Chapter 10 Apology
"Miss, you..."

Before Feiyun could finish speaking, Luo Chujiu stuffed her indenture into Feiyun's palm.

"Keep this safe, I won't be responsible if you lose it."

Luo Chujiu spoke nonchalantly, which surprised and shocked Feiyun.

"Miss, are you...are you really going to give me this contract of indenture?"

Fei Yun's eyes were filled with disbelief. How could a master willingly give a contract of servitude to a maid? Wasn't the master afraid?
"Why can't I give it to you? What I need are loyal subordinates, not slaves who will do anything for me. I know the difference between the two very well."

Luo Chujiu spoke to Feiyun, word by word, with utmost seriousness.

Feiyun was about to burst into tears, but she stopped herself in time:
"Don't cry. I don't like sentimentality. Although I like to put on an act in front of my adoptive parents, you don't need to pretend in front of me. Of course, I will also show more of my true self in front of you. I hope you won't be too surprised."

Luo Chujiu's conversation with Feiyun today was full of sincerity. She hoped that Feiyun would become the most useful person by her side, and that Luo Chujiu would not have to pretend in front of Feiyun as she did in front of Luo Wanping and Luo Jiangshi.

Feiyun nodded quickly, indicating that she understood what Luo Chujiu meant.

"Alright, wipe your tears and wait outside the door. Remember, don't let Granny Jiang and those two maids near my room. I only need you to serve me closely."

"Yes, Miss, I will remember this!"

After saying that, Feiyun tightly gripped her indenture and left the room. She stood guard outside the door, and whenever Granny Jiang and Qianyun tried to approach the door, Feiyun would glare them away.

Meanwhile, Nan Ke returned to the Prince's residence and relayed Luo Chujiu's words to Xiao Beiming. Xiao Beiming was initially shocked, then chuckled:
"Did she really tell you that?"

"This subordinate dares not speak presumptuously; these are indeed the words Miss Luo wished to say to His Highness."

"This girl, does she really think she's my queen? Does she think I have to coax her?"

Xiao Beiming smiled and shook his head, pondered for a moment, and then got up and walked out.

"Your Highness, where are you going?"

"Pick a small gift to appease her."

After saying that, Xiao Beiming strode away, leaving Nan Ke alone, utterly puzzled.

No, Your Highness, you were just implying that Miss Luo was being presumptuous, and then you turned around and went to pick out a gift for her?!

Xiao Beiming selected a fine jade pendant from his private treasury, with the character "Ming" engraved on the back. He felt that this was the perfect gift to give.

"Nan Ke—"

"My subordinate is here."

"Do you have someone to deliver this jade pendant to her personally? Tell her it's my apology and I hope Miss Luo will forgive me and not hold a grudge against me."

Nan Ke: "Yes, Your Highness."

Nan Ke thought his prince was really good at making trouble, but he still had to go again obediently.

With the token from the Xiao Prince's Mansion in hand, the people from the Luo family dared not stop Nan Ke, and once again led Nan Ke to Luo Chujiu's courtyard.

When Granny Jiang saw Nan Ke again, she was on high alert.

"Why is Steward Nan here again? Is he looking for my young lady?"

Nan Ke glanced at Granny Jiang, then looked at Fei Yun:
"His Highness has something for me to give to Miss Luo. Please come out and meet me."

"Please wait a moment, Steward Nan, I will go and inform him right away."

Nan Ke nodded, watching Fei Yun enter the house. A short while later, Luo Chujiu came out with her.

This time, Fei Yun made sure Luo Chujiu put on her shoes and socks properly, preventing a repeat of the previous situation. Upon seeing Nan Ke, Luo Chujiu arrogantly raised her chin, her eyes questioning his purpose.

Nan Ke smiled slightly, took out a wooden box, and presented it with both hands:
"This is a gift from His Highness to Miss Luo. Please accept it with a smile. Also, His Highness asked me to tell Miss Luo that this is an apology from His Highness. I hope Miss Luo will be understanding and not hold a grudge."

Upon hearing Nan Ke's words, Luo Chujiu naturally followed the steps, took the box, opened it, and found a jade pendant of excellent quality.

When Luo Chujiu picked up the jade pendant, she could feel that her bond with Xiao Beiming had deepened, and the red thread of fate had become thicker.

"I've accepted the gift, so I'm not angry for now. You can go back now."

"Yes, please excuse me."

After saying this, Nan Ke hurriedly left.

Luo Chujiu happily tied the jade pendant around her waist, thinking it looked quite nice.

Granny Jiang saw all of this, and after Luo Chujiu entered the house, she left Caoshuang Pavilion and went to Luo Jiangshi's courtyard.

"You mean she's still in contact with Prince Xiao? Prince Xiao even gave her a token of their love?"

Lady Luo looked at Granny Jiang in disbelief.

“It’s absolutely true. This old servant saw it with his own eyes. Moreover, the young lady is extremely shameless. She actually went to see Steward Nan of the Xiao Prince’s Mansion barefoot. This old servant felt ashamed just looking at her.”

Upon hearing this, Lady Luo's eyes were filled with disdain.

"How utterly vulgar! Allowing such a scourge to remain in the Luo family will only bring shame upon the Luo family!"

“The young lady is so ignorant of etiquette. Madam should hire a more capable matron to teach her, so that she won’t even respect you, Madam, in the future.”

For reasons unknown, Granny Jiang kept stirring up trouble in front of Madam Luo, trying to make the relationship between Madam Luo and Luo Chujiu even worse.

Lady Luo Jiang believed this and planned to find a formidable governess to discipline Luo Chujiu the next day.

"Didn't the jinx say anything about the arrangement of her room?"

"Reporting to Madam, the young lady has never said anything bad about it, and is even quite satisfied with the courtyard, which is something that puzzles this old servant."

Logically speaking, a normal person would feel resentful seeing their own house so simple, feeling that they are being looked down upon and neglected by the Luo family.

However, the young lady seemed completely unconcerned about her living environment, remaining calm and composed, which was quite strange.

Upon hearing this, Lady Luo Jiang couldn't help but frown:

That Grass Frost Pavilion was specially prepared by her, just to annoy her. If that jinx became dissatisfied, she could use it as an excuse to say that she was disrespectful to her elders.

However, Luo Chujiu's reaction undoubtedly made Luo Jiangshi feel like she had punched cotton.

"Keep a close eye on her, and report to me immediately if she makes any unusual moves."

"Yes, Madam, this old servant knows. You can rest assured."

As night deepened, the Grass Frost Pavilion was completely silent.

Luo Chujiu didn't eat dinner; he just stayed in the room with his eyes closed, resting.

As night fell, Luo Chujiu suddenly felt a little hungry and wanted Feiyun to get her some food. However, before she could call for anyone, she noticed that there was another person in the room.

"Xiao Beiming? What are you doing here? When did you come in?"

“I have been here for a while. You were meditating, so I did not disturb you.”
