Chapter 70 Her father wants to remarry

Seeing that Zhou Qi didn't intend to get angry, Zhou Zan felt reassured.

Zhou Zan shrugged. "There's nothing I can do. I've already done it."

Looking at Zhou Zan, who seemed completely unfazed, he could see that Zhou Zan was like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water.

Zhou Qi gritted his teeth and instructed Wang Ma, "Go and call Uncle Wang, and tell him to take all the photos down and put them in the study on the second floor."

Wang Ma nodded and was about to leave when Zhou Zan called her back.

"No way! I'd like to see who dares to take the photo down!" Zhou Zan stood up and coldly rebuked with a serious expression.

Wang Ma glanced at Zhou Qi and then at Zhou Zan, but didn't dare to take a step.

Zhou Zan glanced at Wang Ma out of the corner of her eye, and a slight smile crept onto her lips. She was so brazen because Wang Ma usually doted on her.

Seeing that Wang Ma had looked at Zhou Zan and then at him pleadingly, Zhou Qi sighed.

He knew that Zhou Zan probably wanted him to let go of his past guilt towards Qin He. He also fully understood Zhou Zan's actions, but he just couldn't accept it for the time being.

"Wang Ma, you can go out now."

As Wang Ma was about to leave, Zhou Qi thought for a moment and added, "Have all the servants in the villa leave first. They are not allowed to come in without my permission."

Wang Ma gave a soft "hey" and walked towards the kitchen, telling the servants who were cooking inside to go outside first.

As the villa gate closed, Zhou Qi pointed to the sofa next to him, gesturing for Zhou Zan to sit down.

“Zhou Zan, I know what you mean, but everything should be done step by step.” Zhou Qi said helplessly, “Some things can’t be rushed.”

Zhou Zan's beautiful eyes flickered, and then she said pitifully, "Dad, I know some things can't be rushed. But these things have been weighing on your mind for over twenty years. It's time for you to let them go."

Zhou Qi turned to look at Zhou Zan's pitiful appearance, which was so similar to Qin He in his memory, and couldn't help but feel a little more pity for her.

"Okay, I'll do as you say. Hang your mom's picture in the living room."

Zhou Zan couldn't hide her joy; she hadn't expected it to be done so easily.

Seeing Zhou Zan's little gestures, Zhou Qi couldn't help but smile. She really looked just like Qin He.

“Dad, I don’t like the new maid, Aunt Zhang. Find a reason to fire her.” Zhou Zan frowned as he thought of the maid.

The topic changed so quickly that Zhou Qi couldn't keep up with Zhou Zan's train of thought for a moment.

"Aunt Zhang? Do we have any maids with the surname Zhang?" Zhou Qi paused, holding the juice, as if he hadn't expected Zhou Zan to mention Aunt Zhang.

"It was Uncle Wang who personally contacted her last week. I really don't like her."

Seeing Zhou Zan's annoyed expression, Zhou Qi found it amusing.

Firing a servant without a reason is not Zhou Zan's style.

"You have to give me a reason, right? How can you fire someone without a reason? Besides, you own a studio yourself, so you understand this principle." Zhou Qi earnestly persuaded, trying to get the reason for firing Aunt Zhang from Zhou Zan.

Zhou Qi's words made sense, and Zhou Zan understood them, but she had no reason to dislike Aunt Zhang.

We can't exactly tell Zhou Qi that she felt Zhang Yi had ulterior motives the moment she saw her, can we?
It is unacceptable to falsely accuse others without any evidence.

Finally, Zhou Zan made up an excuse on the spot.

"My sixth sense tells me that Aunt Zhang is not a good person. I just don't want to see her, so you have to fire her!" Zhou Zan threw a tantrum unreasonably.

Aunt Zhang definitely can't be fired, but she needs to find an excuse to get rid of Zhou Zan and force Aunt Zhang to leave.

After thinking for a while, Zhou Qi finally spoke, "There are some things that Dad can't tell you yet, but if you hate her, I'll make sure she doesn't appear in front of you, okay?"

Zhou Qi humbly coaxed Zhou Zan.

Zhou Zan pouted and nodded slightly.

It was already quite an achievement to get Zhou Qi to back down, but what she didn't understand was why Zhou Qi kept protecting Aunt Zhang. Could it be that Zhou Qi wanted to remarry? And that Aunt Zhang just happened to be the one he was going to marry?

Zhou Zan was startled by her own thoughts.

But Aunt Zhang has neither looks nor family background... She's a maid now, what kind of family background could she possibly have?
Then she thought of Zhou Qi's refusal to let her hang up Qin He's photo. Could it be that she was right after all these things?
Zhou Zan gritted her teeth. If it were true, she would run away from home and never come back!
Zhou Qi can remarry, but the woman he remarries absolutely cannot be Aunt Zhang!

If Zhou Qi insists on remarrying Aunt Zhang, and she acts recklessly, will Aunt Zhang whisper in Zhou Qi's ear?

What if her father cuts ties with her for that old woman, Aunt Zhang?
Probably not. Zhou Qi is already fifty; she probably can't have another child, right? If she gets pregnant, will she really have to pack her bags and leave?
Zhou Zan was lost in thought.

Seeing that Zhou Zan's complexion was getting worse, Zhou Qi spoke up to remind him.

What are you thinking about? Why do you look so pale?

Zhou Zan was lost in thought, already imagining Zhou Qi kicking her out of the house because of Aunt Zhang.

"It's none of your business!" Zhou Zan said angrily, then got up and stomped upstairs in her slippers.

Zhou Qi was at a loss and kept calling out from behind, "Zhou Zan, Zhou Zan, what are you doing now?"

Upon hearing Zhou Qi say that she was making a scene, Zhou Zan angrily quickened her pace as she went upstairs.

Zhou Qi stood there, completely bewildered. He was fine just a moment ago, so why is he acting angry and acting strangely again?

That little figure from behind looked exactly like Qin He when she was angry.

Zhou Qi shook his head, chuckled softly, then walked to the villa's gate, opened it, and let the servants in to cook.

He would go upstairs to call Zhou Zan when it was time to eat, and then they could talk things out.

Half an hour later, Zhou Qi went upstairs to Zhou Zan's room and gently knocked on the door.

"Zhou Zan, dinner is ready."

Zhou Zan listened to the sounds and knocking at the door, but remained silent in a huff.

Zhou Qi knocked twice more, but there was still no sound from inside the door.

"Zhou Zan, are you in your room? Come downstairs for dinner."

Zhou Zan ignored him, sitting on the hanging chair on the balcony with his legs crossed and not saying a word.

Zhou Qi rarely entered Zhou Zan's room. He believed that boys, including himself, should stay out of girls' rooms.

But Zhou Zan remained silent for a long time. Had something happened? Zhou Qi's heart tightened.

After hesitating for a moment, Zhou Qi still grasped the doorknob and opened the door.

The first thing you see is Zhou Zan sitting in a hanging chair playing on her phone.

Since they're in the room but not making a sound, they must be angry or have something on their mind.

"Since you're in the room, why aren't you saying anything?" Zhou Qi lowered his voice and asked softly.

Zhou Zan glanced at Zhou Qi, snorted coldly, and remained silent.

Could he have come to her room now to plead for Aunt Zhang? Zhou Zan felt increasingly distressed as she thought about it, but she didn't show the slightest sign of it on her face.

Zhou Qi pursed his lips, and Zhou Zan remained silent, unsure of how to begin.

The room fell silent for a moment.

Wang Ma waited downstairs for a long time but no one came down before she went upstairs to call for them.

"Sir, Madam, the food is getting cold."
