seen me suffer a loss?" Tao Qiuyi asked with a smile.

Judging from their expressions, she knew they had heard the talking and shouting outside. They opened the door the moment she knocked, clearly having been waiting there.

Not to mention that Li Hongying's voice was so loud and full of energy when she cursed.

Pear was instantly amused by Tao Qiuyi's words, "Yes, sister-in-law is so amazing, she has never suffered a loss."

“That’s right.” Tao Qiuyi reached out and pinched her pear-shaped cheek.

Pear continued, "Grandma just scolded my eldest brother and sister-in-law, and Qiu Si was so worried about you. He tried to rush out several times, but Xiao Huai stopped him."

Tao Qiuyi and Wei Jingyuan exchanged a glance, then looked at Qiu Si and Xiao Huai at the same time.

Qiu Si glanced at Wei Jingyuan, then lowered her head guiltily. She murmured an explanation, "She wronged my sister like that, I'm worried..."

Before she could finish speaking, Qiu Si glanced at Wei Jingyuan again.

There was nothing that Tao Qiuyi and Wei Jingyuan didn't understand.

Wei Jingyuan said with a dark face, "I promised to protect her, and I will definitely not go back on my word."

“It’s not that I don’t believe Brother Wei, it’s just that that person is your grandmother, Brother Wei, and she keeps saying…” Qiu Si stopped herself halfway through her sentence.

He suddenly realized that the more he explained, the more he seemed to be making excuses for himself, so he simply stopped explaining.

Walking up to Wei Jingyuan, Tao Qiusi bowed her head and apologized, "Brother Wei, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have disbelieved you."

If you make a mistake, you should apologize. No amount of explanation can compare to a sincere apology.

"This will not be repeated," Wei Jingyuan said.

Hearing him say those four words meant the matter was over. Tao Qiusi quickly thanked him, "Thank you, Brother Wei, for being so magnanimous and not holding it against me."

Pear looked at her older brother with a puzzled expression, then at Qiu Si.

Tao Qiuyi praised Qiu Si, saying, "To know one's mistakes and correct them is the greatest virtue."

Turning her head, she praised Xiao Huai without reservation, "Xiao Huai did the right thing too."

After praising Xiao Huai, Tao Qiuyi turned to Qiu Si and said, "Qiu Si, I told you to stay inside and not go out because I didn't want you to have to deal with these trivial matters at such a young age."

“I meant well and was thinking of you all, but Qiu Si, you didn’t take my words to heart. It was Xiao Huai who stopped you, otherwise you would have made a mistake.”

“Our family has always been fair in rewarding and punishing. Starting tonight, Qiu Si will run with Li Zi and Xiao Huai.”

"Okay," Qiu Si readily agreed.

Tao Qiuyi asked Pear, "Pear, is it okay if Qiusi runs with you and Xiaohuai from now on?"

“Okay.” Pear was happy; with more people running together, she might not be the last one.

"Where's Xiao Huai?" Tao Qiuyi asked Xiao Huai again.

"I'm fine with anything." Xiao Huai didn't care whether there was one more person or one less during the run. "Okay, it's decided then." After consulting with the siblings, Tao Qiuyi made the final decision.

She glanced at Wei Jingyuan, who immediately understood her meaning. He said to the three of them, "Let's go, it's time for a run."

Pear and Little Locust were very self-aware and took the lead in leaving the house, while Wei Jingyuan did not leave and waited for Tao Qiusi.

"Brother Wei is going for a run too?" Qiu Si asked Tao Qiuyi curiously.

Tao Qiuyi said, "Whether he runs or not is up to him. As long as he supervises and guides the three of you in running, that's fine."

What does it mean to supervise them? Tao Qiusi frowned. It's just a run, why would they need Brother Wei to supervise them?

Tao Qiusi felt that she had agreed somewhat hastily.

Seeing that Qiu Si was still standing there, Wei Jingyuan walked over directly. He reached out and grabbed Qiu Si by the back of his neck by the collar, lifting him out of the house like he was carrying an object.

"Brother Wei, Brother Wei, listen to me..." Hearing Qiu Si's arguing voice coming from outside, Tao Qiuyi smiled.

Soon, the sound of running could be heard in the courtyard, occasionally mixed with Wei Jingyuan's voice.

Everyone had left, leaving Tao Qiuyi alone in the room. She seized the rare opportunity to go into her ring space to organize the herbs and, while she was at it, to roll some more pills.

Outside the house.

Pear and Little Locust ran very skillfully, without needing any guidance from Wei Jingyuan. Tao Qiusi, on the other hand, was initially unaccustomed to the routine, running slowly and requiring Wei Jingyuan's guidance from time to time.

Only then did Tao Qiusi truly understand what her sister meant when she said that Wei Jingyuan was supervising and guiding.

Perhaps because she was preoccupied with something and couldn't concentrate, Tao Qiusi stumbled and almost fell while running.

"Qiu Si, concentrate and don't get distracted." Wei Jingyuan's voice rang out. He didn't speak loudly, but it was enough for the three of them who were running to hear him clearly.

Tao Qiusi was speechless, not expecting that even his small movement could be seen. He glanced at Xiao Huai, who was running ahead, and then looked back at Li Zi, who was clearly lagging behind.

Tao Qiusi quietly slowed his pace, waiting for Lizi to catch up, and ran alongside her. Lizi glanced at him questioningly, but said nothing or asked anything.

"Pear, what did Brother Wei do for a living before?" Tao Qiusi asked casually.

When he asked about her older brother's previous job, Pear answered truthfully, "He was in the army."

So he was a soldier. No wonder he gave off such a decisive and ruthless vibe. Tao Qiusi sighed inwardly and told Pear, "Concentrate and don't fall."

"Okay, thank you for the advice, Brother Qiu Si," Pear said sweetly.

The two quickly separated and ran off on their own.

Having noticed the two talking earlier, Wei Jingyuan chose to turn a blind eye.

After running ten laps in the yard, Tao Qiusi felt her legs shaking so badly she could barely stand.

He simply sat down on the ground to rest.

Xiao Huai finished running first and was standing to rest when he saw Qiu Si finish running and sit down on the ground. He walked over to Qiu Si and said, "Sitting on the ground right after running is cold and you'll easily catch a cold."

"It's alright, I'll just sit for a while." Tao Qiusi looked up and smiled at Xiao Huai.

"You can't even sit for a while," Xiao Huai said sternly. "Get up and go inside to sit."

"Xiao Huai, don't be so serious. I really will only sit for a little while, just a short while." Tao Qiusi still didn't get up.

Xiao Huai said, "You can't sit on the ground after running, that's a rule set by my older brother and sister-in-law. If you don't get up, I'll go and call my sister-in-law."
