Chapter 25 Going to the funeral
"Doctor Qin, there's a letter for you. It's from the city." The postman delivered the letter to the door.

Li Yingtang came closer to take a look. There was no signature on the sender column of the envelope, only the address: "No. 1, Yongxiang, Xicheng District. Who is it? How could it be mailed without writing a name?"

"It's that family." Qin Xian's face darkened a little and he threw the envelope into the trash can.

He walked to the bedside to organize her newly bought clothes and supplies, and suddenly touched her underwear. He paused, his face suddenly flushed, and his eyes glanced at her lightly.

The woman picked up the letter and read it with her delicate eyebrows down, her expression serious and focused. After a moment, she slapped the table with her bare hands holding the letter paper: "How can this be! Damn it, who would send someone to inform of a funeral? Why did he write a letter? What's so noble about that? He also threatened that if you don't go, he will report you for being unfilial. Did he write the law?

Still reporting? Do they think you are a criminal? You don’t even know how to phrase it. Your whole family’s education level combined probably doesn’t even graduate from elementary school.”

Qin Xian lowered his eyes to hide his emotions: "They are all college students."

"Did you pass the exam based on your own abilities, just like you?"

"That's not clear. My last name is Qin, and their last name is He. We are not related at all. Don't trust their threats and worry about me."

"But I'm not happy about them threatening you."

Qin Xian's depressed mood dissipated a lot because of her words, and he smiled: "How can I be happy?"

Li Yingtang's black eyes rolled, and he hooked his finger at him, and softened his tone: "Come here, I'll tell you."

Qin Xian walked towards her after hesitation.

Li Yingtang rushed forward and just as she was about to put her arms around his waist, Aunt Liu arrived.

"Xiao Qin Ai, you young people are really energetic. You don't even close the door in broad daylight." Aunt Liu covered her eyes, but couldn't help but peek through her fingers.

Li Yingtang almost gritted her teeth and said, "Aunt Liu, are you here to question me just about Li Rong?"

Aunt Liu waved her hands hurriedly: "How can that be? She is useless, it's not your fault. It's just a pity for such a good boy. Xiao Qin, do you have any medicine that can make me whiter? I don't ask Lirong to be as white as your wife, just like you."

Qin Xian said bluntly: "No."

Li Yingtang interrupted and said, "Aunt Liu, I have something unpleasant to say to you. Your niece's problem is not her appearance, but her personality.

In front of strangers, she bites her lips, droops her eyes, and acts shy. When others talk to her, she either says "um" or "eh".

Although she is introverted and not good at speaking, when she criticizes me, she pours out a lot of words.

You came to see me because you listened to her, right?

I helped her, but I didn't get any benefit. Instead, she threw dirty water on me. It was really disheartening."

Aunt Liu's face turned red and white, and she said angrily, "I'll deal with her right away." Then she left.

A patient came to the health station and Qin Xian started to get busy.

Li Yingtang had to suppress his restlessness, put the newly bought clothes into the box, put the underwear into the basin and washed it with water, wrung it out and put it in the basin again after drying it. He picked up the letter again, thought about it for a while, and came up with a plan.

The next day, Li Yingtang went into the city again and found the He family according to the address on the envelope.

Isn’t Qin Xian going to attend the funeral?

she comes.

It not only shuts up the He family, but also kills their fighting spirit.

In front of us is a large courtyard.

There were white lanterns hanging on both sides of the door, and a number of cars were parked against the wall.

One of the army green jeeps was particularly eye-catching.

She locked the bike and walked over to get a closer look at the car.

Very cool.

The rearview mirror is a bit small.

It is suitable to be used as a mirror.

The wind blew along the way, messing up her hair.

There are a lot of people here today, so she has to pay attention to her image.

Just as I reached out to fiddle with my hair, a light sigh was heard.

"What are you doing?" He Fanzhi came with bad intentions.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hit you yesterday. I asked you to hit me back." Li Yingtang smiled slightly, but his eyes were cold, and he stretched his face in front of him to ask for a beating. He Fanzhi was stunned, as if he didn't expect Li Yingtang to apologize: "You came here alone?"

Li Yingtang stood up straight after receiving the slap he had been waiting for. "Yeah, Ah Xian doesn't want to come. If you don't hit me, our grudge will be written off. Where do we burn incense?"

"Lobby."

.........

After Li Yingtang entered the He family, he followed the mourners into the mourning hall and lined up to burn incense.

The old man was wearing funeral clothes and looked haggard as he lay in an unsealed coffin.

Two young men were kneeling in front of the coffin, burning paper.

It was Li Yingtang's turn to burn incense. The two of them looked up and glanced at each other.

One of them asked, "That person didn't come?"

"Which one?" Li Yingtang curled his lips secretly. He didn't even want to call Qin Xian's name, but notified him to attend the funeral. It was obvious that they wanted to bully him together.

If you can't tolerate it, why provoke him?

Is there some treasure hidden on him or something?

“Two rascals!” He Laoda stepped forward and opened his mouth to greet Li Yingtang, but he didn’t know her name: “Seventh Old Wife, don’t mind, come in and sit down.”

"Okay." Li Yingtang responded generously and followed Boss He into the house.

The living room was almost full.

Old Mrs. He leaned back in her chair and wiped her tears, while a group of younger generations surrounded her to comfort her.

"Mom, the seventh brother's family is here."

Li Yingtang walked over and greeted: "Good morning, Auntie."

Old Mrs. He leaned back in anger: "You, who are you calling auntie?"

Li Yingtang blinked: "Of course it's you."

"You, you, you, who allowed you to scream like that!"

"This auntie is not that auntie, but if you are not happy, I won't call her that. Why are you angry?" Li Yingtang sat quietly by the side, looking at everyone with a pair of innocent eyes.

He Laoda's wife spoke first: "Seventh Lao's wife, what's your name?"

"Li Yingtang."

"Where do you live? How old are you? Do you have any brothers or sisters? What do your parents do? We don't know anything about the seventh brother's marriage, and we know even less about you."

"I live in Yanjing. I'm twenty years old. I have an older brother who is ten years older than me. My parents work in the confidentiality industry." Li Yingtang said half-truthfully.

The eldest son of the He family and He Fanzhi exchanged glances secretly. No wonder they couldn't find any information about her after searching all night.

It turns out that my parents’ job is to keep secrets.

Old Mrs. He: "The fact that your parents can keep a secret shows that they are smart. You are only 20 years old, and you want to get married without studying? Will your parents agree? You are talking nonsense."

"Who said I didn't study? I graduated from college a long time ago. I was just too lazy to work."

“Graduated from college at the age of 20? Are you a genius? Who are you kidding?” The girl from the He family is the same age as Li Yingtang and she was very unconvinced.

"Believe it or not, is there a place for me to stay? I'm a little tired from traveling." Li Yingtang didn't consider himself an outsider at all.

He Lao Da's wife arranged her to live in the yard near the back door: "This is it, you can rest assured and treat it as your own home. You can stay as long as you want."

"I don't live here. This room was where maids lived in ancient times."

He Lao Da's wife: "Nonsense, how can a maid live in such a nice house?"

"My house also has a courtyard like this, with one more entrance than yours. I know best who lives in which position. I want to live in the courtyard of the master in front."

He Lao Da's wife: "It's a new society now, everyone is equal, why should we care about those dregs?"

"Everyone is equal. Why don't you arrange for your son and daughter to live here? If I had known I should have listened to Axian, I would not have come here." Li Yingtang pretended to walk out.
