Chapter 206 Going home for the New Year
The year-end was fast approaching, and Nanxu and Lu Zhiyan's wedding photoshoot was finally over.

“We’re not married yet. I’m going back to my hometown for Chinese New Year this year.” Nan Xu leaned back on the sofa and brushed Guai Guai’s fur.

She wasn't discussing it with Lu Zhiyan; she was informing Lu Zhiyan.

“Okay.” Lu Zhiyan nodded.

He didn't care about that; both families lived in the capital, and it was only a little over an hour's drive each way, so it didn't matter where they spent the New Year.

Lu Zhiyan: "Do you have any plans after the New Year? If you don't need to go on a business trip, I'll discuss the wedding date with my mom."

Nan Xu thought it over carefully. "Ascending to the Throne" was already on track. With Lin Zhengyu in charge of the company, even if she needed to go, she wouldn't have to go on a business trip.

Based on this calculation, she should still be quite free after the New Year.

"Okay, you can arrange it as you see fit. I should be free after the New Year. I'll go pack my bags now. Tomorrow is the 28th, and my uncle's family is coming back from abroad."

Nanxu put Guaiguai on the ground and ran into the dressing room in a flash.

Actually, I won't be staying at home for more than a few days; I'll probably be back on the 3rd or 4th. So, I'll only be home for about a week.

Nanxu casually picked out a few festive clothes, folded them, and put them in her suitcase. Then came skincare products, jewelry, cosmetics... and soon she had packed a whole suitcase full of miscellaneous items.

She opened a local delivery app and bought another bag of dog food, which she then delivered to the Lin family.

After tidying up, it was already three o'clock. Nan Xu stretched her tired body and yawned.

"When are you coming home?" Nanxu asked, looking at Lu Zhiyan, who was standing by the window gazing into the distance.

"Me? I'm not in a hurry. I'll take you back to the Lin family first, and then we'll go back to the old house."

"Didn't Aunt Cen urge you?" Nan Xu walked over and stood next to Lu Zhiyan.

Lu Zhiyan smiled faintly, "My mother knows my personality. I don't like joining in the fun and usually don't go home until New Year's Eve. I heard that Lin Peiqian has a two-year-old son? Do you think I should give him a New Year's gift?"

"You mean Yuzheng? He's spoiled by my aunt and doesn't lack anything, so there's no need to buy him anything."

Speaking of Lin Yuzheng, Nan Xu felt a pang of tenderness; anyone would like such an adorable child.

Although only three years old, she is exceptionally sensible and adorable, melting Nanxu's heart.

Lu Zhiyan took the initiative to go to the dressing room to get Nan Xu's suitcase. "Let's go, I'll take you back."

"Mmm." Nan Xu picked up the little one and followed behind Lu Zhiyan.

As the year draws to a close, the atmosphere is filled with the New Year spirit, and the streets were very congested today. It took them an hour and a half to get to the Lin family's house.

Lu Zhiyan took the suitcase from the trunk, and Nan Xu took it from him. "Okay, you can go now."

Leaving? They're not even going to let him in to say hello?

"I'll go in and say hello to Grandpa Lin and the others."

"No, they're probably not even home."

It's a long-standing tradition of the Lin family that after the Lunar New Year, they go to the Lin family ancestral hall to stay for a few days to welcome their ancestors home.

Today is the 27th, I should be back by now, but I usually don't get back until after midnight.

So, apart from her and Lin Zhengyu, there should only be a few servants left in the entire villa.

Lin Jianshen is busy at the hospital and won't be able to go home until Lunar New Year's Eve.

Lu Zhiyan couldn't help but gasp as he recalled his previous meeting with Lin Zhengyu. It was alright if they didn't meet again.

"Alright, I'll be going then." Lu Zhiyan opened the car door and got in.

Nan Xu shook her little paw at Lu Zhiyan and said, "Sweetie, say goodbye to Daddy." Lu Zhiyan chuckled and said, "Goodbye, I'll pick you up on the second day of the Lunar New Year."

"it is good."

From the floor-to-ceiling windows on the second floor, Lin Zhengyu had a panoramic view of the courtyard.

He watched Nan Xu and Lu Zhiyan interact with a smile, it seemed that Nan Xu had good taste.

Only after Lu Zhiyan had disappeared from the courtyard did he go downstairs to help Nan Xu with her luggage. Nan Xu struggled to drag her suitcase inside, when suddenly her hand felt empty. She turned around in confusion.

"Big brother? Why are you back?" Nan Xu looked at Lin Jianshen with surprise.

Lin Jianshen spoke succinctly, slowly uttering two words: "Vacation."

"How can I let you carry such a heavy suitcase? Where is Zheng Yu?" He took the suitcase and pulled it inside without any effort.

"I just got back and haven't gone in yet, so I don't know where he is."

As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Zhengyu came out. He looked at Lin Jianshen with some surprise and asked, "Big brother, why are you back? Did you leave something at home?"

"No, I'm on vacation." He dragged his suitcase up the steps, and Lin Zhengyu quickly reached out to take it from him.

Lin Zhengyu jokingly said, "You took your vacation quite early this year."

"That's because I have to go back to work on the second day of the Lunar New Year," Lin Jianshen said irritably.

He smelled faintly of disinfectant, and after saying those words, he seemed to feel a faint sense of powerlessness.

"If you don't want to go to work, then don't. There's a huge family business waiting for you to inherit," Nan Xu said with a smile.

When the topic of inheriting the family business came up, Lin Jianshen was immediately filled with energy. "No, I still think it's better to work in the hospital. After all, I've gotten used to it over the years."

Nan Xu smiled and shook her head.

The suitcases were brought into the living room and taken upstairs by the maid. The three of them sat in the living room chatting.

From major business stocks to minor entertainment gossip.

Before founding Xinghe, Lin Zhengyu didn't like gossip at all. But after founding Xinghe, he developed a gossip "bad habit" in just a few months.

Perhaps because we live close by and know more about everything, we tend to talk more.

The little girl nestled obediently in Nanxu's arms, her fluffy white fur blending seamlessly with Nanxu's white wool sweater, making her almost invisible unless you looked closely.

The maid came over with a bag of dog food. "Miss, this dog food order has your name and phone number on it... Is this yours?"

Nan Xu glanced back and said, "Okay, take it to my room."

"Dog food? Why are you buying dog food? Do you have a dog?" Lin Jianshen asked.

Nan Xu raised an eyebrow. So Lin Jianshen hadn't seen the puppy she'd been holding all day? That didn't make sense either; her WeChat Moments were full of pictures of the puppy. How could Lin Jianshen not have noticed?
"Brother, you never knew I had a dog?" Nan Xu asked tentatively.

"When did you get a dog? How come I didn't know?" Lin Jianshen adjusted his glasses.

"So you didn't even know I'd been posting pictures of my puppy on social media for a month? Is being a doctor really that busy? If you really can't keep up, quit. I'm afraid you'll fall behind the times if you continue like this."

Lin Zhengyu curled the corners of his lips. It wasn't that Lin Jianshen was busy; it was just that his life had always been very simple.

Going to work, reviewing medical records, attending academic seminars, going on blind dates, eating, and sleeping—these things have taken up all of his time.

He spends fourteen out of every twenty-four hours of the day focused on patients and their cases.

There's no way around it; Lin Jianshen is just too passionate about medicine and everything else he loves. Of course, this doesn't include blind dates.
