Chapter 184 The Little Dumpling is a Money-Grubber

The Duke of Yan's mansion is really greedy for Rong Yang. Anyone who can coax the little dumpling back home will have accomplished a great feat.

Rong Yang was very easy to talk to: "Okay, I'll tell my father and mother."

Rong Yang ran to the young master's courtyard. Rong Jun, carrying his youngest son, and Qin Bi came to see Rong Yang off. Qin Bi and the young master stood together. The second young mistress had mixed feelings; if only they hadn't divorced back then…
The second young mistress only thought about it for a moment before quickly giving up.

Rong Yang followed them back to the Duke of Yan's mansion. On the way, the second young mistress sent someone to the palace to inform Prince He. Rong Yang had just entered the mansion when Prince He returned.

Prince He carried a fruit basket, which contained several spiritual fruits.

“These are fruits I just picked from the Immortal Sect,” said Prince He. “Rong Yang, have a taste.”

Rong Yang took one to eat. Freshly picked fruit doesn't need washing. The child sat on a small stool, swinging his little legs, clearly in a good mood. Prince He's eyes flashed, and he probably guessed the reason.

Prince He summoned his guards: "Send a cartload of melons and fruits from the estate to the fourth branch of the Qin Yan Marquis's residence."

The little dumpling's eyes lit up: "For my maternal grandparents' family?"

Prince He guessed correctly, and a smile appeared in his eyes as he nodded: "Yes, send it to your maternal grandparents' family in the name of Rong Yang, so that your maternal grandparents' family knows how good Rong Yang is."

The little dumpling was delighted and stood up, saying, "I'll go too."

Her father had told Rong Yang that her mother Qin Bi's father, brothers, and stepmother had treated her, as a concubine's daughter, extremely well and would support her in times of trouble. Therefore, Rong Yang should also be good to her maternal grandparents.

Rong Yang remembered everything that was good to her mother.

Seeing that the child was happy, Prince He naturally didn't stop him.

When Duke Yan returned, the child had already gone to the residence of Marquis Qin Yan.

"They've left?" Duke Yan could not hide his disappointment.

“Go to his maternal grandfather’s house,” said Prince He. “And come back.”

Duke Yan then went to the storeroom to find things for Rong Yang to take back. He missed his child and wanted to give him all the good things. Knowing that Rong Yang was fond of demon beast crystals, Duke Yan hurriedly went to find some.

Rong Yang delivered fresh fruits and two spiritual fruits to the Qin Yanhou residence, and the Qin Di family welcomed the little dumpling.

Jiang and Lin were even more triumphant. In the past, when Prince He brought good things to the Qin Yan Marquis's mansion, most of them were given to the second branch of the family. The public could get a share, but the third and fourth branches of the family did not.

Now that Rong Yang is here, things are different; even the second wife has to step aside.

"Grandmother," Rong Yang said, "I'll give you some spiritual fruit."

Madam He was delighted. Qin Bi's children were all close to their maternal grandparents. Among the children born out of wedlock, none were as affectionate and righteous as Qin Bi. Madam He was naturally reluctant to eat the spirit fruit, so she gave two to her two sons, one for each of them.

Spiritual fruits are beneficial for cultivation; this is common knowledge in the Great Yan Dynasty.

Qin Di showed no dissatisfaction; the family was all smiles and in harmony. Rong Yang didn't stay long; he knew the Yan State Duke's mansion adored him. The child sat for a while and then went back. Qin Yan and Qin He, his younger sister, stared blankly as Rong Yang left.

Qin Yan asked Qin He's younger sister, "Shouldn't the young master give good things to the second branch of the family?"

Qin He's younger sister remained silent. She was just acting impulsively, not truly foolish. Rong Yang was He Shizi's child. Now that He Shizi had his own child, Qin He and Fu Bao would have to take a backseat.

However, she didn't expect the difference to be so obvious.

Finally, Qin He's younger sister said, "Sister Qin He is Prince He's white moonlight." "Yes." Qin Yan naturally knew that Qin He was Prince He's white moonlight, and nodded, "In the past, whenever Prince He got something good, he would send it to the second branch of the family. Why didn't he send anything this time?"

Qin He's younger sister stubbornly replied, "Young Master He is busy with state affairs; perhaps he forgot."

Qin Yan nodded in deep agreement. Rong Yang was He Shizi's child and should be loved, but Qin He was He Shizi's white moonlight and childhood sweetheart. He Shizi would not abandon the second wife.

Rong Yang returned to the Duke of Yan's mansion, where Prince He was waiting at the gate. He then carried the little dumpling back into the mansion.

The baby was small and soft; He Yan missed his child.

But Rong Yang treated the Rong King's Mansion as her home, and He Yan couldn't take it away, so he could only coax her back. Fortunately, the little dumpling was a money-grubber, and He Yan had amassed quite a few rare and precious treasures. It was alright if the little dumpling would come back from time to time, thinking about the treasures.

"You're back." The Duchess of Yan also longed to hold the child: "Come on, Grandmother has prepared fresh fruits and vegetables from the estate for you."

"Grandfather just went to the Immortal Sect and picked two bunches of spirit fruits for you. We don't eat ordinary fruits." Duke Yan called to Rong Yang, "Come on, let's see the demon beast crystals that Grandfather has collected for you."

He Yan raised an eyebrow and gave Rong Yang to the Duke of Yan.

Lady Yan couldn't win against Duke Yan, and the little dumpling went with Duke Yan.

In the study, there was a small fruit basket on the table, containing two bunches of spirit fruits with leaves still attached, looking very fresh. He Yan took a small bunch and gave it to Xiao Tuanzi, who happily ate it.

Duke Yan beckoned, holding two wooden boxes: "Rong Yang, come and see. These are monster crystals for you. One box is for you, and the other is for your younger brother Rong Chi."

"You have a younger brother?" Rong Yang's eyes lit up.

"The young master Rong has raised you very well." Duke Yan knew that children liked children, so he nodded and said, "Grandfather doesn't have anything good, but I'll give your younger brother a box of demon beast crystals. How about that?"

"Okay, okay." Rong Yang nodded in satisfaction.

A smile played on He Yan's lips as he exchanged a glance with the Duke of Yan. Very well, as long as Rong Yang thought of the Rong family's little dumpling, she was happy. The Duke of Yan felt a pang of sadness, but he could accept it.

Rong Yang was very happy. After returning home, she gave the spirit fruit and the demon beast crystal to Qin Bi. The little dumpling went back to the Yan State Duke's Mansion, which made everyone in the mansion very happy. Even those who were not in the mansion returned, all doting on Rong Yang.

In the Xue Prince's mansion, Qin He couldn't understand why Fu Bao, who always brought back many good things from the Yan State Duke's mansion, had returned empty-handed this time. Qin He summoned the head maid and old woman who accompanied her to ask them questions.

"What happened?" Qin He asked, "Why did Fu Bao come back empty-handed?"

The head maid hesitated before speaking, "The Duchess of Yan said that the yield on the estate was low, so she didn't send any melons and fruits from the young princess's estate."

"Who said it was just ordinary fruit?" Qin He said impatiently, sitting in her chair with the airs of a princess consort. "Fu Bao hasn't been to the Duke of Yan's mansion for so long, hasn't the Duchess of Yan given Fu Bao anything good?"

"No," the head maid shook her head.

Qin He was at her wit's end. She blamed Fu Bao for being too young and not knowing how to ask for things. She thought that if children were sweet-talking, they could get anything from her. She had made a wasted trip and sighed in frustration.

Qin He also got a craving and wanted to eat the spirit fruit.

Qin He swallowed hard, not wanting anyone to see that she was craving something.

Once outside the living room, Qin He scolded Fu Bao: "You too, you don't even know how to coax people. The Duke of Yan's mansion has so many good things, but you went there and came back empty-handed, without even a single spiritual fruit."

“Let’s go to Lingzhi Street to buy it!” Fu Bao said.
