Chapter 7 Righteousness
"What do you mean? Isn't it just that I didn't make the quilt? Do you want to chase me away? Everyone knows that I am your wife. If you don't want me, who should I marry in the future? Woohoo, I'm going to be a bachelor." Li Yingtang was panicked. She threw herself face down on the bed and sobbed. After crying for a while, she secretly observed his reaction with the side face. He was silently sorting out the things she threw at the end of the bed.

Do you really want to kick her out?
It can't be done.

She simply got up and threw herself into his arms: "Don't chase me away, okay? I will learn to do housework."

Qin Xian remained frozen for a long time: "Who chased you away? No one asked you to do housework."

Li Yingtang was confused and said, "What do you mean? Why are you packing my things?"

"Don't you think it's too messy?" Qin Xian looked at her with a frown. She had been crying for a long time, but why didn't she shed a single tear?

His hands were still not quiet and kept reaching into his clothes.

"Oh." Li Yingtang was relieved, let go of him and pinched his waist through his sweater.

So detailed!

So solid!
"Where should I put them?" The box was already full of his things.

"Put the cardboard box first, and when I have time, ask the village carpenter to order a wooden box." Qin Xian lifted the old quilt, folded it in a few seconds and put it on the box, spread out the new sheets, and put the cotton batting on it: "Does it work to put on the quilt?"

Li Yingtang shook his head in embarrassment.

Qin Xian: "What else can you do?"

Li Yingtang said weakly, "I can eat."

Qin Xian: “.”

Li Yingtang worked with Qin Xian to put on the quilt and went into the kitchen to check on the drainage of the hawthorns.

The top layer was already dry, but it was still a little damp when she turned it over, so she prepared to string the hawthorns together first.

After stringing the last one, it was already dark.

She stood up, turned on the light, and went back to the stove to light the fire.

No matter how she tried to light the fire, the wood wouldn't burn.

She was so angry that she pulled the firewood from under the stove and threw it toward the door. Qin Xian just lifted the curtain and the firewood stick hit his feet. She stood up in fright.

"Who pissed you off again?"

Li Yingtang was annoyed: "I can't start a fire."

Qin Xian glanced at him and said, "Who uses rough firewood to make a fire? Don't you often go camping with friends? You don't need to make a fire when you eat and live outside?"

Li Yingtang was speechless. He couldn't tell him that in a few decades, using gas cylinders would no longer be popular, right? "I was just bragging."

Qin Xian: "First use straw to start the fire, then slowly add fine wood, then thicker wood. How come you don't know how to do anything?"

Li Yingtang muttered: "Isn't it enough if you can do it?"

Qin Xian: “.” Who will be whose wife?

Qin Xian started a good fire. Li Yingtang added water and sugar in proportion to make syrup, then poured it on the skewered hawthorn balls. After they cooled down, she took a bite and said, "It's sour and sweet, and quite delicious." She held the rest to Qin Xian's mouth and said, "Try it."

Qin Xian moved his neck back and stared at the candied haws she had bitten. For no reason, he wanted to move closer and take a bite of the place where she had bitten. When he realized this, his face gradually turned red. "I don't like sweet things."

"Well, I'll just have to eat it myself."

It was already eight o'clock in the evening when Li Yingtang finished making all the candied haws.

Qin Xian cooked a pot of noodle dumpling soup, and Li Yingtang ate it with sweat all over his forehead: "It's delicious, you are such a good cook."

Just mix some batter, throw it into a pot of boiling water, add a few handfuls of vegetables and some salt, and it becomes a delicious dish.

The chef her parents hired at a high price cooked different kinds of meals for her every day, but the meals were not half as good as his.

Qin Xian: "Don't talk while eating and don't talk while sleeping."

Li Yingtang shut up reluctantly.

After dinner, I went into the infirmary, found a cardboard box, lined it with oil paper, and stored the candied haws in it. I got up before dawn the next day and pushed the box to the market in a wheelbarrow.

Before leaving, Qin Xian advised: "Be careful on the road and don't trust others easily."

Li Yingtang was pleased with himself and said with a smile, "Don't trust me? Just follow me."

Qin Xian said nothing.

Li Yingtang raised an eyebrow, still embarrassed. "I'm leaving."

Arriving at the market, Li Yingtang picked a crowded intersection to set up a small stall to sell. The market sells candied haws for 20 cents a string, and she buys two strings for 30 cents, and three strings for 50 cents, and she can even taste them first.

The stall was soon surrounded by a crowd of people.

"I want two."

"I want two skewers for thirty cents, three servings."

"Okay, come one by one." Li Yingtang raised his voice to maintain order.

Three large boxes of candied haws were sold out in less than half an hour.

The uncle who was selling goat milk at the stall next to him said enviously: "You are a good business girl. I am not like that. I have been waiting for a long time but few people buy."

"How can anyone know what you are selling if you keep silent?" Li Yingtang was collecting money while passing on his experience verbally: "You have to shout, the louder the better."

"It's embarrassing with so many people coming and going."

"I didn't steal or rob, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about." Li Yingtang spoke up for him, "Fresh goat milk for sale. It boosts immunity, helps with sleep, and is good for your skin. Don't miss it if you pass by."

After an introduction.

The goat milk stall's business is much better.

Li Yingtang's place was deserted, so she prepared to change the place: "Uncle, your goat milk is fifty cents a bowl, can I exchange seven candied haws for two bowls?"

"Okay, without your help, how can I have such a good business? Where do I put the goat milk?"

Li Yingtang poured out the water in the kettle to store goat milk, and then pushed the cart towards the residential area.

It took me a whole morning to walk through the streets and alleys and I finally sold all the candied haws.

I made a total of twelve dollars and sixty cents.

I went to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought a bunch of wool, intending to knit a scarf for Qin Xian to thank him for buying me a cotton coat.

I went to the police station again to inquire about the issue of registering the illegal resident population.

The staff learned that she had no parents and no fixed place to live. They gave her two suggestions:

1. After getting married and getting the marriage certificate with the man, your household registration will be directly registered in the man’s home.

2. Go to the brigade where you permanently reside to get a letter of introduction, and then use the letter to apply for settlement.

Li Yingtang seemed to be thinking about something, then thanked him and left. There was a strong wind on the way back, and the journey that was supposed to take three hours ended when they got home after dark.

The cold moon jumped above the treetops, and a dim light shone through the cottage.

"Ah Xian, Ah Xian."

After a moment, the tall figure of the young man appeared in front of him: "Why are you here so late?"

"Business is hard, the wind is so strong that I can't open my eyes, and it's cold. How early can we go if we have to walk? I'm freezing to death. Is there any food?"

Qin Xian: "Stew wild duck in an iron pot."

Li Yingtang went straight to the kitchen. Qin Xian pushed the cart behind him and shook the kettle thrown in the cart.

full.

Haven’t drunk water for a day?

He unscrewed it and smelled a fishy smell: "Bought milk?"

Li Yingtang: "It's goat milk. I'll make you double-skin milk tomorrow."

Qin Xian: "Double skin milk? I've never had it, so I don't know what it tastes like."

"You'll know when you try it." Li Yingtang went into the house, washed his hands, and sat down. He took out nine dollars and said, "You're my man, and you can cook. From now on, you'll be in charge of the household, and I'll be in charge of the outside. All the money I earn will be yours. Take it."

Qin Xian: “.” So, he is the wife, right?
He hesitated for a second and put the money away.

Li Yingtang nodded with satisfaction. If you take her money, you will be hers.

Qin Xian: "What's stuck on the back of your clothes?"

Li Yingtang turned her head and exclaimed, "It looks like bird poop, my new cotton-padded jacket." The firewood in the earthen stove was burning brightly, and the temperature in the room was still quite high. She immediately took off her cotton-padded jacket to check, and as luck would have it, her private money fell out and landed on the ground with a slight clicking sound.
