Chapter 9: Morning and evening, evening and evening

Yan Ciwan woke up from a nightmare.

I looked out the window and found that it was already bright.

She covered the aching wound, her eyes filled with murderous intent towards Yan Tingyu.

She believed that she had never done anything wrong to her half-sister Yan Tingyu, but Yan Tingyu had plotted against her, and she must avenge herself!
But what did Yan Tingyu mean by his last words?
Could it be that A Niang had done something wrong to A Ye? And A Ye knew about it and acquiesced to Yan Tingyu's killing of her?
No, absolutely impossible!

Yan Ciwan's mother has lived in harmony with her father-in-law since she married into the Xizhou Palace. They have never had any rift in the decades since their marriage. The depth of their relationship makes her, her daughter, very envious.

A Niang can't possibly betray A Ye, there must be a misunderstanding here!

There was a knock on the door and Luhua's voice came in.

"Are you awake?"

Yan Ciwan closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then slowly relaxed.

When she opened her eyes again, the murderous intent in them had completely disappeared.

"Wake up, come in."

Luhua came in with hot water and helped her wash up.

Yan Ciwan suddenly asked, "Did you hear the piano music last night?"

Luhua paused in twisting the handkerchief.

She looked at Yan Ciwan strangely, and then said.

"I did hear the sound of a piano. It seemed to come from Songtao Pavilion, but you should have been asleep at that time. How could you know someone was playing the piano?"

It seems that someone was playing the piano in the palace last night. Yan Ciwan continued to ask: "Who lives in Songtao Pavilion?"

Luhua immediately became alert: "Why are you asking this? This is not something you should know, so don't ask."

Seeing that she refused to speak, Yan Ci Wan did not force her. He just kept the matter in mind and planned to find an opportunity to investigate it himself in the future.

Soon Liu came to Tingfeng Courtyard again.

She personally changed the dressing for Yan Ciwan and asked casually, "I don't know your name yet?"

Yan Ciwan didn't want to reveal his identity so as not to bring trouble to himself and Liu.

Her mother's surname is Ning and her nickname is Aci.

Say goodbye to morning and evening, say goodbye to each other late, and think about peace and quiet.

This was her parents' blessing to her. So she gave herself a new name -

"Ning Ci."

Liu was slightly startled: "Your last name is Ning too?"

Yan Ciwan blinked: "Is there anyone else with the last name Ning?"

"I used to have an old friend whose last name was Ning. If I look closely, you look a bit like her..." Liu shook her head again. "Forget it, I'm probably overthinking it. Your name is Ning Ci, so I'll call you Ah Ci from now on."

"Ah."

Yan Ciwan sat on the bed, her back leaning against the pillow, wearing a loose snow-white nightgown, her black hair draped behind her like ink, her little face as pale as paper, and her lips without a trace of blood.

She found that Liu still had the silk scarf around her neck. Not only that, the makeup on her face was even thicker. Upon closer inspection, she could vaguely see a faint scar on Liu's left cheek.

Liu noticed Yan Ciwan's gaze, smiled unnaturally, then picked up the steamed bun and asked.

"Do you need me to feed you?"

Yan Ci Wan saw that she was trying to change the subject and knew that she didn't want to be asked about the scars on her face, so Yan Ci Wan pretended that he didn't see anything and said, "I can do it myself."

She took the porcelain bowl and spoon and began to eat slowly.

After she had eaten her fill, Liu asked.

"Ah Ci, what do you think of my proposal last night?"

Yan Ciwan had already made a decision on this, and she spoke slowly.

"I can stay in the Chao Mansion as Chaolu, but I have something very important to do. I can only stay here for six or seven days at most. I will leave when the time is up, and my freedom cannot be restricted during this period. Can you accept this?"

Liu reminded: "You are seriously injured. It will take at least two months to recover. Six days is far from enough."

"You don't need to worry about this matter. I know what to do."

Seeing her firm attitude, Liu knew that persuasion was useless, so she could only sigh and say, "Okay."

Yan Ciwan thought about the other party's careful care and softened his voice: "Thank you for saving me."

Mrs. Liu smiled gently: "You are the same age as my daughter. When I look at you, it's as if I see my own daughter. Now she is alone outside and I don't know how she is doing. I am taking good care of you now, and I also hope that someone can take good care of my daughter like I do."

Yan Ciwan thought of what she saw and heard in her dream, pursed her lips slightly, with mixed feelings, and sincerely hoped that the dream was just an illusion.

Mrs. Liu is a good person. I hope she and Chaolu can be safe and sound.
