Chapter 139 Full of blood

The secret letter eventually fell into the hands of Dong Yan.

After reading the secret letter, Dong Yan leaned back in his chair with a dejected look on his face.

"Alas, God wants to kill me." If he disobeys, his entire clan will be implicated.

That night, Ji Xiuyi provoked the jailer, angering him and letting him open the door and beat him up.

Ji Xiuyi took advantage of the jailer's inattention, pulled out the jailer's sword from his waist and committed suicide. Before he died, he shouted: "The prince killed me! The prince is the real murderer behind this!"

The Dali Temple Minister wrote down Ji Xiuyi's affairs and wanted to report to the Emperor at the morning court tomorrow.

In Prince Zhong's mansion, after Shen Jing and Ji Anyu had dinner, Ji Anyu took a bath behind a screen.

Because Ji Anyu kept shouting that she was afraid to be alone, Shen Jing had to sit on the other side of the screen and wait for Ji Anyu to take a bath.

Just when he couldn't help but bleed from his nose, Zhusha came hurriedly to report what happened in the Dali Temple.

Ji Anyu was surprised that Ji Xiuyi died suddenly, she grabbed the edge of the bathtub and shouted.

"Ah Jing, send someone to check on my grandfather. I'm afraid he'll run into the Dali Temple impulsively."

Shen Jing looked up at the bamboo brake outside the door and said, "Listen to the Crown Prince's Concubine and go and stop them."

Ji Anyu stood up and wiped herself clean. She put on her middle shirt and walked across the screen. She saw Shen Jing covering his nostrils with his index finger.

"Husband, what's wrong with you?" Ji Anyu strode up to Shen Jing and raised her hand to grab Shen Jing's index finger.

"Why is the bottom of your nose red?"

Ji Anyu stood on tiptoe and took a closer look. "Ah! You have a nosebleed! Sit down quickly. I'll pat your forehead to see if I can stop the bleeding."

Shen Jing was pressed on the stool, and his eyes happened to fall on Ji Anyu's bulge. He quickly looked away and stared at the screen.

Ji Anyu followed Shen Jing's gaze towards the screen, mistakenly thinking that Shen Jing was looking at the bathtub behind the screen.

"Didn't my husband just say he wanted to bathe with me out of spite? I've already finished bathing, it's your turn now, the water is still hot."

Shen Jing's face flushed. When did he get angry?

He was just a little bit annoyed that Ji Anyu focused his attention on Deng Qiqi and Ji Yunchu. Ji Anyu asked Ya Yan whether he had found out whether the incense he got from Deng Qiqi was poisonous, and then ran to the villa and the Duke's Mansion.

When he couldn't see the person he was thinking about, his brain went crazy and he spoke without thinking, saying that he wanted to be with his wife all the time, even taking a bath with her.

"My lady, I was just talking nonsense, don't take it seriously."

There was a tenderness in Ji Anyu's eyes that she was unaware of, and she lifted Shen Jing's chin slightly.

"It's okay, we are husband and wife, so it's okay to take a bath together."

Ji Anyu lowered her head and sniffed her wrist. "I threw a lot of flower petals into the bathtub, and they still smell good. My husband, don't waste them. Go in and take a bath while the water is hot."

Shen Jing felt his nasal passages becoming increasingly itchy, and he tilted his head upwards to approach a line.

"My lady, please don't say any more. I'm going to the study to take care of something first. Maybe something big has happened to the prince."

Seeing his nose bleeding, Ji Anyu shouted out the door in worry.

"Qiao Xin, let Ya Yan come over and check on the prince's body."

Shen Jing roughly wiped the blood from his nose with his sleeve, and picked up the hem of his clothes to wipe Ji Anyu's bloody hands.

"I'll go find Ya Yan to stop the bleeding myself. You can go to bed early."

"Okay." Ji Anyu knew that Shen Jing had something to deal with, so she nodded obediently and watched Shen Jing's back as he fled in a panic.

The next day.

Before the Grand Justice could say anything, Dong Yan reported to the emperor, admitting that he had embezzled military pay in the name of the crown prince. Later, in order to make up for the deficit in the account book, he teamed up with Ji Xiu to send people to kill the Deng family.

The Dali Temple Minister looked at Dong Yan thoughtfully, and after thinking it over, he decided to present the memorial he had written to the emperor.

The second prince's party members took advantage of the situation and wanted to bring down the crown prince. Dong Yan argued with the scholars and took all the blame on himself.

The emperor was furious and ordered his men to draft an edict to punish Dong Yan's entire clan.

The prince then stood up and argued to save the lives of everyone except Dong Yan and his legitimate son.

The emperor watched coldly as the prince wrote and directed his own story. He knew that the matter was related to the prince and that he was the mastermind. However, for the sake of the royal family's reputation and for the queen's sake, he was willing to turn a blind eye.

"Behead Dong Yan and his legitimate son at noon today and let the rest be exiled to the border."

The officials knelt down and kowtowed, "Your Majesty is wise."

After the court was dismissed, the emperor left the prince alone.

"Prince, do you know your mistake?"

Shen Yuxian felt a chill in his heart and immediately knelt down and kowtowed.

"I didn't know people well enough and made a big mistake. I will keep it in mind and reflect on it from now on."

"Humph! You are my child, whom I have watched grow up. I know all your little thoughts. I won't bother with you for secretly raising soldiers and horses behind my back, but if you have any thoughts again in the future, I will not tolerate you."

Shen Yuxian suppressed the fear in his heart and pretended to be confused.

"I was assassinated by a traitor and had no choice but to raise an army. I did this only to protect myself. I will always remember your teachings."

The emperor looked at Shen Yuxian coldly, leaned over and squeezed Shen Yuxian's shoulders.

Shen Yuxian felt like his shoulders were about to be crushed by the emperor, and he forced a smile at the emperor despite the pain.

The emperor's face became even colder when he saw this, and he pushed Shen Yuxian hard.

"Don't learn from your uncle. I will not show mercy."

Shen Yuxian swallowed his saliva in fear, and only dared to stand up when the emperor disappeared from his sight.

Outside the palace, Shen Jing and Ji Anyu sat in a teahouse, looking down at the bustling crowd below. There was a large empty space in the crowd, and Dong Yan and his legitimate son were kneeling inside.

Ji Anyu glanced at the sun in the sky and said, "Ah Jing, this case was closed too quickly."

"Well, Dong Yan is just the prince's scapegoat." Shen Jing took a sip of tea.

Ji Anyu looked at Dong Yan, whose half hair was white.

"I heard that Dong Yan is a capable man. When he was young, he was an honest official who spoke for the people and killed several corrupt officials. After he took over the Ministry of Revenue, it became well organized. It's a pity. I hope Dong Yan doesn't follow the wrong person in his next life."

Shen Jing turned his head to look at Dong Yan, and saw that Dong Yan's eyes were fixed on the man in front of the crowd. His eyes suddenly became sharp.

Ji Anyu held the teacup in her jade hand and looked over curiously.

"Hey, isn't that Xu Yuyan? He's a scholar, but he also likes to watch people beheaded."

Qing Wu was overjoyed, "Princess, I'll go ask if Xu Yuyan has finished eating the rice and flour he sent last time."

"Okay, go ahead." Ji Anyu said with a smile, "If the money is not enough, go back and get some."

"Yes!"

Zhusha saw Qingwu skipping down the stairs and secretly wondered if it was necessary for him to be so happy to see Xu Yuyan.

Xu Yuyan looked indifferent, but with some hatred hidden in his eyes as he stared at Dong Yan.

He didn't expect to see Dong Yan get his retribution so soon, which saved him the trouble of planning revenge on Dong Yan.

Dong Yan felt complicated and bitter in his heart. He never expected to see Xu Yuyan before he died.

Although Xu Yuyan looked indifferent, he knew very well that Xu Yuyan wanted to drink his blood and eat his flesh.

Looking at Xu Yuyan in mourning clothes, Dong Yan understood that Xu Yuyan was mourning for his mother.
